I've swapped out lids from one brand to another, mainly because the original cap seal was crap. Nice cup, so I just swap out the cap with a better one.
Great review. Thanks! I've been researching tumblers and I like everything about this one (esp the fact that it's made from 90% recycled stainless steel and Kleen Kanteen is BCorp ceritifed), however the lid is also putting me off as I'm getting a tumbler mostly for driving as well. Do you know if this style of tumbler have the same size top opening? They all seem to be of a very similar size so I wonder if you could take the lid from another tumbler (say a Camelbak or a Yeti) and use it on this? They you'd have the best of both worlds.
Thanks, appreciate the compliment!! I probably wouldn’t recommend buying two and swapping lids, while the diameter might be the same, ever mug has a different taper to the lid, and a different way that they stay put (friction vs screw-on, etc). If you are looking to use it while driving, so far the Yeti Rambler is my favorite option. Here’s my link if you want to go that direction (paid link): amzn.to/3wo0Fkt
The original Klein kanteen insulated tumblers (solid colour) with cafe cap 2.0 is great better than this one in my opinion. I don’t like the dual tones I think the original Looks better but more importantly it is leak proof as well as you can drink while driving/ walking etc
I respect that opinion, however the same concern could be applied in many other circumstances, such as on mass transit or in the passenger seat of the car.

Oh wow, what lids did you interchange? I've always assumed they are all mostly proprietary.

is it leaking for you too? mine leaks a lot
It definitely isn't a leak proof design by any means, more slosh resistant.

It’s designed to be able to open and cool the drink down, you’re not supposed to be drinking your coffee when you’re driving anyway
