Dude!! All I can say is.. WOW!. 40 years in the building trades. I’ve seen and worked on a lot of high-end projects. I’ve also done architectural millwork and finishing, electrical, machine and tool repair, electrical and electronics… musician, mixing consoles, live and studio engineering, it goes on and on. All my years there are a number of things that have stood out… This has been added to that list. And not just this, but the fact you’re enjoying what I imagine is your retirement.. Well done. Well done 👍
The best thing is that it does not look like a big gaudy RV --- He could street park in areas and everyone would assume it is a delivery truck waiting for morning deliveries... Awesome !!!!!!
You are right: that view is AWESOME. I never thought of this before this video, but what if the police don't like that he is there, or he gets pulled over: there are many stories here on YT of having vehicles confiscated/towed... it is bad enough if it is your car, but in his case, it is his home. And I don't think the "if you don't want trouble from the police, don't break the law" is a valid argument in 2024... Also, the police seem to be more willing/able to find excuses to search vehicles much more easily than homes. However, depending on the state, it might be a risk no matter if you live in something like this or a house. (not trying to start a fight: just curious what others think...)
It really feels like a nice little apartment inside, not a truck. He did a great job! Living on the beach like that would be heaven! I also like the idea of the side of the truck being a movie screen at night, that's brilliant!

It truly is one of the best i have ever seen for a great cost. But if you have never lived in a vehicle there are some issues that most people cant get over. I did it for a year to save money to travel. The big one is parking. It can be a super drag, depending what city/area you are in to find a place to sleep at night where you dont have to worry about crime or nosey neighbours. The moving around gets to a lot of people.
@@krimpoo As someone who's been a nomad for 13 years it takes a certain type of personality, minimalist, loner (not to be confused with anti-social, just self sufficient and not needing a large group of friends/family near at all times). As with all things there's good and bad, I am an urban nomad with a stealth Ford cargo van, zero problems with police or businesses running me off but have had 4 attempts of people trying to steal my catalytic converter, twice in Biloxi, MS, once in Garland TX, once in Irving TX, it's what happens when they don't know someone is inside. I bought a welder and cut up some bed frames found on the side of the road, welded the pieces to my exhaust system (resembles a dragons tail now) and no attempts for 3 years now. The only thing about this build that I'm not a fan of is that he has no direct access to the cab, if someone wants to steal the truck there's little he can do except go along for the ride.
Yeah, wonder what he does for a 'living'? But seems competent in a multitude of trades, i.e. electrical, mechanical, carpentry to name just a few! But his attention to detail and function as well as to the aesthetics, is definitely what set this build apart!
There ar 4 floor storage bins inside. The one under the flip up table is for tool storage. The one by the door is deep and holds 2 guitar amps for the outside theater and mixing board. The outside floor drawers are 8' long. + a small one for sunscreen, surf wax, and extra fins.
Not only an impressive build, but the fact that he did it all for just $65K. With all the features, It looks like it should have cost 2-3 times that much.
Yeah, exactly.. I'm sure it was equivalent...$65K in materials....But to hire someone with his expertise and technical skills to build would I'd wager add $65K x 2 - 3

He didn't say it's finished. He's finished. He is old and tired. At the end of his strength. It is good enough At the end there he says if the truck is lost, then he's living in a tent, not gonna build another one.
I lied. Just added a second stereo over my bed, Added a 28 ' tall cell booster antenna. And a few other small things. It does work perfect for what it was designed to do. I do not like building anymore. I'm to old for another 9 month build.
That is the most efficient and beautiful box truck I’ve ever seen. He did an amazing job in the building specs, construction and actual design and the storage is over the top. I’ve never seen anything like it and the fact that he can park it on the beach and live there for six months is just the cherry on top.
I met Scott on this beach 3 years ago on this beach and his truck is amazing! It's so well thought out and he gave me a tour. There is so much storage and it is very nice and comfortable inside. Scott is a friendly guy and if you see him on the beach say hi.
I was wondering why it looks so roomy inside, compared to others. Then, he clears it up: no overhead storage. Brilliant! The design is less coffin-like, too.
