I would still bring it up to him here and there and his eyes would light up. He returned once more to the game for about 6 months but after that he quit for good. I have it on like every single gaming platform I own lol 😂 PS2, PS4, PC, Switch lol I have played it so many times and know it like the back of my hand lol. It took a very long time for me to realize Tidus wasnt actually transported to the future. Ive beaten the game multiple times and I know they outright say it but in my mind i thought Dream Zanarkand was being created the moment Tidus landed "in the future"
Well we learn that Jecht/Sin was how Auron was able to go to Dream Zanarkand and back. A lot of people seem to get thrown off seemingly fighting there during the final battles, but it's really just the few broken remaining memories Jecht still has and not DZ. Also I'm glad it was finally mentioned that Sin actively protects DZ as a physical location, attacking sea-faring peoples and those advancing technology to potentially discover it. It gives Sin actual motive besides just being evil. Perhaps in canon, Sin (as Jecht) allowed us to fly around on the Fahrenheit as long as we didn't approach DZ and perhaps why Baaj was hidden on the map.
I love, love, LOVE the fayth statue/painting(?) that is used for each separate summon. Those are so damn cool! I’m referring to the things on the floor that incorporates parts of the person who became the fayth and parts of the summon they would come to represent. I’m really happy that summons, as a class of being, are becoming more and more integral to the actual story, rather than just flashy magic attacks like how they began. I think 6 was the first to do this? I could be wrong lol
lol considering its the greatest story in video game history, nobody has told a story this good since (or before). Its not sad, someone has to be the best.
I will say that while ffx is my favourite in the series, i can't really agree with the point on Square not making a story as good since, the reason for this is ff14
@@kevincapote82 my point exactly, FF14 is the reason i can't agree with what the original commenter when they said "Square hasn't told a story this good in over 20 years"
After watching others play FFX since its release on PC I've grown to appreciate it far more than in my own playthroughs. It's a work with a stellar understanding of its own themes and so thoroughly builds the whole world and its characters around them in a way that I've rarely seen accomplished outside of it and FFXIV. Greatly enjoyed the video, the fluid structure - outside of simply being nice to listen to - I think it better expresses that interconnectedness FFX did so well.
Love the seamless transitions through each of the points in the video. I think it’s something that can be easily overlooked if you’re not paying attention to it, but demonstrates a very good understand of the material being covered. Keep up the great work, looking forward to the next video
This video is SO good. I love how it effortlessly flows from one lore topic to the next almost all of which i’d forgotten or never realized back in 2000. Thanks

These videos are good, as when you are playing the games, not only is it easier to forget the collections of little pieces of information as they come to you in sometimes forgettable and sometimes missable segments, but you often learn the information as you are in the middle of another task. Making these compilations help contextualize everything.
These lore videos just get better and better! Felt like one seamless story of Spira and it’s inhabitants throughout. Really well done! Here’s to many more!

While some games make lore towards political intrigue or the story of the world, FFX makes something special because is deep lore focused on characters, their stories and their actions, that's what makes this game so unique
20 years ago I thought the FMVs of FFX were as good as 3D graphics could EVER look. 20 years later, even cell phone games can make those FMVs look primitive. But what HASN'T changed is that FFX is a damn good RPG. Blitzball, summons that you can control, an amazing story, flashy ultimate moves for every character (even the temporary guest character!), deep "post final boss" content... the list of good things just go on and on.
the biggest secret and mystery on FF X is Did Tidus and his family (his Mom and Dad) is based on real zanarkand person or not......??! And if someone want X-3, I suggest based on Zanarkand ancient war with Bevelle 1000 years ago, not about Braska Journey because X already tell his story. Story about zanarkand peoples on that time like Yunalesca and his father Yu Yevon and his motivation to become SIN absolutly intriguing me.
So do we know what fayth and aeon were at the Baaj temple before it was destroyed and before Seymour brought his mom's fayth? Great video as always, very smooth transitions.
