Just a few (long) weeks ago, President Joe Biden was still running for re-election, grappling with persistently negative national polling. One major concern for Democrats-and a source of surprise and delight for Republicans-was the apparent shift of young Black male voters towards former President Donald Trump. This will-they-won’t-they question dominated the summer, culminating at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee at the end of July: Could Trump make significant inroads into a voting bloc that traditionally supported Democrats?
That narrative shifted dramatically with the entry of Vice President Kamala Harris into the race. Suddenly, a much higher percentage of Black voters told pollsters of their intent to vote, a big increase from July when Biden was still on the ticket.
When the Mother Jones team reported from the RNC last month, Video Correspondent ‪@GarrisonHayes‬ was on a mission to unravel these complex cross-currents of identity, policy, and political strategy. "I learned a lot about Black Republicans during these conversations-their motivations, their stories, their goals," Hayes says in a new, indepth video showcasing several substantive interviews with Black convention attendees. “I wanted to know what draws a black person to identify with this Republican party.”
Hayes uncovered old-school appeals to rugged individualism (with elements of historical revisionism), traditional anti-abortion viewpoints, and a rejection of government interventions. Ultimately, Hayes concluded that-for a party that so openly courts racists and racism enablers-having more Black people in the ranks could be, surprisingly, beneficial. "The only way the Republican Party becomes this ideologically conservative but racially inclusive big tent party,” Garrison says, “is if there is a fundamental rejection of the people, policies, and practices they currently hold as sacred in their political vision.”

Thank you for exploring this! I suggest highlighting that the #1 group to use & benefit from Affirmative Action & DEI policies has been white women, though Blacks have been made the face of these. This is almost never mentioned.
Also, that the Rep-Dem platform switched under the Southern Strategy, explaining why David Duke, Don Black & Metzger don't identify as, vote for or endorse today's Democrat party.
Lastly, being a Black conservative today isn't like being gay in the 50s because only one of these could & still can get you killed.
Don King is a primary link between 45, Black entertainers & athletes, and Black male (often post-street life) conservatives ("rugged individualism").

The evangelical churches have become a horrific fasc1st movement in Brasil. Karma or not, I live in front of one of those churches here in Portugal. Many immigrants attend this church, leave their money there, while the pastors drive Porsches. My support as a latino woman for those who know who they are and where they came from.

I haven't watched the whole clip yet, but:
You should listen to the "Jesse Peterson Show" or watch his TH-cam show "The Fallen State".
      At first you'll think it's a comedy/parody. But he's 100% serious.
He grew up on a plantation in Alabama, under Jim Crow Laws. He also states that Black people were better off then, because they had intact families, values (good Christians), ran their own businesses etc. etc.
He's the ultimate Trump supporter. Calling him "The Great White Hope" (like boxers back in the days). Is calling Obama "The Fallen Messiah" and Michelle "Big Momma" or Michel.
When his interview partners didn't know him/researched him, it was insanely funny to see their jaws drop. Today many people already know him. So the "WTF moments" are getting less. But it's still amazing comedy.
Of course I'm not in line with JLP's political or religious views. But he dares to speak out facts, without instantly getting called a racist ("I'm Black as the ace of spades!").
There once was a channel named "Get A Job", who put together best-off clips of his show. Since the channel got closed, I don't watch him anymore like before. Because I don't want to go through four hours of his daily radio show. But I still watch "The Fallen State" from time to time.
What makes it even more funny is that he's living the life of a closet homosexual (like so many other preachers/pastor/reverends in the US). You can check out the exposing clio on my channel. He's deleting them on a regular basis.
Well, that's about it. Check out the "amaaazin'" (one of his catchphrases) Jesse Lee Peterson!

Wanna know what's really going on? The devil and dragon -- Revelation 12: 12-13 -- remain on Earth, and their judgement has been set for 10/10/26*. They intend to absolve themselves of blame, by proving Mankind unfit for God's kingdom with a worldwide nuclear war. "After all," the devil argues, "Jesus, HIMSELF, tried to teach these beasts to love one another, 1,994 years ago -- almost two full days in Heaven. Surely, the Ancient of Days will judge Man at fault. Or Jesus. Not Me."
2 Peter 3: 8 Matthew 5: 44-48. The devil is delusional -- Daniel 7: 9-14 -- but OVER 93% of men and women are nearly deaf and blind spiritually. As in the days of Noah.
      * 10/10/26 is 42 new moons SOONER than the Vernal Equinox of 2030, which marks the BEGINNING of the third, 1000-year Days of Heaven, since Jesus was crucified in 30 AD, It brings the fulfillment of the resurrection. It is NOT the 2nd Coming in the flesh. John 16: 7-15.

