I adored Clint Walker as Cheyenne when I watched him on TV in the UK. I was 12. I had pictures of him and some of the others, on one wall and Sir Cliff Richard, OBE on the others. Cliff was and still is an adored British singer, entertainer, musical actor and 1st class gentleman. Sounds a lot like Clint Walker. I only discovered exactly how talented the gorgeous Clint Walker was since I moved to Ireland having spent 41 yrs in South Africa. My phone has been a wonderful companion and source of information. I too love him in Night of the Grizzly and Yuma but I also found another attractive side of him in Bountyman and Scream of the Wolf. I didn't know he could sing or had such a great comedic side with flawless timing. I know what I want for birthday and Christmas now!!!
Growing up in the mid-50s Cheyenne and Sugarfoot were some of the shows that I watched every week. Later Bronco came on board . Those were some of the best entertainment around. Very little today can hold my attention like those old westerns.

I just turned 68( hard to believe),and I watch Cheyenne, Rawhide,Bat Masterson every day .these shows are great Rawhide being my favorite...what a great time to be a kid watching our hero's on TV .Thanks to Rob for keeping memories alive.
I love all the old Westerns that was on when I was a kid. My dad loved them and I loved watching them with my dad. I'm 73 now and the memories are wonderful. All of the great stars of the old Westerns are really missed. Clint was very handsome and his deep voice was so smooth.
Wonderful interview with Ann Robinson. I have DVDs of the first two seasons of "Cheyenne" and of "The War of the Worlds." The latter starred Gene Barry who played "Bat Masterson" on television; I have the complete series. My favorite part of the Spielberg version of "The War of the Worlds" is Gene Barry and Ann Robinson at the end. I admired Clint Walker and most western stars and Ronald Reagan as both an actor and as President. Someday I will tell you about meeting Ronald Reagan.

After finding out Clint was born and raised in a southern Illinois oil town just up the road from me, and that he worked on the Mississippi River barges as a young man, I am not surprised by all these good stories about the man he became.
🇬🇧 I remember as a young child in the late 50s & 60s playing cowboys & indians most of the time, i had all the gear, chaps, sheriff's badge, guns & gun belt Fringed jacket, even bow & arrows! But i laugh when i remember my mum talking by our garden fence with her female neighbours & screeching about seeing Cheyenne with his shirt off & all but swooning at the thought! I used to think they were bonkers, not understanding all the fuss they made about him shedding his garments Its not till i see the stature & handsome face of Cheyenne - Clint Walker, these days i can understand their ardour! Im sure i heard somewhere that Clint was part Native American? But ive not heard anyone confirm this, he does have that proud handsome face that Native American DNA would have given him. 1950s England my mum got us a 17inch tv indictable,my life changed couldn’t get enough westerns,what a wonderful treat we had before they exploited television.
In 2007, I was privileged to speak to Clint Walker, via the "Mark Simone Radio Show" who at age 80, was most gracious in answering questions about his life, both during & after his "Cheyenne" days! At age 9 in 1955, I got to see that show from its beginning (1st 1 hr. Western on t.v.) & wondered why this powerful actor could not transform this image into a super successful 'action hero' movie career, like Stallone or Swartzeneggar? I can only surmise that he was at least a decade or two ahead of his time! R.I.P. Clint!
Yes that was great. I always knew Audie Murphy was number 1 as far as decorations. So who was number 2? Just guessing it would have been Howlin Mad Lieutenant General Holland McTyeire Smith. Have to look it up though.
What a career Ann had! All the greats she worked with too. This interview must have been around 2015 since she mentioned Martin Milner just passing. She was around 86 or so then but you’d never know it. Sharp as a tack and still with us at 92. Thanks Rob! Keep ‘em coming!

Cheyenne, Sugarfoot, and Bronco starring Ty Hardin were the three rotating television westerns I watched every week in my early childhood. The 50's had some great westerns.
That rotating schedule only came in the last year or two of the "Cheyenne Show's" run! Unlike "Maverick", which rotated stars, Clint Walker acted alone for the first 4-5 years!
Great interview Rob! Ann Robinson was a beautiful young actress and is still a beautiful woman today! In 1955 I was 6 years old and Cheyenne was one of my favorite westerns. I have to say one of because there were so many excellent westerns in those days. However Clint Walker was then, and still is, at the top of my list .... a truly "good guy"!!

