The gems just didn't like having anyone around.
Also, the shadow fusion that pushed the boat to shore was one we haven't seen yet - but is represented by the temple statue.

Well, if they've been cleaning up corrupted gems this entire time, the area must have been *really* full of monsters in the past, so it might actually be dangerous in addition to them just not wanting any humans around.
So..I'm right in thinking the Crystal Gems are the oldest Beach City residents.

I think that’s okay. I mean, I didn’t really like Pearl in the earlier seasons either, but she grew with me overtime (probably because she developed more as a character)

Go back to "An Indirect Kiss" and take everything Pearl said about the vines surrounding Rose's garden (They are clingy and need someone to give them structure, etc.) and apply that to Pearl.
I know everyone is excited to see him react to epsiodes and because we know the whole show we just want to point him in the right direction. But there's a lot of spoilers in this comment section. Some people might not think it is because for them it's basic info, but put your shoes back to when we first watched the show and ask yourself if YOU knew certain details back then
Can't wait for the reaction after the next one, it's where "catch and release" and "when it rains" will be seen and those are some of the best episodes
10:00 Yup! Gems have a class system, and pearls are essentially the lowest in said system. Additionally, all gems are created and forced into their roles from day one, which means as long as Pearl can remember, she’s been forced to think little of herself and put others before her. In time Rose became the only one she continued serving, but that “less than others” mentality has stuck with her for thousands of years, so it’s not something that’ll just go away over the course of a day. A day to a gem is only like a couple minutes in the grand scheme of things anyway. Part of the context too is to tie into what society’s propaganda has said about queer people for the longest time, being less than because of identity or orientation.
So again, as Amethyst said to Garnet when she was trying to cover for Pearl, fusing with Garnet feels like their “one chance to become stronger.” For both Amethyst and Pearl, it’s their one chance to feel like more than what Homeworld’s class system has dictated they are, even if Amethyst has never left Earth as that low sense of worth is literally programmed into a gem. You’ve also gotta look at the fusions/relationships that Pearl is still able to be in at this point. Since her beloved Rose is gone, the Rainbow Quartz fusion isn’t an option anymore. Pearl & Amethyst still bicker so they aren’t quick to always go to fusing Opal, and Alexandrite can hardly function socially, so it’s a fusion exclusively used for combat. Sardonyx is Pearl’s ego, her pride to being in a relationship that Homeworld has told her she could NEVER hope to be a part of as a pearl. In that sense, Sardonyx is Pearl reminiscing on her glory days of the past when she COULD be with Rose and still form Rainbow Quartz, a relationship in which she felt empowered, unafraid, unabashed and proud to be in…just like Ruby & Sapphire are as Garnet.

I MISS THE THREE EPISODESSSS 😭 I'M NOT SATISFIED ANYMOREEEE. Amazing reaction like always tho. I love that you catch small details and actually think deep into it. I LOVE that you rewind and pause the video to express how you think or feel. You're one of the only reactors who ACTUALLY do this. I love when you do this because then I know that you are actually understanding what's happening or want to fully understand. It makes me think you are taking this seriously and actually wants to truly understand how deep this show goes. Most people just react to the surface level of the episodes so you truly don't know if the reactor even understand exactly what they're watching. You doing this causes even more excitement for your next reaction

Hol up pause, you think Pearl is secure?😂 You were laying on Pearl just a few episodes ago saying she was doing too much. Then also when Pearl and Amethyst emotionally reacted to seeing the other one fuse with Garnet you were real quick to say that they were acting jealous. Jealousy is not an emotion I'd consider one would feel if they were secure. And back to when you were saying Pearl was doing too much. Well when someone is doing too much usually its due to trauma and she definitely has a lot of that. My first watch through I couldn't stand Pearl because she reminded me too much of my younger self just trying not to let anyone see or know that Im hurting which let to bad or cringy decisions. But its cool though that you picked up on the whole "just a Pearl" part but its just the freakin beginning to understanding Pearl 😩

The giant lady in the play was actually the temple fusion that's holding Steven's house, but I won't say her name because it isn't mentioned in the show yet. Basically it's Alexandrite+Rose Quartz.
The fusion that appeared in the play as a silhouette is actually the temple statue. NOT Alexandrite.