Yet black crime was down back then because black people had fathers to look up to. Now black men abandon their wives and a bunch of kids are left on the street. They get into gangs and the process repeats (not for everyone I know). Now instead of Jim Crow...they terrorize themselves. This isnt a Donald Trumo or Republican issue. This is a cultural issue. The Democrats do not care, they just want your vote And will say whatever to get your vote. They will promise to "save" you, but they won't. Black people don't need to be saved by the left.

My school district in N. Texas was segregated until 1972, when they finally were forced to accept black students. The "authorities" tried to sabotage integration by forced bussing of black students to our schools, so the black students spent an extra hour or more on a bus, then they were patted down and searched as they stepped off the bus. Their plastic afro combs were confiscated, and called "weapons".🙄
It backfired, as most students liked having new students who shared great music and cool fashions with us. I got rid of my Archies and Partridge Family records once I heard Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, Funkadelic and many other great artists.
Some kids remained hateful bullies, but that's what they chose, and they were already mean little a-holes. I was bullied because I was shy and wore thick glasses. In middle school, I made friends with kids who knew how to handle bullies, and they taught ME how to grow a spine!😃
I'll do all I can to return that favor by standing with my brothers and sisters of all colors.
I had to leave Texas, forever, in 2001 because of the gun violence, the racial hatred, and a public school system that broke the law and tried to force religion on my son, by teaching him that Evolution is a "lie".
The last straw was the murder and torture of James Byrd. I heard my "fellow Texans" joke about the murder of that innocent black grandfather and decided I could not live in such a place anymore.
I took my little boy and our two cats and drove to the Left Coast! I love living in SoCal. Nobody cares what restroom we use, because they are mostly universal, non-gender... at least the "one-holers" are! Problem solved!

There were two placed known as Black Wallstreet. Actually, there were more, but these two are most known. Yes, White people burned Tulsa Black Wallstreet down. The part where he says, it was rebuilt and they put a highway through it is referring to the second Black Wallstreet located in Durham NC's Haiti community. Recognized by WEB De Bois. It hosted over 200 Black owned business, one of which, was the first Black owned Life Insurance Co, NC Mutual. This is a great example of a young man equipped with bits and pieces of a story trying to make his own history. He was referring to Tulsa, but it was Durham's Walstreet that they built a highway through. North Carolina Central University was a part of it. It had it's own hospital, and banks. It had everything, but that didn't mean folks were better off. Some Blacks certainly were better off and thrived as a result. Most folks lived in poorer rural areas and struggled during Jim Crow just as most of Black America. BTW.... the mega wealthy Duke family funded Haiti's Black hospital and donated land for NC Mutual Life Insurance. It is rumored, that Mr. Duke had a black child, not sure if that was true or not.

Black people benefitted from BLACK COMMUNITY more during those days than they do now, but it wasn't the end of Jim Crow that created today's situation. A lot of it was "urban renewal and "gentrification" which destroyed most "Portertowns" on my side of the Mississippi at least, those are the only ones I know about and only a few on a personal level, but I saw the disintegration of communities and the casting out of families into a diaspora in their own country, families separated with no multigenerational home ownership, kids going to the same schools their parents did etc.

Circling back to why I capitalized "massacre"; the city is STILL looking for, and finding, graves of people murdered by the white mob. It was not a riot, it was a massacre. There were even reports of planes dropping firebombs. And this guy said "policies".

I am disappointed with this video. Instead of actually taking a neutral approach and trying to understand this interesting community of people, you took the time to argue with them and take a stance of false interview and false neutrality. This is not how you talk to people.
I would enjoy a video (and was expecting this one to be one) where the producer actually dives in to these communities of people. Unfortunately, the more the video progresses, the more it becomes clearly biased. You seem to be surprised at how/why these people exist, and you are just looking to prove them wrong, and attribute them to your group, causing a greater racial divide in our country.
I am furthermore dissapointed with the comment section. Everyone seems to be blindly agreeing to the video, and have little to no actual opinions of their own. You ignore the fact that Black people are getting shot, incarcerated, and killed at a very high rate every day in Black communities and think that liberal policies are helping. What a disregard!
Both this video and the comments are shameful. I hope one day more people will wake up.

