Final TIMELAPSE | Container home on wheels (part 2)

- LOOK INSIDE! We FINISHED converting a 20FT SHIPPING CONTAINER into a TINY HOUSE ON WHEELS. In this TIMELAPSE video filled with AMAZING SMART IDEAS with RELAXING MUSIC and almost NO TALKING we show and explain you the completion of our build. A total of 18 months DIY, from start to finish, has been compacted into about 25 minutes and 2 videos.
The base truck for our home on wheels is a Mercedes Benz Atego 1218 from the year 2011.

Yes, we can take it off and live in it. We need a connection to fresh water and sewage. Oh and a ground-pin. We might do that someday, when we get bored with travel and find a nice plot of land.

Yeah, it is not cheap, you are right. Not being able to have kids helps and making choices where to put the money did the rest. 👍

Surely you can ask, thanks for you question! The reason for the rooftop tents is that we (plan to) live in Ugly and it will also serve as a Hotel on Wheels. So people can rent a place to stay with us and sleep in the rooftop tents. Especially for cyclists is the idea.

Yeah, a container build with IKEA, I also thought it would not go well. But all is good so far. And it will be easy to replace 👍😄.

Good part two video. Now living with Ugly for a few month's have you got a long or short list of items to modify.
You are right, always things that need improving. Solar panel setup can be more efficient. And we need a flyscreen in the side door as well. But all in all we are quite happy with the results.
We will make a video on learnings and further improvements. Thanks for the tips!

The supports are part of the IKEA kitchen range. I would expect you would be able to get it at IKEA.

@romanomaximo6649 there might be a bit of movement (I have not filmed during driving) but we added some connections and screws. Untill now we do not see any loose cupboards or askew doors. Hope this helps! ❤️👍

How much cost to keeping this truck? Only keep, without fueling, and toll. (I think insurance and same other costs in NL for upkeep a truck).
How you solved grey watertank and tubes from bath?

That is such a nice comment! Thank you ❤️👍. To keep the truck on the road we have road tax and insurance. About 3000 euros per year. For maintenance between 1000 and 2000 euro.
Gray watertank we have an outlet. We can dump it at special stations or where we would like 🤷🫣.
No, I am not in transport, but I studied logistics and used to live in Rotterdam (container capital of Europe 😄).
@@uglysjourney thanks. In my country, same truck upkeep (insurance and other costs) are 2500-300 EUR / year.
Plus toll, plus fuel, plus repair if need.
I think, the bigger cost is insurance... :/

From 2022 jan to 2023 mar I was fleetmanager in bus firm, from 2023 mar to 2024 febr I was dispatcher in a small transport firm. Now Im search my new job and continous dreaming for my RV. In Hungary not a simple and easy country for buy and upkeep RVs, the payments enough to living, not more.
I sent my CV over 40 firms in HU, and I get more more "no thanks" messages...
I have knowledge (without schools) and I can't use anywhere... Its a hard mode of living.
I sent mail to you in a few months ago, where I write the toll of hungarian roads and a few points to look, if you want to see around in my country.

Would a "murphy" bed work on a build like this?
Yeah, I think it could work. I choose storage below the bed, so you would not have that with a Murphy bed. Or you could create another bed on the location where I put the sofa's.
