Amazing 88 Films release of a decent HK hitwoman flick with an early Jade Leung performance and Simon Yam playing an CIA instructor. It’s basically a HK remake of Le Femme Nikita, but what’s interesting about the film is that it was shot in Vancouver, BC, Canada, trying to imitate an American city (NYC perhaps?) just like Stanley Tong directed Jackie Chan starred Rumble in the Bronx which was also shot in Vancouver BC. Being a Stephen Shin directed film, he also did some films that were shot in Canada before like Love Me Love My Dad, a rare family drama with Ti Lung (it was shot in Ontario), and Lunch with Charles which he co-produced.
Great unboxing, it looks like a fantastic release! I just came back from the UK and couldn't help but snag as much 88 Films releases as I could. Now I'm hooked 😅 Cheers!
Thanks Nathan, the 88 deluxe sets are pretty glorious! You got into 88 at the perfect time! More and more of their releases will be coming out stateside as well as here in the U.K. and in a few cases, you guys will be getting releases from 88 we won’t get here! ( Dragons forever is coming out in two versions over in the US later this year and we’ll only get the 4K version :)
@@TheFanaticalDragon From what I've picked up thus far, it seems that way! I noticed a few titles at my local shop that had the most recent (Martial Club). Glad to see some love over here, but I hope it's reciprocated in some capacity too!
The film looks familiar but I cannot remember anything from it, and I get the feeling I've only watched it once. It's probably the first time that I don't like the reverse blu ray art cover. Why didn't they use the one that was used on the reverse poster or that was on the from of the book? I think for the first time I'll use the commissioned artist's artwork when I get the blu ray. I hope 88 FIlms will release more girls with guns such as Naked Weapon, Naked Killer, So Close, She Shoots Straight, Iron Angels, Queen's High, Angel Terminators, and my favorite franchise, In The Line of Duty,
Quite agree on the artwork, i prefer the montage shot over the alternate original HK poster this time around too! Sure it's just a matter of time before we get more, Spectrum Films in France put out glorious remasters of Devil Hunters and The Dragon Fighter, (but with no English subs) I'm hopeful both of those get picked up by a UK label along with Yes Madam, Inspectors Wear Skirts and Naughty Boys. Still loads and loads of titles in need of a makeover!
Excellent release of an underrated HK classic. My fave of the Nikita-ish films, including the original. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts.
This black cat dvd is pretty in depth and cool.
