I bought a 2009 C300 4Matic about a year ago and it's been an absolute pleasure to drive. All I've needed to do is regular B service, plus replacing a few bulbs and recharging the AC. I was able to get all of these done for a very reasonable price at a local shop that specializes in German vehicles. I'm at 105k miles and hoping for many, many more. Highly recommend this vehicle.
@@gregdesena4207 Is there any mercedes (as an used car owner of the brand) you are looking forward into? I am getting a reasonable price on a 2013 model, also a 2015 GLK, just wondering if you have any ideas?
@@SmartTimesMX I had some issues with the blower motor shorting out on my W204 due to a design flaw in the pre-facelift models that allowed water from melting ice and snow into the compartment where it was mounted. I had the blower motor replaced and it shorted out again a week later. Mercedes informed me that parts damaged due to water were not covered under warranty, but that they would try to diagnose and fix the recurring problem for a "reasonable" price after I'd just paid over $1000 to have the motor and relay replaced. I decided at that point it was time to move on, so I purchased a 2018 CLA 250 4Matic with 55k miles. I am definitely a fan of the GLK of that era, but my next purchase will likely be something older to have a second car to take to shows and such.
my c280 is still at 130k ... powerful but costed me some major repairs, the torque converter and then the steering locking system, apart from that.. it has been a charm, girls look at me differently now
I have a 2013 Mercedes C300 Sport 4MATIC. Bought it with 51k miles, now at 80k. Only recently I replaced all brake pads and rotors, did a brake flush/bleed, a coolant flush and transmission flush. I also replaced all six spark plugs to double iridium. I replaced the serpentine belt. I noticed that my front, passenger side, inner cv boot looked as if it was cut on purpose. It makes no noise when turning. No popping or cracking from debree entering the ball bearings. Mechanic quoted $400 for the axle and $400 in labor. I even bought a replacement boot but they wouldn't just replace the boot in case it fails and it will be on them to replace the axle? My blower motor makes a chirping noise when on low fan speed, between 1-4 to be exact. Anything faster the noise disappears. Very noticeable when braking, I believe the vibration also causes the blower motor to perhaps shake. Ordered liquid bearing lubricant to see if that will fix it, unless the blower motor itself is full of debree, in which case I will be cleaning. The car pulls slightly to the right if I let the steering wheel go. Mechanics have told me that it's how our roads are angled? I got an alignment done from two different tire centers. Also noticed that the outer part of my front tires have worn prematurely. Rears look perfect. (Staggered set up) First thing I thought was the tires were under inflated. I had them on 37s all summer/fall with rears at 38-40.I did notice that the tires poked out a bit away from the wheel. Now that I've set them to 40s, the side wall is more flush with the wheel. Will see if the same thing happens on this set of tires. In the interior, the MB-TEX material on the bottom of the driver seat has a tear. Dealer would sell the material but could not reupholster. I am instead looking for a new seat online that's in good condition. The steering wheel has faded on the top part, most likely due to the sun. I bought brown leather dye and sponged it over, which ended up looking great. My rear, driver side tail light has bugs in it due to the missing cover inside the trunk. I had to buy an entire left side trunk liner just for the square tail light housing cover. Lastly, my infotainment screen is fully functional, other than the fact that the display is mirrored/inverted. Used car dealership promised to pay for the cost, but ended up screwing me over, and now I'm left with this issue. No clue what could possibly be the issue. I've looked into replacing the entire LCD screen. I'm bringing it to the dealership to have them "diagnose" it. Probably going to update the system to see if that works. Other than all of the above, I absolutely love driving this car. I have the grille blacked out, the badges are all black, even the center emblems on the wheels. The tints are 20% all around. HID headlights, low beam and high beam. Side marker lights are clear with an orange bulb. The car looks amazing.

