He seems to be a well-grounded and well-adjusted young man with balanced vision of his future. It’s refreshing to see someone not completely dropping off school to pursue their tennis dream. It goes to show that it can be done at the same time, albeit at a slower pace. This kid is worth emulating. More of him please!

I am surprised no one asked Ben about how it feels to have reached a higher ATP ranking at 20 (he is currently n. 43 in the live ranking) than his father's n. 55 at 27 (or n. 52 in doubles at 29), especially when Ben was outside the top 550 in June 2022. It's a truly meteoric rise, and Bryan Shelton must be very proud of him. If Ben makes it to the semi-finals (possibly against Djokovic, though Rublev could always pull some upset), I hope his father can fly over to watch the match, regardless of what the final result may be. Even if Djokovic plays at his ridiculous best (as he did against De Minaur), Ben's awesome serve should score him several games.

For me, Tennis is the best sport in the world. It's not a series of random events unfolding like football is. The rules are very intuitive and not open to interpretation constantly like VAR. The scoring system is brilliant and a match can turn at any second. Look at today's epic between Rune and Rublev for example. It combine immense skill, training and physicality. But more than anything, how mental it is. Just you and your opponent, duelling....without the violence of boxing. Great pros...likeable and educated, with both genders thriving. And finally, awesome fans. No unemployed hooligans.
