Just an FYI.... Stainless steel was named "stainless" when it was invented. It was never designed to be rust free. That is it was formulated to "stains less" than a mild or high carbon steel. Never originally meant to never rust.

    • @iflick7235
      @iflick7235 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

Do you remember the "grill test"? In the market for a stainless steel grill, you would go through home depot with a magnet. If the magnet stuck, it was low quality stainless. I wonder if the magnet sticks to this. This truck is a bust.

If something is "painless" there is no pain, if someone is "clueless" they have no clue, if something is "stainless" it's supposed to have no stains. It may have been misnamed from the start but the idea that it stains "less" does not follow common grammar.

No, it's not the most egregious failing or omission by far. The Cyber Truck has not been submitted for any standardized crash testing of any sort. Neither the NHTSA nor the IIHS have been presented with one of these vehicles for evaluation.
I quizzed Jason from Engineering Explained on this topic, following his review in which he failed to mention this. In all fairness, that seems par for the course with Cyber Truck reviewers. His response was along the lines of "I forgot to mention that, but there's a sticker on the truck that says that the vehicle has not been independently tested for crash worthiness".
Yeah, the reversing camera is bad, the tyre cover is worse, but no crash test rating? Wow.

I’ve lost count to service center visits, at least 30.. door handle replacements, motor replacement, front screen replacement, battery pack replacement (it still worked but the electronics developed a ground fault). if you think your battery is going to last anywhere near that mileage, I have some sad news for you...
lithium batteries don't last a long time. fast charging? degrades the battery. cold? degrades the battery. sitting there? degrades the battery. aggressive discharging? you get the point...
2.5% per year on average. if you start at 300mi, you will lose approx. 7.5mi/year in range.
if you had 6 trucks since 1979, that's an average of 7.5 years per truck. after 7.5 years of the CT, you will have lost 56mi of range, leaving you with 244mi, but requiring the same charge time as it did when new... and that's provided you do everything to prolong battery life.
there is no mention of the cost of the battery, but it is roughly 3 times the capacity of the range extender, so let's assume 3x the cost of $16,000, which is $48,000, even though it's a full vehicle disassembly, not a drop in solution.
off-roading with it? 7000lbs pushing down onto a sharp rock and you puncture the battery, lithium will ignite and burn your vehicle. hopefully you can escape, but with electric doors...

Ryan, thanks for the great video update on CT!
I have pretty much watched all the referenced videos of analysis have come to the same conclusions.
In the words of Elon, "Production is hard", so true as half my 60 years was spent working in some form of production.
I am glad my reservation will not be available until 09/2026. This will allow time for maturity, and maybe I will follow through with a purchase?
RAM REV is set for its daybreak soon. I also have a reservation for it, though, Iam sure we will see the pain and growns here too!
    Keep up the great work!!
    Johm

That is likely to require different castings as the CT incorporates the skin into the frame strength. That weight would need to be returned to the frame if the aluminum skin was not structural. I don't see any gains.

@@danharold3087 that exoskeleton nonsense was a pipe dream. Skin on this offers no structure. In fact, they reduced the thickness of the original planned stainless steel.

@@Meatball2022 I did not use the term exoskeleton as there is not a single definition.
The skin on the CT contributes to stiffness as well as crash crumple. One of the in factory videos mentions how much stiffness comes from the sail and how much crumple is provided by the front fender.
