I’m having the same problem. I tried connecting my HDD to my laptop just to look at the settings and make sure they were right and they were and once I plugged it back into my it worked for one game then it stopped working. So I have no idea what the problem is :/
There is an issue with the app for some users with 4K resolution with this update. Try setting your Xbox's system resolution to 1080p and see if that works...for now
Great video, thanks. I was able to get Dolphin up and running on the first go just by memorising the steps from this video. I'll give the cheats and texture packs a go next.
for anyone like me who couldnt get any cover art there may be a file called Cache on your hard drive, delete this file and make a new folder called Cache then inside that folder make another folder called GameCovers and that should fix it.

I already installed it on my Series S when i look to add a folder on the server, the folder doesn’t show up, it only recognizes my device and nothing else. I have RetroArch which can pick up my games on my Xbox server no problem but with Dolphin it seems complicated for me for some reason
I appreciate the guide but no matter what I keep running into issues. Every time I set my game folders it never populates the menu, and when I restart my app, the folders aren't saved in the config. Is there something I am doing wrong? It looked so streamlined in your video.
hey man great videos. I've been using dolphin on my series s for a while now with no issues, but recently I've been getting constant crashes when selecting a game. I'm not sure what the issue is or why it happened all of a sudden. I've tried disabling/enabling various settings randomly but nothing helps. Do you have any suggestions? If not, is there somewhere I can look to get help?
Hey man. Everytime i click “exit game” it brings me back to the development mode screen on my xbox and when i try to relaunch dolphin, it just freezes on the dolphin logo. Any thoughts on this? Im using version 1.14 now
@@tylerm311 oh really? I started using retro arch cuz it works much better cuz dolphin straight up doesn’t work it just freezes my console and I can’t get out of it unless I restart but imma do that again
Everything else is perfect . The video the instructions. In the next new update what they should add I highly recommend, is change of type controller configuration just like they have in retroarch . That’s playable fully in WII games particularly . That’s the only issue with this because some games we are unable to play have to go back and forth to the PC to change and modify and the controllers input for each game which can be Exhausting. Please Add New controller configuration in settings for new update . I.e .. Classic Controller , WII Remote , Nunchuk Classic Controller and more .

My controller still can't work with the Dolphin Emulator here. I tried launching any GameCube game, but with no luck. I only got the emulator to play F-Zero GX and Kirby Air Ride as RetroArch doesn't display the race courses of these games correctly.
Thank you for the video. This was a big help though I have one question. What is the best way to connect more than 2 controllers to a PC? Is there a specific adapter you use? I can only connect one via BT and one via USB c cord. Would it even map properly using a Bluetooth connection? Thank you.
Black screen when loading games now, tried different resolutions in Dolphin & Xbox settings, tried changing the location of the Dolphin settings which had made no difference. Worked perfect before this update 😭
@@expensive1 Thanks for the helpful reply Tim, I've tried all that before commenting, the covers and games show up no problem but just get a black screen when loading, I double checked the permissions and it made no difference. Previous version worked fine though.
FYI, the IPL thing actually works now as of the 1.1.5.2 update. I tested it with Mario Sunshine yesterday and the gamecube boot-up screen came on and the game was loaded afterwards, and I played it for a good while, and no crashes.

hello i have a problem, everything works fine but i only can play gamecube games, when open a wii game is open regular with the compiling shadows but after that the screen stay in black, and this only happen with the wii games.

Everything went A OK except setting up the xbox controls in PC . Now controls in game don't work . Followed instructions to a T. Plugged it in the PC. Coppied it back . Set to read only . Idk Update: Figured it out. I had a profile saved in the control settings. Deleted the folder . Appeared to be conflicting a main setting somehow.
I set the path for my game cube and wii games, I pressed L and back button together. I waited a couple of minutes and none of the games appear. I'm so frustrated.
Thanks for the video, got it working! However any time I run games with any shader compilation except Skip Drawing, I get stutters. Some games are worse than others. Any tips?
I'm so happy I got my Fire Emblem and Double Dash working along with Paper Mario Thousand Year Door! Plays full screen better resolution then on the gamecube amazing!

