I love how this video, which is an ad for his backpack, is sponsored by Shopify, which runs his store. He's monetizing his monetization lmao. Brilliant.
Where was this back pack 10 years ago, I literally ran across my middle AND high school with 25-30 LBS in my bag, and I went through a bag every year. This bag I could probably still use it today. Especially I can relate to so many of the key points Linus brings up / addressed. Literally above and beyond
Same here, carried a dufflepack all through middle and high school, only used my locker for my winter coat, finally retired the bag when the top handle started to fray apart after five years. Still got the shoulder strap though! Was a farm kid and by the last semester of each year since I just filed away all my returned homework papers in the bag it was around 40lbs, and I had a few teachers who couldn't even lift it! funny how I never felt a need to lift weights for Gym class.
lol up until this point I just used camera bags... Since they also have to deal with heavy weight and have to carry fragile equipment, it kinda works great to carry around my electronics. But since it's not dedicated "tech" bag it always lacked something to me. Hope this bag is better.
I bought a ridiculously high-quality backpack at the start of my college days. It was made of nylon mostly. The thing is still in perfect condition to this day, 14 years later with 8 years of heavy use at college and at my first jobs.
Used the same backpack from LLbean from kindergarten to college. Front pocket zipper was the only thing to break. Would send it back and they would fix it for free.
This is a really well designed backpack and I would love to get one BUT there is no way I can justify the 300$ it would cost me to ship this to Switzerland.
Yeah, this is not for people who just want a good quality well designed backpack. You can get those from reputable brands for much cheaper. This is for people who specifically want a *LTT* backpack and don't care about the price. The price is just reallity what it costs for a company that's not in backpacking industry, to make their own unique quality product instead of re-branding existing stuff.
The $250 of the backpack itself is already way too much. That’s a HUGE investment for a backpack.. I can see $100 maybe for the quality, but they live in the rich people word 😪 . LMG makes sooo much pure revenue already, that they could probably give it out for $20 without taking a big hit in the bank

@@noynayru lol keep dreaming, I could see it being sold for 100$+ for no profit but 20$?
When shareholders and marketing don't get involved in r&d, actual results for the consumers. Making something that will last is against every business 101 it seems these days. Thanks, mate!
Agreed, this is a great stuff-everything-in-'er backpack, but that's probably a bit much for a lot of people who don't need to take that much to school or work
A couple years ago I moved to germany for work but was traveling back home (spain) every now and then and just carried my backpack with my personal and work laptop with me with some extra stuff, so I bought a targus backpack, and I always ended up needing extra bulk space in it for either a sweater that I would carry before the flight, maybe my headphones or other stuff. At first sight the bulk space seems overkill, but after a few years of using my backpack and seeing the LTT one, I think I'd rather have the extra space and not always need it than not having it and carrying an extra bag when I need the space. It's kind of a hindsight situation imo.
Yeah I agree, Its why i have a ULX backpack, it is a really good option thats a tech oriented normal looking backpack. If linus came out with a slim version of this that didnt make you look like a year 7 then I would 100% buy it.
He's literally stated that in several videos, same goes for his screw driver, all of his cloths, he hired engineers just to design the products he wants, and was like I'm sure other people will also like it.
I’ve been using the backpack for about a month now. I LOVE IT. The even weight distribution is the biggest thing for me. When you pick it up by the top strap, the weight won’t lean to the front or back. Makes it feel lighter even when it’s stuffed. I can’t wait for the LTT Wallet.
Just got mine today but this is what I first noticed. A combination of my usual tools, my fairly heavy laptop, my Steam deck, and various other things felt like it was nothing. Most recently I've been using the ifix it messenger bag and it couldn't even fit what the LTT bag can yet it always felt so heavy. I thought I might be overhyping the LTT backpack but it holds more than I imagined and feels way better to wear than I could have imagined.
Really like the thought and features packed into this bag. Unfortunately, I never need to carry that much stuff and I think the bag is far too bulky for someone who will use it like I would. Hopefully, in the future, there will be a smaller version that will be designed more as a laptop bag and less like a travel bag.
This video finally convinced me. I've been watching LTT and Short Circuit with every new video and listened to hours of adds and shameless product plugs, but this was finally the moment where I decided on pulling the trigger. To hold your product until suboptimal market conditions (past "back to school" shopping season) to maintain high quality standards, shows me that the level of detail going into this product is something I want to experience for myself. Long time lurker, first time customer. Can't wait to see if this lives up to the expectations I have for it. I will review this thoroughly once received as I am yet to have a positive experience with other similarly priced bags.
I would LOVE a bag like this with HALF the space. It's a great backpack but it would be to bulky for the things i use it for. A smaller one withbthe same straps, zippers and sturdyness would be an instant buy for me.
Probably 18 months away if I had to guess. My best estimate is that they spent 7.5 million dollars on bags not including designing and prototyping if you assume a typical 30% margin. The OG bag is going to subsidize the 13 million dollar building they bought and some will be set aside for the backpack team to go back to the drawing board I’m sure.
Same because over the years as I've gotten older, I've learned to lighten my EDC load, and currently carry a Target branded mini backpack(I also have their sling bag If I want to go even lighter), but I carry my Nokia T20 tablet w/ a Logitech K480 keyboard in it's own 2 compartment laptop sleeve that sadly won't fit in the bag under my arm, and I don't carry enough stuff for a full laptop bag, so I would also love to see a a smaller version of this bag for a 13in laptop/tablet with not so many dang pockets, till then for me for the money Target makes the best bags with security zippers for my EDC needs.
I agree, it looks like a nice bag for people that travel for business. For me though, electronics wise when traveling I might take a tablet and some headphones. The last thing I need is another backpack though.
This is a really well designed backpack and probably would be the last I owned, but for over $300 CAD, I still wish for slightly more features. I know Linus is always open to any improvements, so please hear me out! I could add that the sunglass holder can be placed below the outer pocket, that way it can have a hard shell. Having it at the bottom is an unexpected area to have sunglasses for thieves, and having vertical zippers would allow you to quickly store/retrieve them without any awkward arm reaching or removing the backpack. Also, one of the selling points in bags especially in Asia is blade-resistant bottoms. It’s common for thieves to slice the bottom of the bag and loot your stuff before you get a chance to react. One final addition could be outer clips or straps to carry large objects, I really enjoy the two straps on my backpack currently so I can carry around a small skateboard. To go above and beyond, I would have a collapsable expansion area on the main compartment if the issue was storing bulky items. I hope Linus sees this! It’s a great bag, but for that price point it has to be absolutely perfect.
I agree with your points and have 1 more thing to add, a way for a camelback type system to work wouldve also been really nice. Goes against thier waterbottles though, so I can understand why they wouldnt, but I cannot see myself ever buying a backpack without that ability.
An actually sharp knife will cut through those "blade-resistant" bottoms like a hot knife through butter. This thing, with two layers of polymer-based fabric will be just as resistant (if not more-so) than those special bottoms. Also, I would simply say this.....if somebody is getting close enough to you to swipe anything/damage your bag, you're doing something wrong. I do not allow people to get that close to me, ever. At least not without me having my bag in view and holding it.
I was skeptical at first regarding whether you guys could make a backpack interesting but honestly, a well-made one can really be your best friend for many years and this one really seems to have a lot of thought put into it. Good job! If international shipping costs ever become reasonable, I might just order one.
@@StarkeksLP i think they're not that interested with worldwide shipping ... if they were, they would've figured something out by now ... their main market is the US ... even to Canada, shipping is $25. EDIT: Oh wow, it's $80 dollars more to ship to EU, Romania .... $55 dollars shipping, plus another $30 taxes ...
This bag is impressive, I can completely understand the price tag given the effort that was put into it, but as other have said, a EU friendly shipping option would be really appreciated. $50 just for shipping, and with import taxes, I'm now looking at a $360 backpack.
@@Abu_Shawarib Literally have to be singularly shipped from a West Canadian warehouse. The price is what the price is, LTT can’t help that given their size. I just don’t know what people expect an EU friendly shipping option to be, considering anything substantial could bankrupt LTT if they then don’t put their money where their mouth is and purchase frequent and often from said option. Other then that, it’s got like 2000+ miles to cover to get to you at least. Like I don’t even work at LTT but even I can see logically why they’d have to pay more. It’s not LTT’s fault they have import taxes into the EU, Euro’s buying power fell, and they have to pay to get someone to carry it to them. They’ve already paid the price themselves to get it from China after all, you’re just paying the price to meet them halfway.
@@Hanja45 I'm not saying they should if it doesn't make sense financially, I'm just arguing on the final purchase price tag. If they don't then fine, but I think it's a valuable insight for lmg to know that they are losing out on potential buyers. I'm sure they already did the math on having warehouse elsewhere for the rest of the shop. With the backpack being such a huge gamble for them, community feedback is something they would listen to, hence my message here. I wouldn't mind having to wait for a special eu wave, where things would just be on backorder with a larger shipping window. Crowdfounded project do that all the time, while also offering tax friendly shipping option, it also significantly reduces the environmental impact of the whole process, which I think should also be considered here.
@@Abu_Shawarib So you would happily pay 360 USD for a backpack? You realize how much money that is for many people, right? The only reason why this is so expensive is because they make the bags in China, ship them all over the world to Canada and then ship them to Europe. There are businesses that do nothing else but order fulfillment for stuff from China. So that they'd just need to ship a container from China to the warehouse in Europe from where they could ship the backpacks way cheaper for the customer with lower shipping fees and less import tax struggles. Have you ever driven 1 hour to your local customs office to pick up a bag, pay an arbitrary amount of money just to get the bag? I can totally see why Europeans would prefer not to deal with all of that.
@@Hanja45 Nobody said it was LTTs fault. OP just said that the final price for EU customers is hard to justify and I totally agree. 250$ is already quite a bit of money for a backpack but considering the quality and features I could maby justify that cost. 360$ on the other hand is a whole lot more, that sucks and I assume it prevents a bunch of ppl in the EU from actually buying the backpack
Agreed! I think when u remove the one where he puts the towels in, it would be great for office! I have to pass this time cause the backpack is simply too big for me to daily drive. But i would switch if they do an office version.
Really well designed bag but personally I'd love to see a revision of the backpack with an external easy access pocket for water bottles. Might feel like a nitpick but that was the deal breaker for me even though I absolutely wanted to get this bag. All my other bags allow quick access to my water bottle on the outside so having to set this bag down, unzip it, take out the water bottle, drink and then put it back in seemed to inconvenient for me and ended up being why I didn't get it.
I'll add my side being that I don't mind it. I don't know any bags that I can reach my water bottle from my backpack without having to at least shrug it off of one shoulder anyway, so the small extra step in having to partially unzip my bag doesn't bother me. And I even prefer this design for something I'm going to take on a plane so it's a more cooperative shape under the seat or overhead.
I never use the exterior holders because then the bottle gets stolen constantly. Also I pretty much always have to take it off to take the bottle out or put it back.
This bag is so awesome! If you ever open an EU shop, I'll get one the minute it opens! Sadly for now with shipping and import customs applied, it gets too expensive for me. I hope you can work something out in the future because I know there are a lot of EU boys (and girls) wanting your products but shying away because of the aforementioned reasons.
Exactly this, wanted to order it yesterday and that was the ONLY, yet big enough of an problem that made me not buy it even though have wanted it for being my main backpack. I almost have to pay the price of two backpacks to get only one of them after shipping / customs tax
Same here, I'm a bit sad, because I needed to replace my backpack and was waiting for this. I knew shipping costs would be added, but forgot about the taxes, and I just cannot justify 400 euros for a backpack. I really hope you guys will do well with this for the US market, and hopefully see a EU shipping center in the future... I'm just going to buy a basic backpack for now. Aside from that, unbelievable work on the backpack, every feature shown I was like: yes, they thought of that too (I bike to work, so the big compartment is great for doing some shopping on the way home, and also, the non sweat back... I was actually looking for this but couldn't find anything!) Cheers from the Netherlands, hope this goes great for you guys!
Yup, I put a backpack, bottle, and a deskpad, basically an order I was holding off on to wait for the backpack to arrive just to discover that shipping alone is almost $80, almost a third of the already steep price of the backpack. I'm fine with item prices, they look quite good, but damn it's a lot of money to spend at once, especially as this set is probably costing a monthly minimum wage where I'm from :(
Same when you want to order to the Middle East (Israel) i was really about to make the order i said 250$ its high but i can deal with it and then i. Saw the shipping cost and now i was talking about more then 50$ extra. Now i was like 3 days of work its too much
@@ironman12328 It says on the bag description that separate items would ship at a different time in the backpack meaning you’re buying shipping for both. I imagine the same goes for import taxes. The prices are what they are.
At $360 USD to buy, ship and import into the UK, I simply cannot justify the cost, despite this looking like such a good product. Add the 40oz water bottle to go with it and it's an eye watering $421 USD 😢
the only way to justify is if you do a lot of traveling. it seems like it'd genuinely last your entire life with how damn sturdy and well thought out it is.
@@earthling_parth Everything together with the bottle...so bottle + backpack. Tbf, it is the big boy bottle and the backpack is damn sturdy, but still not an every man type of purchase.
I'd compare it to a high end purse. Hell, my wife has several of those topping out over $200 each. I think I can probably be ok with a bag I use everyday for years costing that much.
trust me this is a good deal when buying high end back packs. quality is not the same from 100-200-300-500 it gets similar in the 300-500 dollar range. it also ends up being cheaper in the long run buy a 100 dollar bag every 3-5 years buy 300 dollar bag every 20. there was a saying being poor is expensive with the example that poor man buys 20$ boots every year for work while rich man spends 100$ once and it last 10 years and thats because the quality of higher end bags shoes etc shows in the longevity of the product. youll get your moneys worth out of this bag no problem and itll probably be cheaper for you over course of the life of the product.
@@zackmandarino1021 i had a bag in highschool that i spent 60 bucks on for myself my mother said i was nuts spending that much. i carried more weight in the bag as BOOKS (7 text books 7 notebooks pens calculator etc) on a 30 minute bike ride twice a day every day until i got my licence and had the same bag for 3 years. price is not indicative (always) of quality while i do think this is an awesome product i think they've missed the price point by about $100 and even then it's on the upper end of scale of what many would consider reasonable for a younger person
i've already ordered one. I was looking into getting a bag when it was announced, and with how they have over made this to the point that i doubt even i could break it, and how i want to support this channel i chose to wait for this. sure it may be expensive... well over twice the price that I was looking for, but from what ive seen so far i think it will be well worth the price in the long run.

