LEGIT this is how it is!! Once you understand that though. A playthrough of this game can basically be melted through. The quest to obtain Choas and Ultima were the bitch. Zodiark was EASY, you simply have to kill him RIGHT AFTER darkja is cast before his Paling goes up.
I was struggling with zodiark a little bit, but then I looted a great trango off of him without wearing any thief cuffs. MIND BLOWN! Now I can kill him in 3 hits.

there's actually a trick to avoid the "random cards" rule, making the queen of cards quest much easier, here: -go to F.H. and play a game only with the local rules (do not mix rules, keep say no until he/she just want to play a game without mixing rules) -go to the places where you want to play, but first save game outside -reset console -go to the guy you need to play with, say no 4 TIMES to the mixing rule question, then challenge one more time, this time say yes with mixed rules BUT quit the game right after, before the game start =random cards rule removed from that area :D this trick works with every area, you just need to repeat the process....
No need to abolish random rules, just switch between dollet and balamb, if it is neither of those 2, reset. That procedure might be shorter then abolishing random rules in all regions.
I did almost everything in FFX. I did not have the patience to dodge lightning 200 times. I got to 100 or so then got struck then said fuck it! Not doing it again! lol HATED THAT!!
Actually, you don't need to do the Queen of Cards side quest to obtain all cards!! You can win the cards from the Queen herself at disc 4!! She's on the Esthar continent near that escape pod's crash site, but the exact location isn't visible!! There, you can challenge her and win the cards!! The only problem is that she uses all the rare cards each time, it is hard, but MUCH more easy than this side quest!! XD
Maybe to some people, but I rather prefere quick and hard matchs with the Queen, than that lazy-long and boring side-quest, I just hate side-quests that take so much time to complete!!!
#2 - Because FFXII was a true JRPG. Grinding, exploration, and side questing took center stage. I got the Order of Ambrosia Clan and Wyrm Hero Blade in 120 hours. FFXII has some of the best JRPG gameplay I've played in a longtime. I'm a completionist. I personally thought FFX-2 was great too. #3 Via Infinito was hell, and Trema at the bottom was hell with roller blades, and I loved it. Just got the FFX HD Platinum in 123 hours yesterday. I'm going for the FFX-2 Platinum right now.
FFXII always reminded me of the Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, because both of those games in their respective series are very side quest heavy with a lot of minigames and optional quests to complete.
The only minigame that i really pissed off was the catcher chocobo just to get the sun sigil for caladbolg, i spent 2 hours just to beat the perfect records and i gave up, it might break my vita analogs or d-pad. how can they beat the time without getting angry.
Super Genji It's all about luck, I mean, the location of the balloons, I tried for 3-4 hours one day and nothing, then, weeks later I tried it and did it perfectly in the second try, trophy earned :B

