Just purchased my second one. Got the first one yesterday and after playing with it a couple hours I decided to purchase another one. For around $250 you can pair two of them together and nothing will come close to the sound for that price.
that's from the experience you have with those particular speakers at the price. With other speakers, especially when on sale will beat these speakers. for example, jbl encore essential had a same for 99 dollars, motion boom plus had sales where two would be just a little over 250 also, pair those together and i think they would beat these. On top of it all, it's only being march.
Great video. I have bought a SoundCore Boom 2 last week. I was already familiar with other SoundCore speakers. The sound is more than good enough. The bass can get ridiculously low and on volume levels below 50% it has a nice pressure on the low frequent energy. Midrange is great on Boom 2. No hollow sounding low mids and definitely clarity between 500Hz and 3kHz. Great for vocal range and in fact every single instrument in a song (Magic is in the midrange!). The high end frequency spectrum is above average. When looking at the retail price and quality of the speaker, the Boom 2 punches way above its class. It’s the best bang for buck.
Dan, wanted to tell you, i set my Kef system which has a dedicated center to NOT use the center and use a virtual center like the Sony HT-A9, which gives me a 4.1.4 system now. Love the way it sounds without a dedicated center channel speaker, the sound feels more open and you cant tell where the voice is coming, this feel's more like the movie theater. Will switch back in a week and compare, but I think I prefer the virtual center better. Thanks for all your insight Dan, very glad I found your channel, other reviewers just don't give the detail that you do. Like Andrew Robinson, who I love, his videos are all too similar and he seems to recommend and love everything.
@@neverenoughtech I can pick up the HT A9 for $1135 from Crutchfield (open box) or GreenToe for $1200 new. Do u think this is good price or should I wait for Sony to release new products in April. My Uncle works for Sony and from what I understand they are releasing a new audio system, but I have no specs on it. From what my uncle says it will be an updated HTA9 that will work more effectively with the new 2024 Sony TVs that are coming, which all makes sense. The A9 was released almost 3 years ago now, so it’s not a stretch that Sony would be releasing a newer system. Then again the new system would be expensive and the corporate discount my uncle gets isn’t great for new products. What are your thoughts? Thanks Dan.
I purchased a Boom2 about a month ago for $99.99 before taxes on Amazon. If you can get it at this price or less, it’s worth it. At the full retail price of $129.99 there are other speakers in this price range that’ll outperform it. The bass & highs are over pronounced in comparison to the mids. I tried listening to it outside & had trouble hearing any details in the midrange. This is because that the racetrack woofer is required to produce the mids & bass. It performs much better indoors than outdoors. I bought this speaker mainly for outdoor use. I’m seriously considering buying another to pair together for TWS.😊
Liar! They are all close to each other. In some places, JBL beats Anker and even Bose. Watch it compare with Bose; Look how much difference there is. Bose seems to offer very little depth in sound. $130 vs $400, the winner is clear. Anker has definitely become a quality brand. The fact that you come and make such a bad comment shows your character. Why should I pay 3-4 times the price for the JBL brand? It seems like you are either brand addicted or you don't understand quality products. It's ridiculous to pay so much money just for JBL's brand name. Anker is both more affordable and of high quality. If you did a little research you'd see it too. Ignoring such an obvious difference is either a sign of ignorance or malicious intent.
I own both of these speakers & all that I can say is that Boom2 will outperform the EXTREME 3 while running off of the battery outdoors. Indoors while the EXTREME 3 is plugged in is a different story. A lot of people don’t realize this, but this speaker performs much better when it’s plugged in getting full power & placed near a wall. So if you’re in the market for an indoor speaker for the kitchen or the bedroom, using the EXTREME 3 is definitely the way to go. For outdoor use where overall low bass & sound quality isn’t as important where as volume, clarity & battery life are, go with the Boom2. It’s also more portable.
