    In FFVIII, there were numerous ways to spam enemies: Having 99 Death spells linked to your weapon attack on all 3 party members and you're one-shotting most things, except bosses. For bosses you could just cast Haste, then Aura and spam them with Limit breaks. If you've got Quistis & Zell in ur party, you're not losing a fight EVER.

      FFX, Have either Yuna or Lulu Doublecast Ultima (preferably at Half or One MP), Rikku Copycats. Rinse and repeat. Best if Rikku has followed Lulu's path ASAP, she gets at least 2/3rds Lulu's damage yield.

      Darkkefka
      I thought Vanille character fit her perfectly. It's like how people hate Hope cuz he's whiny. He's a 14 year old boy with no experience, no shit lol. Vanille wants to act like a dumbass to coverup for the "dark resolve" that lies within.
      Also, her saboteur role is so versatile. Best early sab cuz of deprotect/deshell/imperil.
      Good mid/late because fang doesnt learn it till late and death can be abused vs neochu and adamantoise.
      Great late because death can do 999,999 on long gui repeatedly LOL.

  • @ThorsShadow

    TL;DR: There is no need to raise your HP over 9999, because with maxed-out characters almost everything deals less than 9999 against you. The few attacks dealing more than 9999 automatically deal the absolute maximum damage of 99999, meaning you die either way, with our without Break HP Limit. Healing characters to full HP is also easier and faster with 9999 max HP.
    About Break HP Limit in FFX: That thing is one of the most useless abilities you can go for on a piece of equipment. Why do I say that?
    When you max out your characters almost no attack in this game deals 9999 damage period. The attacks, that deal more than 9999 automatically deal 99999 damage (certain Dark Aeon attacks for example), meaning Break HP Limit would be useless against those anyway. Going only for 9999 HP instead of 99999 has one more major benefit: Healing your characters is way easier and way faster. When your character gets revived with Auto-Phoenix it's much easier to heal them to max life when "max life" means 9999 HP (X-Potion heals 9999 HP).
    I personally use Auto-Haste, Auto-Protect (this + max Defense stats enables everything mentioned above) and Auto-Phoenix (if a character DOES die because they got hit with 99999 dmg the character gets instantly revived). For my 4th slot I farmed Ribbons for my 3 main characters (Tidus, Rikku, Wakka; because they can fight underwater).

      I don't agree. You don't need Zanmato for Dark Valefor. Just get Yuna well-leveled (which she will be, being the White Mage), and watch Anima OHKO that black canary into submission. Besides, grinding Dark Valefor, Dark Ifrit and Dark Ixion for Ribbon armors is MUCH EASIER compared to Dark Yojimbo grinding.

    Number 2 is why Tales of Vesperia got pretty difficult in the second half of the game. When Estelle leaves the party, you don't have a white mage anymore (from my recollection) and you have to use items to heal.

    • @xKingx16
      @xKingx16 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @Templar2k77

      Sekate50 But you had the stun locking swordmaster Yuri along with the mighty Blah blah blah

    • @SekateStudio
      @SekateStudio 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      *****
      Yuri is definitely OP, but at this point in the game, you still can't chain as many combos as you do in NG+, when Yuri really unleashes his full potential. Also, most human bosses have Void Attack or can simply tech out of your combos, which can doom Yuri if he doesn't have Void Attack himself or Glory. While Estelle is an easy boss(if we forget the solo part), Shwann can tech out at will. He is a pain and you don't even have Raven in your party for this part(because of obvious reasons) and your only healing sources(aside of items) are Guardian Field and Nice Aid Smash(unless you have Nice Punishing Smash). None of them heal that much and they all work in really small AoE. Then we have to fight Zagi. While he is not a challenge in himself, he's annoying with his tech outs and his combos. At least we have Raven for this fight.
      The other big challenge we face is a giant flying swordfish which can deal AoE damage, stun your team and can seriously damage your allies because of their dumb AIs. He also has classic boss shit, like Void Attack and that one thing that makes your weapons bounce. I hate that.

    Totally right on with white mages. FF1 is suicide without a white Mage. Beating Zeromus without Rosa healing each turn is impossible. Next to Ultima, you need all those high level heals for Kefkas tower. Though no white Mage is as broken as Peach in SMRPG or Cream the Rabbit in Sonic Chronicles.

    • @SFLiminality
      @SFLiminality 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Katie Baily FF 1 is a cake walk with 4 Warriors and just potions, haha. 4 red mages is fun too. 4 black mages... not so much. 4 white mages is suffering.