While it is true that the completion matrix of Final Fantasy 12 is extremely interconnected, I often seek out every hunt for the sake of the hunts themselves and the rest just follows. The hunt rewards and the clan rewards that come with them make them worthwhile in and of themselves. My only problem with FF12 is the blasted bazaar item recipe ingredient requirements. I can NOT tell you how long it took to get even 2 "Hell-Gate Flames", let alone 6 for Tournasol. The first time I played, I made the unholy mistake of killing the Earth Tyrant before getting the ingredients necessary for the Ultima Blade which meant that I could hunt for the Gnoma Entite, and therefore its halcyon, ONLY when the rains fell in Giza. The requirements to get every super bazaar item is a flaming, poisonous Hell on the nerves.
Darkkefka, and everyone else who, like me, hates the Queen of Cards sidequest: you can get her cards without doing her sidequest AT ALL. This can be done in two ways: Method 1: If you wait until Disc 4, you can find the Queen of Cards in the same place where the escape pod from the Lunar Base crashed. You can play cards with her there, and she will have the five rare cards you can get from her sidequest (she won't use all five at once, though, and you can only get one per game anyway). Be warned, though: she will always use the rules she wants, which means: -no Open (you can't see her hand); -Same/Plus/Same Wall (you'll get comboed all the time, and combo her every once in a blue moon); -Random (you can't choose your cards); -Sudden Death (in case of a draw, you start the game over while swapping lost cards, until someone wins); -Elemental (cards get +1 on their numbers if they match the element of the board, and -1 if they don't). Not really worth it, because we have method 2. Method 2: This requires some rules manipulation, but trust me: it's way more doable than the sidequest itself or the above method. The steps are as follows (steps 1 and 2 can be done in any order, as long as both are done before Disc 4): 1. First, we need to manipulate the rules of Trabia: get rid of Random and Plus, and make it so that Trabia only has the Open rule. This can be done as early as Galbadia Garden, where you can shuffle the rules of Galbadia and Trabia thanks to a transfer student from Trabia Garden in there. If you miss that chance, you'll get another one once you can go to Trabia Garden itself; 2. Now, we need to complete the CC Group sidequest in Balamb Garden. This can be completed once you gain control of the mobile Balamb Garden, and it's rather easy to do if you don't mix Balamb's rules with any others (Open rule only); 3. Once those two requirements are met, keep playing the game until Disc 4. Once you regain the Ragnarok, you can find all of the CC Group members inside the airship. You can get every rare card in the game from them, and they play with different region rules. The one we're looking for is Left Diamond: she uses Trabia's rules (which is why we made sure Trabia only had Open) and has every rare card you DON'T have, including cards you lost or spent with Card Mod and the Queen of Cards sidequest's cards (the only rare card you can't farm from her is PuPu). There you go. Now the Queen of Cards can rot in Balamb or Esthar for all we care. ;)
Shoutout to you for dedication. But I like the side quest, as much as I like ff8:). Disk 3 in ff8 is like the "point before no return" of the game so if you dont wannna just go complete the game you dont go to the end of it. Yes I AM a diehard fan of 8...
I love VIII too, but that sidequest is just not worth it... I already hated Caraway's condition to get Rinoa's card (you have to lose Ifrit to him on purpose, then duel him for Rinoa's card, and then go get Ifrit back somewhere else), and the game wants me to do that on steroids? No thanks. I would've never completed my card collection if I hadn't found out about Left Diamond. Besides, I like to leave the Quenn stationed at Balamb, so I can easily apply the All rule to Balamb Garden whenever I need to get lots of cards.
Yes mate. Your methods are by all means more reasonable. It's just that I'd like to do everything possible by the end of disk 3 then stay there for a perfect save. A typical diehard ff fan u could say.... Also bout ifrit, the general is gonna be found in Fisherman horizon later on, you could win it back there. Glad to see an FF8 player doe... kinda rare, idk why.
Yeah Tetra Master was just for fun (except for the forced tourney in the beginning of disc 3). Triple Triad had very good rewards attached to it and side character plot. And the rules...At least you could just use all your best cards in Tetra Master. Triple Triad had all these rules you had to take into account. And unless you took the time to not spread or get rid of bad rules, you were at the mercy of the game with Random, Win all, etc (think the Space Station).
ff8 is the only one in the main series that i havent played yet (give me a couple of days) but just by watching the few scenes of triad game in this video i can tell you than that is not true, tetra master is even easier than the submarine minigame in ff7
I love triple triad. Once you drop random from Dollet's rules you pretty much own the queen of cards. I just make sure she never goes anywhere but Ballamb and Dollet.
Hunts are the bane of my existence. Square seem to be in love with them, putting them into nearly every Final Fantasy game from X onward in some form. If they are in FF7R, and if there are more than ten or so, I will scream.
Hey hey.. How about Excalibur II of Final Fantasy IX? In case you don't know about it, the Excalibur II is the most powerful weapon available in Final Fantasy IX, and can only be equipped by Steiner. It has an amazing attack power of 108, its element is Holy, it has no status and teaches the abilities Minus Strike, Climhazzard, and Stock Break. The only way the player can obtain the Excalibur II is to make it to the game's final dungeon, Memoria, into the room Gate to Space (where the party fights Lich) WITHOUT EXCEEDING 12 hours of playtime.

Sphere Break was an interesting concept, but it's horribly designed considering it's completely based on luck. Skill is completely pointless when random luck is going render all your efforts useless. Got 5 combos in a row? Need to keep it going to have any chance of winning? Here's a 1.
I remember the golden chocobo quest in FF7. I looked it up and saw that it looked incredibly tedious and boring, but I really wanted the knights of the round summon. So I saw that you could just get an item from Ruby Weapon to get a gold chocobo. So I went and beat Ruby Weapon and got the chocobo. At the time, I recall thinking the fight seemed to be going on quite a while. I had no idea I'd just beaten one of the gamess optional superbosses with zero preparation. I have no idea how I pulled that off. I sure havent been able to do it that easily since then.
Chocobos in IX = for me one of the best sidequests Chocobos in X = well, you did preety good job describing this. Just it needs higher place on this list.
ThePhantomSephiroth I once got 0:0:3 all because I got it by a bird that appeared right on finish line. My friend got a time of 0:0:0 and STILL didn't get the sun sigil.
DarkChaoto Can confirm. I actually did this sidequest for 4-5 hours because I kept having crap luck with the birds appearing at the finish line, and I also several times hit 0:0:0 and didn't get the prize. I started getting so mad. I also got mad at the chocobo race at Remiem, but that only took about two hours. Two hours of frustration, but two hours none-the-less. I was happy to finish them because I officially knew I could 100% the game with all the trophies at that point.

