Both incredible bands to this day. I have reasons why I'd pick either album in this vs and the choice varies based on criteria. Some great competition here!
Agreed. 72 Seasons is probably my favorite of theirs since the black album. DM was great too but I always skip End of the Line where I don't really skip over anything from 72. DM also had the wonky mixing that sounds kind of rough to me. If they fixed that and swapped EotL for one of the better Beyond Magnetic tracks I might have liked that one more.
@@BornFromAWish They both have one flaw tho... and it is overlonging their songs. 4 out of the 10 songs in Death Magnetic are way too long, those being The End Of The Line, The Day That Never Comes, All Nightmare Long and The Judas Kiss. And like... 4 songs from 72 Seasons are way too long, 72 Seasons, If Darkness Had A Son, Sleepwalk My Life Away and... maybe Chasing Light.
Chasing Light !!! Вообще альбом 72 Seasons получился довольно мощными и хорошо качает... Теперь все альбомы до Black album + 72 Seasons мои любимые, могу слушать не переставая.
I like "72 Seasons" no question, but there is such a nostalgic influence on it; there are times where the riffs (and solos) are callbacks to previous Metallica songs---which I think is intentional. However, "The Sick, The Dying..and the Dead is a tremendous effort. The entire band is on-point with this one. It just blows my mind how Dave and Kiko can trade solos the way they do.
Thank you for making this video. It was very cool and entertaining. I've been a fan of both bands for at least 33 years, and I love the fact that both bands are still making great music. I am so glad Metallica is not working with Bob Rock anymore. They are just better without him. So glad the Bob Rock era is over. Their last two albums are just great. Megadeth's latest is also a great album. Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Overkill, Testament, and Sepultura all put out great music after the pandemic. I wonder if the whole COVID lockdown situation inspired these guys to focus on creating something great. Although Overkill has been consistently making good music.
@guitarpro343 no I'm just making opinions with zero knowledge of what I'm talking about. There's a reason metallica is a bigger band it's really as simple as that lol. Tons of solos, flashy riffs, and unnecessary use of techniques doesn't make for good sounding music lol. Simple is better in most cases.
I have criticized The Sick for recycling riffs and phrasing, not being as good as Dystopia etc...But I still haven't been able to make it through 72 Seasons, despite liking the first single. I've tried several times to listen to the whole thing and can't get through. I find modern Metallica's song-writing is atrocious and boring. For context, I was the world's biggest Metallica fan back in the day, (first concert, inspired me to play guitar, collected all the rare vinyl etc); and I have seen Megadeth live many times, I'm a superfan, biggest influence on my guitar and bass playing. These days, while I'm sometimes frustrated by Megadeth, I have nothing but contempt for Metallica. And going by how they have treated their fans for the last quarter century, the feeling is mutual. It's difficult enough to muster any enthusiasm for their occasional albums. But then they just end up being so lame. At least Megadeth records stand up beside other contemporary releases. But I would rather listen to a hundred lesser known bands than the over-hyped, over-indulgent, nostalgia-bait fake metal that Metallica churn out for their soccer mom and accountant dad fans. The same month 72 Seasons came out, Overkill released Scorched which is a million times better. And this year we've had Extreme release Six, King Gizzard release Petrodragonic Apocalypse, a new Sevendust album, a new Dethklok album, a new Filter record, a new Tesseract record, Cannibal Corpse and KK's priest, In Flames; Heimdal by Enslaved, which is a masterpiece; a new Periphery album, a bunch of singles from Samurai Pizza Cats...The list goes on and on. All stuff I'd rather listen to than Metallica's tired bullshit.
Both are good and i would usually say tie but i think here Sick dying and dead gets the win, just because it has some really unique songs like dogs of chernobyl.
I grew up learning the Metallica and Megadeth catalogue on guitar. I could throw together riffs that sounds good but it would just be an imitation. You need your own style.
riffs are only part of it, you can write 200 good sounding riffs but you would also have to structure it. otherwise you have an album thats just "bleh" with maybe two good songs (looking at you, countdown to extinction)
As an old head ,growing up in metal, great to see stuff like this, oh yeah ,love the hair!,still got mine! Love to do it vocals!anyway you rock metal murchant!
