After listening and comparing them both some more, the soundcore is 100% better when it comes to maintaining its sound throughout all volumes. JBL Xtreme sounds great at 50%, but as you crank the volume higher, the bass quickly starts rolling off and becomes very anemic at 100% volume. Meanwhile, the Soundcore is still thumping at 100%. @@joshuavantongeren1734I own both speakers & all I can say is that it all depends on where you're going to use it the most? Indoors or outdoors. If your preference is indoors, while it's plugged in, the EXTREME 3 sounds really good at max volume from the highs, mids & bass. The Boom2 doesn't sound anywhere near as open & sounds dirty compared to the EXTREME 3. For outdoor use, I wouldn't use either one of these speakers. Go with the W-KING X10 or D9-1.
This looks solid. I left JBL years ago because in this day and age, they're just overpriced. Back in 2010ish they led the way, but now they're just riding their brand name and not really offering anything of good value. Great review Eric. Technology sure has advanced. Seems crazy that you can spray a speaker with water and it just keeps pushing like nothing is happening. Electricity and water usually dont mix, but here we are, lol. Looks like a good speaker and it sounded like it still had a good amount of bass outdoors as well. How does this stack next to the Tribit Blast or W-King T11?
It's a solid speaker but the Tribit Blast is in a different league. It's much louder with a much bigger sound, but also a lot bigger and heavier as well. In the end it really just depends on what you're looking for in a speaker.
JBL gotta get with the times. They used to be able to charge what they wanted, but now that speakers like this are all over the market, they're just overpriced and underdelivering. If it wasn't for their status of being a popular speaker, I doubt many people would even buy em anymore. Does soundcore sell in stores like best buy? If not, they should definately do so. I'm sure they'll make a killing when people can compare it side by side with a jbl. Great and in depth review Eric!
100% agreed. JBL is old tech at crazy prices. the bass roll offs are just embarrassing and awful compared to these newer internet speaker brands we have. Yet JBL is still one of the most expensive out there
I’m a JBL fan, and have a jbl 310 PARTYBOX and a boombox 3. I also have the 1st version of the soundcore motion boom. Well the Soundcores only feature SBC streaming so the streaming quality is low. The tuning of the drivers is what allows it to play clearly. Wish it had apt x adaptive though it's 2024
I bought a soundcore Boom 2 but I have got a defective unit. The woofer makes a metallic noise even at low volume. I am returning it and I am not sure if I should buy the same again or if it is better get a different speaker..

I have flip 4, partybox 110 and anker motion boom plus. I had Xtreme 3 - I Love JBL sound but X3 dissapointed me so much - it's awkwardly bulky and I thought it would be just in between flip and partybox. It is not and totally not worth the original launching price - maybe 200ish - maybe at this pirce range I'd forgive the sound quality above 70% of volume. I got Boom 2 for 90 USD and I hope it will do the job :D This video is reasuring :D
The Xtreme 3 is definitely a let down. good at low volumes, but 50% and up the bass just vanishes. I also own the JBL Charge 3 and that even sounded better to me. Boom 2 definitely blows them both away while somehow managing to be cheaper as well
In my opinion when a company is tryin.g to make their name known they invest more into build and performance to up the name almost taking a loss to look better. Once they are up there they will cheep out. Why do you think Marshall and JBL first gen sound better.
I just can't get over how the Anker looks like a cheap plastic toy. Good on Anker for continuing to iterate the Soundcore because when it launched it bass was garbage. They have finally caught up to JBL, sadly Sony already ghosted em with a product that doesn't look like my nephew is playing with it.
Which speaker? Sony's new field 1 is not in the same league as the Soundcore. It's weaker and closer to a jbl flip in size / output yet costs the same as the Soundcore. I'll admit it's a sleek looking speaker, but I'm not picking looks over specs and output.

Yeah, if you’re gonna get the EXTREME 3 use it indoors where you can plug it in & get the full 100 watts. In A/C mode you’re getting 25 watts per driver & tweeter. In battery mode, you’re getting 50-60 watts. 12 1/2 - 15 watts per driver & tweeter. This is why it doesn’t sound like 100 watts when it’s plugged in.
