SacredStump lol as someone who grew up in England and has lived in Aus for 8 years, you’ll never find a better fish & chips than in the UK. You can’t even find any chips here that aren’t frozen cheap shit. No vinegar, no curry sauce, barely ever find a place that does mushy peas. It’s crap!

You'd figure places that dealt with so many potatoes would cut them fresh. Machines do exist after all to do just that.
Nice to see some tartare sauce. Vinegar tasting things work so much better with fish & chips than lemon I reckon. A pickled gherkin is my fave!

I remrmber this shop that had a sign outside in sydney, "hand cut fish & chips". I said to him "thats good you make your own chips". He laughed and said that came out of a plastic bag. Didnt seem worried at all about false advertising.

if you are still looking for the best fish and chips you definitely found it, everytime i go through there i always get fish and chips there I have done for years never had an issue, been a few owners over the years.
If you're looking for a good tartare sauce from Australian supermarkets go for the Birch & Waite brand. It's delicious.

Nice work GregO and top vid...! They did so well when they first opened in 2010 that they opened another one at Kingscliff... not sure if that is still there. Their sign with the double ‘bb’ in Cabba has always annoyed me lol... musta used a cheap sign writer as all their marketing & website show the proper Caba uh... Cheers Gibbo

Finally gerg, this is a step in the right direction. I get barramundi, chips and choice of salad at my local for $10 and it is a very good meal. This one you had looks very nice too although I would prefer thick cut chips, and also a proper serving of salad. But overall good and refreshing to see a reasonable price and quality fish for once.
That did look like some awesome barra bro...
I expected you to do your crazy speeded up dance going into the Stunned Mullet the music was playing but the Gregster wasnt dancing, still great review and a fish I hadnt even heard of before! Right on!

This looks way better than the Fish n Chips that we get, it used to be good but it's gone down hill lately.
The fish & chips look divine, I couldn't understand how they come in two separate packages, they could just put them in one package, apart from that a great vid Greg, :-)

Hoxton Park food bar serves the most cheapest Vietnamese fish . But I can't compare it to any other fish and chip place. Because it tastes simply "great".
I lived in the 1980's and there are a multitude of fish and chip bars. But I heard the dampness in that bite that you have taken.
People today don't know the difference of the old Greek fish and chip shop take away bar. Some of the batters are pre made and are so thick that it's like eating an unseasoned imitation batter with steamed fish. Others yuppy type of places have more likeliness to the one that you have tried. Thin crispy but the fish inside is oily because the oil penetrates through the batter and makes it a "squishy but crispy" style of the norm today , and I hate it when people say that that is 5 star. When you see that the fish has oil on it that's because it's a trendy thin crust and people don't say anything but "you can really taste the fish". That is because the oil was swimming on the inside of the batter to create fish oil juice.
The old school batter is thicker than their transparent crisp. But when you tear apart the fish there is a crunchy sound and there is also a smell of steamed creamy well seasoned fish.
THAT IS THE REAL DEAL.
Australia is loosing it's original well underated fish and chip shop to a much bigger audience that is on Instagram or Facebook. Purely for the photography.

Thing I don't like about Aussie chips and fish-n-chip shops is the chips are all frozen.
French fries = pre cut, so not a real chippy.. Only us Brits make proper chips Greggo😂😉.

As an owner of a fish and chip shop, there is no such thing as “fresh”! You can specify ‘Fresh’ but to a certain extent. I will explain/reply to those who disagree.
I live in Ontario, Canada and I'm always skeptical of sushi. Eating raw fish when you're 1000 miles from the nearest ocean doesn't seem like the best idea XD