It’s hard to compare the 72 riffs are more groove feel where the Sick riffs are more technical. Both are great to listen to but stylistically different. Megadeth has always had more tech feel. I’d enjoy learning the Sick riffs less Lol.
Life in Hell, We'll be Back, Soldier On, Night Stalkers, Junkie last part, MegadetH still has the thrash fire in the heart. Metallica seems to be a lil cold yet.
Nice one!! They're all good riffs, but for me personally, I like early Metallica (up to the "Black" album) and Megadeth since "Rust in Peace". Dave has just improved and improved and always has top notch people around him, from Marty, to Al Pitrelli, to Chris Broderick.....it just goes on and on. That being said, it is fun to compare, but we really don't have to choose....we can like everything! 🙂 Thanks for another cool video! 🤘🎸🎶👏👍🙏
Yeah, you're right. We really don't have to choose and can like everything. It's a bit sad people sometimes start fighting in the comments. I've been enjoying 72 Seasons since it came out. It's only grown on me over time. Haven't gotten around to the latest Megadeth record yet, but these riffs sound pretty cool. I did enjoy their 2016 (I think?) record and saw them live just before the pandemic hit.
Yeah Dystopia is a good album, better than this one which s still good imo
@@222MovieManhell yeah, Dystopia was their best album since Rust in Peace, imo
Bro you need to get on that new Megadeth album right now
I think The Sick was a better album than Dystopia.
@@BUFFALO_cougar_slayer Countdown, Youthanasia, Cryptic Writings :(
I'm more of a Megadeth fan since I can listen to their new stuff aswell and when I listen to Metallica I only go for their four first albums. And both bands are greeat! But I must say anyways that TSTDATD beats 72 seaons for these albums.
I know its hard to convience someone to try later metallica albums but honestly man try Death Magnetic and some live performances from 2009, like all nightmare Long from Mexico or My Apocalypse from Quebec. Its honestly one of the Greatest music Metallica have made
@@gansior4744I totally agree, Death Magnetic is just as good as their 80s stuff. Incredibly underrated
Shame Megadeth only plays We'll be Back on their current setlist
Cool. When I listen to Megadeth I only go for THEIR first four albums!
@@PazBinv1 Nice! Which albums are your favorite from the 2 bands?
Dos discos llenos de grandisimos riff , pero si tengo que elegir uno, me quedo con el de MEGADETH
i mean i am metallica fan and I love metallica more but to be honest i like the sick, the dying and the death album its way more better in terms of thrash metal it's speed aggressive and that's what metallica fans used to get from metallica and thats i like to hear from metallica but in terms of metal in general both albums are great and got their own styles!
I love how the comments are full of Megadeth fans complimenting both bands and Metallica fans still finding a way to be offended by it
- a Lamb of God fan
You're completely mistaken. It's the other way around.
Case in point: @@cripplingdebt224
Amazing riff battle!
I’ve seen both bands in concert and I love both albums 🤘
Dave decided he wanted to make a good and thrashy old Megadeth album again, I think he did pretty fuckin well.
Both incredible bands to this day. I have reasons why I'd pick either album in this vs and the choice varies based on criteria. Some great competition here!
Both albums are their best in about 20 years ngl, glad to see both still got it
72 better than Death Magnetic??
@@Parka_Nieltbh i love both albums, but i wouldn't say 72 Seasons is as memorable or as heartfelt as Death Magnetic
@@oliverafton1444 exactly, Death Magnetic had The Day That Never Comes, or That Was Just Your Life, underated songs
72 Seasons is one of my Top 5 Metallica albums. At first I was skeptical but it grew on me. It's such a mature album
Could easily lose three tracks from Side Two though.
That's great. I really like both albums.
Great work! Now lets compare the voice next.
Both sound great on these albums...
