    Dude you are a freaking genius. You should patent that and sell it. I’ve driven my zero turn grasshopper off into the pond a couple of times and had to pull it out twice with my UTV. I hate using a weed eater on my pond. Thanks for the video

    I’d love to have info on this setup … people saying use a weed whacker obviously have never used a weed whacker around a large pond with thick weeds in 80° plus temperatures

    • @miked1286
      @miked1286 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      have you tried a thicker string?

    love the automatic rock repositioner as std equip. a rear discharge deck with a big engine could power thru those high weeds. nice idea.

    Lol I treat ponds, had to come here to say I love you man that’s hilarious and ingenuity at its finest. Appreciate you not blowing the grass into the water as well. Keep it up 👍

  • @BorderPaps

    Great job. Wish you would have showed close up with explanations more of the build. Like the joint in your extension, I don’t see how that is made.

    You realize this is funny as hell. I will be tinkering with this, sez the guy who never lasts more than 100 feet of shore with the whacker, But YES a follow-up video on how to build it would be SWELL.

    Slick ass snot!
    Do you have any close up shots of your setup?
    Thanks for the idea. I'm fixing to close on my grandparents farm. I was out there the other day Cleaning around the pond. I thought "damn, there's got to be a better way."
    I'm a metal fabricator, so this will be a fairly easy build. Thanks again!

    just a couple heavy duty C clamps to hold it to the front end of your zero turn, hey what ever works! I have a 40 degree bank on my drive way that needs this idea.thanks for posting.

    Great job! BTW, I don’t know if you have always been chased around by a bunch of yipping chihuahuas, or if the commenters in this thread just decided to have a go at you, but either way, you win !!!
    If you’d be willing to endure more potential asshat comments, I’d really appreciate a walk around video of your fabrication. I have 2 lakes on my property that I really hate doing the shore work on.

    • @mrsittingduck4867
      @mrsittingduck4867  6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Makingthepush, thanks for the reply. This is a prototype I ginned up to see if it would work, and it did. I need to make a few improvements; bigger rollers, bigger casters, and a larger discharge opening. I plan on working on it this summer and will post it when I get it done. I put it up for a couple of buddies to look at and had no idea others would be interested. Attracting the knobs stupid comments was just an added bonus... I am fascinated by the morons.

    That is so cool. The trouble with my lake is that the shore is not as smooth as yours. I can do like you done but the mower can not touch the ground. I do love the wrist design. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌👌👌👌😮😮😮😮😃😃😃😃😃😃😃

    Thats a good idea. Ive scared myself a couple of times when I nearly tipped or slid down into the pond the riding mower.

    • @mrsittingduck4867
      @mrsittingduck4867  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Know the feeling. I've almost put a mower into the pond a couple of times myself. A friend of mine put a brand new zero turn in his pond and the running engine sucked in the water and was cooked.

      Fatboy LLC. When someone just makes an ad hominem attack it's usually due to feeling inferior or frustrated because they can't express themselves effectively. Poor RN. Being bottled up inside that confused cranium with no way to communicate with the outside world.

  • @HondaCummins
    @HondaCummins 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    That's awesome. Can't believe all the hate you're getting. People can be real a-holes for no reason. I built something similar for my dad who has steep ditches that otherwise would have to be cut with a string trimmer. He's getting older and it was getting harder for him to cut the lawn. Check it out on my channel.

    • @mrsittingduck4867
      @mrsittingduck4867  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just watched your video. Nice job. like the solid way you have it mounted to the mower. I'm sure your dad's old knees appreciate it.

    • @HondaCummins
      @HondaCummins 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mr Sittingduck thanks, I made it so the ditch mower and the boom arm comes off the the front of the rider as one with just a pull of a hitch pin. The only thing I would have changed if I had more time to build it would be casters on all 4 corners. Unfortunately we live half way across the country from each other so it will have to wait.

    Darn - six year old video, but I'll ask anyway: Can we have schematics, instructions, pictures, build video? I want one of these! I NEED one of these! And what's up with 105,000 views only only 107 subscribers? That's just lame!

    Do you have any issue with oil starvation on the steep bank?

    • @mrsittingduck4867
      @mrsittingduck4867  6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      No problem with oil in the engine over 3 seasons. Just bought the cheapest mower at the Farm Fleet store they had
      ;)

  • @Futurebeefcake
    @Futurebeefcake 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Are front deck mowers worth it? Anymore expensive than mid mount zero turn?

    • @mrsittingduck4867
      @mrsittingduck4867  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No. It is a very old mower, before mid-mounts. It is a bumpier ride. The one nice thing is it is good for mowing under fences and shoving the deck up under pine trees.

    My papaw has a bush hog on a huge arm that reaches down the bank and cuts the grass, not sure what you call it lol but for the size of the pond this looks like it does a good job! Much better then getting wet grass thrown all over you from the weed eater.

    • @mrsittingduck4867
      @mrsittingduck4867  6 ปีที่แล้ว

    You couldn't build a similar setup with a weedeater?

    • @mrsittingduck4867
      @mrsittingduck4867  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Weedeater: Handheld, flexible string and maybe 1HP. Modified mower: Hardened steel shaft with a re-sharpenable steel blade and 4HP.