Bough a 20011 C300 25k. No idea who was hiding this gem in a garage. I feel like a found a gold mine. It looks like it just came out of the manufacture. 💯 perfect. In and out. Rides like a dream very good in fuel economy. I hope I will own it forever.
I have a 2011 C200 CDI with only 144,000km on the clock. I was also lucky that a couple had it and they traded it in for an upgrade to bigger car. Anyways It’s great. Very sporty considering that I had a 2001 E270 CDI before which was amazing also!
I own a C250 2013 Luxury, I bought it with 50K now It has 120K, It drives wonderful and It feels like a knife on butter, I took of to the dealer until it reach the 100K after that I found a Honest and great mechanic that works just in Mercedes, I take it now every 5K for service and complete what advise the service booklet. I was skeptic about to buy a Mercedes but now I widely recommend it and of course with the advise to not be cheap and give any maintenance that the car require and It will continue be a jewel. Good luck every one.
Excellent review and advice.. I have owned 2 of these cars, both with the smallest petrol engine, the 1595cc with just 156bhp which is more than anyone needs on today's camera infested roads and ridiculous speed limits in the UK and elsewhere. Both cars were faultless, one for over 5 years, it was 3 years old when bought by me and the other was bought new in 2012. I still have it, low miles for the year, just 75,000. It looks like new and drives perfectly and has always been serviced by Mercedes engineers at the recommended intervals which appear on screen. I have no doubt it will still be running well in 10 years time.
Door handles can be fixed for $20 with super glue, two nylon washers, and plastic pry tools to remove the inner door panel. I had to do this on the driver side door.
@@mercpindi5522 depends which faults you want... Used Audis start eating oil and used BMWs have weird problems with electronics, for example mirrors stop working
Sorry to burst your bubbles but do not buy C250s with the 4cylinder turbo. You will have timing chain and turbo issues well before 200k. C300 or c350 with the v6 are the best to get. Pre 2012 with the older 3L are the most reliable.
remi lasoste hi mate, did it break before you fixed it or did you fix it before as precaution? And also how much did it set you back? Did you go to MB to fix. Sorry for the questions I’m looking at buying a c63 but not sure if I should go for a 08-11