    • @frozenaorta
      @frozenaorta 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Final Fantasy 1 is not that difficult without a white mage really. You can heal just as easily with stuff like the heal helmet (unlimited) and potions. And replacing her with anther offensive powerhouse just means faster battles and less damage. Zeromus without Rosa (or Porum in Advance) is damn near unthinkable, though. Never struggled with anything in Kefka's tower--it's too easy to overpower your enemies.
      Agreed on Peach. Game becomes impossible to lose once she joins, minus maybe the optional superboss (Culex?).

    • @ZaleanderHeat
      @ZaleanderHeat 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      FF1 is the easiest RPG I've ever played. I've soloed the entire game with a black wizard, and it was still easy as hell. Just use items and know the stat mechanics, as well as where to grind for power plus/mind plus ect.

    • @frozenaorta
      @frozenaorta 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ZaleanderHeat "easiest you've ever played?" Wow. You need to play more RPGs. Even the aforementioned Super Mario RPG is a far less challenging game. If you're playing the original on the NES itself, I find it hard to believe that you didn't find a bit of a challenge at the Marsh Cave, the Earth Cave, and Gurgu Volcano the first time playing. There is some serious grinding involved in that game, and not everyone knows about the Peninsula of Power without a guide. Which I am sure you used. That was something we had to locate on our own back in 1991.

    • @Darkkefka
      @Darkkefka  8 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      +shotbboy Degenerator doesn't work on Omega Weapon. Vanille's Death doesn't work on Long Gui and the Final Ceith Mission. Zanmato works on the Dark Aeons and Penance. That's the difference.

    • @Northwite
      @Northwite 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Darkkefka But it requires heavy manipulation to even come close to being a "spam." It's not really a spam, and speed runners use Zanmato and they are far from noobs.

    • @gustavv6763
      @gustavv6763 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +NorthernDragon Well that's different, they do it because its the quickest way to be the game and that's what they're trying to do. He calls the people who beat every boss in the game with zanmato noobs because they can't do it without zanmato.

    • @Northwite
      @Northwite 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gustav Vögeli He never qualified his statement that way. He said Zanmato is for noobs, and it's not. Honestly, if he's the kind of person that enjoys grinding for levels until he's maxed with the best gear and then Penance or the Dark Aeons are a cakewalk for him, all the power to him. But many are not like that and would rather not spend hours grinding just to face a single opponent. Zanmato is perfectly fine.

    • @gustavv6763
      @gustavv6763 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      NorthernDragon I agree, theres really no differance between grinding and killing penance with no sweat and doing zanmato and not grinding and still win. It's just a matter of what you feel comfortable doing, it's the same thing as using broken things in online games.

    Never seen you mention Tactics on here yet. First thing I thought when I saw the topic was Ramza's squire abilities. Scream is probably the most overpowered ability in that game. Calculator's Math Skill can pretty much wipe the board clean if your speed is high enough to go on the first turn and you have a powerful spell with a high enough MA. Won't even mention solo Orlandu. You should give Final Fantasy Tactics 1.3 a try. Unlike the vanilla it's actually a challenge.

    You got some great concepts for these videos and they can be fun to watch, keep bringing them and keep improving and im going to keep watching! Also, I always try to avoid using these "easy tactics" as much as I can cause I hate feeling like im cheating the game on certain enemies! And for Neochu on FF13 you don't need to spam Death, just have the instachain ability set on at least 2 characters and you should be able to take it out rather quickly!

  • @nightdagger
    @nightdagger 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Despite the fact that you advocate using Degenerator, the fact that it doesn't work on most bosses doesn't make it one of the most "overpowered" spams in my opinion. Yeah, you'll wreck any normal enemy with it, but a truly overpowered spam doesn't care what you're hitting with it, it dies.
    Like Zell, when you junction some super strong magic to his strength, get him into a limit break, and spam Punch Rush and Booyah over and over. You get anywhere from 4 to 12 seconds, depending on how much shit you're in at the time it triggers. Punch Rush and Booyah both take, if you're fast with the buttons, about .2 seconds to enter (I've pulled off .1 before, but .2 is my average). That means on a minimum time limit break (4.66 seconds), you're executing 23 attacks if you do it flawlessly...on even footing with Lionheart. On a maximum time limit break (12 seconds) on a flawless execution you pull off 60 attacks in a single ATB turn...and can probably do it again as soon as his ATB fills again if you have him under Aura and in critical HP. And the best part is that, unlike other limit breaks, you don't have to gather rare components or burn cards for rare items or spend time hunting down parts to build a weapon...you can use it from the very moment you get Zell in your party. It's such a common strategy that people have dubbed it his "Armageddon Fist" limit break.
    Now THAT shit is broken.