I've got their new pro hoody and a couple other apparel on the way and looking forward to seeing the quality in person. Yes this backpack isn't revolutionary, only time will tell as the reviews stack up then you can sorta get an idea. For now I can see the pricing is higher than most would be comfortable with but they have r&d costs to recuperate. I'm no fanboy, far from it. I'm just always rooting for competition, good localized support and most of all a good product for its price. @@jasonwu2758 I respectfully disagree with some points the both of you are making though, this backpack is meant to fill a niche. It's not meant for the average person. This is meant for a tech enthusiast. Literally everything he added to this backpack is exactly everything I carry in my swiss army backpack. Swiss army backpacks aren't cheap. But I like that this comes with dedicated compartments for the exact things I carry. Yes I am the type of person that travels with a switch, laptop and tablet all at once. This is a high quality product serving a niche. And of course this review is a ad, he is a salesman at the end of the day. It's meant to show the quality and care that has gone into making this product. I agree that the price is steep but it's also not meant to be a everyday person's backpack and he made that clear. I trust his reviews because I relate a lot to his complaints about products. It's almost as if I am literally the target audience. I see no faults with this.
This is the first thing I’ve bought from LTT because I’m so sick of spending a bunch on laptop bags that turn out to be trash. This one checked every single box I had, so it was a no-brainer to get it. Looking forward to it getting here
I absolutely love everything about this, from the space, the detail and care going into the design and materials... even the colour scheme is basically as it would be if I could customize it myself. It's my dream backpack... It just costs too much for me. Especially with shipping, import and VAT having it sent to me here in Norway, which would probably take the price up to $335.
Oi I found Efreeti in the wild :D But yeah same, the price is so big and with all other costs it would be way way too much. I wish for an LTT warehouse in the EU
If you want something similar, yet cheaper, get a Samsonite one, might have a few pockets less, but similar priced ones have built in USB sockets, wireless charging pads to use with power banks etc. Honestly, i was expecting more tech-like features from the backpack, especially at this pricepoint.
Yeah, with this kind of prices they absolutely need an EU warehouse so that you can see an end-user price and not price before tax and customs and whatnot, that you also have to do yourself (which is time consuming, annoying, and you don't know what the price will end up being).
It's a great thought out product. I'm sorely missing one small, but to me, crucial detail. No outside waterbottle/can holder (like a stretch mesh pocket). When I wear a backpack I often walk around in cities or in transit from train to bus or likewise. That is when I'll (while still walking) reach around the left of my body, grab the bottle, have a drink and put it back while not requiring me to stop to open a zipper :)
I have never had a bag where this worked at any price. Maybe that's just me? But I feel like my wrist needs to be at an impossible angle to get a water bottle from an outside pocket.
@@DanKaschel basically learned how to do this move in the army 😅 I mostly started by almost dislocating my shoulder, but I got more flexible as time went on 😊
While I think you're right from an ease of use perspective every backpack I've ever owned that I use the water bottle mesh has always been one of the first points of failure. They also don't accommodate large water bottles very well. While I think what they did is a compromise to everyday use it will hold up better in the long run as a result.
Hoping for EU shop at some point since customs can be a pain at times. Would go for bag + screwdriver and quite a few other things, and not even considering all the fun stuff hopefully coming from the lab :) Although I understand it's easier said than done but maybe sometime in the future if you get to grow more.
Agreed. I‘m happy to pay the shop prices, they clearly have thought a lot about it and generally the price is competitive to other premium options. But the shipping and import taxes just make buying from LTT feel bad, as you are just paying (often quite a lot) more money than people in NA for the same products. It‘s basically burning money. I‘m out until a EU (re)distributor is set up.
@@tagg8233 Agreed on this. @250 euros + shipping + taxes and customclearance im going to pay close to 350 euros. Which tbh isn't worth it. Especially when in that pricebracket there are better established brands. I'll wait it out as well.
same here, 55$ just for shipping a bag + imports taxes (which probably be the same, around 50/60$) is bonkers. I know they don't control shipping prices, that's why I hope for a EU Shop as well. This bag is so well thought out, I really wanted it.
This thing looks awesome, could literally pack just this for a short trip. It's a super difficult price point for me to justify personally, but glad to see a ton have sold already based on the info on the site.
I don't know why but I feel as if everything on the LTT store is heavily overpriced. Maybe its because I live in China where everything is really cheap while still offering good quality.
@@Voidstroyer or simply because it is overpriced. Import duties, fees, and small (relative) quantities of these all hike the prices in western markets but you have to account for some margin for it to be worth LTT Group's time. Plenty of wages to pay behind the scenes in setting up their merch and maintaining the shop.
@@Voidstroyer Are things made in China *for* China high quality? Things made in China for other places are usually notorious for cheapness, but it makes sense that domestic manufacturing would have higher standards.
I got this backpack for myself not that long ago. As a 6' 3" almost dad-bod dude, it just feels a bit small. Fits on my back pretty well, but I feel the straps are a bit small for my shoulders and kind of digs in a bit. But overall, everything else is pretty good so far. Especially since I tested it out recently on a flight and checked to see if it did fit under an airline seat. It really does fit well.
Been waiting for this for over a year! But it breaks my heart how crazy expensive it is to get it to Sweden. About 500$ when all taxes and shipping (not to mention toll charges) and I can't justify the cost 😭
Honestly Linus when I heard the price and how many issues you guys were running into I assumed, well its gonna be a nicer backpack with an 100$ LTT brand tax for people who want to support the content via merch purchase... I dont have it in front of me but from what your showing here I was wrong. This was well designed, thoroughly tested and looks to be one of those "life time" purchases. Well done. Props to both you and the team for bringing this to market.
This is exactly why I trust this channel. If they say it's worth it, it's likely BETTER than you can imagine. I held off getting Starlink until I saw exactly how it worked here
I used to go through a backpack every year as a kid in school. All those weak points gave out and my parents would just buy another one. I don't know if this LTT version would have paid for itself after high school, but with inflation maybe the prices on cheap backpacks are also increased.
I think the backpack looks great and seems extremely well thought out, but for $250USD I also can't find any information on any warranty outside of the 30 day return period. What if a strap, handle or something breaks - will there be any repairs/replacements? If so, how long into ownership could someone expect that to be honoured? Other backpacks in this price point (and sometimes less) come with lifetime warranties. Would be a bummer to drop this kind of cash on the backpack, have something happen in the first few months of ownership and be basically out of luck.
From a forum post about the screwdriver: “We've never offered any official warranty for anything on lttstore, but we take a very customer-first approach to any kind of quality or workmanship issue. It's possible we'll offer something more formal, but not sure yet. Our physical goods business is still secondary, and our general approach is to under-promise and over-deliver.”
I can only tell you that any time I've had an issue with an LTT store product, they replaced it immediately, no questions asked. A+ customer service in my book.
The support might replace it if it breaks because I bought a water bottle and 3 days of owning it I dropped it and the lid broke so I contacted support and they sent me a new lid for free even though I was the one who broke it (although the water bottle has been dropped and hit lots of times with the new lid and it hasn't broken so I think the old lid was a defect)
If something breaks on this from normal use, I'd be very surprised. And personal experience I'd be willing to bet my $390CAD if something goes wrong with my bag they will make it right.
@@proximitea I had that happen to me with a Swampletics mug. Dropped it carrying it to the sink in the box to clean it for the first time. Told them about it and they sent me it... well they sent me my whole order again lmao... but they sent me it again. I sent my spare tshirt to my brother. Unfortunately the mug is printed 180 degrees opposite of the handle but the thought counts.
That's a really good backpack, seriously all the ideas and thought processes behind it are astonishing. It's understandable that the price is so high but that's also the reason why I won't buy one (yet). I'm really glad though that companies are beginning to think "how can we make the most durable and best product" and not "how can we make a cheap product that the end user will have to buy multiple times"
I once had a Lululemon backpack that was similar to this in some ways and the price was only slightly cheaper. That one held up for a good amount of time but this one exceeds what I expected your bag to be released as. Ordered and excited to retire my other bags to daily drive this one.(they are all failing in the exact spots you mention.) I appreciate the design outside the durability as well, it looks like something that will still look "cool" through the years.
The backpack looks really well thought out and rugged, kudos. I really like the carabiner zippers, and the tag pocket. Seems great for tech nerds, travelers, and light hikers alike. That said, could there be a slimmer version in the future? Something, like 2/3 thirds of the depth just for the looks of it. Also, each pocket looks awesome, but if removing some of them got this bag to like $150 price I think that would be a banger product as well.
A photographer bagpack in your style would also be awesome. One with all the compartments for cameras accesories, but with more tech in mind, e.g. quad-copters, laptop, battery & storage banks etc. I think that would be a banger too. That one can probably stay at $250