Possibly the original home of Bahamut? Leviathan is conspicuously missing in a magic system that otherwise balances opposed pairs of elements (fire, ice, lightning, water) instead of the usual FF rock-paper-scissors arrangement of three (fire, ice, lightning), where water is an oddball/rare element, as with wind. We see the literal ghost of Leviathan as Evrae Eternae, and Bevelle strongly features water in its architecture design, so what if Bevelle was the original home of Leviathan, replaced by Bahamut after whatever happened to make Leviathan unusable? Having an aeon would be necessary to maintain their central position in the pilgrimage.
@@xheralt Leviathan doesn’t exist in the lore of FFX because Sins design is based on the biblical myth of Leviathan appearing as a sort of devil whale. Hence it’s affiliation to water and Bevelle (a city on the water) being the stronghold of the Yevon cult.
@@kjh4496 NO. Just...no. Leviathan doesn't exist because of production deadlines that precluded its inclusion. As noted before the games magic system otherwise very carefully balances fire versus ice and lightning versus water in enemy elemental affiliation and usage. It being a "devil whale" didn't inhibit it from appearing in other titles. Ifrit has the classic appearance of a demon, and due to being an Arabic godlet is often considered as such. Valefor, I've discovered (courtesy of Shadow Hearts: Covenant) is the name of a demon of the Bastion of Riches. Leviathan has a strong secular meaning of simply being anything very large. Hence, demonic associations with the name did not cause exclusion.
@@xheralt Everything you just said is nonsense. There were no plans for Leviathan to be in the game ever. Sin already has the image of the myth of Leviathan and occupies the ocean. Also Aeons are not guardians of the temples they are in or the region they occupy based on their elemental affinity , they have no physical manifestations outside of being summoned as they are made of pyreflies.
my first FF game was FFVII. and as mush as I love the antagonist of that series, Sephiroth, and the lore behind FFVII, specifically Crisis Core; There's no denying that FFX was the best story hands down! of the series and the lore especially.
Wow there was a lot in here I didn't know and this is my favorite FF. I don't remember a lot of this stuff being talked about in the game. Was a lot of this information in some sort of lore guide or the ultimania? In any case this is cool.
FFX is my favorite video game of all time next to Jade Dynasty. Its the only game I ever played that made me cry my ass off at the end. Such a great storyline and overall game.
I absolutely disagree with that. It has somehow become an article of faith among FFX fans, maybe from something in the Ultimania (which I have not read). I will maintain to my dying breath that dream zanarkand is, well, a DREAM, that is has no physical existence anywhere on Spira, much less near Baaj. It's like Cities:Skyline on steroids played out in the virtual space of the Farplane. The fayth Scar is the hardware, the memories of the 100's of encased souls are the data ROMS (imperishable and unchanging because encased in stone), with Yevon's summoning spell being the game engine. Yevon needs energy to keep the casting going, and once he first took over Sin (shortly after Sin was summoned), he had a renewable energy source...the aeons (and Final Aeons) fed to Sin in the name of putting Sin down! Yunalesca loved her father, and did his bidding to perpetuate his grand scheme. She knew what would happen to her husband when she made him into the first Final Aeon, a deep betrayal that marked her soul in ways not apparent until Yuna drew out her final medusa-esque form a thousand years later! Thus the cycle began.
@@enoyna1001 Whoa, where and when does Dream Zanarkand EVER directly interact with the surface world, in-game? I'll tell you right now: NEVER. Tidus's brief return at the Fayth Scar was in spirit only, his unconscious Spiran body left behind (much to the concern of the party!). *Aeons are not dreams,* they are summoned manifestations with specific defined (and temporary) forms. A more valid comparison would be Tidus vs. unsent such as Seymour or Auron, who built bodies for themselves from pyreflies via sheer willpower. Tidus's Spiran body was _built for him_ using Sin's power when Auron came to DZ. The FAYTHS are the dreamers, having been immortalized but with little to do when not granting (or refusing) aeons to prospective summoners. Or, if part of the Fayth Scar, dreaming of Zanarkand-that-Was. Don't confuse your beer or gin with the glass you drink it in.
