    This was all I could think about as my dad made me mow my lawn just an hour ago. I wished upon an invention like this and here I am on TH-cam and found it! Nice work whoever you are!

    Well done.
    I had planned to build a similar device, but the town filled the ditch!!

    Currently trying to build me one but need a reach of close to 10 foot. Not sure what I am using is strong enough only time will tell. But mine has a winch so I can lower it as I need to. Hope it works good cause weed eating sucks

    No, I actually grew up in south GA, but I have lived in the FL panhandle since '65 except for some stints in the Air Force. Yes, this thing works well for me, it beats swinging an ax. Other things I have used it for are cutting up squares of sod, then dig it up with a shovel. I run it along the bottom of a chain link fence, cleans it out real well.
    Thanks for your comments.

    Thanks for checking in. To do the 360's that would require some engineering and expense. For what I use it for it serves me well. Thanks.

    Need a similar one. My ditch banks are 45°. I'm afaid lawnmower engine would be oil starved and throw a rod.

      Mine is on a pretty good slant and I haven’t had any problem.

    Originally I just had it clamped to the back of the mower. I bolted a receiver to the back of the mower, made it more substantial and took the guesswork out of where to clamp it.

    Ever since the city came by and dug the ditch deeper and steeper, I quit mowing it.

    I took a few pictures when I was building it a few years ago. I have since modified it and didn't take any pictures. The pictures in the video is basically what I have of the project.

    wow pretty cool! how do you like the gravely? Pnly thing the push mower needs are some swivel casters

    Title made me think you modified a lawn mower to cut a ditch into terrain; seems a little Rube Goldberg-ish. Appears to take more passes than just simply normal walk-behind.

      Check out my tree root cutter video. I am most proud of that one. I have fine tuned it since I first made the video.

    Why not remove handle from push mower? Better do something about that standing water. Mosquitos must be bad.

    what size engine is the small mower?

    • @Fortsand1
      @Fortsand1  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is a 5.75 hp Briggs and Stratton. Thanks for watching!!

    • @DOBERSTAFFIE
      @DOBERSTAFFIE 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hairma Cutma thank you for sharing a good idea. I thought the engine would be a little bigger, I have a 3.5 hp and just don't think it would be strong enough to do it with otherwise I would try the same, it just has no guts for cutting the thick stuff growing in the ditches round my place.

    Roundup can be sprayed from the same seat with alot less hillbilly looking attachments. lol

    • @Fortsand1
      @Fortsand1  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yep, I have sprayed Roundup out there many times and it is good for about 3 months. I have also used Triclopyr, an even more aggressive herbicide. I am the only person who is going to see it, so why do I care if it looks "hillbilly"???!!! You are evidently a 'HILLBILLY" since you recognized it, LOL!!!!!!!