Scott you created a magnificent home. I cannot imagine one single thing you overlooked. IT is incredible actually and a warm lovely and convenient home. I loved it. And your ingenuity throughout the build shows, Gold Star Workmanship. Thank you for sharing this wonderful home. Congrats on the work done, ideas, innovations and in the end, homieness and comfort. I've seen a hell of a lot of these builds on TH-cam over the years, my favourite lunchtime videos, and I can say without a doubt - this is easily the best one I've ever seen. Some of these homes on wheels I couldn't see myself living in. This one, absolutely 0 complaints.
I can tell you, I've watched thousands of these build videos, from manufacturers to diy, and diy turned professional. I also regularly complain about the high-cost and cookie-cutter design of builds. I've seen people living in Teslas, a student who managed a BATH (beautifully done) in a car the size of a Subaru, studied Sam Shapiro's vision for the modular approach to conversion, etc. I'm sure you understand the point. This build solves every pet peeve I have. I thought I might have caught him on a safety issue, as the box cannot access the cab, which is a serious fire hazard in the back. But his shower hatch window offers escape :) Just a gorgeous and brilliant design, altogether. The electric system is pristine. Those windows! This build is a huge "Wow!" Please come back and let us know what your students think :)
This is a brilliant design for his use. It's got everything you could need for a wonderful time at the beach. His grandson must LOVE beach camping with grandpa!
Genius design. From the power system, to the storage areas, to an actual washer (which you hardly ever see in these builds). This is what I want to do some day.
Every detail of this build is fantastic and so carefully considered. He’s tailored this perfectly to his needs, with maximum efficiency. Retirement goals for sure.
I wish to say that this is possibly the best demonstration of practical thinking resulting in a highly liveable tiny home, that I have ever seen. He can park that rig anywhere. There is a drawback. It’s only for warm climes. Other than that it’s brilliant. It’s loaded with great features that I have not seen anywhere else like the underfloor storage. Why didn’t I think of that??
I have a feeling you are an engineer or similar by trade. The ability to plan so well before building is impressive! did you use software that let you model it to get an idea? Did you make changes after starting certain things? because if it nailed it on the first go, thats even more amazing.@@scotttwapple

Ummm this is a freakin masterpiece! I love how he thought of a space for everything and it provides all the needs of a normal home! Absolutely beautiful!
Back in 2014 when I was watching tons of tiny house/van living videos, I thought about why not use one of those moving trucks. It's cool to see someone do it.
WOW, I''ve been looking at special builds for years, but Scott you are pretty amazing. You've got more tricks up your sleeve than a Las Vegas Magician! Great work/design! Great video!
I used to drive that exact same setup box truck for work. They are ugly as sin, but are reliable, simple to drive, easy on fuel, and plenty of room in the box. I like this better than a van personally. Nice build!
That is absolute brilliance. The only thing I would change is that little "window" AC unit. A mini-split AC would be much better. Then again, I live in Florida where it would be very important. Maybe he doesn't even use it that much where he lives.
I would like to install a couple at my house so I don't have to run my central unit all the time. I don't need to cool my hole house. At night, just the master bedroom. Truth is, 5 years ago the selection of small mini splits was not like it is today. The only place I can put the outside compressor on my RV is on the back porch. I use that area for bike and chair storage. There are many advantages of a 5,000 BTU window unit. One 450 watt unit ( ducted vertical and in the center) in my well insulated RV cools it down 20 degrees for only an average of 450 watts. It is very reliable, simple, takes up no outside space, very little inside space, and if it breaks down on the road I can pop into any Walmart (or amazon) and pick one up immediately for $140. And install it in less than one hour. My 2nd Unit has only been used a few times when I wanted to cool down real fast. And it is my own spare AC. Since it is on the floor, blows air sideways and is at one end of the RV it does not work well by itself. If I built another truck today, I would probably stick with the same simple (analog knobs) bullet proof 5,000 BTU $140 Medea window unit. AC for $140 is hard to beat. 5 years and still working perfect. California is a lot milder that Florida.