Ann Robinson is a delight to listen to. She said she had, "forgot" certain stuff that you reminded her of but she's so clear spoken I don't think she has forgotten much of anything. Warner Brothers did seem to have a, "tall man" policy. So many of the stars we grew up watching were giant men. Walker was 6'6," Arness was 6'7," and Dennis Weaver was 6'7"! Fess Parker was right up there too at at least 6'5" or 6'6" and Buddy Ebsen was 6'4" and Max Baer who came along later and starred with Ebsen on the Beverly Hillbillies, was too. Anyway, I really enjoyed today's episode, thanks again Rob Word.

What a wonderful interview. Ann is a wonderful actress and person. Coming in with President Reagan's hat was a nice touch. I had no idea how many, what we now call classics, she stared in with so many big past and upcoming stars at the time. I believe the stables she was talking about were Pickwick stables. Also, it had there a circler pool, drive-in, bowling alley, and ice rink. Spent many a summer day and night there growing up nearby in Glendale in the 1960s. Great and fun family memories.
Thanks, Dan. She's a treat. I used to ride at Pickwick every Sunday morning beginning in 1979. Rod Livingston was the owner. $6 an hour horse rental!! Then raised to $8. I believe it's $50 an hour now and you can't ride without a "guide."
In the early 60's...about the time I was 9 or 10 yrs old...our Saddle Club set pivots for a Grand Entry at the The Heart of Texas Fair & Rodeo🤠🐎 in Waco, Texas...big Clint Walker was the entertainment/guest celebrity that night...I was thrilled to death that "Cheyenne" was there...as we were riding out of the arena at the end of the Grand Entry ...Clint Walker was standing with someone by the exit gate as we rode out...my best buddy and I were both riding Shetland ponies...as we passed Clint he patted our horses rumps and said "Hey there cowboys"....it was great...🤩

Oh gosh, how well I remember all those shows. Even Wheaties back in 1958, had a cutout Buntline rubber band gun from the TV show Wyatt Earp. War of the Worlds by Pal, is still the best one IMO. Thanks for keeping these coming, Rob. You are keeping me young by doing so. 💯👍👌👏

The first thing to enter my mind when I hear Clint Walker mentioned is Night of the Grizzly and Ann Robinson is and always will be The War of the Worlds.

Clint Walker was my first school girl crush! I'd run home from school to watch Cheyenne every day. I thought him the most handsome man in the world and even as he aged, he was a good looking man. He was always the gentleman, always kind and witty in every interview and public appearance he made. He often told funny stories of incidents that happened while filming his series. During one of his episodes while performing his own stunt, his pants ripped open in the seat. Rather than stop filming and re-doing the scene again, he went off script and had to ad-lib that part in order to hide the damage from the camera. No one ever suspected a thing! Even though he was a large man, standing at 6'6" tall, he was a gentle giant, a vocal advocate for American native indians, a good actor and a good person. To most of us, he's a legend and we'll never forget him.
The still shot from "Laredo" reminded me that William Smith passed away a few days ago at the age of 88, the last member of the cast to go. Look at his resume and you will see he was another very impressive man in real life.

From what little information I have been able to learn he was wounded on one of them. His costar, Neville Brand, had been a career soldier prior to WWII (much like Ernest Borgnine in the Navy) and once single-handedly took out a German pillbox by entering it alone and emerging as the only survivor of that fight. Phil Carey, who played their boss, had been a rear gunner on Marine dive bombers in the Pacific during WWII, as had Brian Keith and Paul Newman (Navy). Clint Walker, as a teenager, served in the Merchant Marines during the war. Jame Garner was a wounded Army National Guard infantry vet from the Korean War. Lee Marvin fought across the Pacific as a Marine infantryman until seriously wounded. If you've ever wondered why these men were so believable in their macho roles, perhaps it is because they didn't have to pretend.

Although Mr. Smith played the villain in most shows & movies, he did play a good guy in others. This is the first time I've heard of his passing. These older legends are getting fewer every day. RIP W.S.,& condolences to your family, friends & fans.❤💔
@@Paladin1873 Jimmy Stewart was one of the first big name actors to join. He enlisted as a private, and incredibly, rose to colonel in just 4 years. And the promotions were talent-based and often combat related, not a token publicity rank. He served until he was forced to retire at 60. He ended up as a major general. Dude flew some hairy missions over Germany.
Rob, Ms. Robinson was in so many great shows. Thanks so much for showing this. I wanted Clint Walker's autograph a number of years ago and ordered a book from him, which he had co-authored and signed. Did he ever play a bad guy on the screen? I know he was one of the convicts in "The Dirty Dozen," but he was still very likeable in that role. You and Ms. Robinson provided a lot of great memories in this episode.