Hey I'm getting these weird files in my config folder that are copies of the other files but have .xxx on them. I've deleted them but they just come back and I'm not sure if this has anything to do with my controller not having any input when I boot up a game. Have any suggestions on what to do?
Am I the only one having a problem with the menu being really laggy and slow? Sometimes I have to press down a bunch of times to get it to recognize the input. Is it just me?
Games are not popping up on the menu and giving the HDD permits didn't do any good, anyone has any idea why is this happening? I can boot the games from retroarch no problem! Edit: Used the xbox usb tool and everything worked to perfection
Everything works fine, except my controls. I copied my data over to Dolphin on PC, and modified the controls to my liking. After transferring the data back to my USB, the modifications to the controls don’t seem to be applied. I’ve been trying to configure my controller for Super Mario Galaxy, but nothing seems to work. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
used dolphin once, the games worked fine. closed the app and reopened and the games crash the app as soon as I click them. redoing the usb permissions did not work?
I can't get the Xbox series s controller to work the same way it works on RetroArch dolphin... I choose dolphin menu and controls, when i select Xbox one and try to choose a profile i choose Wii+ Nunchuck and can't get any Wii game to work with the series s controller...
Great content as always my man! But i do have a question in regards to save and load states. Is it possible to activate it in this version of dolphin? And if so can i set up hotkeys? I attempted to set it up on PC version but the hotkey controllers didnt copy over to console.
If I were to be playing smash melee and wanted to play locally with some mates (couch pvp, not online), would connecting another controller do the trick or do I need to set something up to do that.
Help Please! When I add the Wii and Gamecube folders from the external USB, when I exit, no game appears, not one, and in the other standalone apps like as ps2, like as Aether and XBSX2, the games appear perfectly, not in this app.
I am having trouble saving game states -- it gives me an error message top left saying "Failed to open file for writing..." so when I reload games I have no progress saved. Can anybody help??
Thanks for the video! I'm not sure what I do wrong, but my games just doesn't show up i Dolphin. - I do have an external harddrive attached - It is registered as Media - I have added the paths to both my GameCube and Wii folders, which contains the games - Tried both having the games in the root of the respective folders, and having them in individual folders for each game - neither work - The Wii games are WBFS format, GameCube games ISO format. and both works perfectly in Dolphin on my PC. - The harddrive is functioning, Dreamcast GDI files works fine in FlyCast on the Xbox I honestly got no clue what I do wrong :(
@@ArchadesGames I did. Turns out theres a bug on Series S atm. with this specific version of Dolphin. Games will only work when the console is set to 1080p unfortunately :(

Super Mario Galaxy freezes and continues every 3 seconds or so... I don't know if it is my old mechanical usb drive. I'm not using texture packs or anything, just plain default configuration.
I had updated last night. I had dolphin before but had only done all the steps but my x controller registered as a standard so never played dolphin. Downloaded this one, put in folders I already had and it all worked. THANK YOU, not sure why it doesn't work for others. Maybe that dolphin set to read only file

Was I under the wrong impression that Dolphin performance was supposed to be super solid on Xbox Series S? I got everything set up and I'm noticing that every game will freeze for a split second every so often, like a super quick stutter. Other than that the frame rate seems fine. I have textures pre loading and all that, got res set to 1080p. Is this a normal limitation of the Series S? Thanks
i add the cheats and they work on the pc but when i turn of read only, transfer the files, then turn read only back on, the cheats are not there on the xbox
The same thing happened to me. On one TV it worked and on the other TV it would crash. To fix the issue, go to your Xbox settings, go to display and make sure your resolution is set to 1080p. Mine was set to 720p and once I changed it, Dolphin booted fine. Cheers.
Followed this guide and everything works and loads up. However I've noticed in some games like Super Mario Sunshine the fps drops and rises alot. Like it'll reach 60fps for a few seconds, then dip down to like 5fps and back up to 60fps for a few seconds and rinse and repeat. Has anyone come across this issue and have a solution for this? Also, I can't scan or lock on in metroid prime, just kinda focuses but no lock on or scan.

Hey so I used Dolphin on PC to enable hacks on Super Mario Sunshine (60fps and Widescreen w/ Gecko Codes), and change my controller config. Everything worked fine, but now Dolphin takes forever to open on my Series S. It went from 30 seconds, to like 3 minutes. Is this normal? Is there a way to make it faster? Anyways thanks a lot for the guide!
Only thing I don't like is the controls lol how A and are flipped. Same thing with Y and X.. basically how the actual gamecube controller is set up .. other than that, it runs smooth and graphics are good
I'm sorry if this has already been answered, but is there a solution for wiimote sensor bars in Dolphin? I've heard that the third party Mayflash sensor bar can break if you pump too much electricity thru the USB port. I haven't found any information on its use with Xbox Series. Since the Xbox doesn't have gyro support, we'd have to use an actual Wiimote and you can't use wiimotes without a sensor bar (or lots of candles to DIY it lol)