bought a 08 W204 C350 with 107K miles runs and feels great. only needed a intake manifold and tune up. very strong on HP, still gets 30 - 32 MPG on highway.
I have a C250 wagon with 245000km. At 220000 km had to change fuel pump other than that it still drives like new. Great car as long as you maintain and service it.
One major flaw with the W204 is corrosion on the rear subframe. A lot of UK owners have been able to have their subframe replaced free of charge by Mercedes. I am in this very situation myself with my own W204 (2009 C200 Sport CDI saloon) which is booked in for a free inspection at a local dealer. I will be documenting this on my own channel. Other than that, it is a lovely car and I certainly don't regret buying it.
In 2014, I bought a new C250 (W204). And in 2018, I bought a new C300 (W205) Both cars are fabulous and I love them both. I like the sportiness and quick handling of the W204 better than the W205. I like the roominess and ride comfort of the W205 better than the W204. So the W204 is my sports car and the W205 is my luxury car. The W204 now has 45,000 miles on it with zero problems. I had both cars maintained very religiously. 👍
Ruthless 12 street - Yes, I would. The 2014 C250 is the last year of the W204 series. It’s a big improvement and more reliable than it’s predecessor W203. Consumer Reports says a used 2014 C250 is reliable. Mine is 4 years old and I love it. No problems.
keep up with EARLY maintenance of: - front TRANFER CASE - TRANSMISSION ATF - rear DIFFERENTIAL These items use very SMALL QUANTITY of oil that gets degraded in a hurry. Conversely the engine oil good for 15kMi shoukd really be changed around 8kMi after that it turn into road tar sludge... take a look for yourself, read around forums. 👍
I have a Jupiter Red 2012 C350 4matic Sport coupe with the sport package including paddle shifters AMG pedals and AMG rims. I’ve had it for two months as of yesterday and I’m so happy to hear that driving long distances only is a good thing! I’m keeping this thing mint it only had 38k on it now I got it at 42k because I take it 50 min to boulder everyday for work. So it takes a lot of maintenance but I just detailed my engine bay just now! I can’t believe how fuel efficient the Blue Efficiency is. My mpg is insane one 40$ tank takes me all over the state for 3-4 days straight. And don’t get me started on Sport mode. I hit 153 racing a Mclaren on the highway won. A 2020 turboed Porsche gave me a run of my money but I pulled out on him too on a big stretch. This car is underrated asf I’m hype it was car of the year in Australia in 09! Not to mention the Harman and Kardon speakers good God there’s 8 speakers in there jammed in every corner of the car. There’s no limit to how high you can turn it up there’s literally no number that calculates it it just keeps going up. I can’t believe how dope my ride is I just want to put every dollar I make into cosmetic upgrades bc underneath the hood in this hoe is perfect the way it is from the mother!
I just bought a 2014 C63 AMG 2dr and a 2014 C300 4matic, the AMG for me and the C300 for my wife, we got them 3 weeks ago. And man do I love my AMG. All set with BMW, Audi, and Lexus. Mercedes is the way to go.
I have a 2011 w204 c300 v6 since new. It now has 102k miles and so far this thing is flawless. Reliable, practical, simple, elegant, inexpensive to maintain. I bought a 2018 c43 last year but I couldn’t trade the c300 in because I love it so I kept is as a second car. However, somehow the c300 has become my primary once again. I change tires every 15k miles since they were get loud -you can’t rotate them. It needs new engine mounts but that’s normal wear. I personally will not buy the c250 4 cylinder, it rides bouncy and hard, it feels Japanese. The v6 feels like a proper merc, soft but not too soft when driving. It fees like a tank but it’s agile. The doors are heavier and more solid than any other car I have ever owned. The c43 feels bulkier, less Mercedes, taller. I highly recommend the c300 from years 2008-2011. The 2015 and on c300s are boring, feel old, too big and they come with 4 cylinders. Trust me, the difference between the 4 cyl and 6 is huge. If u live in the usa, go for the 6 cyl.
2009 C280 avantgarde with 229,000km, few features don't work anymore. The doors dont properly lock, leather seats are super worned and chipped, but it still drives very smoothly. The petrol v6 eats a bit of fuel, and the automatic transimisson isn't too responsive, but overall still pretty solid.
My 204 from 2013 has done 188.000 km. Still running smooth without any noise! Had some repairs but he, thats normal. Giving this baby their frequent a and b service and they keep running.
I'm going to buy a w204 c63 AMG this year. 100% not a financially sound decision and I'll live at the petrol station but got damn am I gonna enjoy starting it up daily.
Great car, I had mine from new up to 190k. They need suspension struts and engine mounts every 75k, if you do it they drive like new. Around 140k you will have to replace the intake. It’s $800 for the part aftermarket plus labor. The electronic ignition failing is a know flaw in the 08 and 09, I had to replace two. The car gets stuck wherever you last parked it and it’s 1k to do dealer only plus the tow there. One of the front axles will most likely fail over 100k and aftermarket ones won’t last more than 3 months. Dealer charges 500-1000 just for the axel part depending on which side goes plus labor. THE MOST IMPORTANT thing to watch is the brake lines underneath the drivers side skirt panel. The panel is surprising easy to take off but no one ever does. You will find the brake lines rusted thru on many examples and needing replacement. Dealer wants 3k +. Def check that first before purchasing and coat yours with a spray right away. Once my brake lines went I donated it to cars for kids. Loved the car but I also own a repair shop and a tow company so the repairs weren’t that annoying. My suggestion is buy low miles and dump around 140k for climates that get rain and snow and city driving. If I dumped at 140 I would have got away with just the ignition problem and axle issue besides normal maintenance. I won’t keep anymore care past 130k
Just bought a c220cdi 2013 with 14 thousand miles and backed up with 11 merc dealer services , only issue so far is stop start doesn’t work had diagnostic and break vacuum sensor not working so stopping the function of the stop start , really don’t want the stop start working as they wreck the engine and auto box but i like everything to be in optimum condition , wish me luck as i do to all owners of these amazing cars
So I bought a 2013 C250 50k Miles for 16,500. Sticker was 42K plus....Clean title original owner 50 thousand miles (yes I got lucky) they had a new SL550 in the driveway and were ready to sell. So I changed the plugs at 55K notable difference. Now I will service the transmission. Turbos have to warm up......a little rough when cold but goes away when warmed up. The wobble on the tach is reported a lot but is normal for the car. Oh, I will say rep, acing the plugs put me at 35.6 MPH TOPS ON A ROAD TRIP. Now my wife doesn’t want to drive Her Prius, bought new with solar panel on the roof for 33K anymore...same year. I tell Her drive your 33K Prius you had to have....happy trails
the "the wobble on the tach" are you talking about a small variation of increasing and decreasing revs as you cruise? I have 2011 c300 4matic sport with 113k, and ive recently noticed my rev tachometer doing exactly a "wobble", i thought it was something bad..... are you sure its normal?