For some reason, the recurring talking point Republicans would run with is: “Remember, we were the party that ended slavery. Democrats were pro-slavery, pro-Jim Crow,” but they forget that political parties are just systems. Political parties in themselves are not indications of ideologies: they’re just empty vessels for them, much like banks, policing, policy, etc...
So, when the pastor mentioned that the Democrats were pro-slavery, he conveniently left out WHOM amongst them was pro-slavery. And that would be, overwhelmingly, racist white people. Who were supporters of Jim Crow? Again, racist white people.
White supremacy is an ideology: a belief system. It exists beyond the realm of politics and political systems. Ideology follows the path of least resistance, which is why far-right ideology finds a home among the republican party today, to influence policy. It’s the same reason progressive ideals have found a home among Democrats.
The Civil Rights Act of 1964 shows us this start ideological line in clear detail when 5 Deep South states voted for Goldwater, a Republican, for the first time since RECONSTRUCTION. Goldwater voted AGAINST the Civil Rights Act because Goldwater was what we’d call a libertarian today.
White supremacy does not vote red or blue, it votes for white supremacy.

It’s like they don’t understand that they switch party lines but a group of raises white people could not switch party lines. Races can be known and identify clearly by the ideologies the way do you think the way they speak the way they talk. It is something that is identifiable in many cases so it doesn’t matter what they call themselves as a party line or religion. We will notice them and we know the biggest group of them for political reasons switched over to being republican so was a false equivalency to say where they were democrat because at the end of the day they still were people in the Dixie South and those Dixie South people ideologies have moved over to Republic party and have spread it. We all know this. These Black people know this but they serve white districts and white people don’t know this because they have been willfully ignorant or their parents have kept history away from them..

I’ve seen the same discrimination in hiring, but the problem with DEI is that it’s so broadly inclusive that African-American men get no benefit and AA women perhaps get marginal benefit. Yet, Black Americans get 100% of the backlash against DEI.

The problem with DEI is that like with everything else that SHOULD be good, it's been turned around and used incorrectly. As a Black person who's heavily into entertainment (movies, video games, shows, etc.) I see "diversity hires" misused GREATLY.
It hasn't really gone and been the thing to let more black people or other minorities get the jobs they deserve, instead it's just been used as a checklist for companies to go "Look, we're diverse, we hire ALL kinds of people here" and those "all kinds" of people are either stuck in jobs that they don't know how to do, aren't qualified for, and given no support, or they're just given a fancy title but not doing much of anything of real importance.
Like the Pastor said, I'm one of those that would not want to receive any position JUST because of my race or the color of my skin, but because of my qualifications or the work I put in speaking for itself. There's little to no pride in being a token hire imo. DEI just paves the way for that as I haven't seen it make any real progress.

First things first. The fall of black wall street in tulsa, oklahoma was a massacre. I believe there's only one or two people left living from the massacre. As an oklahoman, I can confirm that black wall street never bounced back in tulsa, oklahoma. That community was knocked down to put in an overpass. They just recently started uncovering the mass burials from the massacre. Where white people (not from or living in greenwood) came in and quite literally burned everything to ashes. They flew planes over greenwood to accelerate the destruction by throwing fire bombs and using guns while in the air.
It is a devastating story that obviously not enough people are educated about.
Edit* All because a young white girl thought that someone was trying to cop a feel. When in all reality, it could have been a malfunction that jostled the elevator cage and made them collide. I'm pretty sure if I remember correctly. That kid was killed without going through the justice system. He was fifteen or sixteen. A child. Killed by a murderous mob. Too ignorant to understand the brainwashing, they partake in.

I have wondered if some of the white businessmen who participated in the massacre owed some of the black business people money. During the middle ages in Europe, it wasn't unusual for the nobility who were getting deep in debt to start a wicked accusation about the Jewish community and cause a massacre and looting. Even the king of France pulled that trick.

Same shet here in Texas, the amount of times people will tell me about all their hang ups with anyone they don’t approve of, starting with “dumazz liberals” and escalating to other Demos from there, just because I’m white and male, so I *must* be conservative by default, right?! NO. I just do t happen to lose my cool the moment someone starts saying some derogatory things is all. By their own logic, I default as a “flaming libtard” or a “soy boy soldier of the woke mob”, or “a fkn gay h0m0”, etc. I’ve heard it all from them once they’re through running their mouths. All that, and I live in Austin too, the most liberal city for this state, emphasis on the word “for” because That was one of the first things I heard about ATX when I first got here, when in reality it’s really not. It’s the most liberal city [for, not ‘in’] Texas, because “in” would imply that it is on par with universal standards of liberalism. It’s the most liberal city in the state (only by Texas’ standards). It gets really fun when my friend and I come across these types because he’s Mexican although he’s White passing, and his wife is a very proud Black woman.

Actually, it unfortunately does make sense, after all, predominantly black districts are still the most poorly funded when it comes to education & public schools. Which is why it completely baffles me that these people are supporting the very party that has every intention to completely gut public education, after we fought for it tooth and nail.