please compare to motion boom plus, same watts , smaller design update, I got both, for indoors i like boom 2, boom plus it s good outside. returned the boom plus
I was going to suggest the same thing. It’s the same driver set up. Two woofers, with two tweeters and two passive radiators. Granted it is a bit bigger, but still a lot cheaper and it says it is dust proof also
I like it for the size and price. I might get a second one to pair. I pair it with my boom plus right now and it’s very good. Boom plus > boom 2. Again, for the price…it’s good. I like to compare speakers by price and not stats. Of course, there are so many other speakers that sounds better.
how is the sound and bass compared in lower volumes? like 40-50% and over 80%? my boom plus doesnt push bass anymore after 75% but on lower volumes sounds amazing
@paladinul Ya, I totally agree. The Boom Plus sounds great at lower volumes and a bit muddy past 75%. The mids and highs just scream. As for the Boom 2, the bass holds up better at higher volumes even at 100%. It’s not perfect by any means, but much better than the Boom Plus (not as loud though). At lower volumes, the Boom Plus wins overall…louder, crisper, wider range and more bass. I think the Boom Plus sounds better than the Boom 2. Size is really the reason why I got the Boom 2. They are not really a fair comparison in my opinion. If size doesn’t matter, stick with the Boom Plus. Both decent speakers overall. Not the best, but good for the price.
The Jbl xtreme connectivity issue means it’s defective I’ve had 3 different individual jbl xtreme 3s and none of them had that issue but the boom 2 is better
I never got into the soundcore ecosystem, i think nowadays its like apple vs samsung. All these companies have their own signature sound. I prefer the JBL i like their sound and im way toooo invested in their ecosystem lol
Perhaps but I think the argument here is if you don’t want to spend that much … then what do you do? Everyone’s got different money situations and how much they think it’s worth to spend on a speaker
Well, it is not always about price. The only thing that can fit into my bag are these two, with Soundcore already taking space for antinoise headphones, with its plastic handle. Boombox is too big, and if I wanted to go big, the Partybox 320 would be next in line to get.
I own two motion booms and they sound good imo. I listened for hours of the differences between the boom 2 and the booms. I own 2 boom 2s and 2 boom pluses two. It is pretty bad ass having two boom 2 and two pluses hooked up through party cast though. Imo they went with a warmer sound on the boom 2 and i tried forever to try to get it to sound as crisp as some of the beats and vocals that the boom OG can produce. sound core CLAIMS that the boom 2 goes louder but id say the boom goes maybe 10 percent louder, granted its not as much bass its still very good. The boom 2 does indeed put out more bass if you are next to it close and if you put it high on a shelf by a wall and a ceiling or a bathroom wall it produces a great sound and the lights are cool. the plus as a pair will blow the boom 2 away outside. Id describe the plus as being good but really good outside as a pair the farther away you are. In the end ill keep both boom 2s, both pluses and yes ill keep the OG booms too because on some songs like edm and high vocal music its just so clear with my settings of course. I also use my own extra eq where i can add more eq and more bass but turn the settings down as i increase volume. That really makes the boom OG come alive close to what the boom 2 is. Id say for rock music the boom 2 excels. Can anyone tell me why the boom sounds brighter and crisper and goes louder than the boom 2? Is it because the boom 2 uses two SILK dome tweeters and one race track driver and the boom uses two Titanium drivers? Im trying to understand this. Or maybe its because of the crossover they chose with the boom 2? I also want to add that at least 40 to 50 percent volume the boom 2 is a fantastic sounding speaker with depth. Id even say up close it has more bass than the plus.
I have not heard both but I think the 2 is more focused on the low end given the bigger center woofer (subwoofer) - I did mention in the review some added clarity up top would improve the balance. But - a darn good value - in either case
@@neverenoughtech If all companies put lights on the product the percentage of people buying the products that have light makes it an irrelevant way to measure if customers want lights.
I have the Motion Boom. I have the Boom 2. The Boom 2 sounds better. I don’t like the lights on the Boom 2. I don’t turn them on. Happy camper. End of story