That Chocobo racing game in ffx made me want to rip my hair out! It took me an hour and a half to finally get the best score, and made me flip the bird at the screen!
I feel like the Butterfly should have been an honorable mention instead of in the top 10 itself. While it IS pretty hard, the butterflies are in fixed locations. I don't know which side quest I'd replace... I mean, yeah, dodging 200 Lightning bolts is difficult, but as you said, you CAN manipulate it!
are you f'ing kidding me?!?! Blitzball was without a doubt the best Mini game in the Final Fantasy Series. I was soooooo disappointed when they didn't have the game in FFX-2. I honestly wished that they made a stand alone game of Blitzball that had a more in dept season / career mode. Kinda like the FiFa series, but underwater.
I've been on a DK binge this weekend, and while I've read a lot of comments where people hate or disagree with your videos, I've just thought you did a great job with a series you really seem to enjoy. After getting to #8 though, I really wish I knew you so we could have talked about this game years ago. I found the missions slightly annoying, but they were my favorite part of a game that I only own because my kid was with me when I rented it, saw me watch the "My Hands" trailer at least once a week until the game came out (Seriously, that trailer might be my second favorite part of the game), and knew that's what I should get for Christmas.
Finished the FFX Chocobo Race about a week ago... after 3 straight hours of trying. A nightmare... that whole experience was a nightmare! It's like if Legend of Zelda made an obstacle course where you had to wade through an attacking army of Cuccos while riding Epona... in less than a second!
Oh my god, breading a gold chocobo in FFVII was a nightmare. Also if you were doing it without a guide (no internet for me back then) you had to periodically visit the chocobo sage who would painstakingly feed you teeny-tiny bits of information on how to actually do it, before saying "oh, I forget" and you had to let something like 5 game hours pass before he gave you the next hint.
Just transform all your garbage cards and keep only your rare card, random is not that bad however Direct can go fuck itself in a chocobo's ass this rule is simply unfair you can loose a Rare Card EVEN if you win the game how fair is that ??
Trust me, Plus is worse. WAY WORSE. At least you can get rid of all your lower level cards to make sure Random only gives you good (or at least decent) hands. There's almost nothing you can do, however, to stop the CPU from activating Plus out of nowhere and turning the tables against you in a flash, even if you see its hand with Open.
Dude are you kidding me? I personally thought that the best thing about Final Fantasy 12 was the design of those stories. It was beautiful! You know how hard it is to kill the Hell Wyrm? And how hard it is to do everything you need to do just to have a chance to fight it? That's the whole point! You know how hard it must have been for them to design all those...problems? You have to do this first and then that so that you can do that other thing.....it was beautiful!
It is time most time consuming game ever, though...But that's actually good! I mean, what did you want? Finish it in 12 hours like Final Fantasy 9? (If you finish Final Fantasy 9 in 12 hours you get Excalibur II, I've never done it and I've played the game one million times but the only reason I haven't done it is because I like doing every little sidequest on that game.)
MindBrakerable I have to disagree with all of that. It was just way too time consuming. Even for Final Fantasy! Hunts should not have have been intertwined with the sidequests. I loved doing Hunts. That was my favorite thing about 12. But doing a bunch of bullshit that didn't involve the hunts was extremely annoying .-____-

Angel Alaniz well yeah, that's true. But I still think that's the best thing. It made you spend a lot of time in the game if you wanted to master it; it wasn't simple. I think that's the best thing, that it wasn't easy.
I actually managed to get Kimahri's sigil with the butterfly mini-game while hitting 1 red butterfly...just the one though, and I only had like 0.2 seconds left. Man, I thought I'd have to start over. It can be done though, just know which direction you need to be going as soon as the end battle screen is over so you don't lose any more time.

FF9's Chocobo Hot and Cold was awesome, what you smokin' fool? "Unfortunately, without this side quest, you can't fight Ozma." Are you kidding? Overly powerful bosses are the worst thing *about* the series. Far worse than the mini-games. Same for you complaining about having to do a *few* (not near as many as you're implying) things to fight Omega or Yiazmat in FF12. Yiazmat is a flaw, why are you pissed that you can't fight him? And especially why are you mad about not getting the Wyrmhero Blade, that thing isn't worth 2 gil! Aside from that, FF12 is awesome. Not gonna defend 13. 13 sucks.

+Vic 2.0 13 is actually pretty good if you give it a ghost of a chance; the only thing I hated about it was the "Game Over If Leader Dies" mechanic, which forces you to organize your team like you're playing chess instead of a Final Fantasy game.
cameraREDeye I gave it *two* chances. Beat it twice and never learned to enjoy it. It just takes too much freedom away, for my tastes. Not only is the (lack of) exploration linear, but the character skill development is as well. And the rating system after every battle was just obnoxious.
+Vic 2.0 agree 13 sucks you would have to pay me to play that game lol! i didnt like the paradigm shifts and mechanics and the fact that you cant build your characters on that skill tree until you completed a chapter which i thought was dumb if i wanna grind and am in the mood i wanna grind and its just too linear got to like the 2nd disc on my 360 when i had one and just lost the motivation to play because of those reasons, the only good thing i can say about ff13 is it had good graphics and badass cutscenes but the gameplay jusy ruined it for me.