    • @lisasemarron5413
      @lisasemarron5413 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      really?

    • @SquallLionhart409
      @SquallLionhart409 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Kind of, but not really. Zell's limit break has a lower DC than most hits, so even against an enemy in Vit0 (negates the defense stat) his punches don't reach the damage cap. Max strength means you'll be hitting around 4-5k per attack, compared to the nearly guaranteed 10k of each Lionheart hit. 60 hits of 4k is around the damage output of Lionheart, though a 12 second Duel is far more likely than Lionheart anyways.
      If you get high luck though... you can see those glorious 9999s show up. Zell can get critical hits during his limit. All of the guys can get criticals on any hit that you don't pull the trigger for, for that matter.
      The other thing to consider is finger speed. The fastest I've managed to get was .05. Maintaining that would be 20 attacks per second, for a total of over 200 hits... Duel has the highest damage output per turn possible in FF8, and is among the highest (if not THE highest) of any FF I'm familiar with. Even Anima's 1.6 mil pales compared to the theoretical 3.6 mil Zell can do. (Frame perfect inputs gives around 361 hits)
      More often than not Zell will be doing pitiful damage per hit, with awful damage per second (not damage per turn, but actual real-time seconds of you playing) meaning Irvine or Squall are better options for speeding through the game. The ceiling is high, the floor is low for Duel. Chances are any casual use of it will be less damaging than a Renzokuken or Shot, but the potential is stupidly high. Without any luck junction, meltdown, and normal fingers Lionheart > Shot > Duel, but with luck junctions, meltdown, and fast fingers Duel > Shot > Lionheart.

    Interesting video! Everything was put together VERY well... except for 2 things worth editing. 1) Put the title of the game by each countdown number. Not all of us have played each game, and I'm sure I couldn't have been the only one interested by footage from one I never played, yet don't know the titles if I decided to buy them. 2) I know people mentioned how difficult your speech is to understand, and it isn't easy to fix. Why not have someone else provide commentary? You spoke very fast too, so maybe slowing down might help. Your vids are great but it's a shame it's too difficult to follow your commentary.

    Here's an old tactic that helps for a majority of the series: wall/reflect rings and multi-targeting a reflectable spell. If you are facing a single enemy, doing this can actually give the damage output of 2 casts of the same spell for the cost of one. This was an awesome tactic in FFV and FFVI because you could crush elementally weak enemies with ease. This was also great in FFX and FFX-2 making Lulu a beast in the right setup. This also carried into Bravely Default and Bravely Second making some bosses trivial. True, it is not as broken as some of the aforementioned abilities on the list, but it doesn't need as much of a setup as some of them.

      Darkkefka Walter Cronkite trained himself to speak slower when he would broadcast the news. It took dedication, but he managed to learn to speak approximately 124 words a minute. I'm not saying to go that slow, but slowing down your speech, and doing a trail run before hand helps. You should also have a friend who is able to give constructive criticism, and is willing to help you screen your videos. Many have also stated it is possibly the mic.

It doesnt work on every enemy, but it does work on most of them. You get tons of items/accessories, and awards you gil, exp, and ap as if you defeated them.

    One you may not be aware of is saber/berserk in FFI and FFII. These (items in ff1, spell in ff2) increase a character's attack without them going into a berserk status. The part that makes them overpowered is that they can be stacked infinitely, making the bosses of those games trivial with enough setup. If you spend a couple turns casting sabers/berserks (and maybe a haste) on a single character, that character can kill the boss regardless of how underleveled you are.

    My most overpowered spam. In ff7, the method I used to beat Emerald Weapon. Have 1 character summon both Knights of the Round and Phoenix, and then the entire party use mimic from then on. Phoenix revives all party members with full health so as long as someone is alive you can just keep going until you win. The spam also allows you to save magic as mimic costs nothing. Even without Knights of the Round the spam makes you pretty much invincible and able to kill nearly everything, just taking more rounds to do it.

    The catnip trick was butchered in the international and by extension HD versions of 10-2. Now it adds berserk and slow. So the girl equipped with it can't attack quickly and can't do any other command but attack. Meaning no trigger happy. Still does 9999 damage with each hit, but is so slow it really doesn't help. You're right about Vanille.
    I actually really like her too.
    I never entered a battle without Vanille.
    My main party was Fang, Hope and Vanille.
    I prefer to use Fang as Leader because...
    1) She has a lot of HP and is a good Sentinel and Commando
    2) Apparently both Hope and Vanille heal better when I don't control them 😅
    But yeah. Vanille is a very big boost to the party...