@@AJL713 That would be a really cool product, but I don't know if there is a big enough market for it to be profitable given how much R&D money LTT puts into each product.
@@reywashere5284 You’re probably right 😅 Although, maybe they can save some on R&D by leaning on the knowledge connections they gained on the first go plus they could reuse some components like, the zippers, straps, and the materials used
OH yeah would definitely conisder getting a slimmer 'day' pack instead for going to work/uni. So I can get onto a packed train without looking like a P. 😹
I would like to see how some of LMG's big boys handle the fit of the backpack. I personally hate most backpacks cause I have broad shoulders and most backpacks are too narrow for a comfortable fit. This leads to digging in at the armpits and weight not being distributed over the whole of my back and centered on my spine. Anthony!! You are my size guru for all LTT merch.
Not just Anthony though, I want to see a variety of shapes and sizes. I have broad shouders but am pretty slim on top beyond that, then I (currently) have a bit of a beer gut. A lot of backpacks end up chafing between my arms and sides of my chest/stomach, or just not sitting nicely at my back. They really should just do a photoshoot with all (post-probation) employees that are willing, and just post all the pics in a thumbnail gallery in a separate section on the store page. That way they're not offending anyone by picking specific people for their specific shape, and it massively increases the odds of us finding someone with a similar body type to compare with. A little honest
@zee It's either "I'm just a TH-camr doing small projects" or "I just spent millions on buildings with zero direct ROI, we have the best team in the world and we are a media/fashion company". Linus is doing ping-pong between the two depending on the argument. LMG is not a solo TH-camr doing merch on the side. If they want to act like a real company, they should at least offer the most basic warranty. It's probably the only reason they don't have a warehouse in Europe.
@zee They don't present themselves as a media company selling merch (anymore*). Even Linus clearly stated on the wan show that he wants it to be a dedicated fashion company and leave the simple merch side aspect on the side. If you want to make the "best backpack in the market" and compete with reputable brand, the least you can do is offer basic warranty. Especially if your competitors offer lifetime warranties and have years (if not decades) of trusted reviews to back them. It's not even branded LTT/LMG, how can you see this as merch? And even if that's "just merch" to you, how can you say "it's fine to not offer basic warranty on an item costing 249$ when it is marketed as the best in the world"? Linus is not "just a youtuber", it's media company pulling 20 million dollars in revenues in 2019, which I'm guessing has increased by quite a lot since then. It's not one guy in a small appartement somewhere making less than minimal wage. They have the money for the warranty, they just don't want to spend it and hope the consumers won't care. Thankfully for them, Canada and the US don't care too much about consumers either so you guys have zero laws in that regard. Selling the same backpack anywhere in Europe would require a three years warranty. Usually when the company's main selling point is that the item will last a lifetime, they have the decency to back it up with anything else than "trust me bro, it will". And the argument of "if you don't like it, don't buy it" is stupid. Linus keeps on bashing any company that doesn't offer good warranty on their products (like Apple) but he puts himself in the perfect position to do exactly the same...
@zee He bashed companies with bad warranties plenty of times in the past. Implied warranty doesn't mean much, it depends on where you live (states in both the US and Canada enforce it differently, the EU probably won't be able to do much here) and you'll have to go to court to enforce it. There is zero valid reason not to have a warranty on a product you market as "best in the world". Zero. The only invalid reason is that he wants to get as much money from the consumer as he can hoping the consumer don't know much about their rights. This is extremely anti-consumer behaviour, regardless of how much you and I like his content. You can not care about it, that's your choice. But don't hide behind "it's fine, there is implied warranty" that pushes back the burden on the consumer, not hide behind "it's just a youtuber" because that is not the case. LMG is a huge company, they can afford warranty, and the excuses (like "I don't want Yvonne to have the deal with that if I die") behind not having one are shit and Linus knows it very well. He stated multiple times that LMG is not your friend, I think this is the perfect example of this. They want to make as much money as possible (good for them) hoping people won't ask too many questions. At this point, the backpack is basically a kickstarter. Put your money on it if you want but don't except much in return, it might be great, it might break in three weeks, you might get a replacement, you might not. Just to add, I hope LMG will deal with warranty issues fair and square even without an explicit and written one. I won't spend 300$+shipping+import taxes to find out by myself though. EDIT: Did you really blame the EU for having "useless arbitrary laws" for warranties? The EU is the only body that tries to do something for the consumer (sometimes not too well) like with the GDPR, warranties, right to repair, forcing a single standard for charging port and more. The US and Canada do nothing for that, they barely care about it in their own market let alone internationally. Backpack absolutely breaks, especially when made by a company that have no track record or experience making one. It's just a piece of fabric is not an excuse for skipping on a warranty. Especially a backpack like this one, marketed as "best in the world". At least in the EU LMG would have to make sure it would last three years. You can damn hope for a refund in 2.5 years in Canada when your right straps break out of nowhere, and LMG don't have any backpack in stock, nor the mean to repair it. Again, LMG is not your friend. You have near zero protection as a consumer, the least you could expect is a written warranty for a year. The fact that it seems normal to you is beyond me. And the fact that this backpack, or the screwdriver, isn't sold in the EU is clearly because they don't want to deal with a real warranty, not because it would cost them too much money. I've seen random aliexpress sellers with EU warehouses and better warranties than this, it is laughable.
Got Backpack number 2 at the pop up sale last month. I have been using it every day since then and I absolutely love it. The pack holds so much stuff comfortably and is very comfortable to wear. I rate it 7 out of 5
This looks like a fantastic travel bag, and I love the attention to detail, and I genuinely might grab one since my travel bag is starting to show signs of age. I think this is just a bit too large, especially as someone with a smaller frame, for me to use as an everyday bag though. I would love to see a similar amount of love for more of a slim EDC/Commuter/Office backpack, and would 100% daily drive the bag if it has similar levels of durability.
Agreed, a half depth version would be great, especially if it was then half the price... I just need a regular lappy, a few dongles and cables, a No2 screwdriver and maybe an iFixit pack. No overnight bag needed. The last one I got of Kogan was US$18 delivered and is doing fine 2 years later.
Yeah, this is definitely the travel bag if you have loads of gear. Wonder how many people actually carry this much stuff? I could do with a half depth version as a travel bag and one third version as a every day normal laptop bag.
@@nekoroms nope, this isn't a camera bag, I spent years as a professional photographer and I have camera bags, they have a lot more protection for lens and bodies than this. You can also way over pay for camera bags if you want as they are much more a niche product than laptop bags. I am not saying this is not a great laptop bag, but I am saying I wouldn't pay USD$250+ for any laptop bag when there are some pretty reasonable bags around that suite my needs at a massive price differential. If I lived on the road then maybe this would be on the mark, but I don't.
Yeah for a smaller person I would think this is too bulky for an every day pack. I really wish there was a pad at the bottom as I toss my pack around a lot. And as I posted not having a laptop strap to keep things form sliding out like they did in the video is a huge miss,
Me when Linus first announced a backpack: Omg wtf why does anyone need this?! How can you improve upon a backpack. Me while watching this video: omg why has no one done this before?! This is incredible and revolutionary! I keep forgetting how anal retentive and perfectionist Linus is and it REALLY comes in handy and shows with the products he makes. Well done Linus and team! Not sure I’ll be able to afford it anytime soon, but mine is about 15 years old and showing some wear.
Mine is about 5 years old and showing some wear, but I am a motorcyclist, so my bag sees a lot of abuse. But I use my bag in a very similar fashion to Linus (e.g. overnight/laptop/devices), so all the extra pockets don't have a value to me. Now I'm pondering, at 1am, if I *really* need a ~$300 (after tax/shipping) backpack.
@@DraakjeYoblama I have a Swiss bag from the 2000s I still use that retailed for around $80 and can probably give this bag a run for its (my) money. Premium bags are definitely a thing, but that price point is just....something else....
A bit superlative there. Many of these things have been done before. You just needed to go towards the more premium end of the market (not designer). I'd say the only real differentiator is three (and a half) protected device pockets. Most have two (and a half - maybe).
Finally got my backpack, starting college at 24 years old next month, this is my ultimate tech/school backpack. It's built so nicely I took my Steam Deck and Switch out of their cases and put them here. Can't think of a single backpack I'd have that much confidence in.
Looks like a really neat backpack!. I had a look at it when I received the email about it being in store, but sadly it's just too expensive to ship and import to EU :(
@@TT_PLEB purpose built bags can cost much more than 250$. This bag is built to last so you probably wouldn't need a new one for many years. Another point is that the LTT team worked many many many hours on the design, going through test unit after test unit. They need to make their money back, lol! Although I agree on the shipping cost, that's outside of Linus' control. But still, +150$ just to ship and import to Sweden is absurd
I believe you have just accidentally created the PERFECT backpack for DJ's/ Music Producers, this directly rivals similar offerings from the "industry standard" companies (UDG & Magma)