Fantastic interview Rob. It is so enlightening to see Ann Robinson which as a child I did not pay attention to her in growing up and watching all the acting parts she played. It actually makes me more appreciative of her mass number of movie and TV rolls. Wish I could meet and speak with her in person to tell her how much she was appreciated.
Ann Robinson is such a refined lady and born only three months after my own mother. It must be a characteristic of their generation to have such class. It's certainly far less common today. When you discussed Hugh O'Brien meeting Albert Schweitzer, I was reminded that while my mother was a student at FSU majoring in German, her professor invited her over one night to meet an old friend of hers who who visiting America. It was Albert Schweitzer. This was before he received the Nobel Peace prize and became internationally famous.
I'm always amazed by the knowledge and memory you have Rob, that you use to draw from your guests their fascinating memories and stories. I do remember the, "Cheyenne" series and Clint Walker's portrayal of the quintessential western hero, a soft spoken hulk who went about the west righting wrongs. Too bad those shows are just memories now much like the west they portrayed. Thanks Rob, keep up the great work!!!

Before Mr. Walker died, I contacted him and his wife, and told them how much we enjoyed his movies. It was many years ago when I lived in Texas.

Pierre (Peter) Julien Ortiz, he not only served in the US military but he served in the French Foreign Legion. He was awarded with numerous accommodations. He was the captain with the eye patch in the movie Rio Grande with John Wayne.

Cheyenne, Sugarfoot, and Bronco starring Ty Hardin were the three rotating television westerns I watched every week in my early childhood. The 50's had some great westerns.
That rotating schedule only came in the last year or two of the "Cheyenne Show's" run!
Unlike "Maverick", which rotated stars, Clint Walker acted alone for the first 4-5 years!
I always watch Cheyenne with my grandfather and I still watch today and a great western TV show of all time 🤠
64 years old my grand children watch cheyanne together. ITS GREAT.!!

Great interview Rob! Ann Robinson was a beautiful young actress and is still a beautiful woman today! In 1955 I was 6 years old and Cheyenne was one of my favorite westerns. I have to say one of because there were so many excellent westerns in those days. However Clint Walker was then, and still is, at the top of my list .... a truly "good guy"!!
I loved Clint Walker in "Night of the Grizzly" and in "Yuma." He did seem like a humble and decent man, even though he had such a great, successful career.
Ann Robinson is a delight to listen to. She said she had, "forgot" certain stuff that you reminded her of but she's so clear spoken I don't think she has forgotten much of anything. Warner Brothers did seem to have a, "tall man" policy. So many of the stars we grew up watching were giant men. Walker was 6'6," Arness was 6'7," and Dennis Weaver was 6'7"! Fess Parker was right up there too at at least 6'5" or 6'6" and Buddy Ebsen was 6'4" and Max Baer who came along later and starred with Ebsen on the Beverly Hillbillies, was too. Anyway, I really enjoyed today's episode, thanks again Rob Word.

What a wonderful interview. Ann is a wonderful actress and person. Coming in with President Reagan's hat was a nice touch. I had no idea how many, what we now call classics, she stared in with so many big past and upcoming stars at the time. I believe the stables she was talking about were Pickwick stables. Also, it had there a circler pool, drive-in, bowling alley, and ice rink. Spent many a summer day and night there growing up nearby in Glendale in the 1960s. Great and fun family memories.
Thanks, Dan. She's a treat. I used to ride at Pickwick every Sunday morning beginning in 1979. Rod Livingston was the owner. $6 an hour horse rental!! Then raised to $8. I believe it's $50 an hour now and you can't ride without a "guide."

In the early 60's...about the time I was 9 or 10 yrs old...our Saddle Club set pivots for a Grand Entry at the The Heart of Texas Fair & Rodeo🤠🐎 in Waco, Texas...big Clint Walker was the entertainment/guest celebrity that night...I was thrilled to death that "Cheyenne" was there...as we were riding out of the arena at the end of the Grand Entry ...Clint Walker was standing with someone by the exit gate as we rode out...my best buddy and I were both riding Shetland ponies...as we passed Clint he patted our horses rumps and said "Hey there cowboys"....it was great...🤩

Oh gosh, how well I remember all those shows. Even Wheaties back in 1958, had a cutout Buntline rubber band gun from the TV show Wyatt Earp.

