Dude you are a freaking genius. You should patent that and sell it. I’ve driven my zero turn grasshopper off into the pond a couple of times and had to pull it out twice with my UTV. I hate using a weed eater on my pond. Thanks for the video
I’d love to have info on this setup … people saying use a weed whacker obviously have never used a weed whacker around a large pond with thick weeds in 80° plus temperatures
Lol I treat ponds, had to come here to say I love you man that’s hilarious and ingenuity at its finest. Appreciate you not blowing the grass into the water as well. Keep it up 👍
You realize this is funny as hell. I will be tinkering with this, sez the guy who never lasts more than 100 feet of shore with the whacker, But YES a follow-up video on how to build it would be SWELL.
Slick ass snot! Do you have any close up shots of your setup? Thanks for the idea. I'm fixing to close on my grandparents farm. I was out there the other day Cleaning around the pond. I thought "damn, there's got to be a better way." I'm a metal fabricator, so this will be a fairly easy build. Thanks again!
just a couple heavy duty C clamps to hold it to the front end of your zero turn, hey what ever works! I have a 40 degree bank on my drive way that needs this idea.thanks for posting.
Great job! BTW, I don’t know if you have always been chased around by a bunch of yipping chihuahuas, or if the commenters in this thread just decided to have a go at you, but either way, you win !!! If you’d be willing to endure more potential asshat comments, I’d really appreciate a walk around video of your fabrication. I have 2 lakes on my property that I really hate doing the shore work on.
Makingthepush, thanks for the reply. This is a prototype I ginned up to see if it would work, and it did. I need to make a few improvements; bigger rollers, bigger casters, and a larger discharge opening. I plan on working on it this summer and will post it when I get it done. I put it up for a couple of buddies to look at and had no idea others would be interested. Attracting the knobs stupid comments was just an added bonus... I am fascinated by the morons.
That is so cool. The trouble with my lake is that the shore is not as smooth as yours. I can do like you done but the mower can not touch the ground. I do love the wrist design. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌👌👌👌😮😮😮😮😃😃😃😃😃😃😃
Know the feeling. I've almost put a mower into the pond a couple of times myself. A friend of mine put a brand new zero turn in his pond and the running engine sucked in the water and was cooked.
I love it. Work smarter not harder. Only 1 thing j would have done different. My lazy ass would have hired you to do it, while I sat in my rocking chair on the front porch drinking ice cold sweet tea
Fatboy LLC. When someone just makes an ad hominem attack it's usually due to feeling inferior or frustrated because they can't express themselves effectively. Poor RN. Being bottled up inside that confused cranium with no way to communicate with the outside world.
That's awesome. Can't believe all the hate you're getting. People can be real a-holes for no reason. I built something similar for my dad who has steep ditches that otherwise would have to be cut with a string trimmer. He's getting older and it was getting harder for him to cut the lawn. Check it out on my channel.
Mr Sittingduck thanks, I made it so the ditch mower and the boom arm comes off the the front of the rider as one with just a pull of a hitch pin. The only thing I would have changed if I had more time to build it would be casters on all 4 corners. Unfortunately we live half way across the country from each other so it will have to wait.
Darn - six year old video, but I'll ask anyway: Can we have schematics, instructions, pictures, build video? I want one of these! I NEED one of these! And what's up with 105,000 views only only 107 subscribers? That's just lame!
No. It is a very old mower, before mid-mounts. It is a bumpier ride. The one nice thing is it is good for mowing under fences and shoving the deck up under pine trees.
My papaw has a bush hog on a huge arm that reaches down the bank and cuts the grass, not sure what you call it lol but for the size of the pond this looks like it does a good job! Much better then getting wet grass thrown all over you from the weed eater.

have you tried a thicker string?
No crap!!! It’s a witch especially with high humidity
Looks pretty nice!
Man you're a genius. You should patent and sell those.
this is the exact design i had in mind and you gave me some more insight, thank you sir!
I’d love to own one of those, would definitely make life a lot easier
Slick & simple setup. I like your quick 2 point setup.
love the automatic rock repositioner as std equip. a rear discharge deck with a big engine could power thru those high weeds. nice idea.
Very clever!!!! Great work