100% i've had so many UDG bags fail on me over the years in all the places linus mentioned, people only buy that brand because all the top DJ's are sponsored by them, i've had better experiences with Magma bags but they still have their faults... however this LTT one looks like it solves every problem i've ever had, but i guess only time will tell
Not a DJ but I don't think it was accidental, it's optimized for carrying devices and cables which I'd think is what you need, which the LTT "others can make it cheaper so make it better" approach to quality.
I was actually thinking of getting something like a "plug in" for the big compartment to hold my audio stuff. It would be hilarious if I could safely store my headphones retaining their shape as well as have the connectivity potential to put in a chonky power bank, a Rasberry Pi, a small AP (probably inwall variant), and maybe another "plug in" for cable routing and extension
This is the first bag I've seen that I would want more than my current Swiss Gear bag! If only it didn't cost so much... But if mine finally bites the dust, which I don't see happening any time soon, this is top of my list!
I was thinking the same thing I have a travel friendly swiss pack that is basically this pack without the removable pieces and was $120 but $100 on sale. Unless Swiss has a better deal I'd keep this on my radar as a replacement.
I placed my order minutes after receiving the email. I have literally never bought anything as quickly as this backpack. I have been shopping for a new backpack for months! Every backpack I have looked at has felt cheap for the price or just flat out doesn’t cut it despite the price. I event went as far as to just giving up on finding the perfect back and was going to settle on a name brand bag that hit about half of what I was looking for. After watching this video on the final version of the bag, I am already confident I made the right choice. I want to congratulate the team who worked on this and all of LMG for listening to their audience and creating something that is not only stylish, but might damn well be one of the best backpacks ever freaking made.
It took them a LONG time and a LOT of revisions and thus a LOT of money to bring this one to market. Making a smaller one, even with the lessons they learned from making this one, will probably take just about as long. I suspect they would be open to the idea but they need to recoup their investment into their original backpack and screwdriver before they even consider making another type of bag.
I as well hope for the man purse version. I trust linus to be as anal as possible on making this bag, but it is a bulky boy for bulky boy purposes. The backpack that I've used for the last 10+ years is the Think Tank shape shifter (original version). Basically a photography backpack that expands when you have big loads and zips in two layers to be really thin when you're not. Long from the perfect backpack it allowed for having both big and small needs.
@@noyanky44 Yeah I'd be happy paying just as much for this bag but without that big "pocket of holding" in the middle as 99% of the time I don't carry that much. I don't mind the price, I'm all about buying quality items infrequently rather than lots of cheap crap but its a little too big for me. Not keeping many people away, though, given they've already sold ~9000 of them at time of writing. Downside is the cost and extreme attention to detail they put into these products means a slimmer variant would be a long process
I am just about to start a new job that this backpack would be a godsend for, but it would be over £300 by the time it gets here and I just can't justify that, especially at the moment. I would rather spend the money on a Steam Deck (but I can't justify that either atm LOL)
@@kelvin1316 Check out the Swissgear backpacks. They are mass produced so are considerably cheaper. They're not as tough as the LTT one (triple rivets!) but I had one that lasted for years and has many similar style pockets and features.
@@Ryaninja adding to that, Osprey make some really good stuff for commuters as well as hikers now. And at a much better value than the LTT bag - gotta love economies of scale.
I kinda love it, but find it hard to justify $250 for a backpack. I've bought 3 backpacks over the last 15 years and what I've wanted out of a backpack has changed each time and seeing as I've spent about $40 each I haven't felt too guilty about changing them around. First one was for school and I didn't want it too big so I wasn't carrying around too much. Then I got a larger one so I could carry more travelling. Wore that one out and when I got my new one I got a similar size one but with better internal organization (and fewer external pockets, didn't really use them on the last one).
I tend to pay a lot for backpacks, but I know what I want out of them (usually), and they are usually very rugged in design and build so that they last a long time. But they're also all for different things. The only ones that I don't like are the ones I didn't buy myself, but were gifts.
Yeah it's a hard sell when it's twice the price of a Milwaukee tool backpack. They're certainly not known for being the cheapest option However I could see this being very useful for an IT/AV technician or manager who does a lot of interstate work via flights.
@@Shemegory Even as someone who doesn't typically like this style of backpack, I can see a lot of value in it. The price makes it definitely a hard sell, but I can see it.
@@ShadeSlayer1911 i put it at 120-150 tops id go 200 max if they did a rock solid say 5 year warranty on it or maybe a 10 year if as linus says its designed to last 10 years but 300 is a joke even the big name bags don't go that high and there charging you mostly for the label
@@Sarge92 I think my most expensive bag is my 5.11 Rush 100 backpacking backpack, and that one came in at just over 200. But most of my bags barely break 100, if even.
Linus going through every detail with all of LTT Store items, like it's something we would do if we put together a one of a kind special order item, shows how much he cares about his customers, his brand, and people's belongings. Thank you Linus!
I'm desperate to buy LTT stuff, and would be more than happy to spend a lot on it as its all built well and to last, but it's almost impossible while being in Europe with the shipping and import. I feel like they need to sort out partners to actually deliver the merch instead of making more and more for just North America. Surely they can see the amount of profit potential there would be?
On their end they’d still have to ship and host product there, and without anyone having pre-bought it which is a lot more money to tie up to do that in two separate locations with two different logistics teams. I also personally feel like Linus would also be going crazy not being able to oversee that second warehouse himself. The reality is LTT is in Vancouver and it’s one of the farthest places they could be in general NA away from Europe, and they’re not a mainline retailer.
There are companies that do nothing else but offering this as a service. Importing stuff from LTT store (and really anywhere else outside Europe) really is a PITA.
We need an ultimate backpack showdown series now. Take all the “best in tech” out there and compare, better yet, send the bag to those competitors and let them make the judgement. Peak Design EDB + Tech Pouch versus LTT Bag, fight!
As an owner of the peak design bag for 6 years, these are for completely different target groups. For example in uni, media students like me had the peak 20l and game programming/art/design students had huge backpacks for their gaming laptops. Not a fair comparison. Also Peak has years of R&D advantage. But I am sure someone will do a comparison in the future...
As someone who spent $300 and $100 on two Goruck backpacks this looks to be a well built and very well thought through backup. Gorucks have a military design behind them and they are focused on being tough. I love the laser focus on the problems the backpack is looking to solve. I don't use the big goruck one very often but I daily drive the smaller and it's...fine. it's not really focused on carrying and protecting a laptop. Would love to see a slimmer version of the LTT one for people with less tech to carry. Anyways looks like a great product and if I am ever in position where I need to carry a lot of tech I will be buying one.
sadly too expensive for me (and seems a bit bulky to be honest) but very happy to see it out and i hope it will open the door for much more from lab and creator Wearhouse.
Between this and the screwdriver there's a lot of needed engineering going on at LTT, this is exciting and I can't wait to see what you'll come up next.
This has to be the one backpack to rule them all. can't wait to get mine. Keep up the great work making products that are so well thought out and high quality.
@@c.j2527 I paid more than $250 as I'm in Australia and our dollar sucks. Sometimes quality costs money and for me I'd rather buy something that cost more and know it will last more than 6 months. Life lesson, never buy cheap shoes, bags or toilet paper.
@@danthomas6125 yeah i agree with something but not this. i understand quality costs but this is gouging. if you can throw money at things. good for you but i value my money more then being a fan of linus .
Not going to lie. I haven't watched this until now and I'm actually very surprised by the functionality and convenience of this backpack. I had massive doubts when I saw that $250 price tag. I understand the price now with how much thought and engineering went into this bag. Now I want to get one. Great job Linus and the whole team!
I've never run to an online store so fast in my life. Bro is literally innovating. FINALLY. A BACKPACK THAT ISN'T FAULTY GARBAGE. Like brother you have no idea the SERVICE you and the team have just provided to me. HOLY SHIT the millions of tech things I carry around in my backpack. If little high schooler me knew that the day would come when his favorite tech TH-camr would solve half of his life problems - like holy cow! THANK YOU.
I love how over the years, since I started watching LTT(~2016). Linus has managed to build amazing brand and really grow as CEO and understood his role in the company... Kudos for that, many CEOs have much to learn from you.
The only thing I don't like is his brand is "Tech Tips" and has his name on it. I feel weird sporting a brand that isn't more cool sounding and promotes an actual individual. While we're on the topic of backpacks, Osprey sounds much cooler brand name than "What Kind of bag is that?" ... "Oh, it's LTT". ... "What's that stand for?" ... "Linus Tech Tips." ................
@@SeraphX2 he already talked about having his name moved away from the company in a Wan show couple months ago his plan was to have it as LTT only not an acronym just LTT, a precedent of this is DotA an old mod for Warcraft 3 which means Defense of the Ancients after Valve got the rights its simply named Dota as the actual name no acronym to it.
@@newbietricki239 ok. so then people will invariably ask what it means and you just say nothing. that's even dumber and still not cool lol. that didn't alleviate my issue at all. haha