Clint Walker was my first school girl crush! I'd run home from school to watch Cheyenne every day. I thought him the most handsome man in the world and even as he aged, he was a good looking man. He was always the gentleman, always kind and witty in every interview and public appearance he made. He often told funny stories of incidents that happened while filming his series. During one of his episodes while performing his own stunt, his pants ripped open in the seat. Rather than stop filming and re-doing the scene again, he went off script and had to ad-lib that part in order to hide the damage from the camera. No one ever suspected a thing! Even though he was a large man, standing at 6'6" tall, he was a gentle giant, a vocal advocate for American native indians, a good actor and a good person. To most of us, he's a legend and we'll never forget him.

The still shot from "Laredo" reminded me that William Smith passed away a few days ago at the age of 88, the last member of the cast to go. Look at his resume and you will see he was another very impressive man in real life.

@@gerrydooley951 He was an Air Force Russian linguist during the Korean War and flew on secret intelligence gathering missions near the Soviet border. From what little information I have been able to learn he was wounded on one of them. His costar, Neville Brand, had been a career soldier prior to WWII (much like Ernest Borgnine in the Navy) and once single-handedly took out a German pillbox by entering it alone and emerging as the only survivor of that fight. Phil Carey, who played their boss, had been a rear gunner on Marine dive bombers in the Pacific during WWII, as had Brian Keith and Paul Newman (Navy). Clint Walker, as a teenager, served in the Merchant Marines during the war. Jame Garner was a wounded Army National Guard infantry vet from the Korean War. Lee Marvin fought across the Pacific as a Marine infantryman until seriously wounded. If you've ever wondered why these men were so believable in their macho roles, perhaps it is because they didn't have to pretend.
@@Paladin1873 Yes sir! So many actors from these great westerns of my youth,were heroes in real life! It wasn't until several years later that I learned this. A grandfather, 3 uncles, my dad & a cousin were all in different wars. All gone now,they live on in our hearts.❤🇺🇸
Although Mr. Smith played the villain in most shows & movies, he did play a good guy in others. This is the first time I've heard of his passing. These older legends are getting fewer every day. RIP W.S.,& condolences to your family, friends & fans.❤💔
@@Paladin1873 Jimmy Stewart was one of the first big name actors to join. He enlisted as a private, and incredibly, rose to colonel in just 4 years.
And the promotions were talent-based and often combat related, not a token publicity rank. He served until he was forced to retire at 60. He ended up as a major general. Dude flew some hairy missions over Germany.

Rob, Ms. Robinson was in so many great shows. Thanks so much for showing this. I wanted Clint Walker's autograph a number of years ago and ordered a book from him, which he had co-authored and signed. Did he ever play a bad guy on the screen? I know he was one of the convicts in "The Dirty Dozen," but he was still very likeable in that role. You and Ms. Robinson provided a lot of great memories in this episode.

I'm only a third of the way through, I must or feel I should apologize for stopping ,but I'm so elated ; I've never been one to idolize or really care about autographs but I must say , I would be beside myself, he is one of my favorites, I've seen all his shows, movies, documentaries you name it."; I've seen the one she's talking about three or four times it was great ,she's a very nice lady and spoke truly Clint Walker , and I knew before she said it, from seeing Cheyenne's interviews he was a great man" honest and true like a man should be ,just like my mother raised me to be and you can tell that in other people when they are ,I didn't see his show when it ran originally but once TH-cam came around there was no stopping me and I want to truly thank you for this,, I'm glad I found your channel you'll be hearing from me again, 🤠 pardner.

Ann Robinson is such a refined lady and born only three months after my own mother. It must be a characteristic of their generation to have such class. It's certainly far less common today. When you discussed Hugh O'Brien meeting Albert Schweitzer, I was reminded that while my mother was a student at FSU majoring in German, her professor invited her over one night to meet an old friend of hers who who visiting America. It was Albert Schweitzer. This was before he received the Nobel Peace prize and became internationally famous.

I'm always amazed by the knowledge and memory you have Rob, that you use to draw from your guests their fascinating memories and stories. I do remember the, "Cheyenne" series and Clint Walker's portrayal of the quintessential western hero, a soft spoken hulk who went about the west righting wrongs. Too bad those shows are just memories now much like the west they portrayed. Thanks Rob, keep up the great work!!!
