I can't recommend the 5-Minute-Workout enough. It brought me from nothing to now 120 bpm and even more. I practise it at least one hours every day since about 3 or 4 months and the results are insane. I'm now pracitcing the licks on different positions of the neck (3rd and 15th fret) to also get used to those positions (and because the string action of my Fender Strat is just so high at the higher frets. 🙂 ). Thanks again Lukas. Your lessons really changed a lot for me in my guitar playing. 🙂
Man. I was on that train for a while. Always an hour a day. Sometimes 2-3 hrs a lot of the time. Then my ol lady started going through changes as always and I got stressed out depressed tense. I can't play when I'm like that 😕 I have to be relaxed or i can't pull it off
It’s funny. The things you mentioned about holding pick and grip I eventually figured out the hard way. Wish I’d have seen this when I started playing.
Chris Poland and Tobi Morelli are two guitarist, off the top of my head, that can shread with an almost "reverse" pick grip. I used to pick just like them, but it just wasnt working for me so I switched to a more "traditional" grip and I play much better. What works for some, may not work for you. I may take a few months to readjust, but its not that bad. Warm ups and excercises also never held my interest, so I just learned songs that pushed my technique. Most bands will have songs easier than others and you just build up from there. I started a lot of my technical playing with Megadeth, which ironically was very difficult, got easier after Rust in Peace. So I started with some of the easier solos and worked my way back to some of their old stuff. Wrist motion. I 100% agree. Its a difficult thing, for me. However its super worth it. I was an "elbow" playing for a while and some songs just burned my forearm up. Wrist and finger motions are my key. Remember to have fun, not everyone needs to be a "pro shredder" so get yourself to a level you enjoy and have fun!
I keep my ring, middle, and pinky fingers open instead of curled ONLY because Dave Mustaine did when I was 15. I'm 53 now and it's nearly impossible to change.
I find I can go faster on the thicker strings. When I get to the thin B and E string my plectrum gets caught, and sometime my hand hits the volume control too LOL.
Buy a stylus guitar pick It will be a pain in the ass but trust me it will help extremely with your picking use it for practice then swap to a normal pick
Could speed be limited by a pick that is too thick? Strings that are too thick? Action that is too low? I’m running 12-60 at standard tuning on low action with a 96mm Dunlop pick. (That’s what it says. Obviously it must be .96)
Subscribed advice sounds really legit.
Lukas you are a good person. Looking forward to more. 💯💢👌👏👏👏

Amazing tips as always! Thanks Lukas 🤘
That mustache = instant credibility
You should make a playlist with the exercises, bro. Keep it up.
+1 Mustache \m/
I get stuck under strings. No matter the angle.
Edit: until i tried what you said! Thank you so much!

@@andrewesquibel2523what is that? What does it do ?
What is the pick you use?
My issue is my fingers flail a bit much when descending. I feel solid ascending
I find I have to spend more time on the descending parts to get them under my fingers