I call bullshit on DZ being physical because if it were ANYWHERE on the surface, it would be found. Exploring Al Bhed would find it. You can't hide the lights and noise of something the size of New York City, of SIngapore, of Dubai. LOOK at dream Zanarkand, with the giant water arches! THOSE would be visible over the horizon long before the city itself! Rippling and moving _the wrong way_ with respect to the rest of the ocean, THAT would catch a sailor's attention! Sound travels surprising distances, especially over quiet oceans at night, and Spira's oceans are VERY quiet!
@@xheralt Sin (Jecht) interacts with/attacks DZ literally in the beginning of the game and later Spira which would suggest it's both real. You seem to be stuck in your very first playthrough regarding your explanations, go read the FF wiki or something. There's no point trying to convince you what's truly happening in the game.
Yes! This was a wonderful video. I loved how well you put it all together. I felt very similar to a Vaati video from Elden Ring and I was intrigued throughout. I would love to see more of these from all of the games!
One thing I've always wondered about FFX - when Braska and Jecht die for the final summoning, do they die then and there in Zanarkand, or did Yunalesca turn Jecht into an aeon, then Auron and Braska walked back to the calm lands to fight sin? Also, is every iteration of Sin the same. In FFX it is a big massive whale thing, but previous versions could've possibly been different
I think I never saw a game as alive as this. on every corner there is history to find spanning back 100s of years which all are clearly still seen in the culture presented now and woven into the story line. it really feels like they created the world first and then included the story afterwards.
Fantastic video! The deep-seeded lore is probably one of the reasons I liked FFX, in spite of its numerous flaws. Same goes with FFXI where they spent something like 3 years developing the world and history before even writing for it. I'd love to see a lore video covering all of that.
i just got back on playing it.... I'm trying to beat it 100%, but as i was re-playing it, i noticed how little i knew about the game and its plot. its truly a masterpiece! 10/10
I don't know if this is true but I just realized that when you run away after fighting Seymour the first time and the Wendigo, under the temple you are actually on top of Sin as the broken down buildings on Sin are there and the rock formation is similar to Sin's fins. In the scene the lake is huge and sin is floating there and notice the other character didn't drown. BUUUUUUUT I could be wrong.
I always assumed that Yojimbo was the original Fayth of Baaj Temple before it was stolen and taken to the Cavern. It obviously had to have come from somewhere and the fuu dog statues at Baaj invoke the imagery of Yojimbo's dog. With the Fayth gone, it allowed Seymour to stick Anima's Fayth there.

This peeks my Interest. I want to know EVERYTHING There Is on *Final Fantasy X* right here
Wow there was a lot in here I didn't know and this is my favorite FF. I don't remember a lot of this stuff being talked about in the game. Was a lot of this information in some sort of lore guide or the ultimania? In any case this is cool.
Finally, a number other than 7.
Man FFX will forever be my favorite. Idc how many remakes you make. This one will forever be number 1 for me, music, world, relationships etc
It's a little high paced and disjointed, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
I could do another. VIII would be good.
Loved to see this deep dive into FFX and there's so much more to dive into when we're talking about 2, the book, calm, and the audio drama
FFX is my favorite video game of all time next to Jade Dynasty. Its the only game I ever played that made me cry my ass off at the end. Such a great storyline and overall game.
Nice! I see you managed to find the cutscene of Wantz talking to his sister on your own!
As much as I thought I knew about this game, I still learn!!! Great video!
It's amazing how you made all this flow so seamlessly!
Dream Zanarkand was on the same plane as Spira?! Sin was the Guardian?!? I never ever knew this! That is so cool!
@@xheraltAeons are dreams and also physically interact (battle) with Spira, the same is true for Dream Zanarkand.