Might be obvious for someone else on here, but I got the emulator up and running yesterday and everything was fine. I went to run it again today and it will load the dolphin logo but just kicks me back to the developer kit. Any idea as to why?
I have a problem with settings. Every time I shut down the emulator and turn on again, settings just won't saves, and I need to set up everything again. What should I do?
It won't load my games from my external hard drive. I added the path in Paths & Folders, pressed L3 and Back, and I don't see the games list populated in the main menu. The files are in .RVZ format, so it should work, right?
@@ArchadesGames I figured out the problem. I simply had to format my hard drive to NTFS. It was exFAT by default. Now I'm able to load my games just fine.
Hi, Everything works great but the only thing is I can't configure my 2 players because I do not see a Dolphin folder in my Xbox external drive. All the ROMs are there. The only thing I did differently was label my Folder Dolphin Roms not Dolphin and there is no setup folder. Thanks in advance.

When I open dolphin, and select "set dolphin user folder location", my properly formatted USB drive does not appear. This may be because I did not receive the prompt to select media. Any ideas or tips?
Any idea why some games are not loading onto the dashboard? I have about 150 GameCube and Wii games but only 75 showing on the dash all games are in proper formats, is it an issue with a max limit or something

Try setting the Xbox resolution to 1080P, for some reason the most recent update doesn't appear to work at 4K, at least on Series S.
I didn’t update I just went to the link on discord again and it led me redownload dolphin and 4K worked

The isos are in the usb with all the restrictions off, yet the simplistic and I do mean SIMPLISTIC UI of this dolphin still cant find the games...
After I select my games folder everything is really slow, like 2 seconds to move to next game.

it never works for some reasion the game never pops up
no matter what i do the games list WILL NOT populate. There is no option to even add them manually. What do i do when this happens i have hit a wall.

You uninstall the old and replace with the new but then just point the user folder to your one already on USB

Dolphin just loads and stops and gives error. Never launches on Dev Mode. Running newest version.

To update for Dev mode: If you run from USB you just uninstall the old version and install the new and redirect the directories to USB.

If I were to be playing smash melee and wanted to play locally with some mates (couch pvp, not online), would connecting another controller do the trick or do I need to set something up to do that.

Help Please! When I add the Wii and Gamecube folders from the external USB, when I exit, no game appears, not one, and in the other standalone apps like as ps2, like as Aether and XBSX2, the games appear perfectly, not in this app.
I am having trouble saving game states -- it gives me an error message top left saying "Failed to open file for writing..." so when I reload games I have no progress saved. Can anybody help??
After I change all the controller settings to my preferences and I put my usb back into the Xbox my controller isn't working anymore

I'm not sure what I do wrong, but my games just doesn't show up i Dolphin.
- I do have an external harddrive attached
- It is registered as Media
- I have added the paths to both my GameCube and Wii folders, which contains the games
- Tried both having the games in the root of the respective folders, and having them in individual folders for each game - neither work
- The Wii games are WBFS format, GameCube games ISO format. and both works perfectly in Dolphin on my PC.
- The harddrive is functioning, Dreamcast GDI files works fine in FlyCast on the Xbox
I honestly got no clue what I do wrong :(

Turns out theres a bug on Series S atm. with this specific version of Dolphin. Games will only work when the console is set to 1080p unfortunately :(
so I did everything with adding file folder and finding the games, and the screen is still blue with no games, will it be like this for awhile while they get added? not sure if it should be doing something in the background I can't see
I figured it out. Had to give permissions to my sdd with the XboxMediaUSB. Works like a charm now. Thanks for your guides!

The emulator runs fine, but when I restart my Series X and go back into Dolphin it just kicks me back to Dev Mode screen every time
Super Mario Galaxy freezes and continues every 3 seconds or so... I don't know if it is my old mechanical usb drive. I'm not using texture packs or anything, just plain default configuration.
I had updated last night. I had dolphin before but had only done all the steps but my x controller registered as a standard so never played dolphin. Downloaded this one, put in folders I already had and it all worked. THANK YOU, not sure why it doesn't work for others. Maybe that dolphin set to read only file

Was I under the wrong impression that Dolphin performance was supposed to be super solid on Xbox Series S? I got everything set up and I'm noticing that every game will freeze for a split second every so often, like a super quick stutter. Other than that the frame rate seems fine. I have textures pre loading and all that, got res set to 1080p. Is this a normal limitation of the Series S? Thanks
You also have to set the series s native resolution to 1080p in the system settings not just in dolphin
Try synchronous shaders as well
i add the cheats and they work on the pc but when i turn of read only, transfer the files, then turn read only back on, the cheats are not there on the xbox
Bizarrely, this works perfectly on my Series S, but on my brother's Series S, it doesn't run. Dolphin crashes to the dashboard on start up every time.