With a brain and skills like that I’m willing to bet Scott is a very wealthy man who likes to live humbly. Everything is thought out and has a great function. No wasted movement.
@NomadSupreme911 I agree. Maybe he could work in an educational capacity teaching junior high and high school kids a trade. More and more kids are not attending college and/or University.
This is the best mobile home ever. You just created an efficiency apartment fully decked out and with transportation all for under $100,000 now thats amazing
It's because RV "designers" don't have a clue what RV living people want or need. They've never been in a RV, and don't intend to. They just got their designer papers and they want to show off.
Same deal for me with cargo vans. A friend did a similar type build to one of those, although not to the level here. I was blown away at how well he used space, how much was in there and how livable it was. Seemed much bigger on the inside than the outside.

Probably the only box truck that I would consider living in. I like the wide open feel and getting the air in through the windows. Toilet set-up is best I've seen.
Going to switch to a electric boat toilet. My guests are lame.
Awesome !!!!!!
nah you cant park huge box trucks anywhere
Plus people will know. When they see you come out of a closed roll up door out back and walk to the cab an leave.
wow to think that the nearby houses are going for millions and he's probably even closer to the beach than them 😄
And can drive away if he needed to for his safety
And when the cliffs collapse he can just drive away!
@@gotflute123 He knows where he can and can't park, and why would it be towed or confiscated?
The way they're 'sliding' they'll be in 'his' backyard😂
Absolute genius. This gentleman has raised the bar on space efficiency…and ergonomic design. Excellent job sir. Just WOW!!! 🙌🏽🙏🏽
This is on of the most comfortable designs i have seen. Floor storage opens up head space and feels more like house than RV. Really like it.
It really feels like a nice little apartment inside, not a truck. He did a great job! Living on the beach like that would be heaven! I also like the idea of the side of the truck being a movie screen at night, that's brilliant!
“What a beautiful tiny house-truck. I could definitely live in this. I’m secretly a little jealous because you’re traveling in a way I don’t have the courage for. Hats off!
Be happy
You're actually envious, not jealous.
My surf crew met him at San O while surfing. Cool truck. Friendly guy, pleased to meet and know him.
I pray that he lives a long, healthy life in his Box-truck tiny house ❤
He doesn't live in it, he just uses it instead of an RV.
That part about leaving the 9old light in there shows how smart this dude is.
That is more luxurious and more spacious than most luxury RV's for a fraction of the cost literally. I love it!!
and better built!
I was surprised by the $65k. And I'm in "cheap" cincinnati.
This is without a doubt the cleanest and best set up I have ever seen in my life.
100% solar.
Made use of every possible square inch.
Movie screen to share with his neighbors.
Amazing!
Dare you to walk around living in the back for a whole day while he's driving the whole time.
The back door and windows are a chef's kiss design. So beautiful and functional.
You can tell how smart he is immediately
Yes, I was amazed at his intelligence and creativity.
Very smart
Yeah, wonder what he does for a 'living'? But seems competent in a multitude of trades, i.e. electrical, mechanical, carpentry to name just a few! But his attention to detail and function as well as to the aesthetics, is definitely what set this build apart!
I didn't catch on to that immediately because heck, I'm not very smart at all.
Best tiny home I’ve ever seen!!!the immaculate design and functionality is incredible!!you are a very intelligent man👍🏽
WOW! IMPRESSIVE! COMFORTABLE! Everything you need. Thank you for the tour.
Floor storage is brilliant , so cabinet doors don’t fling open and centres the weight, best design I’ve seen🎉
It would be more $$$ when sold, he is talking about the actual cost of construction. Dont confuse cost and price.
By far THE BEST small home I’ve EVER SEEN! I hope this guy is generous enough to share the blueprints so others like myself can potentially build this for themselves.
Same
My design is very exact to the box dimensions and the Morgan FRP box. And they are all different. Any builder can copy my build by the video and hopefully custom tailor it to their needs.
You know it's a GREAT design when the tiny home dweller declares it finished, complete, done, and nothing to add!
He didn't say it's finished. He's finished. He is old and tired. At the end of his strength. It is good enough
At the end there he says if the truck is lost, then he's living in a tent, not gonna build another one.