The first time I did the catcher chocobo, I was a kid and it took me a week. But it's actually really easy if you know the trick. It doesn't work all the time but it certainly will within 30 mins of playing this minigame. I got this minigame done in 15 mins. The trick is to avoid birds all the time, you get less balloons, but you finish with an earlier run and 0 birds to add time to your score. (birds actually add an extra 1.5/2 seconds because of the hit animation) To avoid birds: on the first path try to get as many balloons as you can, then when you enter the second path get the first few couple of loons in the center and the moment you see a bird appear on the screen, keep right until the end of this path. Don't bother getting loon unless they're really close, then on the third path keep left at all times. Avoiding birds on this path is hard, but with a little bit of skills you can get through easy (you can try to zig zag on the left side or you can use the invisible wall to push you back on the field when a bird is on the left). This minigame is rage inducing solely because of the birds hitting you... not because you didn't get enough loons, and you can only win this by staying calm and making steady progress. so don't focus on getting the loons, just avoid birds at all cost and eventually you'll end up with a run that has enough loons to get you under 0 seconds. What I'm saying seems obvious, but many players put their priority on getting the loons when they really should be avoiding the birds as a priority.
Hey Darkkefka, What's up? Love your videos, and I thought, that after years I should say something. Great video's, bro. Keep it up! I loved Triple Triad, btw, and I personally never had any problems with the Queen of Cards. I believe her father explains which cards you have to lose, and there are very quick and easy methods to manipulate the rules in each region. So once I found out that the father provides hints or whatever, the sidequest was pretty much over. And yeah the whole manipulating rules and waiting for the right dialogue option is kind of tedious, I guess, but DEAR LORD, look at FFXII. That sidequest System should've been number one, if you ask me.
I found the sidequests in FFXII to be alot of fun and intentionally do them whenever playing through the game as they are far more challenging then the actual plot.
Queen of cards side quest are one of my favorite in final fantasy games... And it's very addictive game.. If you complete all the cards you will see a yellow star above the name of the card menu... And btw rangerxy is right..
How can you hate the card side quest? Just make sure you have the rules you want and loose your cards (and you can loose all of them. before going back to her son)_ and if you look up how to get rid of rules it takes a lot of reloading but isnt that bad....
You can get all the Triple Triad cards once you get the Ragarok. The twin on the left will give you every card in order, and one at a time until you have them all.
If you did the CC Group sidequest earlier, on the final disk you can actually get the cards from the Queen of Cards side quest by challenging the CC members on the Ragnarok.
I know this video is old but I've wondered... did you not know you can skip the Queen of Cards quest entirely by just waiting until disc 4? Just go to the lunar escape pod crash site. In fact, you can get ANY unique card in the game that you may have missed from her at this site. she'll never move from there and you can simply save right outside the site
I think doom train, phoenix, and chubby chocobo, are the only 3 that can be gotten from the queen of cards, the rest are from the card club. Yeah! It's pretty brutal.
Yes, I know, it's been a month... But I felt the need to point out that the other two cards that are unique _[well, almost, but I'll get to that...]_ to the Queen of Cards sidequest are Irvine and Kiros. The 'almost' part is that if you complete the Card Club sidequest, the left Diamond girl on the Ragnarok can play *ALL* the Rare Cards you don't currently own, including ones you never got and also ones you Card Modded.
I loved every aspect of Triple Triad. It doesn't take that long to hunt the queen down as long as you know which cards to lose to make her move and get the new cards. I also loved Blitzball and hot'n'cold. Lithning, butterflies and chocobo racing kept me from getting those character's ultimate weapons and as such, I am yet to fight the Dark Aeons. I'm now replaying 12 and cannot wait to mobile so I can do all the sidequests, that's one of my favourite features in rpgs. I would only rank it as high if the rewards weren't good, but in this case they are and I cannot wait to go grinding so I can get the Tournesol :D
Only annoying thing about the Card Queen quest is the amount of resets you have to do. To shuttle her between Dollet and Balamb. As long as you never let her get to Galbadia, you'll be fine.
That Catcher Chocobo sidequest made me go grey, for me, that was the hardest. I'm glad I'm not the only person who finds Triple Triad annoying as well. I haven't played 12 much so don't know about your #2 but I loved the Hot & Cold sidequest in 9 but to each their own I guess.
I just completed Queen of cards. It's a pain, but fun. the trick is to get the random rule abolished, and then it's not so bad. It also helps to stack up on mid-level cards beforehand. It's not random where she shows up, she tells you where she's going, and she appears in the same spot every time, usually conveniently beside a save point for easy reloads. The worst part about it for me was getting the Doomtrain card in Timber...it's has A A values on adjacent sides, and I just couldn't abolish the direct trading rule (you win the cards you control/lose what you don't) meaning that nothing could beat it, even with plus or same it was infuriating. Other than that, so long as you're not shit at Triple Triad, it's not that bad. Just time consuming. Great time to listen to podcasts or binge watch a show.
My problem with the Queen of Cards quest is that it's entirely pointless; you can win all those cards on Disc 4 from the CC Club and only have to do a fraction of the effort.
Yeah but getting the Ultimate Weapons for the various characters in X unlocks Break Damage Limit for the matching Aeons. (Yuna's is linked to Valefor which makes his second, hidden limit break even more insane; he's actually more powerful than Bahamut if you set him up right.)

The catcher chocobo is haunting. You have no idea how sick I am of the damn soundtrack in the background as you try to get the 0 seconds. It's as if the music is taunting you as you fail for the 90th time.
8:49. There is an easy way to get around that. Just breed another Chocobo (it don´t need to be a good one) and now your Special Chocobo is ready to bang again.
Love the commentary for the chocobo race in FFX. Ill admit, I havent played all of those final fantasy games. And the ones I have played I havent bothered too much with the hard side quests. FFX is different. I LOATHE the lightning dodge game! It may just be an honorable mention on this video, but it is number 1 in my book.

