I think the design and concept of this creature doesn’t get enough credit. It’s perhaps one of the greatest imaginings of the mind, a monstrosity that perfectly represents all of our pain as it’s projected onto the world. The suffering in its eyes! And the name - Anima - so beautiful. In the realm of fantasy, it doesn’t get any better than this.
I definitely agree with you After anima practically every game after this don't have anything especial more away of the graphics and the better look but Final fantasy X it's art. Seymour was my FF favorite villain when I was a kid because of how annoying was to fight him over and over LOL. For me he was so annoying but he gave so epic moments and fights, of course he was crazy like a f*cking goat LOL
That thing is his mom...... Part of the reason I think Anima is so powerful is that it's technically a Final Aeon that never became Sin. Seymour's mother sacrificed herself to become the Final Aeon which Seymour never used to fight Sin.
His mother is a faith so how can it be Anima. I think it's just a representation of her power but they don't live on to be Aeons, especially one as fucke dup as that.
Seymour is still just a summoner, as blind as the others. He is a Guado. Yuna is only special for being part Al Bhed! the Al Bhed kidnapping summoners I think did not turn out to be a factual occurrence as there were no other summoners at the Al Bhed compound if I remember right. Seymour's blind faith to create a powerful new Sin would still bring a 10 year calm, but he is also willing to sacrifice himself for Yevon. If Tidus was the final aeon, knowing nothing of Yevon (even though it is loosely based on his home sport), maybe the empathy mixed with a little psychological incest with Jecht brought about the Final Calm...
And didn't Seymour turn out to be an unsent? It's been almost 10 years... but I remember Yuna goes to the Farplane in X-2 to send at least Shuyin who is supposed to be Tidus unsent, making it very possible that the unsent are the only ones capable of becoming the Final Aeon. Probably how the Fayth exists. There has to be some kind of reason some of the unsent become hostile and others do not, maybe that some become Guardians. Yunalesca was very evil though... I want to see more of her.
Never noticed that she cries blood everythime she inflicts PAIN. On the other hand you can see her in the medal, also the "zombie" arms around Anima are her human arms as well, she wears the same bracelets like when she was alive... uhhh deep deep, never get tired of this game.
If you maxed up Yuna's stats and got Anima as one of her aeon's, Pain will deal ridiculous 99,999 damage points to enemies. Yuna can single handedly fight Sin.

It is the Japanese [non-Catholic Japanese at least] interpretation of Penance, which is self-punishment for doing a wrong...in this case, Anima [another Catholic name btw as the Summon], she feels personal pain for her son's well being or mental state...thus when her son summons her, she reflects it. The Mary necklace on her is another proof of this.
I remember being terrified by this scene when I first played FF10 when I was younger. Also, its face kind of reminds me of another thing that terrified me in my childhood; Evangelion Unit 1.

She cared more about "science" than her own son, to the point of getting into a relationship with the most disgusting individual in the game and running experiements on her own son. Ive seen so many critters with lazer eyes but none of them really gave the visual that the lazer was powerful. The way this building size monster recoils violently while leaning into the shot says alot about how strong the blast is.

There's also a lot of Roman Catholic and Jungian psychosexual imagery in Anima as well- even the name Anima means the subconscious female mind that a man "chains up" within himself.
Greekz when a final aeon is summoned to kill sin Yu Yevon possesses it and then kills the summoner. Then that aeon becomes the new sin. Apart from that a final aeon wouldn't kill it's summoner.
I’ll never forget when we were escaping Macalania, and I saw the Guado summon fiends. My blood ran cold from realising they were the ones who brought the fiends to Luca just so Seymour could show off.
Have you tried super nintendo’s FF6? I think it has one of the best character design and storylines of all final fantasy series. FF10 was definitely great too. my second fav
I am 32 but FFVI is too old for me. I never could get into those old Super Nintendo and Sega games...even when i was young. Not until Nintendo 64 and PlayStation. If they ever get around to a VI remake i will give it a try.
3rd powerful actually 1st:Yojimbo 2nd:Anima 3rd:Bahamut 4: Sister 5:Shiva 6:Ifrit 7:Ixion 8:Valefor Yojimbo take care of your biggest problem (like a dark aeon) just use 1 power, Zamato Anima, he doesn't even need a pain, or magic skill, all she gotta do is just 1 attack and bam the enemy kill off easy just like that, Bahamut, He not really THAT powerful but he really damn strong aeon, he can take care of emeny easy when your character is still not strong enough yet, I honestly don't know how to explain about the sister, these 3 aeon together are damn really good, Their overdrive is almost every emeny can't block that Shiva, She really beautiful and cool aeon, She actually really useful that she can keep up with emeny as long you have a MP to keep use ice power on herself Shiva to heal her up, her attack is good but not that good as Bahamut but she can keep up more than Bahamut because of her MP to freezecure herself, Ifrit is actually very similar but not that strong as Shiva, Ifrit can also heal himself with any fire power with MP, He very strong aeon but can keep up as well thank to firehealing Ifrit, Also similar but with thunder to heal himself, he decent, Not that strong but he alright, he need little bit more training tho Valefor, He need alot training, He help you from a start in beginning but once you keep going to ending, Valefor won't be strong enough to keep fighting a emeny, Sadly he doesn't have anything to cure himself but he help you alot when you are a noob in very beginning of the game So basically Velfor, Bahamut and Anima is only 3 aeon that need a cure to heal themselves up to make them stronger, You can actually buy 99 HI Potion to get them stronger but it won't be perfect tho, it not curaga tho, I think It just Cure But yeah To me Yojimbo is a strongest one

