great episode on this one, maybe my favorite and maybe because your tour guide was super cool and that Buster's stop was excellent. enjoyed watching your conversations with those guys and doing the tastings.
I’m from NW Ohio. My son attends University of Memphis. Every time we visit we stop at Busters. Never been disappointed. Always seem to have allocated available at reasonable prices. And their single barrel picks are 2nd to none. Absolutely love Busters. And their new butcher shop is awesome.
I bought a bottle of Barrell Seagrass rye for $72 after you said it was good. My local liquor store didn't have the orange label but thought I would give this a try and I'm glad I did!! 121 proof and 60% alcohol on this particular bottle and it's very smooth. Definitely a good call.
That smoke wagon single barrel "private barrel" right around 10:00 is usually exceptional as far as MGP goes. I have 4 different ones I bought straight from Smoke Wagon and they're all incredible. I paid $95 for each one straight from smoke wagon. Not sure what they were selling that one for in store
@@louidaiv2387the 4 I have are 5 year MGP rye. But they did a really good job pulling these barrels. All 4 of mine are a different barrel and they’re all awesome
I gotta echo everyone in these comment sections. I had zero knowledge of bourbon or “hunting”, nor did I know I’d ever be interested in this stuff. Now a month later I’m going into liquor stores looking for bourbon, bought two glencairns, and I talk about “flavors” when I drink them lol Never woulda imagined this would become a hobby of mine lol
Spirits of Timbercreek was down the road from my childhood home. I went there as a kid and worked there for three years as a college job. Great family owned liquor store that treats their customers right. Shoutout to Andy (the store manager there now)! That store played a big part in my growth of knowledge in all types of spirits.
The New Southern Revival Jimmy Red Corn is delicious! Previously I've only been able to find them for $100, and that's local to their distillery in Charleston!! You DEFINITELY should have picked a couple up for that price! I'd buy every bottle they had at $35!!!!
Brewzle has that Keith Lee clout, its getting him into back rooms faster than a 2-year customer 😂😂 I high key would be mad if I was a loyal customer who has been looking for that one bottle and brewzle just walks in and gets it after a 20 minute conversation lmaooo
I grew up in Cordova, and then I moved back for a couple years after college. Natalie’s was my go to store. Super cool seeing you explore Memphis and hit the same stores I do when I go back and visit
The Redwood Empire BIB offerings have a very similar profile to the regular label from them. Whereas the cask strength offerings taste drastically different. Thats probably why he doesn't like them as much. I would recommend giving the cask a shot though! They're pretty darn good.
Keep up this content! I only have a few bourbon channels I frequent, but i know my watch time on your channel demolishes the others, really enjoying this stuff! Great work man.
Ate at the Peg Leg Porker in Nashville last summer and tried their bourbon and totally agree, it's bloody good straight bourbon and the BBQ is outstanding too.
I grow sorghum and love the flavor of the "molasses" that comes from it. I would have definitely grabbed a couple of those Revival sorghum whiskey bottles, because I've never seen a sorghum whiskey before!
I love your videos and have learned so much about bourbon after binge watching a half a year of your content. thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge.
Couldnt love your videos more I am from the midwest and know that you arent the biggest Rye lovers but would highly reccomend either Blaum Brothers or FEW whiskey bourbon out of Illinois as they are my go to's
I agree. I don't really know what I like so much about these videos but learning about bourbon and local distilleries doesn't get any better than Brewzie. This guy simply knows his shit. And I have learned alot so far. I am hooked
Thanks TJ. I like bourbon now. Tried two of your budget recommended and yes, i get it. Never knew why I hated scotch so much and stayed away from whisky. Cause a good bourbon was my whisky. Great videos, more travels and bourbon hunting please.
Redwood Empire Bottled in Bond are not sourced and the mashbill is different. They are absolutely the best bottles coming out of Redwood Empire, BUT the cask strength Pipedream is very close (and it's cheaper). If you ever see the Bottled in Bonds at $70 or less they are well worth picking up. This video was very good to see. I travel to Memphis a few times a year and I didn't expect to see as nice of shops. Just recently one of the bourbon groups I follow (SE Missouri) posted some pretty crazy hauls from Memphis and the Bootheel of MO. Crazy how different the bourbon world can be just 2 hours driving away. I'll certainly visit that shop for their first Saturday of the Month drop soon.
Elijah Craig single barrel releases are one of my favorites. Current have the C923, 137 proof, age 13 years 7months. Delicious!. $70 for that age and proof is outstanding. Also on the Angels Envy,,drank those early in bourbon days but now pass on the standard stock bottle. Bought a single barrel store pick at 115 proof for $99 on a chance and got a delicious bottle. Will definitely look for more of the single barrels. Lastly,,,,,Bardstown 6 year single barrel store picks. Absolutely one of best bottles I’ve ever purchased. After sampling at Cool Springs spirits close to Nashville knew this one couldn’t be passed on. The distillate is actually Bardstown, not sourced. $64. My mistake was not purchasing additional bottles. As TJ stated, it coats the mouth. Just an awesome bourbon.
I was in Memphis last year when that ice storm came through around Christmas. It ruined my bourbon hunting, but I did get to tour the Old Dominick Distillery and get some great fried chicken across the street. Good times
I hope to see south side liquors, Harry’s wine & spirits, elxR wine/spirits, and riverside spirits on here someday. All within a few minutes of each other in Bradley and Polk county TN. I’ve been tagging yelling some of the riverside spirits stuff 👍🏼
Those rare character the amburana is outstanding. I’m always trying to keep it on the shelf. Also those BiB redwoods are their own distillate. Not MGP like the rest. The rocket top is king
Good God almighty!!!! I have never see that on the shelves either! I gotta go to Memphis. Even when I flew to Louisville I didn’t see that line up! Good business bud. I’m living through you today 😂😂😂 I’m subbing just cause that.. from Raleigh NC…
Stumbled across your channel and have been learning so much. You mentioned a brand I didn't catch the name of it but you mentioned it several times in reference to orange labels

Hey man I hope you see this. I went to Colorado once and had 291 Colorado Bourbon Whiskey Small Batch. One of the best bourbons I have ever had and would love for you to try it someday
Try Blanton's single barrel bourbon it comes in a 700ml bottle its sweet with notes of citrus and oak it's got a vanilla nose with some caramel and butterscotch it's also got some clove, nutmeg and cinnamon i think you would love it
So, just because it doesn't say distilled by doesn't mean they don't distill the bottle. 13th Colony distills their own Double Oaked but they also contract it out because they have a small distillery. They give their mashbill, and their sour mash, and ingredients to who they contract distill with.
If you see some Dryfly stuff you should buy it! They make everything at a distillery in Spokane, Washington. Ive toured it a couple times and everything is made in-house. Really good straight wheat cask strength whiskey.
First store considering secondary in kentucky, eht sb for 75 is a little under secondary but ive seen some posted for 75 recently. Blantons 100 is pretty standard but not worth at that value
I'm just getting into Bourbons and Whiskey. I too am in Alabama (thanks to the military). Where are some places around here that offer bourbon/whiskey tastings? I'm familiar with probably the most basic of "bar starter bourbons," but I'd like to try others without dumping $150+ on items I wont even like.
I'm glad I finally got to see him try something from Bardstown. I bought their bottled in bond and finished the whole thing in just a few weeks. I liked it so much I just kept coming back to it.
I’m a Chicago land man and to see Penelope barrel strength at $75 I said GD ! Even see the toasted and $75 I pay $56 all day. Maximum maybe 64.99. lol and we’re talking an area that serves the regular bottle of eagle rare for 90 bucks