There are 2 Versions of the W204 C Class Mercedes. Up to 2011 and after 2011 Models. The later is refered to as the 'facelift' series and had so many improvements and fixes.
I bought a w204 c180 2011 and l had the luck to have to replace the torque converter and the spark plugs in the first week. Still waiting for the car but damn this car is amazing. Definitely recommended you feel like a boss in it!
My second hand c250 w204 is rock solid! Feels like a solid metal box and just has no creeks or fuss at all!! Great car and possibly the last true Mercedes creation.
Here in Canada I have 2009 c230 4matic c class. I have 260000 kilometres on it and I’ve had to replace the transmission which was covered by the used dealership at 180000 when i bought the car. With the new transmission I see this car going to 360000-420000 easy
How about talk about the real issues that they have other than the balance shaft. Like how the tail lamp carrier connectors get burnt out. The oil separator leaks oil, as well as cam plugs, and magnets. Check the rear Sam for water damage. Check the front headlight wires for damages. Especially the parking lamp bulbs. The only true common issue you talked about was the balance shaft
Mine is a real nightmare!!! C200 CDI W204 bought new jan 2012. At 45000 kms water pump changed in warranty. At 104000 kms another water pump.... changed. MB refused to apply any courtesy discount even recognised they had quality problems in these water pumps. I have to mention, the car has a maintenance programme paid plan, but water pumps are not covered !!! 3 water pumps. Now, 3rdJuly 2020, 133700 kms, the Thermatic clima air conditioning does not work properly and Mercedes dealer appointing date for 28th July. They say in cases like this will inject gas with colour to see if any loss. If not, probably the compressor is the problem. Finally in October 2020 MB dealer said the problem was the SAM board. Changed after 3 weeks waiting the SAM from Germany. Cost 800€. 2000 kms later, May 2021, still the same problem. Now, they say is the compressor. 1380€ and cross fingers….. In general, very nice car, safe and comfortable for long trips. After 5 Audi and 1 Volvo, this is my first MB. Never before I had to replace a water pump even in 185000 kms (Audi 100, 91’) . Only regular maintenance interval operations at official dealers. Perhaps my next car will be an Audi again or a Toyota. Regarding official workshops, in Mercedes they try you feel in a somewhat special atmosphere, VIP..... , but not a right to complaint. They are Mercedes !!! And prices are also Mercedes......€€€€€ I feel nostalgic of Audi and their care for customers.
I have a 2011 c220cdi blue efficiency. Be care of water pumps, mine failed at 50k out of the blue. Mercedes would not replace and I had to pay £650. Other than that I've had no problems
I had one in 2007 spec year only one issue was the automatic gearbox glitch..had it twice and the first time it cost £1500 to sort it out just over a year later the same glitch started again... it had to go...otherwise great to drive, quite solid, great handling and very very comfortable over long distances. My dad has one that’s 11 years old from new and it still going good.
My 2008 C180 kompressor works good! Running perfectly fine, everything works good at 182k. had some issues with automatic transmission, so i'm flushing the gearbox and add som new oil. Everything seems really good
I'm just waiting to find an proper C280 with sport package and manual.. it looks great even just with stock wheels ! And 231 hp with an 3L motor can just be insane 😍 and with the V6 it comes with 2 pipes what in my opinion looks better than the C63 exhaust..
Just bought a 2008 amg diesel. Had to spend £1000 on having the brakes replaced but its been well worth it. For less than £5000 total I doubt I could have got a better car. Great fun in the wet with traction control off, just as much fun in the dry but in more of a get around corners without even seeming close to the limit of grip kind of way. Yes the car is old and for 5grand I could get something much newer but if a car starts its life as a shit car it will always be a shit car but if you buy a car for £3500 ( like I did) and it at the time of purchase its a shit car, aslong as it started life as a good car, it can again be made into a good car and thats exactly what I got with the c200 cdi amg 🙂