For the record "the pocket of holding" is why I was waiting for this. Honestly that, the quality, and the electronics pocket was something I haven't been able to find in any other backpack. You got my money happily. Thank you for making a backpack for road warriors.
this looks like a perfect backpack for me since i carry alot of devices around at college, just not sure about the $250 price tag as well as the bright orange interior. an option that was maybe a more modest grey on the inside rather than this super bright LTT orange would be more preferable
The little zipper to retreive your tiny stuff in the front pocket sold me on this. Not because it's a killer feature, even tho it can be very usefull, but, when you see very well done details like that, you know the product has been made with passion, care, knowledge and the desire to put the best product possible. I'm all for it.
Can't wait to buy the super nice overengineered screwdriver too........but it's almost $100 😩 Maybe next year when they have both in stock and I have 400 bucks to blow.
Some critiques (based of the video alone): First, this is more of a daypack or weekend pack and less so a backpack. Would LOVE to see the love and attention the team poured into something slimmer for a proper everyday carry. (targeting 6 to 7" depth instead of the 11.5") This was clearly made for the North American traveling market. Europe's travel sizes are comically smaller. A proper gap at the bottom of the electronics compartment to protect them from placing a heavy bag down on a hard surface. (or have Linus give a better demonstration of the internal webbing). Beyond that I think you guys nailed it. The craftmanship is probably top tier. It's the creature comforts you've added that will make this product shine above and beyond.
I love everything about this backpack except for the size. For the smaller people out there like myself who use 14” laptops and don’t need that much space, please make a 14-20L variant with the same durability & layout! So tired of lugging around a giant backpack. Would buy it in a heartbeat
I’m going to grab one as a travel pack. It seems completely perfect. For a daily driver i just use a little slim boy, but when I fly I hate taking luggage, so a carry one and a backpack is my approach. But I never have “enough” backpack. This seems like it will be perfect for me. And then I can more easily justify the cost as it basically saves me a crapload of luggage cost money anyways $35-$50 a flight? Adds up to this backpack real quick
@@beau-urns It absolutely makes a great travel backpack, and I might still pick one up for a camera + drone bag for smaller projects when a big pelican case isn’t necessary. I especially appreciate that the large section is totally separate from the cables/stationary/smaller organization pockets. Perfect for ND filters and batteries and such. But this is just too big to be my daily driver for the office
An honest question: would you buy it if it were the same price? I've run into this before with thinking I'd save money on something because I went with a smaller size, but it's often not the case. If all of the same number of pieces need to be cut and sewn, all of the same hardware pieces have to be sourced and attached, the labor is 100% identical, so the only savings might be 1-2% in overall material for the slightly less amount of fabric and possibly a zipper than might be 2" shorter. The same way they can charge the same amount for the two sizes of water bottle, because the manufacturing process and lids are identical, and the small difference in aluminum wasn't enough to warrant a different price. I feel like that would be the case here, as well. I think it's partially why compact phones aren't super popular, because there's just not enough material savings to make a big-enough dent in the price.
@@necrojoe I’d definitely still consider it at the same price. Look at Arc’teryx for a perfect example of how smaller doesn’t mean a lower price. It’s expensive to make something durable and small and lightweight
You should consider though, Linus is a smaller person, too. So it might not be quite as bulky as it looks here on video. I think it was a bit of strategic mistake not getting Jake in there for a for free seconds and slapping the pack on him.
Put my order in the moment the auto-refresh showed 9700 units remaining. Been waiting for this all year (and the screwdriver too). Keep it up guys, y'all at LTT (warehouse, creator studio, floatplane, etc) are awesome and I'm happy to support you guys!
lol I've been feverishly refreshing the store page. Nearly had a heart attack when it updated XD around 9800 orders left when I placed mine, been watching the available number of units drop like a rock all evening. Under 500 at time of writing, not gonna last the hour I think.
OH MY GOD, As I watched this video you systematically covered everything I have wanted in a bag and fixed issues I have hated in others. I can't wait to get my order in because this is amazing.
@@AlejandroBonillaBeeche Linus briefly mentioned in the video why there isn't a pad. The way the pockets are stitched make it so the items in the pockets don't even touch the bottom. They sit in sort of v shaped wedges made by the stitching. It's actually safer for the devices with this design because there's no padding to breakdown over time.
Nice design but I got some idea maybe for the next generation of linustechtips backpak. I'm a college student that daily drive or should I say rides motorcycle to campus. So, a good quality backpack with great ergonomic, function, durability, weather and shock protection is a must from me. First, weather protection. It's essential from where I came from since it rains a lot and most people uses motorcycle to go to work, and we've found the best solution. RAIN COVERS! It's so light, compact and more effective than any other premium waterproof material since it create another layer so condensation from the rain have another layer to go through before it reach your devices. Removable rain cover with its own dedicated compartment in the bottom also help your backpack clean since you only need to wash the rain cover rather than the entire bag and separate your dirty covers from the inside of your backpack. a rain cover also mean covering your bag to any other means of damage like dust, dirt or oil when you're exposed to the weather. For ergonomics, this 35 liters backpack is going to be very uncomfortable to carry since it doesn't have a HIP BELT. Other than motorcycling, I also go hiking a lot and I've carry 20, 30 pounds of stuff up and down mountains. Hip belt are a must to transfer the weight to your stronger bigger leg muscle rater than breaking your shoulder not having it. It also adds stability when you combine it with supporting rigid frame. Laptops especially gaming laptops weight a lot and surely can damage your spine in a long run if you carrying it wrong. If you dont like it, make it removable! you can also adds easy-to-reach pocket to your hip belt like carrier style hiking backpack to carry small but frequently used items like wallets, keys, lighter, or multitool. Another great idea for increasing the ergonomic of the backpack is to transfer heavier stuff closer to your back, by using COMPRESSION STRAPS so it doesn't tip you back if it's filled to the brim. It's great way to accommodate wide range of need and stuff without necessarily compromising ergonomic, an adjustable volume backpack. BACK SWEATS. the most effective way to get rid of back sweat I've ever tried when I hike is using a trampoline styled back system, let alone air, a wind breeze can pass your back easily using these bad boy, google it! Next, usability. Most of backpack here have built in battery pack hub so you can plug in your own battery pack to its built in slot in your backpack so you can plug your cable OUTSIDE of your backpack. So, you can still use your phone OUTSIDE of your backpack while you charging it with your battery pack INSIDE of your bag. This way, you can store your phone in your pants pocket where it belong, while charging it from your backpack at the same time. Mind-blowing right? Next. I notice a most of tech guy uses glasses including me because we stare our screen longer than we supposed to. Some backpack include a dedicated hard-shell compartment for glasses so you dont crush your glasses under all of your device. Nitpick and bells and whistles. You need to put external water bottle pocket, so if your bottle accidentally opened its not when it's inside your bag ruining all of your electronics. There's a whistle sternum straps buckle adding another functionality to your bag without breaking the bank. And your anti-shock system for laptop compartment could use elastic material so it reduces the momentum of impact for your laptop inside your bag.
And yeah I'm obsessed with bags, I have 6 backpacks in my dorm for any occasion and I wonder if there's a one thing fits all of my needs in one bag I would absolutely buy it
I really hope that some day, you will bring your store to the EU. I really want this and some other goodies but it gets pretty damn expensive with the shipping costs, tariffs and tax added. One man can dream...
It's not far off to get a school bag for $100. I went through 3-4 of these school bags. Wish I could have paid $250 for one that will supposedly last a decade.
@@jfkdownt yeah but if you are in Europe it's more like 350 to 400 with the extra shipping and import tax and that's just a little too much. For 250 for high quality I would do it directly.
you need to learn some tax reduction tactics :D I often order stuff to germany and import it to switzerland. Gives back the taxes and is free to import (below 300 eur i think)
@@alexruedi1995 That way is easy, I know, I've done that myself in the past when I lived in Switzerland for a short time. But that's basically just for sales tax. When you import some higher value item like this backpack you have to pay import taxes / tariffs which are a different thing. And who knows how much that ends up to be. (actually you should know about them as well as you are only allowed to take very limited numbers of alcohol, meat etc. into Switzerland or else you have to pay import taxes as well)
This looks great! I could have used this over my last 4 years of college, but if I end up carrying around a lot of stuff for work I'll definitely pick one up! (screwdriver I'm picking up day one though) Additionally - hearing the $250 price tag earlier sounded a little high, but after this video it 100% makes sense. This thing is made to last.
This bag is so ADHD-proof. By the time he talked about the front pocket being designed to open like that because you couldn't accidentally spill things open, I realized I'd never had a bag so completely designed for all the little ADHD forgetfulness costs in my life until now. Seeing this bag moved me in a way I didn't expect. Thank you Linus, for designing a bag for people like us.
Linus has moderate to extreme ADD and ADHD, so pretty much all of the products that they're going to be selling will be Linus proof because he is a significant part of the design process
The way he talks about the finer details shouts “I agonized over this decision over weeks and I hope its worth it to you”. Ordered, this level of dedication is a fantastic selling point.
Love it. I'm not really in the market for a new backpack but I do appreciate the considerations you've made here. I'm sure the R&D process wasn't cheap or without hiccups. I'd rather have something that lasts and costs 250 dollars than having something with the same price that's bought purely for "style" and which either you don't want to wear, or it just simply breaks, after a year or two.
There's one little thing you've missed, BUT it can be a detachable section in the big compartment. Something to carry a DSLR or mirrorless camera with one or 2 lenses... THAT would be the ultimate, multifunctional, lots of banana for scale backpack...
The pockets in the tech compartment could easily be used for that. Have 1 on the body of the camera (Depending on size, although if you're running a 500mm you're not using a tech bag). Then have one in one of the compartments you'd use for your laptop charger. Personally even if I was working I'd only need 1 body, maybe a spare, which could easily be held in this bag in several places, followed by a lens on one of the bodies, normally slung over my should tbf but it could fit in the bag; the other would be within the bag itself in the place he puts the power bank as I'd put mine in the front or side pocket tbf. A voila, problem solved. Also; if you're running and gunning such as in Motor-sport photography you're either going to have a camera harness, or one camera slung and the other stowed. This bag could easily accommodate this without being as big and cumbersome as some Manfrotto bags