These are honestly 2 of the best metal albums is such different ways. Inamorata and mission to mars are easily both 10/10 songs.
Technique sadly doesn't make the song better, megadeth has always had flashier better technique but metallica always has written better songs.
@@williamwoodard6682 have you heard 72 seasons?
@guitarpro343 no I'm just making opinions with zero knowledge of what I'm talking about. There's a reason metallica is a bigger band it's really as simple as that lol. Tons of solos, flashy riffs, and unnecessary use of techniques doesn't make for good sounding music lol. Simple is better in most cases.
we'll be back is just something else
Killing Time riff amazing!
Your videos are awesome, man.
I never thought I'd be so pleasantly entertained by watching another man play with himself...
Vaya amigo la verdad ambos album están digno de escuchar... Saludo desde Venezuela!!! Sube más Yeaaahh
Megadeth all the way here.

Can't hate both. Without them what is metal
Megadeth! That hit the spot!
Both are good and i would usually say tie but i think here Sick dying and dead gets the win, just because it has some really unique songs like dogs of chernobyl.
Both are fantastic albums that I didn't expect to enjoy as much as I do. I think I've listened to 72 more than The Sick though.
Same but I listen to the Mega album more
Yeah, not a couple riffs caught my ear with metallica, they’ve went the way of slower tubes and that’s cool, but it’s been constant.
I gotta give the edge to Megadeth here, probably one of their best albums.
You forgot about the best riff on tstdatd for mission to mars during that whole talking sequence
Sometimes I think that youtubers like these would not find it difficult to make their own songs due to the amount of riffs they usually play
songwriting is harder than just having technical proficiency
@@tfwnoyandereYeah but it’s so much easier to write riffs when you’re good at playing
@@RagingInsomniac ↑
As an old head ,growing up in metal, great to see stuff like this, oh yeah ,love the hair!,still got mine! Love to do it vocals!anyway you rock metal murchant!
It’s hard to compare the 72 riffs are more groove feel where the Sick riffs are more technical. Both are great to listen to but stylistically different. Megadeth has always had more tech feel. I’d enjoy learning the Sick riffs less Lol.
Great! 👏👏👏
Bro, the hair is very beautiful!
Greetings from Brazil! 🤘✌️
Megadeth with the chocolates yet again! More interesting riffs and chord progression and the drumming works better with the riffs with Megadeth.
Life in Hell, We'll be Back, Soldier On, Night Stalkers, Junkie last part, MegadetH still has the thrash fire in the heart. Metallica seems to be a lil cold yet.
Both are really good albums 🤘
Video was heavy as always Suffocater!! Thanks for your hard work man, hail metal! You always kill it and make it look good my man🤘🤘 horns up from Ks!
Thanks for another cool video! 🤘🎸🎶👏👍🙏
Yeah, you're right. We really don't have to choose and can like everything. It's a bit sad people sometimes start fighting in the comments. What I like about his videos is there is no judging, just pure comparison (or not even that, just showcasing) which often shows what you just said - we can like everything.
@@gordonbrinkmannI absolutely agree! TheSuffocater's videos are awesome and always remind me of music that I haven't listened to in a while, or a long time in some cases, which prompts me to get the cds out and crank 'em! 🙂

The kings of metal are still releasing great music nowadays!
And so are Megadeth.
@@PazBinv1 LOL, I meant both Metallica and Megadeth, I consider them the kings of metal, I'm a fan of both bands :)
It's Megadeth for me... I liked 72 s though. I'm glad both bands are still around ❤
Can we appreciate them for still on the road after many many years.
As much a lifelong Met fan I am, this Megadeth album has some really good moments in the riffing
I always appreciated the groovyness in the later period Metallica albums
That's one thing Lars brings that a lot of people overlook. In not being a technical guy, he can just focus on laying the fattest grooves, which affects how the other guys play too (in a good way).
Me too 👍🏻👍🏻
was waiting for somebody to do this... amazing!
Great playing here. I prefer Metallica’s overall groove and melody more.