    Two things:
    When I was able to use virus/bio in ffiv that was my go-to spell and I would just spam the life out of it. It induced sap, was non-elemental, multi-target, cheap, FAST, and looked and sounded cool. It wasn’t until I had the magic power to cast the level 3/-ga spells or had flare.
    Second, xiii wasn’t a bad game by no means, but after ten games of the same final fantasy style, ffxii came and everything was different: director, composer, look, feel, etc. (I love ffxii I own both orig and TZA) then ffxiii came and another huge overhaul again and many didn’t have time to digest the new change. (I am not a fan of ffxiii but def can see why people are, especially -2 did a great job ironing out the issues from the first one) and since then it’s been kinda tumultuous in getting the right footing back in today’s more...interesting game industry. Fingers crossed, ffviiR will balance the minefield field and hopefully create a new, functional blend of the nostalgic with the modern.
    End of report.

    Hey, for Crisis Core, some of those monster simply have WAAAAY to much HP to do it any other way. Minerva has 10,000,000 HP. Unless you like fighting a battle for 2 or more hours, Minerva growing increasingly faster with her attacks as it progresses, I'd say it was the saner choice that Squaresoft incorporated into the game purposefully.

    I've been watching your FF Top Tens for years but I didnt want to comment on them until now. This one I will give my two cents in to each entry. Just for everyone's information: when i play a game I go all out and win however i can, so nothing is considered 'cheap' or 'spam' to me. Anyway, here I go:
    #0: Zanmato. I didnt know i could use it on bosses! Huh, guess i will use it once the first time and then try to beat it the old fashioned way the following round of play.
    #10: Costly punch. I only beat this game once and never used this, and because i wasnt a fan of Crisis Core i havent played it since. Funny looking move, at least.
    #9: Vanille. I like her as a character, but i never did use her for farming XP or CP. I really dont like the RNG in XIII anyway so I dont really care either way.
    #8: Degenerator. Too bad when you use it you don't get XP for the monster that died.
    #7: Never dug into the game deep enough to realize how to prioritize the monsters in the party. Gilgamesh kinda killed my enthusiasm for the DLC...mostly.
    #6: Quick & Master Scroll. Havent gotten far in VI to know this combo existed. I will definitely use it when I come across it (as well as the Ultima Weapon). Man that makes the game look easier than it actually is.
    #5: Yuna in Dissidia. She is definitely one of the best characters to use in the story mode as well as in the uber hard extra scenario (I know this because I have 100% this game). Spamming power moves is truly the only way to go even for a veteran like me, those late game manikins are merciless and will screw you up.
    #4: Rikku. I replaced Yuna with her as my primary healer. I knew she was useful the moment I used her Mix ability the first time.
    #3: Reverse. TBH, I never even knew this spell existed, and I've beaten both versions of XII (though to be fair, I never fought Yiazmat to learn extra strategies).
    #2: White Mage. You call that a spam? I call it the FF Life Insurance policy lol. I never go into battle without one. EVER.
    #1: Catnip + Gunner. Huh...well, now that this has been nerfed in the HD Remaster there's no way I am going to try the Via Infinito. Honestly, I beat the game never knowing that combo existed.

    i know this is old post but since i finished via infinito in ps3 i can assure that you can finish this dungeon without catnip you just need a lot of time to max your characters (can do it afk) and get multiple copies of mascot (if you cant do it on a single run or a single mascot) and dress change a lot to get all the buffs on the grid specially the limit breaks or +def and +m.def

    Dude, I totally beat Yiazmat without reverse in FF12. I didn't even know about that trick when I played through. I can honestly say that FF12 was the only FF game that I've done EVERYTHING. I frickin' love it!

    Although you cant spam multi-lines in FF9, the two broken attacks i can assure is Zidane's Thievery ([Speed Stat * Successful Steal]/2 = Damage) and Freya Dragon Crest (Dragons killed^2 = Damage). Although it requires a bit of grinding to make it cap, but after the grind, it ALWAYS ensure a 9999. And heck, against some absurd and extreme high defence monsters where nothing can scratch it, they deal a fixed 9999(E.g. Friendly Yan)

    I took on Yiazmat without Reverse by getting in his face. But that was not easy and took many, many, many hours of tinkering with the Gambit system and collecting items.