Hi. I’m reasonably told that the shadow fusion was that of Pearl garnet amethyst and rose quartz; known as Obsidian. One we haven’t seen and probably won’t, due to reasons.
I was actually quite confused as to how they could just make up over that convo they had. I think i get it now after watching it multiple times. I was confused about why it had anything to do with Garnet cheering Pearl on to be her own gem.
I think Garnet was trying to supportively say, 'you can't have wanted to fuse with us so badly over the fact that you think that you as a gem alone is not enough. And if that's what you truly think, then I will remind you that you are ENOUGH as a gem singularly, even when you're not fused. You are amazing as you are, because even if I am a fusion, i still look to you for strength and that strength has nothing to do with who is fusion and who isn't. There's no hierarchy here indicating that fused gems are better than the others who are not. '

Fusion only had one purpose in Homeworld society, and that was to be used as weapons during times of conflict. however, could only occur between the same types of Gems, such as two or more Rubies. Cross-Gem fusions, such as a Ruby and a Sapphire, were considered disgraceful and always resulted in a punishment.

So many of these comments are filled with details that may seem tiny to them because they've already watched the show but the show hasn't fully revealed it to him yet. I think it really ruins the experience because that slow building up on things is what makes the show great. Like you're suppose to be uncertain about things and then it finally clicks when the show reveals it.
( I am not talking about pearl being a servant. even things like gem lore, or corruption. )

For those who think saying Pearl is a servant is a "spoiler" and taking down each other's comments, she literally mentioned in this episode that she's useless on her own and needs someone to tell her what to do. If not enough, Pearls aren't gemstones in reality even outside of Steven universe, just accessories. It was already revealed beforehand.
Ep14 was the first episode of Steven Universe I saw.

Sapphires are members of nobility and advisors to the Diamonds, Rubies are the lowest tier foot soldier/bodyguard, Amethysts are (normally) higher tier soldiers, Pearls are attendants and butlers (possibly bodyguards). Peridots seem to be tech support. Lapis..es are used to get the planet ready for gem growing.

Pearl is such an under appreciated character i love her so much. I will say if you think something in this show has gay undertones, you’re more than likely correct lol. You will understand Pearl’s character and the way she is more as the series progresses. Her character development is one of my favorites.

i dont know if anyone told you yet but after you finish season 5 which will take a bit cuz ur still on season 2 but there is a season 6 and a movie so after u finish season 5 the movie is before season 6 so it will be a bit confusing watching season 5 and then season 6 without the movie but the order is season 1-5 then the movie then season 6

Every gem has their missions, ruby protect other gems,for example, pearls are assistents
Pearl = Servant/Assistant never leaves side of 'owner'
Quartz/Amethyst/Jasper/Agate = Generals/Supervisors
Lapis/Peridot = Specialized Taskwork
Ruby/Citrine/Topaz = Guards ( more useful when fused)
Sapphire = Advisors ( can see possible outcomes of actions)
Diamond = Royalty
Bishmuth = Construction/Manufacturing

Pearls on homeworld are more supposed to be like...personal assistants, but make it property? I hesitate to specifically compare them to slaves because all gems are essentially slaves to the diamonds, but only high-ranking gems were assigned pearls & their purpose was more or less to just sit there and look pretty until you needed them to do something, then they did it without question.
There's hierarchy in Gem society, and Pearls are no knights nor fighters, they might be considered a luxury but they are at the bottom of the barrel. Every gem is made to serve a function or play a predesignated role or task, and Pearls are made to be servants, and they can't voice their opinion so they are less than assistants, so more of a buttler.

A ruby is a bodyguard, a sapphire is used only for their abilities to see the future. They all serve somebody but pearls are the main servants- if they want something they ask a pearl, if they need an assistant they ask their pearl, pearls are always around for orders and such

id say a ruby is more like a guard while jaspers and amethysts are like knight/military units

Yeah so each Gem is made for a purpose, Amethyst is a warrior/army force, garnet is technically an illegal Gem but Ruby is a guard and saphire is a future teller. I wouldnt really call pearl a knight, thats just what our pearl decided to be in choice of her own will but you are right that pearls are meant to serve.

Garnets are not fusions there are only three garnets hessonites demantoids and pyropes their purpose was commanding fleets, armies and colonies.

Pearl didn’t deserve to be forgiven. She’s so snarky and arrogant thinking things should revolve around her. Since fusion for garnet(ruby and sapphire) it’s very personal for them. The whole making up think was forced at first although I’ll give them credit it spanned a couple of episodes.
In my opinion it was quite natural pearl recognised her mistake and ensured that she would only fuse i f garnet was okay with it.^
