  • How to installed Harley Davidson intake manifold with no leak.
I explain the different installation methods I performed when replacing intake manifold gaskets and flanges. First attempt I still had a leak. Second attempt I did not have a leak.
Second attempt involved installing the intake manifold to finger tight. Then install carburetor to full specified torque. DO NOT REMOVE CARB.
Then torque bolts on intake manifold to specification. I did not have a leak with this installation method.
To anybody who has attempted this repair and still had a leak this method is worth a try! Anything is better than caving and having to take it to a mechanic... Well sometimes...
The parts I used were aftermarket from J&P cycles, if I don't go genuine I trust them as a seller to not carry utter crap. This was completed on a Harley Davidson Dyna Low Rider (FXDL) 2003.

The big 'ol rubber bands on my shovel are easy if you warm them up a little.
The compliance rubbers on my '84 Evo are kicking my ass and I can only hope the replacement rigid kit isn't so bad .

Can I ask what method you used to determine that you did not have any intake manifold leaks? Thx