Very well written with pace and flow. Thank you for making this, I hope there is more FFX content in the future!
FFX has such a unique lore, you will never see a movie/game that can get even close
I wish i could re-experience this game again. Truly a spectacle. I have it #2 on my all time list
Thoroughly enjoyed watching this. Ffx will always be my favourite, spent so many of my 6 weeks holidays playing this and monster hunter ❤
Yes! This was a wonderful video. I loved how well you put it all together. I felt very similar to a Vaati video from Elden Ring and I was intrigued throughout. I would love to see more of these from all of the games!
Recently went back on to try FFX-2 hellish 100%, after giving it a second chance I’ve finally found it really enjoyable
You did amazing on this. Thank you so much for bringing honor to this story with your understanding and teaching of it!!
FFX was the best FF, and given the route the franchise is taking, it will go down as the best FF of all time.
I'd love it if you could do a video like this for the other mainline FF games
This was always one of my top favorite FF games, and I didn’t know at least half of this.
First FF game & one of my favourite games ever, has to be the game I've replayed the most, I think it's nearly time again
I learnt sooo much from this video, and the flow was seemlees. Thanks so much for putting it together, and I hope you do more.
I think I never saw a game as alive as this. on every corner there is history to find spanning back 100s of years which all are clearly still seen in the culture presented now and woven into the story line. it really feels like they created the world first and then included the story afterwards.
Great video!
My friend and I are currently doing a NSG run right now. Just got through the highroad.
Thank you for so much great content. You together with Night sky prince and Final Fantasy peasant made me want to start a channel ❤❤❤❤❤
I freaking love these videos. I could talk about ffx, ffviii, and FFVII all day. Such amazing games
I love this game so much, i am playing ff8 right now without VA immersion is reduced
Had fun once you could sorta explore at the end. I do think I played more blitz ball than main story.
Just beat the game again recently. Still great
Just started my replay of X last night. Amazing
This is a great video! I’d love to see more like this on other ff games 😊
Fantastic lore video! I'd be interested in more like this: 20 to 30 minutes in length.
Fantastic video! The deep-seeded lore is probably one of the reasons I liked FFX, in spite of its numerous flaws. Same goes with FFXI where they spent something like 3 years developing the world and history before even writing for it. I'd love to see a lore video covering all of that.
fantastic video I am always surprised that there is STILL small things I don't know about this game!
9:40 I don't believe it was Sin who attacked and destroyed Home, it was the Guado.
Just when I think I’ve learned everything I could about FFX, you give me even more interesting information, it’s fantastic! Thank you!
I love learning new things about this game. I think with this video i need to start my yearly playthrough
really enjoyed all this lore to my fave FF ever! definitely would be interested in more videos like this for other entries in the series :D
Wow i never knew that tidbit about O'aka. Legit had me tearing up upon hearing about it.
It's pronounced "Tidus" not "Tidus"
Could you make a video about the evolution of Ramuh, it’s one of the summons I don’t know so much about
i just got back on playing it.... I'm trying to beat it 100%, but as i was re-playing it, i noticed how little i knew about the game and its plot. its truly a masterpiece! 10/10
This was by far my most favorite platinum. Im currently cursing 9's jump rope mini game and ATE system. The pain. Lol.
When wakka finally understood I cried
Final Fantasy Union, This is fantastic! I subscribed because I love it!
Wakka used to annoy me so much. 😂
As a hardcore FFX fan, this video was amazing. Thank you.
This was really well put together, thanks.
You're welcome.
Thank you so much for the support!
One of the *descendants* of O'Holland, not ancestors, right?
Great video, should do one for X-2 as I love both games story and how each is told.
This video cleared up a lot of things for me regarding the story.
Lulu’s jump off that ship though 😂 👌
I loved this video. FFX is one of my favourite games and I still learned a lot of cool facts that I didn't know from playing the game
Now this is what I’m talking about, fantastic video