I just got my LTT backpack yesterday!!! And I already have contructive criticism: 1) I miss having snaps over the pocket sleeves in the rear-half. I do not want my stuff, laptops, etc. to fall out of the backpack when the backpack tilts over. I want stuff secured. 2) The internal water bottle holder. I know this was a coin-flip of a decision, but I think it might have been better to have an expandable pocket to hold the water bottle. I use this spot to hold my small umbrella. I like the holder being inside the backpack since it gives an overall CLEAN look, but for quick access it is a pain to open the backpack to access the water bottle/umbrella. I still LOVE the pocket. 3) The front section of the backpack is huge, which I love! I think it might to great to create an "organizer' that is down facing and gives tall "slots". I know you have the tech sack, which I will order soon, but I think it would be wonderful to give users an optional SLIDE IN organizer that has verticle cublicles, so items can be slid in and out. Maybe the organizer if adjustable to people can add/remove sections or special pockets/holders. And when someone doesn't need it then it can be removed to allow larger objects.
I remember on Wan Show all of YT/Twitch chat were going off about the $249.99 price tag and at first I thought it was steep as well until this video cleared everything up and while I really don't have a use case for a backpack anymore I can see the reason for the pricing. The reinforcements on the points of failure on normal backpacks are huge bc that's where both my middle and high school backpacks failed were the point where the strap was sewn to the bottom of the bag. Plus the sheer amount of space and the way it was designed around carrying electronics safely is huge. All in all I can tell you and your team put a shit ton of thought into every single detail of this backpack Linus and even though I don't have a use case for it I will prob still pick one up bc you never know when you will need it.
totally, i saw the cost of 250 usd and im like, yea ok, i can see it from all the engineering that went into this, plus quality materials, like this backpack could easily last 10+ years, and if you go through a pack a year at say 40 dollars each, that adds up quick, AND its already apid for itself if it saves your electronics , so ... yea if i needed a backpack id definately get one, my husband might want a pack though,
Yea 250 for a bag that big, if it is quality, is fairly priced in my eyes. My question is if it small enough to qualify as your second bag/item for carry on.
@@lejoshmont2093 the website says it should meet most airlines requirements but... does not list the actual dimensions, just says it's 35 litres external volume (25 litres internal because of all the padding). So probably but... obviously depends which plane you are on. Hopefully they'll add the actual dimensions for those of us who like, you know, clear information as opposed to vague stuff.
Dear Linus. You almost single handedly helped me get my CPA. I watched your cable management guide over and over again and other videos of yours in the NCIX days and early LTTdays almost as ASMR while studying every night. It became my good luck charm back in the day and the positive feeling from your videos always kept me motivated to achieve my goals. If/When you go public you bet I will be supporting you but will start with this backpack - G from Van
Think he said on a podcast they'd probably never take LMG public and would really have to evaluate even private investment since Linus is kind of a (self-professed) control freak lol. For sure with Linus and Yvonne at the reins I'd invest in it tho
a stealth version would be amazing, black exterior and dark grey interior. would lend itself really well to this aesthetic with the outside looking as good as it does!
This is literally the backpack I always wanted. It checks every box on my list and exceeds it. If I have enough money and can justify alle the import fees to Germany I will definitely buy it
Wife got this for my birthday. Arrived a week ago and I've been daily driving it for work. I can literally keep all my work stuff in here and switch/DND gaming accessories. If you lost your office to a nursery recently this bag is life changing.
This looks like a great bag! The only thing I can think of to add would be load-lifter straps like the sort used for backpacking, and detachable waist belt (Could go through the luggage strap area). So if you are really carrying some Heavy tech, you can adjust/distribute weight between shoulders + hips for comfort.
Custom carabiner with a laser etched logo aren't expensive. Quality bags cost money because of the work it takes to stich them together. This bag is still a bit over priced but as they aren't a backpack company like mystery ranch it's a tad understandable.
I would love to get the Backpack, and for me it would be totally fine for 250$ with those features and sturdyness. But with the 70$ shipping Fee and the Import Taxes that I would have to pay, It'll be about 450€ to get the Backpack and a Water Bottle. This is more than what I pay Rent for my 452sq ft Apartment (Yes, Housing in Germany is cheap). Unless LTT gets a Warehouse in the EU, so that Shipping is a bit cheaper and we don't have to pay Import Taxes, it'll sadly be a pass for me...
Same for me, I also wanted to buy one since my quechua bag is showing some age since I bought 2017. It was expensive as well with all the things I wanted to buy with it. EU warehouse please.
I use a Wenger pegasus, and this is the first backpack I've seen that looks like it can compete with it, although at twice the price. A couple of the features hereI prefer though - the squared off shape is super important, so many bags have rounded tops that cut down the space and give no benefits. The carabiner zipper ties are a work of genius.
I'm seriously considering this for my next photography bag. Has pockets in the couple places I know I'll want certain things (flashlight, memory cards, business cards, etc), volume for my bigger stuff that I had to relegate to a pelican case with my current bag, and the extra stuff I'll just be finding a use for lol Really crossing my fingers this explodes in popularity LTT can expand their lineup to "trade bags" that focus on having features specific to tech-y jobs. A camera bag would have a side zipper for direct camera body/lens access, an IT bag might have a pocket dedicated to a big chunky charging brick with port access or a tiny zippered door for running cables, or a streamer/action bag could have hard mount points on the shoulders for gopros and a (stronger) strap on the sling for mounting a phone to record like a chest rig. I dunno, spitballing ideas here but I'm excited :]
Even just a smaller bag would be great, imo. I don’t need something as big as this and would easily buy something of this quality to carry my laptop/iPad and a mirrorless camera around.
I was thinking the same thing while watching the video! If I got one I'd love to turn it into a camera bag. My current bag is way too small for my lens, filters, extra memory cards, and the camera body itself. Plus there appears to be enough attachment points for me to add on my tripod bag on the side.
@@mafiahalo93 swiss gear doesn't make camera bags from what I can tell. And buying the LTT one supports not only a favorite creator, but also someone who actually gives a shiz about creating good products. I also don't think you have any grounds to determine that it'll be "pretty much the same quality" given they're not shipped yet. But yeah, I'm not blindly buying it, I'll be waiting for the LTT video showing them stress-testing it, and then I'll check out independent reviews after.
3:44 Unfortunate that the change between the double layer of the sample to the single layer of the production happened without getting caught. Wonder if that's fixed for the new backpacks now.
This is the type of bag that would've probably stayed with me my entire elementary/high school/college career. Everything here would've been perfect for everything I'd use it for. I already back-ordered it. I just wish that it would come in time for my trip to Europe in 18 days. I'll have to settle for a different bag in the meantime.
Awesome that it finally got released, I’m considering getting one but I’m a bit apprehensive about the location of the water bottle holder, I prefer for my water bottle to be outside easily accessible. I’ll wait for some more third party reviews but I’m definitely considering it.
I’m on the fence about ordering one. I love the look and the quality, but it looks a little bulky for why I normally carry. I guess my question for anyone that already has one is: when not packed completely full, does the backpack compress down pretty good or does it hold that super thick look even when it’s not full? I’d love a smaller version of this same backpack at maybe $200.
Linus talked about this on the WAN Show and said the bag was designed to hold this shape so it can stand on its own. Compressing it would cause it to lose this functionality so they even had to specially package it so it doesn't get flattened in shipping. There was a question about a "backpack lite" from a viewer and while there's no current plan for it, it would be brought up to the creator team.
as he mentioned in the video, they maximized the size based on what can fit under an airplane's passenger seat, to which I approve. The price though is too steep because LTT is small scale vs like Northface which is already a premium brand.
@@farrellbeast yeah I can't imagine they wont do a mini version in some capacity some day, it's a lot easier tweaking an existing design then starting from scratch, so much shorter development cycle, once they get some cash flow back.
He said on the WAN that this overpriced bag doesn't have a warranty bc he "doesn't believe in them" in case the product is a dud and wants to "protect his family" you know, the typical anti consumerism stuff
There are 3 things that i believe could use improvement: 1. Need an exterior water bottle holder. The clip on ones fly around too much, so a dedicated exterior water bottle holder is a must for quick but secure access. 2. The air-tag pocket needs a velcro strap to keep it from jossling loose. 3. I want the LTT logo on the back in orange letters ;)
The way they placed the bottled inside looks very stable and secure, but I worry about an accidental spill because of a loosely closed lid. I don't like the standard mesh water bottle pockets on most backpacks as they are flimsy. Also having a pocket like that removes the ability to open the pack wider. I would like 2 elastic loops at the bottom to carry a small umbrella outside the bag.
This is the definitive backpack for adults. All the little touches. So happy I was on the store earlier today looking at a new mousepad. Now I'll have a backpack, too.
That bag looks amazing and would dwarf my backpack entirely... But given the shipping costs and likely VAT costs adding a whole chunk of money onto the price I don't think I can justify it. Looks like a stellar backpack though
@@sammiller6631 half as long as this LTT bag? I doubt it. I've used it as a day pack for 3 years lol. The LTT bag is cool but the novelty of their products is getting to watch them go through the whole iterative design process fairly publicly. I'll probably buy their screwdriver 🪛, definitely not buying a backpack by them.
I’ve been searching for a tech focused bag that has everything I want and be good quality for years now and leave it to our boy Linus to come through. And the whole design philosophy about it being used as an overnight bag was the cherry on top for me as I often use my backpack in this manor as well. Placed an order so quick lmao.
@@mg5347 honest question because I've been on the hunt for a backpack: is there one that comes close to having the features of this one? disappointed by the lack of warranty on this one
@@christianrolls8902 Yeah that doesnt bother me as much as it could other people because I have been searching for a backpack like this for a good 2+ years now and haven't been happy with my options. Plus, I don't put a lot of strain/wear and tear on my backpacks. But I can definitely see no warranty being a huge turn off for some, if not most people. The price is definitely a bit steep for a bag, but if it is as high quality as Linus claims it should be worth it in the end.
I'd love to see another color way for this, but with how long it's taken for both this and the screwdriver, I doubt we'll see it any time soon. I've not personally been a fan of any of the orange merch, like the WAN hoodie, workshop jacket, or new LTT color block, but the ShortCircuit color schemes, like the ShortCircuit version of the WAN hoodie and color block and the new retro fleece, are great. I know it's only the internals of the backpack that are orange, but I'd love to see the purple and blue from the ShortCircuit hoodie or maybe the multi-nep / northern lights / RGB color scheme.