LEGIT this is how it is!! Once you understand that though. A playthrough of this game can basically be melted through. The quest to obtain Choas and Ultima were the bitch. Zodiark was EASY, you simply have to kill him RIGHT AFTER darkja is cast before his Paling goes up.
you can beat Final Fantasy XII for 12 hours, but you need 50 hours of gameplay for Zodiac Spear.

there's actually a trick to avoid the "random cards" rule, making the queen of cards quest much easier, here:
-go to F.H. and play a game only with the local rules (do not mix rules, keep say no until he/she just want to play a game without mixing rules)
-go to the places where you want to play, but first save game outside
-reset console
-go to the guy you need to play with, say no 4 TIMES to the mixing rule question, then challenge one more time, this time say yes with mixed rules BUT quit the game right after, before the game start
=random cards rule removed from that area :D
this trick works with every area, you just need to repeat the process....
No need to abolish random rules, just switch between dollet and balamb, if it is neither of those 2, reset. That procedure might be shorter then abolishing random rules in all regions.
I keep seeing things about manipulate Triple Triad's rules on internet I have many "ways" no matter which one I do it's just never work for me.
I did almost everything in FFX. I did not have the patience to dodge lightning 200 times. I got to 100 or so then got struck then said fuck it! Not doing it again! lol HATED THAT!!

Actually, you don't need to do the Queen of Cards side quest to obtain all cards!!
You can win the cards from the Queen herself at disc 4!! She's on the Esthar continent near that escape pod's crash site, but the exact location isn't visible!! There, you can challenge her and win the cards!! The only problem is that she uses all the rare cards each time, it is hard, but MUCH more easy than this side quest!! XD
Maybe to some people, but I rather prefere quick and hard matchs with the Queen, than that lazy-long and boring side-quest, I just hate side-quests that take so much time to complete!!!

#2 - Because FFXII was a true JRPG. Grinding, exploration, and side questing took center stage. I got the Order of Ambrosia Clan and Wyrm Hero Blade in 120 hours. FFXII has some of the best JRPG gameplay I've played in a longtime. I'm a completionist.
I personally thought FFX-2 was great too. #3 Via Infinito was hell, and Trema at the bottom was hell with roller blades, and I loved it. Just got the FFX HD Platinum in 123 hours yesterday. I'm going for the FFX-2 Platinum right now.

FFXII always reminded me of the Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, because both of those games in their respective series are very side quest heavy with a lot of minigames and optional quests to complete.
The only minigame that i really pissed off was the catcher chocobo just to get the sun sigil for caladbolg, i spent 2 hours just to beat the perfect records and i gave up, it might break my vita analogs or d-pad. how can they beat the time without getting angry.
So pissed by this side quest that i made my friend, who is also a gamer, get it done for me =p

While it is true that the completion matrix of Final Fantasy 12 is extremely interconnected, I often seek out every hunt for the sake of the hunts themselves and the rest just follows. The hunt rewards and the clan rewards that come with them make them worthwhile in and of themselves. My only problem with FF12 is the blasted bazaar item recipe ingredient requirements. I can NOT tell you how long it took to get even 2 "Hell-Gate Flames", let alone 6 for Tournasol. The first time I played, I made the unholy mistake of killing the Earth Tyrant before getting the ingredients necessary for the Ultima Blade which meant that I could hunt for the Gnoma Entite, and therefore its halcyon, ONLY when the rains fell in Giza. The requirements to get every super bazaar item is a flaming, poisonous Hell on the nerves.
Darkkefka, and everyone else who, like me, hates the Queen of Cards sidequest: you can get her cards without doing her sidequest AT ALL. This can be done in two ways:
Method 1:
If you wait until Disc 4, you can find the Queen of Cards in the same place where the escape pod from the Lunar Base crashed. You can play cards with her there, and she will have the five rare cards you can get from her sidequest (she won't use all five at once, though, and you can only get one per game anyway).
Be warned, though: she will always use the rules she wants, which means:
-no Open (you can't see her hand);
-Same/Plus/Same Wall (you'll get comboed all the time, and combo her every once in a blue moon);
-Random (you can't choose your cards);
-Sudden Death (in case of a draw, you start the game over while swapping lost cards, until someone wins);
-Elemental (cards get +1 on their numbers if they match the element of the board, and -1 if they don't).
Not really worth it, because we have method 2.
Method 2:
This requires some rules manipulation, but trust me: it's way more doable than the sidequest itself or the above method. The steps are as follows (steps 1 and 2 can be done in any order, as long as both are done before Disc 4):
1. First, we need to manipulate the rules of Trabia: get rid of Random and Plus, and make it so that Trabia only has the Open rule. This can be done as early as Galbadia Garden, where you can shuffle the rules of Galbadia and Trabia thanks to a transfer student from Trabia Garden in there. If you miss that chance, you'll get another one once you can go to Trabia Garden itself;
2. Now, we need to complete the CC Group sidequest in Balamb Garden. This can be completed once you gain control of the mobile Balamb Garden, and it's rather easy to do if you don't mix Balamb's rules with any others (Open rule only);
3. Once those two requirements are met, keep playing the game until Disc 4. Once you regain the Ragnarok, you can find all of the CC Group members inside the airship. You can get every rare card in the game from them, and they play with different region rules. The one we're looking for is Left Diamond: she uses Trabia's rules (which is why we made sure Trabia only had Open) and has every rare card you DON'T have, including cards you lost or spent with Card Mod and the Queen of Cards sidequest's cards (the only rare card you can't farm from her is PuPu).
There you go. Now the Queen of Cards can rot in Balamb or Esthar for all we care. ;)
Shoutout to you for dedication. But I like the side quest, as much as I like ff8:). Disk 3 in ff8 is like the "point before no return" of the game so if you dont wannna just go complete the game you dont go to the end of it. Yes I AM a diehard fan of 8...
I love VIII too, but that sidequest is just not worth it... I already hated Caraway's condition to get Rinoa's card (you have to lose Ifrit to him on purpose, then duel him for Rinoa's card, and then go get Ifrit back somewhere else), and the game wants me to do that on steroids? No thanks.
I would've never completed my card collection if I hadn't found out about Left Diamond. Besides, I like to leave the Quenn stationed at Balamb, so I can easily apply the All rule to Balamb Garden whenever I need to get lots of cards.
Yes mate. Your methods are by all means more reasonable. It's just that I'd like to do everything possible by the end of disk 3 then stay there for a perfect save. A typical diehard ff fan u could say.... Also bout ifrit, the general is gonna be found in Fisherman horizon later on, you could win it back there. Glad to see an FF8 player doe... kinda rare, idk why.