I lied. Just added a second stereo over my bed, Added a 28 ' tall cell booster antenna. And a few other small things. It does work perfect for what it was designed to do. I do not like building anymore. I'm to old for another 9 month build.
That build is absolutely perfect for him. Tailored to get the most out of his lifestyle. Amazing and ingenious.
I could adopt it as is no problem and I don't surf.
U should see me live in my 95 honda civix
Thats a term I use often. I want to be able to sit up fully in bed.
Disgustingly cool. And I mean that in the best of ways. He has thought of just everything. It looks very efficient and cozy.
Love your comment! I wholeheartedly agree😊
did he say that there was A WASHER under the sofa 🤦♀️ I’m in love 😂🤣
He skipped over that pretty quickly. I wish he had shown it better.@@ej3016
I am too, with the build and his style!
Hello how are you doing today 😊
I'm blown away by this design! Surfers and sailors are just a different breed of people in all the best ways!
Superb!
Thank you.
This is by far the coolest conversion ever, you are so smart, you have everything you need, it's beautiful and brilliant!! Nice job, stay safe, God bless
Probably the most livable "mobile home". I've ever seen. Well done!
i love human ingenuity and creativity, what a clever man! Scott's construction of his summer mobile home is absolutely amazing and he shows his design with considered thought and precision...i love that he has made it specifically for him but it can be adapted for his family too...nothing short of breath-taking and spectacular!
This would have to be the most well thought out, versatile and comfortable self contained RV I have ever seen. Well done that man!
I've seen a hell of a lot of these builds on TH-cam over the years, my favourite lunchtime videos, and I can say without a doubt - this is easily the best one I've ever seen. Some of these homes on wheels I couldn't see myself living in. This one, absolutely 0 complaints.
I'm a professor of Architecture in Boston and I am showing this to both my design and furniture classes this week. Awesome job!
I designed a tiny house in High School Architecture in the 70's. I was ahead of my time. My teacher was not impressed.
Seriously dude, one of the best tiny house designs I've seen.
Very cool. He's got it figured out. Good for him. Also good for inspiring others and showing a solid alternative.
Anything beats being stuck in a senior home! I love you get to live your best life and you thought every detail out!
This guy knew what he wanted and built it. Very nice!
Wow, so carefully thought out. And raising the floor for storage underneath was pure genius. Great job, Scott!
When you lift it up that floor panel and show that pantry I was thoroughly over impressed❤❤
People spend millions of dollars to have a home near beach and you have the best view near the beach. You are a genius. Well done.
Most beautiful rig. Dude enjoying life at the fullest. U have it all. Enjoy every moment and young enough to still enjoy surfing!
The thought and construction that went into this is amazing. It is brilliant.
Those who have the cash and then those who don't. Better to store your treasure in The Kingdom of God.
@@domenicv7962While that is very true, we all need a place to live until Christ's return
I will call it a 3 season Vehicle. I prefer not to be. Thats why its on wheels. Add a diesel heater. It would be 4 season. It is very well insulated.
I have a feeling you are an engineer or similar by trade. The ability to plan so well before building is impressive! did you use software that let you model it to get an idea? Did you make changes after starting certain things? because if it nailed it on the first go, thats even more amazing.@@scotttwapple
@@scotttwapple yeah he mentions that it does have a fitting for a diesel heater at 3:17 But something tells me that a lifelong resident of California is not about to change up and enjoy cold weather elsewhere :) ..but hey, who knows?
@@scotttwapple
He did an awesome job with that truck, clean, organized, fully equipped and beautiful. He has a lot of “know how” concerning all the details. He’s definitely living his best life, God bless him.
SERIOUSLY awesome!! As a San Diego native, I can see why you built this! LOVE it!
Ummm this is a freakin masterpiece! I love how he thought of a space for everything and it provides all the needs of a normal home! Absolutely beautiful!
I couldn't stop saying "WOW" the entire time I was watching this. This man is incredibly amazing 😶What else is there to say, genius 🤯
Back in 2014 when I was watching tons of tiny house/van living videos, I thought about why not use one of those moving trucks. It's cool to see someone do it.
