Thanks for that. I had reset my e-pl9 back to factory settings to try and fix a lens focusing issue [ that didn't work, I had to buy a new lens ] and had forgotten how to set up the super control menu. All sorted now. Love my e-pl9 great camera.

I love my Olympus PEN camera. A trusty and beautiful image maker for sure.
I purchased a Samsung digital camera a few years ago and I was so disappointed when it just stopped working. I decided this time around to purchase a camera from the one of the industry best, Olympus who only focused on cameras. Your video was really helpful. I just purchased the Pen 9 to shoot product for my Etsy shop. Thank you for helping me set up my camera. @@thatyellowbronco Hi i am still trying to find out how to use the Macro/Close up by zooming in and with the lens that came with my camera it does not zoom much. I have to walk up to the subject. If you also bought your camera from Amazon or Olympus, you can claim for the next lens up for FREE. I would do it now by going to Olympus site and check.
@@AndriaMrs Thank you for the info but I had returned my Olympus because of some issue o was having with auto focus and they just weren't able to fix it. I bought a Canon eos M50 instead and so far its working well with my youtube videos. Still want a camera for still shooting and I have my eyes on that PenF from Olympus or maybe a Fuji XT30.

HI! I have a question: when I turn on the PEN EPL10 in movie mode, it always gives me this screen that makes me choose which mode to use (FHD, 4K, clips, etc). Any idea how to get rid of this so it just turns on normally every time?

I don’t think you can turn this off but The easiest thing to do is just to press record in any of the other modes you’re in. It will switch to filming straight away and you won’t get that screen coming up first?

There are plenty of videos on TH-cam, but I can give you some quick basics to get you started. First of all, you need a steady tripod and a the darkest location available. Put your camera in manual mode and change the ISO to 1600. Keep the lens at 14mm and set the aperture to f/3.5. Set your shutter speed to 15 seconds. The goal here is to collect as much light as possible. The camera will be reluctant to autofocus under those conditions, so switch to manual focus and turn on focus peaking. Take your time to focus to get those stars pin sharp. If you don't have a remote shutter release, set the self-timer before you shoot. That way there will be no camera shake from you pushing the shutter which can blur your pictures. Start with these settings and play around with the ISO and shutter speed. The higher the ISO the more noise will be introduced. The longer the shutter speed the more you will start to see the stars moving as the planet revolves. You can do some editing afterwards to boost contrast and such. These are just the basics, but it should give you a good jumping off point. Have fun!

I have a question, is it normal that the sensor felt like shaky?
Is there any way I can set the ISO to 200 and have the camera set appropriate shutter speed?
I'm quite used to using a tripod or using a wall or lamp post to steady my older camera for dull and night shots.
It's possible the menu has some such settings but my 75 year old brain struggles with endlessly rolling through menus.

Depending upon which PEN you have you can alter the strength of the filters so you can have a play around but I think to have simple grain you would need to do this in editing x

Hi, I would like to know if you use any external mic on your EPL 9 while filming this video? If you did, how did you use it? I've been looking for a way to connect an external mic to my EPL 9 these days🙏🙏🙏
No I just use the built in mic. The EPL series doesn’t have an input for an external mic I believe.
Mines a Pen Lite E-PL7. I started trying to find the normal settings as the wife played in there and everything is Blurry to hell. Is there anywhere I can basically do a factory reset ? like it comes up in raw and everything
OOh not so sure by the PEN Lite but a factory reset should be somewhere in the main menu settings, on the PEN EPL7 its under MENU - Camera 1st menu- RESET

I have one the computer side of things was hopeless. Olympus said as much when they put out a second round of software. Allup in the top left of the screen not in plain english. I take pictures the put chip into printer and make pictures the rest of it is lost on me.

Lydia Küchler the EPL8 can’t film in 4K that was only added from the EPL9 onwards. Is that what you mean? Or are you talking about the photos it can take?

@@BangOnStyle Thanks yeah sussed it after watching a few more vids. But to be clear the camera has no in built zoom it is entorely dependent upon the lense you put with the camera. the Kit lense does have a built in zoom which is catviated by twisting the lense, which then elctrically extends or contracts after gentle pressure. Not all leses are zoom lenses. and some buys may not have the kit lense with this zoom built in.

I've been using a little compact with a zoom toggle button for too long!
I can't figure out how to change settings on the video length. Anytime I push this red button and it records for 4 secs and then it stops. Have any of you the same problem?
You’ve got it set to Clips. Which model do you have?

If you go to video mode you should see in top left corner CLIPS ON/OFF you just tap it to shuffle between. Let me know if that doesn't work