I've heard that it's a bug with some homebrew apps if the resolution is set high. If you set the Xbox output resolution to 1920x1080 it might boot.
The same thing happened to me. On one TV it worked and on the other TV it would crash. To fix the issue, go to your Xbox settings, go to display and make sure your resolution is set to 1080p. Mine was set to 720p and once I changed it, Dolphin booted fine. Cheers.
Followed this guide and everything works and loads up. However I've noticed in some games like Super Mario Sunshine the fps drops and rises alot. Like it'll reach 60fps for a few seconds, then dip down to like 5fps and back up to 60fps for a few seconds and rinse and repeat. Has anyone come across this issue and have a solution for this? Also, I can't scan or lock on in metroid prime, just kinda focuses but no lock on or scan.
Do you have to config controller with a wired one ? I paired my Series X controller thru bluetooth configured on Dolphin PC but didnt work on console. For multiplayer

Hey so I used Dolphin on PC to enable hacks on Super Mario Sunshine (60fps and Widescreen w/ Gecko Codes), and change my controller config. Everything worked fine, but now Dolphin takes forever to open on my Series S. It went from 30 seconds, to like 3 minutes. Is this normal? Is there a way to make it faster?

Only thing I don't like is the controls lol how A and are flipped. Same thing with Y and X.. basically how the actual gamecube controller is set up .. other than that, it runs smooth and graphics are good

I'm sorry if this has already been answered, but is there a solution for wiimote sensor bars in Dolphin? I've heard that the third party Mayflash sensor bar can break if you pump too much electricity thru the USB port. I haven't found any information on its use with Xbox Series.
Since the Xbox doesn't have gyro support, we'd have to use an actual Wiimote and you can't use wiimotes without a sensor bar (or lots of candles to DIY it lol)
You can't use wiimotes like you're hoping too on Xbox at all

Everytime I install it and start the app I can see the logo and then it kicks me back to the dev screen . I downloaded the 1.12appx file on Xbox portal. Can anyone help ?

Might be obvious for someone else on here, but I got the emulator up and running yesterday and everything was fine. I went to run it again today and it will load the dolphin logo but just kicks me back to the developer kit. Any idea as to why?

I'm only having trouble with the assigning hotkeys. Even though I copied the hotkey file to the config folder, it still doesn't work.
Using any of these emulators does it affect your Xbox anyway? Can you still play regular games online?

It won't load my games from my external hard drive. I added the path in Paths & Folders, pressed L3 and Back, and I don't see the games list populated in the main menu. The files are in .RVZ format, so it should work, right?

@@ArchadesGames I figured out the problem. I simply had to format my hard drive to NTFS. It was exFAT by default. Now I'm able to load my games just fine.
@@maxpower6480 Format your USB drive to NTFS. Make sure you take out all your games before doing so, or else your ROMs will all be deleted.
Yes, as shown in the video you need to be on NTFS and set the security permissions.
Hi, Everything works great but the only thing is I can't configure my 2 players because I do not see a Dolphin folder in my Xbox external drive. All the ROMs are there. The only thing I did differently was label my Folder Dolphin Roms not Dolphin and there is no setup folder. Thanks in advance.
My friend, I couldn't see the nintendo gamecube.iso files in the ntfs formatted 32gb otg flash disk and the games from the dolphin emulator on the xbox console neither on the list nor could I run them.
30:06 I see you have a dolphin folder holding all the information, I got dolphin through the Discord/app all that to say, how does one access the GDI Memory card or any memory card for that matter? I’m trying to back up my saved data onto my series S in dolphin.

If you activate your console as a dev kit, is it now locked to only be a dev kit? Or can you switch between retail and dev instantly?
When I open dolphin, and select "set dolphin user folder location", my properly formatted USB drive does not appear. This may be because I did not receive the prompt to select media. Any ideas or tips?

Any idea why some games are not loading onto the dashboard? I have about 150 GameCube and Wii games but only 75 showing on the dash all games are in proper formats, is it an issue with a max limit or something