I love how he has the guitar etc. In glass and the glass in the bathroom door. The under floor storage is awesome.
Sweet! This has got to be the BEST converted box truck I've ever seen. Thank you ever so much for sharing these incredibly informative videos.
This is easily the best designed and finished standard of box truck conversion I have yet seen, beautifully done
WOW, I''ve been looking at special builds for years, but Scott you are pretty amazing. You've got more tricks up your sleeve than a Las Vegas Magician! Great work/design! Great video!
Man, this is by far the best set up I've ever seen. And to have never been plugged in, WOW! 😮
This guy is a genius. Well thought out, beautifully designed, functional use of space.
Wonder if he was an engineer?
WOW! This man should win all kinds of awards for incredible creativity and use of space. Wishing him a continued happy, healthy life.😊
Incredibly well done. Smartest use of space I've ever seen. This guy is a design master.
I've watched hundreds of RV & van life videos. This build is my favorite by far!
This has to be one of the smartest setups if seen so far. floor storage is so brilliant. Incredible build!!
You win, Scott. So much POWER!
A revelation.... incredible ingenuity...floor storage/no overhead cabinets...well thought out.... one of the best van/box truck videos I've seen.
I used to drive that exact same setup box truck for work. They are ugly as sin, but are reliable, simple to drive, easy on fuel, and plenty of room in the box. I like this better than a van personally. Nice build!
Get a Hino made by Toyota.
Super reliable.
Bit of an eyesore having a boxtruck at the beach but he doesn't care because he's in it 😂
Dewey Webber tee shirt = legit, old-school surfer. I still have mine (from the 60s) somewhere. Fabulous rig… Life is good! 🤙🏼
On the beach in socal we rarely need ac.
THIS is the best designed, most open-feeling rig I've ever seen. Excellent job.
With a brain and skills like that I’m willing to bet Scott is a very wealthy man who likes to live humbly.
Everything is thought out and has a great function. No wasted movement.
This is by far the best Ive seen...so minimal, simple, but very functional...love it!
The floor pantry with sliders is absolutely amazing! Very impressive, as is the whole build.
The microwave under the bed is the one thing I couldn't live with, but the rest is amazing, even has a washing machine. Love it! 👍👍
I guess it depends how much you microwave stuff but yeah, it isn't very practical there but was probably the only place it would fit.
If it results in a worthwhile space benefit, I'd happily live with it.
Beats no microwave every time.
It is the only place it would fit. It is only one step from the kitchen. It does seem to bother some people. Not me.
Well, thank God it’s not your problem since this tiny home has zero to do with you
@@michaelax3025 You realize the TH-cam comments section is for making comments right? Why so triggered?

@NomadSupreme911
I agree. Maybe he could work in an educational capacity teaching junior high and high school kids a trade.
More and more kids are not attending college and/or University.
You make him vice president
This is the best mobile home ever. You just created an efficiency apartment fully decked out and with transportation all for under $100,000 now thats amazing
the attention to detail is far better than most "professional" RVs
I agree he could make a career designing RVs or mobile housing units.
It's because RV "designers" don't have a clue what RV living people want or need. They've never been in a RV, and don't intend to. They just got their designer papers and they want to show off.
@@olisk-jy9rzSo true!
I’ll never look at a box truck the same awesome job!
Same deal for me with cargo vans. A friend did a similar type build to one of those, although not to the level here. I was blown away at how well he used space, how much was in there and how livable it was. Seemed much bigger on the inside than the outside.
Clever guy! This looks like a beautiful luxury beach condo without the huge investment & taxes. Love the layout, hidden floor storage & colors.
This is the way to have a Happy Retirement. 🏄♂ & 🚐
RV manufacturers should have a conversation with you. You know what we really need.
I think I'm in love. I don't know if it's with his design skills or the truck itself, but I am in love.
Love this build! So clean in the way that everything is purposeful and tucked away. The lack of overhead storage creates so much more headroom, an absolutely brilliant use of the floor plan. Paired with the stealth factor! Amazing.