I made one error. The key even if dead, you can get into the car and you just have to plug the key into the ignition whole. So in fact, you can still get the car to run which in your video you stated that you can't get the car to run if the battery in a key is dead which is not correct. All in all, this car it great but I would recommend for luxury reasons, make sure to purchase the W204 reface model as it's better in all ways while the pre-facelift lacks the luxury styling and look in both the outside an interior.
Not true... you can still get into the car, but are unable to start it because the key has a laser/radar in it that talks to the start/EIS/Steering lock. I know from experience because mine did not start when the key battery died.
My 220d sport had the steering lock fail and the main ECU. 2k later and just recently the abs sensor is playing up. Not a cheep car to fix lovely to drive something to bear in mind. Looking at Audi next.
my c180 seems to have this problem where i will get in and it just wont start i turn it a couple of times and then it starts before it was due to the battery completely being dead as it was factory and i got it replaced but from time to time it suddenly doesnt start otherwise its an absolute comfort to drive takes sharp bends swiftly only other issue squeaky mirrors lol

@@EEPRODUCTIONSKLB damn! so technically, this car is not a practical car at all. I have a 2014 C250 sport with 41000 miles on it now. I was trying to get rid of it fearing the expensive maintenance in the future, but all my friends suggested that it was a great car and that it wasn't going to give me any problems as long as I take care of it. I only drive about 3 to 4k miles a year. but after watching your video and hear you say "only long distances" I think that's not the car for me. I'm getting rid of it ASAP :)
I have a 08 C300 Luxury rwd, bought 4 years ago, and I can share my ownership experience so far. It doesn't matter if you use the car for short or long trips, there is going to be wear or things needing fixing no matter what. If you let it sit for a while, o rings and gaskets on the engine won't get lubrication from the engine oil, so those will begin to dry out and leak, and if you drive it, you are putting wear on the suspension and related parts (engine mounts and trans mount, sway bar links, control arms, etc.) , I guess what I'm trying to say is this car will cost you money in maintenance no matter how you treat it, so just keep that in mind. Keep the oil changed every 5k miles, (dealership will say 10k between changes but don't believe it), this car is a grand touring luxury car, so it's made for going long distances in comfort, so it doesn't like aggressive driving, and try to use quality permium gasoline for the engine. Top tier gasoline if you have it, I use Shell V Power Nitro plus almost all the time without any issues.

I would love to see it. I am a huge fan and reaserching a lot to make my next car.

This car also had a 5 speed traditional automatic gearbox which is not as modern as the 7 speed one, but less likely to break.
The 7g tronic (especially the plus) lasts a lifetime if you change the oil of it every 150k

Any issues with the timing chain?
Have you had any issues since?
One major flaw with the W204 is corrosion on the rear subframe. A lot of UK owners have been able to have their subframe replaced free of charge by Mercedes. I am in this very situation myself with my own W204 (2009 C200 Sport CDI saloon) which is booked in for a free inspection at a local dealer. I will be documenting this on my own channel. Other than that, it is a lovely car and I certainly don't regret buying it.
Yes definitely! I had the same issue, got it done for free, otherwise your going to be spending alot of money for the fix.
Mine is gonna get replaced under warranty. Rear subframes are currently on back order with no timesscales given. My video will be out later on today.
@Parknest depends on the severity, mine had actually snapped off,so was done promptly
Flak Jack Ett would you buy a used 2014 with the same mileage
Ruthless 12 street - Yes, I would. The 2014 C250 is the last year of the W204 series. It’s a big improvement and more reliable than it’s predecessor W203. Consumer Reports says a used 2014 C250 is reliable. Mine is 4 years old and I love it. No problems.

A very detailed review. I just bought one loving it
I have a 2011 w204 c300 v6 since new.
I agree witty u man. I own the C300 model 2009.had it now for 10 yes and 70k miiles

Just got a 11 c300. Loving it, seems to have a leak in the crankshaft seal. Wondering if that's an easy repair for a skilled mechanic.
I love W204 ! Especially last beast C63.
My 204 from 2013 has done 188.000 km. Still running smooth without any noise!