Yeah Tetra Master was just for fun (except for the forced tourney in the beginning of disc 3). Triple Triad had very good rewards attached to it and side character plot. And the rules...At least you could just use all your best cards in Tetra Master. Triple Triad had all these rules you had to take into account. And unless you took the time to not spread or get rid of bad rules, you were at the mercy of the game with Random, Win all, etc (think the Space Station).
ff8 is the only one in the main series that i havent played yet (give me a couple of days) but just by watching the few scenes of triad game in this video i can tell you than that is not true, tetra master is even easier than the submarine minigame in ff7
Triple Triad isn't bad in itself the Queen of Cards sidequest can go to hell fuck this sidequest.
I love triple triad. Once you drop random from Dollet's rules you pretty much own the queen of cards. I just make sure she never goes anywhere but Ballamb and Dollet.
Hunts are the bane of my existence. Square seem to be in love with them, putting them into nearly every Final Fantasy game from X onward in some form. If they are in FF7R, and if there are more than ten or so, I will scream.
You don't have to race chocobos to get a g9ld if you do it right there's a few guides to how to do it easily and get a "perfect gold"
Hey hey.. How about Excalibur II of Final Fantasy IX? In case you don't know about it, the Excalibur II is the most powerful weapon available in Final Fantasy IX, and can only be equipped by Steiner. It has an amazing attack power of 108, its element is Holy, it has no status and teaches the abilities Minus Strike, Climhazzard, and Stock Break. The only way the player can obtain the Excalibur II is to make it to the game's final dungeon, Memoria, into the room Gate to Space (where the party fights Lich) WITHOUT EXCEEDING 12 hours of playtime.

Sphere Break was an interesting concept, but it's horribly designed considering it's completely based on luck. Skill is completely pointless when random luck is going render all your efforts useless. Got 5 combos in a row? Need to keep it going to have any chance of winning? Here's a 1.
I remember the golden chocobo quest in FF7. I looked it up and saw that it looked incredibly tedious and boring, but I really wanted the knights of the round summon. So I saw that you could just get an item from Ruby Weapon to get a gold chocobo. So I went and beat Ruby Weapon and got the chocobo.
At the time, I recall thinking the fight seemed to be going on quite a while. I had no idea I'd just beaten one of the gamess optional superbosses with zero preparation.
I have no idea how I pulled that off. I sure havent been able to do it that easily since then.

I actually did this sidequest for 4-5 hours because I kept having crap luck with the birds appearing at the finish line, and I also several times hit 0:0:0 and didn't get the prize. I started getting so mad. I also got mad at the chocobo race at Remiem, but that only took about two hours. Two hours of frustration, but two hours none-the-less. I was happy to finish them because I officially knew I could 100% the game with all the trophies at that point.

I honestly wished that they made a stand alone game of Blitzball that had a more in dept season / career mode. Kinda like the FiFa series, but underwater.

I've been on a DK binge this weekend, and while I've read a lot of comments where people hate or disagree with your videos, I've just thought you did a great job with a series you really seem to enjoy.
After getting to #8 though, I really wish I knew you so we could have talked about this game years ago. I found the missions slightly annoying, but they were my favorite part of a game that I only own because my kid was with me when I rented it, saw me watch the "My Hands" trailer at least once a week until the game came out (Seriously, that trailer might be my second favorite part of the game), and knew that's what I should get for Christmas.
I think the riddles in FFXIII-2 were lots of fun :'D
Finished the FFX Chocobo Race about a week ago... after 3 straight hours of trying. A nightmare... that whole experience was a nightmare! It's like if Legend of Zelda made an obstacle course where you had to wade through an attacking army of Cuccos while riding Epona... in less than a second!