This is a really good idea and simple design, I love it 👊
I want to know how you built that!
Great job. Wish you would have showed close up with explanations more of the build. Like the joint in your extension, I don’t see how that is made.
sure would like to see how you built it
Normally your creation would be overkill but looks perfect for that pond
I had the same idea for mowing the fence row across the ditch 👍
You realize this is funny as hell. I will be tinkering with this, sez the guy who never lasts more than 100 feet of shore with the whacker, But YES a follow-up video on how to build it would be SWELL.
Do you have any plans for this or could you make a video on it? I need this in my life.
Well done! I have the same issue but a smaller lake
Slick ass snot!
Do you have any close up shots of your setup?

This is amazing!
Thanks - hate weed whackers
Now this is something else hahaha. Never thought I'd see this
Very creative! Nice job!
Thanks. It was fun
Freakin’ awesome You may be the coolest guy in the world!! 👍🏼
hell of an idea. love shit like this :) great job!
Thanks!

I like that. Clever and simple
Pretty darn cool. Hoping I don't send you pictures of me and the mower in the pond, each year gets more challenging after 18 years. thanks!!!
Best design iv seen 👍
Very nice. You could market these things no one wants to weedeat especially when there may be a snake laying on bank
Neat rig that works well
Thats a good idea. Ive scared myself a couple of times when I nearly tipped or slid down into the pond the riding mower.
Know the feeling. I've almost put a mower into the pond a couple of times myself. A friend of mine put a brand new zero turn in his pond and the running engine sucked in the water and was cooked.
Nicely done.
I had to watch it again!!!!!!
Do you have any plans just wondering
I love it. Work smarter not harder.
Only 1 thing j would have done different.
My lazy ass would have hired you to do it, while I sat in my rocking chair on the front porch drinking ice cold sweet tea
Love it! Or we could hire the knobs to do it for us with a weedwacker...
Mr Sittingduck even better. 🤣
Shut up Fatso 🤐!
Richard Nixon somebody get their little feelings hurt 😢🤣

Patent it, call her "the moccasin". I can only imagine how many snakes have to dive into the lake as your mowing along .
Not too many snakes, but the bullfrogs don't like it ;)
Perfect for ponds
Just Get you a Flymo! Or a Hover Mower!
Awesome!
Very nice design!!!!

Just watched your video. Nice job. like the solid way you have it mounted to the mower. I'm sure your dad's old knees appreciate it.

3:59 sounds like the mower died
Good way of cleaning the deck
Do you have any issue with oil starvation on the steep bank?
No problem with oil in the engine over 3 seasons. Just bought the cheapest mower at the Farm Fleet store they had
;)
Are front deck mowers worth it? Anymore expensive than mid mount zero turn?
No. It is a very old mower, before mid-mounts. It is a bumpier ride. The one nice thing is it is good for mowing under fences and shoving the deck up under pine trees.

Sure is better. And I get to sit down which seems to irritate some people. Oh well.
lol, this is great. Faster is always better.
My point exactly. I'm happy with it. Thanks for the comment
Thats amazing
You couldn't build a similar setup with a weedeater?
Weedeater: Handheld, flexible string and maybe 1HP. Modified mower: Hardened steel shaft with a re-sharpenable steel blade and 4HP.
He man the weed wacker is helpful sometimes
Nice. Maybe putting bigger wheels on the extension mower?
yea - great suggestion - this was just a prototype. When it falls apart I will put bigger casters on the next one.
Mr Sittingduck might also want to find a pressure lubricated motor to help with slopes and make it last longer cool idea none the less
Great idear.
nice
A fly mower would do well in that environment.
lol, the cats are out tonite
Sure would beat the hell out of weedeating it bet its slower tho
What about a weed whacked?
20 min vs 4.4hours thats why
Definitely easier but a weed eater would be way faster
How many snakes have you hit
Snakes actually jump in the water. It's unbelievable how fast garter snakes swim!
What a hassle. I drain the pond
Then don't buy a place with a pond? We enjoy the wildlife attracted to it. To each his own brother. Peace
Junk
A weed wacker does the same in a quarter of the time and you left spots everywhere but good ingenuity