I'm going to buy a w204 c63 AMG this year. 100% not a financially sound decision and I'll live at the petrol station but got damn am I gonna enjoy starting it up daily.
That's the spirit, you will enjoy it. Do a good technical inspection before buying, it will safe you a potential headache.
Do it man, all cars will last if you maintain it well :). GL with it!
Thanks for sharing your real world experience with this car 🚗

How about talk about the real issues that they have other than the balance shaft. Like how the tail lamp carrier connectors get burnt out. The oil separator leaks oil, as well as cam plugs, and magnets. Check the rear Sam for water damage. Check the front headlight wires for damages. Especially the parking lamp bulbs.
The only true common issue you talked about was the balance shaft
People should take note of all that this guy has pointed out so far because these are real issues that are happening to MOST of the w204s...

Not sure about the W204 as I don't have one any longer but on my W205 it work th-cam.com/video/Ekjj9xLrYkk/w-d-xo.html

I have a W204, C300 sport, 2010 model... I feel my front suspension are worning out but I don't know if I can replace them with standard shocks or only sport suspensions
Just got 2009 W204 @67k km for my wife. Hoping all will be good
Still own it? What is your experience? Hope it is enjoyable to own and drive.
@EEPRODUCTIONSKLB Yeah. It is good. I'm looking to upgrade to the W205 now. Only had one issue that was rectified. Check engine light caused by a faulty secondary air pump. It's all good after replacing it.
My 08 c300 (manual) is great but the 2nd air pump keeps turning on the check engine light
Hi, my w204, c180 has an oil leak. Front side, somewhere in the middle, I owned a pre facelift and it had the same issue.
Is this just my luck? Both cars drive amazing. Just that leak. Any tips?
Absolute beauty ❤
Yes, it has aged well. Especially when comparing it to the new design of Mercedes.
Hi, am experiencing loss of power when driving C200 AMG avantgarde W204 year 2013, no warning light on a cluster. I bought it 2021 December it was performing super good when I get it but now on a steep it just drops drastically so,
Help is what I need so that I can know what am I dealing with...🙏🏿
tq sir...this vid helps me a lot to decide my selection..tq
Welcome 👍
God bless me with a Merc. I love this car.
I am thinking about the C 180 CGI from 2013, what is your opinion about the engine, is a 1.8 L engine with 156 hp good and has it enough power for this car? The car has only 48 k, so it seems almost new for me...
My Cdi 220 just hit 200 000 km. Still drives like a dream. No problems, low on Diesel. Magic. None of the so called problems this video talks about.
If you are a good driver u can basically drive every mercedes to 300k km
what do you mean by "try to drive long distances only" ?
Well, every distance under 10 KM / 6 miles, try to avoid using the car.
I was wondering the same thing.. we about to get a used ‘14 250sport and just use it as a weekend car . But now idk
@@aarons.6714 Thanks for the thorough explanation friend.
I was looking for a C63 coupe but found a low mileage sedan instead. By the time I decided to buy the sedan somebody beat me out for it. Still looking for a coupe. Found only one with a bad carfax so I'm still looking. He hesitates is lost.
I have a key fob issue. my w204 c300 2009 4matik
the key starts the engine but it doesn't suck it in, nor does it flick to start, I have to hold it to kick start the engine. any solution on this will be appreciated. thanks
I’m thinking about purchasing a c350 amg 2009 Mercedes Benz 190,000 miles…are these reliable? Should I purchase ?
I am Just to know the problem b4 buy it, your information usefull tq
Disappointed that no mention was given to , the M271 1.8ltr engine , having major mechanical design flaw related to failed timing chain wear and tear issues after 50k miles. Major money pit . I see the same issue on the M272 engines .
All the W204 engines seems to have issues with timing chain/guides or balance shaft?
There is a extended warranty up to 10 years or 120k miles for the camshaft adjuster problems, they will fix it for free if you get the error code.
Heeey, what about 2010-2011 c320 or c350 diesel 4matic?? What should I know about the problems?
For my first car I’m thinking of getting a 2009 c300
