    Part 13: • Craig Hodges Gave a Le...
    Part 1: • Craig Hodges, Who Won ...
    --------
    In this clip, Craig Hodges spoke about being blackballed after he handed a letter to George H.W. Bush related to the struggle of the Black person in America. He noted that he was dropped from the Bulls after the incident and did not receive any calls from any team afterward, despite winning three NBA championships. Vlad and Hodges then discussed if that was a form of retaliation for his actions. Watch above.

    It’s a shame how Hodges just disappeared from the NBA still near his prime. He was a very reliable role player that should have had a place on anyone’s team.

    • @Greego
      @Greego 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Dose LoverStar Well, being the best 3 point shooter in the league doesn’t automatically mean you are not a role player. It means you are great at 3 pointers and should have a spot on anyone’s team. I was a fan of Craig when he was in Milwaukee and in Chicago. However, I realized that he was brought off of the bench to hit 3 pointers for both teams and he did that job well.

    • @Greego
      @Greego 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dose LoverStar Hodges was a favorite of mine but I have to be realistic as a fan here... he was not a starter. Matter-of-fact, he was a late draft pick and I don’t think he ever consistently started on any NBA team. Now, if you are a starter in this league, no way would you play as many season as he had without being a starter. This is no shot at Craig. He was definitely a fan favorite but he was not on the All Star level. He was an outstanding shooter and I liked his defense as well but he couldn’t control the game or anything. He played his role and he played it well. I would say he was very key in those first two Bulls championship run but he just wasn’t a starter.

    I've been in Chicago my whole life and always liked Hodges..He's a legend in his own mind.When he arrived to the bulls he was a role player who came off the bench and hardly played.He was a defensive liability and averaged something like 3pts a game in 3yrs..nobody picked him up because he sucked.There was no conspiracy.He wasn't a superbowl quarterback making 20million a year ago who couldnt find a job when he started kneeling..I dont even think Hodges ever started in his career..His playing career lasted 3 xtra yrs because of Jordan.Just like the rest of the players on those bulls teams except for Pippen and Kerr.Dont be confused and think Hodges would of been a star on a different team that didnt have M.J.He wasnt talked about in the last dance because he didnt contribute and he wasnt the only one

    Craig Hodges was a man that was able and willing to rise to the societal situations of his people during a time in his life that required a very real and personal sacrifice. The fact that he acted and did not consider the negative consequences on his career is what should be celebrated and have him ranked among other "great activist athletes". I only wish I had payed more attention during the time this was all a current event as I became a paying fan of NBA basketball during the Bulls era.

MJ and his notorious dismissal of people and grudges of people such as Craig Hodges and Charles Barkley are not good for the growth of the game. Then he wonders why Charlotte has struggled so much. It is not the market. Charlotte had some success when they originally entered the league, maybe it is because of how he treats others.

    He must've told the wrong people about his plans for putting his earned money back into the community, which in turn got back to the NBA higher ups who didn't care about positive change in the black community. Those NBA "gives back" programs didn't start until the early to mid 2000's. In the early 90's, there was to much money to be made off of people's struggles by politicians, the media, the NBA, etc.. That still happens today, but it's more hidden behind these "pop-up" community programs. Why do you think Jordan never said much about this kind of stuff during his career? Jordan knew higher-ups and white folks didn't want to hear that. When you really think about it, nothing has really changed. Only difference is those same white people now have kids who realize how messed up their parents and grandparents thinking was.

    • @hollywoodcheremonkey

      @michael carlock Easy with your accusation there amateur night. He has 2 rings as a player, 2 as an assistant coach and is a 3 time 3 point contest winner, but seems to think he deserves more. Whenever somebody is claiming they were blackballed, you know its really due to individual shortcomings... Maybe he's just a weird guy that nobody was close to. I certainly don't remember him. Back in those days they weren't shooting that many 3s, so maybe he was a low level role player. Regardless, he sounds bent out of shape for not being a star or something.

      michael carlock In Japan they don’t really teach too much about racism other than big riots, etc. It’s a completely different foundation for looking at a black guy. If you went to Japan, you’d just be the black guy. That’s all. No sweating cops, racial stereotypes, etc. just the dark skinned guy with the Afro. Hardly somebody I’d feel sorry for.