Where was this back pack 10 years ago, I literally ran across my middle AND high school with 25-30 LBS in my bag, and I went through a bag every year. This bag I could probably still use it today. Especially I can relate to so many of the key points Linus brings up / addressed. Literally above and beyond
wtf man
carrying that much weight as a youth will fuck your back up
Same here, carried a dufflepack all through middle and high school, only used my locker for my winter coat, finally retired the bag when the top handle started to fray apart after five years.
Dude 300$ to CH? I actually wanted one myself...
For me the 250 price + 50 shipping is just an eyewatering amount of money for a backpack as an average middle class Hungarian :(
Yeah, this is not for people who just want a good quality well designed backpack.

Just them selling a backpack instead of other type of bags is already their target market for people who carry a lot. They obviously have a market.
I think a slim version would be amazing too. I feel like it's a bit bulky for my personal use.
Maybe a collapsible variant? Expansion when you need it, low profile when you don't.
Agreed, this is a great stuff-everything-in-'er backpack, but that's probably a bit much for a lot of people who don't need to take that much to school or work
yup. look like school boy
So in other words, this whole backpack saga was just an excuse for Linus to make himself his perfect backpack😂

Agree completely. Would you buy a version with just one main compartment?
The problem is the market. they need to make a profit from this and plane travelers are always the best bet. In now and in the future.

