    Magpul dynamics got everybody shooting with the C clamp and you are going to have everybody shooting with cheek pistol and cheek ar's. You watch. I have an eye for this kind of thing. I haven't fully created a weapon for this technique yet, but I took the stock off of my ar and going to the range this weekend to give it a try.

      It went ok. I have to get the taller red dot mount. I have to bury my cheek into the buffer tube to much. Other than that, it went well. One of the range officers recognized what I was doing.

  • @lukeman9851
    @lukeman9851 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Would a platform without any buffer tube like a Sig MCX be beneficial for this technique, or is the option of a short buffer tube a benefit (like getting left eye on optic without leaning over the shell deflector)?

    • @CtrlAltRetreat
      @CtrlAltRetreat 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You still need real estate to actually get your cheek on and still have the optic a few inches forward and have a few inches of grip space for your support hand. The ar18 or ak style systems may have an advantage on the back side as long as the other requirements are met but shape is really important here and you'd have to test how the individual arm fits purpose. It's worth a shot. Try a range rental.

    • @hughgrection3052
      @hughgrection3052 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a Rattler 300. And the recoil alone puts the charging handle right into ya face and or nose as soon as ya fire. Notice he uses the buffer to maintain a gap from his face. U can leave a air gap as long as ya use a good sling tho and press outwards tho

    • @hughgrection3052
      @hughgrection3052 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      But if ya looking for an ideal cheek pistol and haven't bought one yet I'd suggest building a MP-57 from a ruger 57. Csm sells the chassis. It's cheaper than a mcx 556 and maybe packs the same punch. Alot more than a 9mm. And it's so tiny I keep mine hid in my car in a lunchbox lol. And ya can put a brace/stock on it and it can fire while folded up. And then be concealed very easy also. Just an all around good weapon.. so long as ya had time to stick up on 5.7 ammo tho. Other than that it's pros vs cons can't be beat

    • @CtrlAltRetreat
      @CtrlAltRetreat 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@hughgrection3052
      Part of the point of the ar pistol is that there is no reciprocating charging handle to bop you in the face and .300blk is far more potent than 9, 5.7 or 45. Should be a cheaper build too and since you're scratch building it, you can pretty easily do full compliance for whatever state you're in while being an excellent option for a suppressor host sometime down the line. At that length, a piston system would be light and easy too, especially if you want to put a can on it sometime.

    • @hughgrection3052
      @hughgrection3052 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CtrlAltRetreat yeah I know. I own a Rattler 300 and many other ARs. I didn't mean to imply it reciprocated. Just meant if ya put ya face behind it any AR with more recoil than 556 will kick hard enough to hurt if ya put ya face right behind it. After my post tho I did sling up my Rattler and it does seem to be able to be held so u put the charging handle against ya chest tho and lay your face on the rail. But I have mine setup for regular shooting and have a rear sight and Eotech in the way to tell for sure if that can be done properly yet without actually stripping it down and firing it. I may try it this weekend. But even a long AR can be done by putting the stock over ya shoulder and laying ya face down on the rail as long as ya have a red dot on it like the concepts guy uses tho. But I mentioned price to the guy cause he said MCX.. not AR. yes ARs can be had for cheap. But MCX is around 3k right now. Pretty pricey. But said the MP-57 can be built for like 1k and he'd have the basic power of a 556 shorty plus other benefits. Many ways to go about this shooting method. I too like 300 but if ya not getting a piston rifle like a Rattler etc.. your gonna have an excessively long rifle. But gas setups are heavier tho I admit. But I'd say the Rattler is the best 300 setup cause of length alone. And I'm getting a can for it too soon. Can't wait. Gonna be a beast. But honestly if I had to reach for any of my PDWs and run out the door with it I'd grab my 57 build everytime cause it's tiny and light n mobile etc. Without compromises. I'm rambling at this point but long story short is I agree lol.

    @or6060 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    there are a number of purpose built AR uppers that allow you to use the gun while folded and have non-reciprocating charging handles. MCX being probably the most popular, but also the FM15 gen 2 and ARAK.
    and bullpups are always an option, which this cheek pistol concept appears to be one degree removed from.
    evolution weapons systems sells the bufferless BCG which drops into any DI AR15 and allows you to remove the buffer assembly from the gun entirely.

