    Part 1: • Craig Hodges, Who Won ...
    --------
    In this clip, Craig Hodges weighed in on John Salley explaining why Michael Jordan isn't a major stakeholder in Nike. Craig Hodges discussed why it's disingenuous to tell a child they can be Michael Jordan and that 'The Last Dance' was just a way to exalt Jordan. He said according to the docuseries, Jordan won championships alone.

      Has nothing to do with the captors and Kings. It’s employees versus bosses. It’s show business talent versus actual business people selling it. Michael Jordan is great at basketball so that puts him on a level with billion dollar businessman? do actors in a movie make as much as the producers and Money Man behind Hollywood? That’s stupid. You are the show business talent. You are replaceable. The men behind the scenes making the business decisions will always make billions.

    Craig Hodges is the real deal. I'm born and raised from Chicago. Craig came and spoke to my high school, on the south side, when the Bulls were going for their second championship. Jordan never made appearances in predominantly black neighborhoods. He's one of those black entertainers that takes his black fan base for granted and goes above and beyond to please his non-black fans. Much respect, Craig.

      Honestly, I believe Clyde was always overrated. He's a guard who couldn't dribble and was a mediocre shooter. He was strong and graceful, but he shouldn't be considered top 50.

    • @Werquinn
      @Werquinn 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      @@mikedbigame3398 Pre '92 injury Clyde is probably the best open court player the league has seen. Everybody knew he'd want to run and tried to stop him and he ran at them anyway. He is also the best rebounding guard of all time (I'm not talking non-contested defensive rebounds, but offensive rebounds). He was a tough to match-up because of his post game and movement always cutting. He was the second best player in '91-'92 season and top 5 or close '87-'92. After the injury he lost his speed and hops, but was able to change his game because even in his prime he never needed the ball in his hands and because he was an excellent passer. His dribbling style was unorthodox, but if you watch his passing you quickly understand that he saw the court, usually even what was behind him (most times 9 players because he was insanely fast).

    Had he came into the league in 1980 they would have offered him 10% in the company or $100,000. (By his parents being very intelligent people they would have made him take take the 10%) By 1984 Nike started getting more serious about basketball shoes and started signing players to endorsement deals. By 1984 Nike stopped offering people shares in the company. Had (former NBA Spencer Haywood) took the 10% instead of the $100,000 his agent forced him to take his shares would be worth $6Billion-$8Billion today. But back then to Black people $100,000 was a lot of money and that $10,000 fee to an agent was a lot of money too. He got done bad by his agent but also who would have know Michael Jordan was going to become the GOAT and Nike was going to become the No.1 sports brand in the world????

      I'm trying to be polite here to Clyde who is great and underrated. But Magic and MJ's comments in The Last Dance are not new. Dating back to the Dream Team summer in '92, both Magic and MJ noted that Clyde never worked defensively or on other things like his jump shot to the degree that MJ did to become as well-rounded of a player. MJ was not a good jump shooter when he came into the league in '84. He simply worked harder than everyone else to develop into arguably the greatest mid range shooter ever. This is not solely about marketability. MJ was certainly willing to make compromises Drexler was not. But he also outworked Drexler.

      Unless you're in his shoes, you really have no idea lol. "Fell short as a black man?" That's a tall order right there. Mike came up in the South, and became the inspiration for millions of black men and women, be it indirectly, or directly, who now have stronger voices and platforms that will ultimately change the world as we know it. He's not living for other people. Just because he wasn't of service in the way some people believed he should've been, doesn't negate the fact that he has given back and continues to give back in many other ways, mostly without the need for public acknowledgment.

    • @dondajulah4168
      @dondajulah4168 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, but let's all cry a river for poor victimized Michael Jordan, LMAO. MJ made damn good blood money off Nike. If he wanted to have an ownership stake in the company that made his sneakers, he could have done like Hakeem Olajuwan did with LA Gear. As it turns out, an apparel brand isnt about just having a superstar being the face of the company. Note that Olajuwan joined with LA Gear specifically to design a lower cost basketball shoe in hopes of reducing shoe related inner city violence. Didnt work out, but it was a noble effort on his part.
      There are actual people working in various aspects of the business that determine the success of even a company like Nike that depends heavily on celebrity marketing. So sick of people talking like MJ got screwed by NIKE and hanging on his jock like he is some kind of martyr/God. Jordan got what was coming to him for being great on the basketball court. Nothing more, nothing less.

    Thats the same thing The Lakers did with Magic which was have worthy guard the best Point Guards so Magic will have enough Energy on Offense..
    Drexler never did a switch up to Win against Jordan.. the same can be said with the Knicks during the 94 Finals.. they had Oakley or Mason or Smith Guard Hakkeem instead of Ewing so Ewing can have enough energy on offense...Thats why it went to a game 7