My sister and I since we were little have always pronounced her name Aw-nee-ma. Always have. Personally we think it sounds cooler and more like a name then how most people and Warcraft say it. Anima may seem scary yet even when we were young, we’ve always had a great liking to her. Scary but a gentle soul and a strong will. Since we’ve had the game since it came out, we’ve always had it, and thus always had Anima. We summoned her all the time😄!

Kinda funny how Seymour plotted this scene to appear as some savior by letting Anima demonstrate her overwhelming power. I mean, Anima took down countless dangerous beasts within seconds. Too bad FFX has no open world version like FFXV or Strangfer of Paradise. I'd sooo play Anima!
I don’t know about in the newer releases but in the orinal PS2 versión there was a glitch. If you went through the ice temple (forget the name) and didn’t collect all of the items to unlock Anima, then left, and didn’t return before you got to a certain point, you could never enter the temple again. So basically if you weren’t tracking, and progressed too much in the game and tried to unlock him, you couldn’t. I was soooooooooooo pissed

You think his screams are cause he’s fighting no using his powers hurts him cause before his first attack his bandages on his head are clean but firing off his attack his eye starts bleeding heavily and he screams

I got this on Xbox X now. I decided to go unlock Anima. Yeah thats not happening as easily. I go to Besaid and Dark Valefor is waiting for me. I checked his HP, and I may as well be fighting emerald or ruby weapon. I guess this was added in later because I dont remember this at all

Anima is one of the deepest and most intense characters of Final Fantasy...and she never even says a single word. I love her summon.

Ifrit, Also similar but with thunder to heal himself, he decent, Not that strong but he alright, he need little bit more training tho
Valefor, He need alot training, He help you from a start in beginning but once you keep going to ending, Valefor won't be strong enough to keep fighting a emeny, Sadly he doesn't have anything to cure himself but he help you alot when you are a noob in very beginning of the game
So basically Velfor, Bahamut and Anima is only 3 aeon that need a cure to heal themselves up to make them stronger, You can actually buy 99 HI Potion to get them stronger but it won't be perfect tho, it not curaga tho, I think It just Cure
But yeah To me Yojimbo is a strongest one
Looking back now anima’s design is terrifying i dont get how im not afraid of this when i played ffx as a kid but somehow its my favorite summon cuz how OP it is

My sister and I since we were little have always pronounced her name Aw-nee-ma. Always have. Personally we think it sounds cooler and more like a name then how most people and Warcraft say it. Anima may seem scary yet even when we were young, we’ve always had a great liking to her. Scary but a gentle soul and a strong will. Since we’ve had the game since it came out, we’ve always had it, and thus always had Anima. We summoned her all the time😄!

I don’t know about in the newer releases but in the orinal PS2 versión there was a glitch. If you went through the ice temple (forget the name) and didn’t collect all of the items to unlock Anima, then left, and didn’t return before you got to a certain point, you could never enter the temple again. So basically if you weren’t tracking, and progressed too much in the game and tried to unlock him, you couldn’t. I was soooooooooooo pissed
Anima I found terrifying and sad at the same time cause he’s imprisoned and using his powers badly hurts him. You think his screams are cause he’s fighting no using his powers hurts him cause before his first attack his bandages on his head are clean but firing off his attack his eye starts bleeding heavily and he screams

I got this on Xbox X now. I decided to go unlock Anima. Yeah thats not happening as easily. I go to Besaid and Dark Valefor is waiting for me. I checked his HP, and I may as well be fighting emerald or ruby weapon. I guess this was added in later because I dont remember this at all