One thing you learn from the military is onces = pounds and pounds = pain.
@@MrWjgonder pack light, freeze at night. Pack more, you'll be sore.
Those blade resistant bottoms are absolutely useless. They are just marketing.
None of that is as important as you make it to be. Special the knife resistant bottoms.

We badly need sensible international shipping, I totally agree.

This bag is impressive, I can completely understand the price tag given the effort that was put into it, but as other have said, a EU friendly shipping option would be really appreciated.
$50 just for shipping, and with import taxes, I'm now looking at a $360 backpack.
Is it me or are Europeans spoiled? This seems like a reasonable price for express air shipping of heavy/big stuff where I live.

I am paranoid of a water bottle leaking on the inside. If I can see it on thumb outside I’d be less paranoid
Totally agree. The one reason I’m not buying it. Wish they would add this.
@@c4sualcycl0ps48 Get a leak proof water bottle?
I never use the exterior holders because then the bottle gets stolen constantly. Also I pretty much always have to take it off to take the bottle out or put it back.
This bag is so awesome! If you ever open an EU shop, I'll get one the minute it opens! Sadly for now with shipping and import customs applied, it gets too expensive for me. I'd compare it to a high end purse. Hell, my wife has several of those topping out over $200 each. I think I can probably be ok with a bag I use everyday for years costing that much.
trust me this is a good deal when buying high end back packs. quality is not the same from 100-200-300-500 it gets similar in the 300-500 dollar range. it also ends up being cheaper in the long run buy a 100 dollar bag every 3-5 years buy 300 dollar bag every 20. there was a saying being poor is expensive with the example that poor man buys 20$ boots every year for work while rich man spends 100$ once and it last 10 years and thats because the quality of higher end bags shoes etc shows in the longevity of the product. youll get your moneys worth out of this bag no problem and itll probably be cheaper for you over course of the life of the product.
perhaps think of it as the last backpack you will need to buy, you add up all those cheaper ones each year or so and you quickly come to that price?

$250 bucks though, how do you find bags that are trash that only this very expensive one can do.
Same! The orange makes this perfect for me too, but alas! 😅 well built insane bag, but just can't really spend that at the moment.
You could probably hang the bottle with a carabiner from one of the straps, that's always been my goto.

I think if you would consider the amount of product flowing through an EU warehouse would make it highly profitable
Probably biggest issue is having someone they can trust with having such an inventory or the cost of paying someone else to maintain it.
This thing looks awesome, could literally pack just this for a short trip.
It's a super difficult price point for me to justify personally, but glad to see a ton have sold already based on the info on the site.

I used to go through a backpack every year as a kid in school. All those weak points gave out and my parents would just buy another one.
I don't know if this LTT version would have paid for itself after high school, but with inflation maybe the prices on cheap backpacks are also increased.
@@mastafull it would have, and will 1000% reduce landfills

Yes, please take photoshoots/videos with different size of people in the LTT team. Small and big sizes at least would be nice.
Wow, the warranty on this thing must be really good with how well it's made!

They're certainly not known for being the cheapest option
However I could see this being very useful for an IT/AV technician or manager who does a lot of interstate work via flights.

As someone who spent $300 and $100 on two Goruck backpacks this looks to be a well built and very well thought through backup. @@rahathasan819 Me, and anybody else who earns a multiple 10'000 USD per year.
Some critiques (based of the video alone):
First, this is more of a daypack or weekend pack and less so a backpack. Would LOVE to see the love and attention the team poured into something slimmer for a proper everyday carry. (targeting 6 to 7" depth instead of the 11.5")
This was clearly made for the North American traveling market.
And then I can more easily justify the cost as it basically saves me a crapload of luggage cost money anyways
$35-$50 a flight?

OH MY GOD, As I watched this video you systematically covered everything I have wanted in a bag and fixed issues I have hated in others. I can't wait to get my order in because this is amazing.
No pad at the bottom? That didn't break it off for you?
Why wouldn't you want to buy a $250 bag for €400?
It will cost only 30-50€ less even if there is an EU store. For the simple reason that LMG is not an EU company

@@alexruedi1995 That way is easy, I know, I've done that myself in the past when I lived in Switzerland for a short time. But that's basically just for sales tax.
And I already have contructive criticism:
1) I miss having snaps over the pocket sleeves in the rear-half.
I'm still considering to buying for the water bottle. The magnetic solution of Nomatic is awesome.

Has pockets in the couple places I know I'll want certain things (flashlight, memory cards, business cards, etc), volume for my bigger stuff that I had to relegate to a pelican case with my current bag, and the extra stuff I'll just be finding a use for lol
Really crossing my fingers this explodes in popularity LTT can expand their lineup to "trade bags" that focus on having features specific to tech-y jobs.
Trade specific bags are a cool idea.
@@shadow7037932 I'd love to hear more ideas from others, too, maybe it'll spark interest enough for them to pursue :D
@@SirPandaEsq It doesn't have warranty? Lol....
Kinda wanted the LTT Diamond Logo to be orange but they did mention they wanted merch to be stealth
Can get a patagonia 35L day pack with an aluminum plate back, exterior webbing and (four) pockets, laptop slot, all for half the price lol.
@@AustinWigley the patagonia will last half as long too
@@sammiller6631 half as long as this LTT bag?
FYI there is no warranty
Or you can get a name brand for half the price and comes with a warranty
@@mg5347 recommendations pls
Absolutely love the whole internal layout and the design choices to make it tougher. Bit the bullet and ordered it yesterday.