Oh my god, breading a gold chocobo in FFVII was a nightmare. Also if you were doing it without a guide (no internet for me back then) you had to periodically visit the chocobo sage who would painstakingly feed you teeny-tiny bits of information on how to actually do it, before saying "oh, I forget" and you had to let something like 5 game hours pass before he gave you the next hint.

There are ways to get rid of rules you hate and have rules you want. It takes a while though but it works.
It never works for me I try for 2 entire days and say fuck it.
Trust me, Plus is worse. WAY WORSE.
At least you can get rid of all your lower level cards to make sure Random only gives you good (or at least decent) hands. There's almost nothing you can do, however, to stop the CPU from activating Plus out of nowhere and turning the tables against you in a flash, even if you see its hand with Open.

Dude are you kidding me? I personally thought that the best thing about Final Fantasy 12 was the design of those stories. It was beautiful! You know how hard it is to kill the Hell Wyrm? And how hard it is to do everything you need to do just to have a chance to fight it? That's the whole point! You know how hard it must have been for them to design all those...problems? You have to do this first and then that so that you can do that other thing.....it was beautiful!
It is time most time consuming game ever, though...But that's actually good! I mean, what did you want? Finish it in 12 hours like Final Fantasy 9? (If you finish Final Fantasy 9 in 12 hours you get Excalibur II, I've never done it and I've played the game one million times but the only reason I haven't done it is because I like doing every little sidequest on that game.)

Angel Alaniz well yeah, that's true. But I still think that's the best thing. It made you spend a lot of time in the game if you wanted to master it; it wasn't simple. I think that's the best thing, that it wasn't easy.
I actually managed to get Kimahri's sigil with the butterfly mini-game while hitting 1 red butterfly...just the one though, and I only had like 0.2 seconds left. Man, I thought I'd have to start over. It can be done though, just know which direction you need to be going as soon as the end battle screen is over so you don't lose any more time.

Are you kidding? Overly powerful bosses are the worst thing *about* the series. Far worse than the mini-games. Same for you complaining about having to do a *few* (not near as many as you're implying) things to fight Omega or Yiazmat in FF12. Yiazmat is a flaw, why are you pissed that you can't fight him? And especially why are you mad about not getting the Wyrmhero Blade, that thing isn't worth 2 gil! Aside from that, FF12 is awesome.

The only problem I have with Hot and cold is the time limit and the random Chocograph location. Once My chocobo got faster at digging, wasn't too bad
+Darkkefka Then what about Chocobo breeding in FF7? I like Hot and Cold a lot more than the one in FF7. Almost constantly resetting the game until you get the right colour/gender is too tedious and time-consuming. Wyrmhero blade, i agree on that. Me: "Oh yes finally! The mighty Wyrmhero blade!! Ok so now i'm going to kick.....wait.....where are all the Marks/Bosses????" LOL
+Vic 2.0 13 is actually pretty good if you give it a ghost of a chance; the only thing I hated about it was the "Game Over If Leader Dies" mechanic, which forces you to organize your team like you're playing chess instead of a Final Fantasy game.
cameraREDeye I gave it *two* chances. Beat it twice and never learned to enjoy it. It just takes too much freedom away, for my tastes. Not only is the (lack of) exploration linear, but the character skill development is as well. And the rating system after every battle was just obnoxious.
+Vic 2.0 agree 13 sucks you would have to pay me to play that game lol! i didnt like the paradigm shifts and mechanics and the fact that you cant build your characters on that skill tree until you completed a chapter which i thought was dumb if i wanna grind and am in the mood i wanna grind and its just too linear got to like the 2nd disc on my 360 when i had one and just lost the motivation to play because of those reasons, the only good thing i can say about ff13 is it had good graphics and badass cutscenes but the gameplay jusy ruined it for me.

Don't know the actual name of the theme, but just search the FFX OSTs and you'll find it. It plays a few times in the game.

Ok, I liked final fantasy 7 chocobo mission. When I actually felt like I had TIME it was quite enjoyable and fun to raise chocobos.

The first time I did the catcher chocobo, I was a kid and it took me a week. But it's actually really easy if you know the trick. It doesn't work all the time but it certainly will within 30 mins of playing this minigame. I got this minigame done in 15 mins. The trick is to avoid birds all the time, you get less balloons, but you finish with an earlier run and 0 birds to add time to your score. (birds actually add an extra 1.5/2 seconds because of the hit animation)
To avoid birds:
on the first path try to get as many balloons as you can, then when you enter the second path get the first few couple of loons in the center and the moment you see a bird appear on the screen, keep right until the end of this path. Don't bother getting loon unless they're really close, then on the third path keep left at all times. Avoiding birds on this path is hard, but with a little bit of skills you can get through easy (you can try to zig zag on the left side or you can use the invisible wall to push you back on the field when a bird is on the left).
This minigame is rage inducing solely because of the birds hitting you... not because you didn't get enough loons, and you can only win this by staying calm and making steady progress. so don't focus on getting the loons, just avoid birds at all cost and eventually you'll end up with a run that has enough loons to get you under 0 seconds. What I'm saying seems obvious, but many players put their priority on getting the loons when they really should be avoiding the birds as a priority.