    I love that you're doing something new and you're showing that skill alone can overcome gear and Brawn. I like to see you delve a little deeper into your concept trying to find where it's weak. For instance when you're injured what are you going to do I'm not saying get shot but if you're injured enough to let's say that your arms are weak cuz maybe you hurt your shoulder climbing a ladder or you got punched or kicked or you got roughed up or you got pushed down cuz explosion went off and it forced you the floor and hurt you how are you going to stabilize the cheek pistol what about if you hurt your neck ext. I think it's great that you can prove people that you can basically just have no stock and do that high performance shooting but I think that you should try and really push your concept and see where it's weak. You had a stock you could stabilize your gun even though your shoulder is dislocated when you have a cheap pistol you have to stabilize it with your arms and your cheek which means that your arms have to be strong. In combat conditions or even just a small self-defense against incident with multiple attackers you need to be able to fight.
    So maybe you could do something like I don't know work out all day or run a marathon or something then use a cheek pistol and then do the same thing with the stock gun and see if you can do just as well

    Loved the idea of the cheek pistol, but being a leftie pretty much excluded me from using the CP33. But using an AR would be a game changer for us southpaws. Recreating this setup with a Stag Arms left-handed receiver set should work great. We probably wouldn't be able to use the Brass Goat and the ejection port cover might have to be removed (flips upwards), but otherwise should be doable. Thanks for the inspiration.

      Keep in mind 5.7x28mm isn't really AP by today's standards. One, the factory cartridges are underloaded and the AP stuff (SS190) is very difficult to obtain since it's only sold to the police and militaries. Two, even the AP stuff is only AP by 1990's standards, it will get stopped by modern ceramic/steel body armor.

I have a cmr 30 that I was just toying around with doing this technique but it's a full 16" rifle with collapsing stock. The stock collapses pretty far down to the point where it doesn't seem to get in the way and you can use the stock as a cheek anchor point like you do on the cp 33. I'd be curios to hear your take on how effective a small bump in power to 22wmr out of a cmr 30 sbr with a barrel cut and threaded right past the handguard would be, even though sbr regulations are dumb and it would be a big hassle.

    Love to see your take on a ak pistol or one of the micro aks

    • @CtrlAltRetreat
      @CtrlAltRetreat 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Problem with most ak builds is top rail real estate. If you have one with a good rail on the forend it could be fine. Just keep in mind you'll need space for cheek contact, black eye prevention buffer space, optic, hand, and hook hand prevention space between the rest part of the gun and the flashy boom boom part. Also you'll need to see how far back holding a grip compared to the cheek and and optic you're comfortable with. I expect that to be a rather personal answer that others can't give much guidance on. This is something the ole broomstick gun can give you guidance on nicely.

    Hey buddy.
    How would your cheek pistol concept work if you hand to switch mid fight to your left hand?
    Also if peeking a round to the left would you change anything; hands and/or cheeks, something else entirely?k x

    Great video sir, your concept is almost perfect but you are limited by the tool in your hands. The evolution weapons system bolt will allow you to shorten the gun even more. It uses a bufferless bolt that allows you to get rid of the buffer tube on your build. Your technique does not require you to need a buffertube.

    Cannot wait to build this style AR!
    I'll contact once I have some more income or even department approval for training.

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but couldn't a "bullpup pistol" with a brace achieve this same maneuverability? I've honestly been surprised that no one has manufactured and sold such a gun.

    If only there was a way to prove silencers to be an aid in self defense rather then assisting criminals in conducting unlawful acts based on PRECIDENT. Seems to me if they run in favor of the criminal, we have reached a point of no return?

    ok so the problem with this pitch, there are a couple, but ok, let's just take it on the chin that you need to fit a rifle perfectly lengthwise through a 24" doorway, which, i don't think you actually have to do, even in your scenario, i think you blade off and i don't think I'd have any problem working even your exact problem with a 14.5, certainly not with a 10.3 or indeed a 7.5" gun, but OK i won't make a video about that, so i'll just give it to you outright, I'm still going to want a stock for pretty much every other thing i do in or outside of a house. like, every other thing i do in the world, i want a stock. what you're identifying here, to me, is an argument for something like the LMT CSW stock, but it isn't an argument for a raw tube shoved up against the side of my respirator or my cheek sweat.

      1- If smaller wasn’t easier, tier 1 guys wouldn’t constantly be gravitating towards smaller guns for clearing.
      2- you THINK you need the stock. My videos and my students repeatedly show the same performance without a stock. Unsupported hits at 300yd. .14 splits in cqb distance. Faster transitions.
      All while getting a more mobile and compact shooting structure that lends itself to the most common environments homes and vehicles.

      @@demonstratedconceptsllc4918 i'm aware that you're able to stabilize your cheek pistol, but no, it isn't as good as having my weight loaded on a rifle and using my hips to index a firearm, a stock simply is going to be better.
      smaller, sure! yes small is good. i think something like the CSW or other kind of SBR type builds are great. but the only context where removing that overall length, you say 3", i think there are a lot of stock options, we could argue about how much you're even saving, the only context where cutting that out is helping you is this contrivance of literally holding the gun end to end and fitting it through a gap or into a case to carry. and that advantage disappears the second you have to also fit me and my web gear through the same port, even if you give me a USW, i'm still going to have to blade off and take the door at an oblique angle.
      i think it's creative and neat how you shoot guns. but no, it's not the way forward for clearing rooms and doorways.