I loved Triple Triad, btw, and I personally never had any problems with the Queen of Cards. I believe her father explains which cards you have to lose, and there are very quick and easy methods to manipulate the rules in each region. So once I found out that the father provides hints or whatever, the sidequest was pretty much over.
And yeah the whole manipulating rules and waiting for the right dialogue option is kind of tedious, I guess, but DEAR LORD, look at FFXII. That sidequest System should've been number one, if you ask me.
I found the sidequests in FFXII to be alot of fun and intentionally do them whenever playing through the game as they are far more challenging then the actual plot.

Queen of cards side quest are one of my favorite in final fantasy games... And it's very addictive game.. If you complete all the cards you will see a yellow star above the name of the card menu... And btw rangerxy is right..
How can you hate the card side quest? Just make sure you have the rules you want and loose your cards (and you can loose all of them. before going back to her son)_ and if you look up how to get rid of rules it takes a lot of reloading but isnt that bad....
You can get all the Triple Triad cards once you get the Ragarok. The twin on the left will give you every card in order, and one at a time until you have them all.
The number minigame in 13-2 was actually really fun for me. I found it clever when you know how the clock works
If you did the CC Group sidequest earlier, on the final disk you can actually get the cards from the Queen of Cards side quest by challenging the CC members on the Ragnarok.
I know this video is old but I've wondered... did you not know you can skip the Queen of Cards quest entirely by just waiting until disc 4? Just go to the lunar escape pod crash site. In fact, you can get ANY unique card in the game that you may have missed from her at this site. she'll never move from there and you can simply save right outside the site
I think doom train, phoenix, and chubby chocobo, are the only 3 that can be gotten from the queen of cards, the rest are from the card club. Yeah! It's pretty brutal.

But I felt the need to point out that the other two cards that are unique _[well, almost, but I'll get to that...]_ to the Queen of Cards sidequest are Irvine and Kiros. The 'almost' part is that if you complete the Card Club sidequest, the left Diamond girl on the Ragnarok can play *ALL* the Rare Cards you don't currently own, including ones you never got and also ones you Card Modded.

I loved every aspect of Triple Triad. It doesn't take that long to hunt the queen down as long as you know which cards to lose to make her move and get the new cards. I also loved Blitzball and hot'n'cold. Lithning, butterflies and chocobo racing kept me from getting those character's ultimate weapons and as such, I am yet to fight the Dark Aeons. I'm now replaying 12 and cannot wait to mobile so I can do all the sidequests, that's one of my favourite features in rpgs. I would only rank it as high if the rewards weren't good, but in this case they are and I cannot wait to go grinding so I can get the Tournesol :D
Only annoying thing about the Card Queen quest is the amount of resets you have to do. To shuttle her between Dollet and Balamb. As long as you never let her get to Galbadia, you'll be fine.
That Catcher Chocobo sidequest made me go grey, for me, that was the hardest. I'm glad I'm not the only person who finds Triple Triad annoying as well. I haven't played 12 much so don't know about your #2 but I loved the Hot & Cold sidequest in 9 but to each their own I guess.
I just completed Queen of cards. It's a pain, but fun. the trick is to get the random rule abolished, and then it's not so bad. It also helps to stack up on mid-level cards beforehand. It's not random where she shows up, she tells you where she's going, and she appears in the same spot every time, usually conveniently beside a save point for easy reloads.
The worst part about it for me was getting the Doomtrain card in Timber...it's has A A values on adjacent sides, and I just couldn't abolish the direct trading rule (you win the cards you control/lose what you don't) meaning that nothing could beat it, even with plus or same it was infuriating. Other than that, so long as you're not shit at Triple Triad, it's not that bad. Just time consuming. Great time to listen to podcasts or binge watch a show.
My problem with the Queen of Cards quest is that it's entirely pointless; you can win all those cards on Disc 4 from the CC Club and only have to do a fraction of the effort.
Yeah but getting the Ultimate Weapons for the various characters in X unlocks Break Damage Limit for the matching Aeons. (Yuna's is linked to Valefor which makes his second, hidden limit break even more insane; he's actually more powerful than Bahamut if you set him up right.)

The catcher chocobo is haunting. You have no idea how sick I am of the damn soundtrack in the background as you try to get the 0 seconds. It's as if the music is taunting you as you fail for the 90th time.
8:49. There is an easy way to get around that. Just breed another Chocobo (it don´t need to be a good one) and now your Special Chocobo is ready to bang again.
Watching this after the HD remake of 9 really reminded me how much 2x speed really broke Hot and Cold.
Love the commentary for the chocobo race in FFX. Ill admit, I havent played all of those final fantasy games. And the ones I have played I havent bothered too much with the hard side quests. FFX is different. I LOATHE the lightning dodge game! It may just be an honorable mention on this video, but it is number 1 in my book.
Bolt dodging honorable mention? That is a top 5 in every list. I loved the Chocobo Hot and cold game, the butterfly quest in FFX is not that hard if you have the guide which tells you where every butterfly is...
