“Having the right to hear a Christian prayer in your local public school doesn’t mean a lot if you’re not allowed to attend you local public school.” That’s thought provoking
@@Royalty_girlie that African Americans are so overwhelmed with trying to obtain their human rights that their religious rights aren’t even on their radar yet.
@@Royalty_girlie What it means is that, while black Christians and white Christians might agree about certain issues like opposing abortion, same sex marriage, and supporting prayers in school, the white conservative Christians also envision a future where segregation and ‘separate but equal’ are the law of the land. In such a world, you might have prayer in school but find that, if you’re black, your child won’t be able to go to the public school of their choice because it’s racially segregated. Hence, “Having the right to hear a Christian prayer in your local public school doesn’t mean a lot if you’re not allowed to attend your local public school.” So even if conservative black Christians and conservative white Christians might agree on some issues, the world the conservative white Christians envisions is one where the black Christian would be a second-class citizen. Hence, conservative black Christians end up voting for democrats who might support things they oppose, like legalized abortion and same sex marriage, but at least democrats are interested in preserving the fundamental human rights of black conservative Christians.
And true. Add to the fact that the governors in southern states closed all schools to prevent integregation which forced black students (like my 70-something parents & their friends) to migrate north to continue education AND created private schools, all to the testified detriment of white students who couldn't afford those schools' tuitions, and it is abundantly clear why Blacks vote Democrat and white Christianity is dying.
That is one of the most insightful lines I have ever heard to sum up racism and separation of church and state. I mean that is fire!!! Nothing matters more than being treated as a human being in every regard first and foremost.
Because of Racism. Those fellas in the White sheets & Hoods claimed to be Christians as well, but anyone can claim Christianity but not follow Jesus’ teachings.
real christians do not involve themselves in the divisive world politics of satans matrix. you are all being deceived. again. which is what the ruler of this world excels at.
As a Black Protestant, I'm proud to say that I approve this message. Also, this history lesson shows that Black people are not loyal to the Democratic or Republican party, but they are loyal to the party that is the most progressive in racial equality and justice.
That would be the Republican Party who do not support abortion or gay marriage which by the way is a sin against God. If you vote for a democrat who believes in murder of innocent babies in the womb and promoting gay marriage(read Romans 1 ) then you are not a Christian. A Christian doesn’t vote for things that God hates.

@@ceciliaramos2280 Clearly you want a theocracy then since your only argument that abortion is wrong is if a fetus has a soul. Souls are a purely theistic or at least deistic idea so not based in scientific reason. Separation between church and state is the only viable option for stopping tyrannical structures from growing. I think you should look into the history of when Christians controlled governments in the Middle Ages and what was done it is pretty horrifying.
@@swellson8133 I agree. If one thinks hard enough about it, freedom of religion cannot exist without separation of church and state. In a theocracy, there would only be one free religion left. Even if that would be Christianity, what flavor of Christianity would that be? Groups like the puritan pilgrims and the quakers wanted to find life away from the Church of England. Side note is that if there would be a "Christian" theocracy tomorrow, it would unfortunately likely be on the false doctrine of the prosperity gospel since that seems like the group that has the most political power right now.
I can't believe I just subscribed to a channel called "Holy Post". I'm an atheist. I think religion is complete nonsense. But, I just watched two outstanding, insightful, educational videos here, so... I want more. Great content!
That depend on how you see religion and how you comprehend what you read. Its history and what you take from someone view on history or your on view on history. [Just to ask a question. If you see a hawk getting drown by a duck for trying to eat the ducks child do you help the hawk? Is it law of the jungle and just watch? Could you stay just to watch?] That's how I see what religion provides a conscious mind even if some of these religions are bias/tainted/amended/blemished it makes you seek knowledge and have a opinion. (just my view I haven't been to church in years that a hold different view I would have.)
Umm except that the civil rights act ( mostly a republican effort ) dealt with that LONG ago and prayer in school is a CURRENT issue. Very dishonest of Phil.
That is unfortunate. I'm so in favor of term limits. Career politicians would treat the American people differently if they were rejoining them in 8 years. But that will only happen if they impose it on themselves. I won't hold my breath. But that would keep them from doing stuff like passing Obamacare for us, but it not affecting their own separate health coverage.
1. House Representatives serve 2-year terms. 2. A single politician cannot even come close controlling the entire government, not even if they serve many terms. 3. They are elected by the citizens from their states. So if they please their voters, they get reelected. Even if every other state disagrees with why they are being voted for. Strom Thurmond being reelected over and over simply reflects a racist voter base coming from South Carolina. It's wrong, but it's what SC wanted. And he didn't control the government - all the racial equality measures were passed even with him voting against them.

Rather than praise for the channel its more an indictment of the education system. Since I studied US history for about a year outside of the US and it covered most of these topics. We had a 'moment of silence' after the pledge (It was well known so students that want to pray can do so). I'm talking still into the early 2000s. This is in the South. There’s no conservative takedown of liberalism and black people. They like to say that black people are ‘enslaved’ on a ‘Democrat plantation’ but they’ve never given a single good reason why a person with black skin should vote for them. It’s a free market for all, they’re free to fight for black votes just as democrats are. Yet they never try, but they will complain till kingdom come about black people not voting for them. All they’d really have to do is acknowledge systemic racism and take steps to combat it. But we all know that doing so would mean that they’d instantaneously lose a sizeable percentage of their voters. My advice to conservatives; stop whining about black Americans not voting for when the foundation of your platform is inherently anti-black.

@@krissteele7960 Hi. Thank you for your comment. I find it helpful to think of it as two similar things that are both called Christianity. One is a religion based on the teachings of the New Testament. The other is the act of truly following the Jesus who is revealed in the New Testament. The first has always led to division and suspicion. The second leads to a life of humility, service, love, hope, and yes sometimes hardship. And it's easy to confuse the two.

@Matt Vanderford God’s people in the Bible engaged in corporate lament and repentance for systemic and generational sins. The idea that sin is only defined as an individual issue is uniquely American.
@Matt Vanderford I’m not saying individual sin isn’t biblical - it most definitely is. No question. I’m saying that the idea that it’s appropriate for a society to lament and repent together for the sinful things done within that cultural framework is also biblical - yet not emphasized within the White US American church. You hear a lot of, “Well my family and I never did that.” Maybe not, but if you call yourself an American then you have to accept the good and the bad. I take pride in the good that “we” have done as a nation. That’s part of what it means to have membership in a group. But group membership also means I am there for the ugly things, too. I accept that “we” have sinned, must lament the evil done, repent, and try to make it right. The systemic sins are glossed over in the White American church, and that is what’s culturally unique.
@Matt Vanderford - Hm. Well I agree that revival and restitution for national wrongs should go hand-in-hand, but I’ve personally never been to a revival where we’ve call for a national effort to right the wrongs committed by our country. Personal sin requires a change of heart and the work of the Holy Spirit in an individual’s life. Holy people can still exist in sinful systems, though, and even benefit from them. Systemic problems call for policy changes, not just renewal of the heart. We live in a country that we govern - that’s a blessing and a huge responsibility. We are not just subject to the whims of a monarch. We can change laws and systems that are unjust or cause injustice. If we know the good we ought to do and don’t try to make it happen, that’s sin. Over the past six months, White congregations have been more vocal about social and racial injustice, but whether we will make a meaningful difference in our country in the name of Jesus on this front remains to be seen.
I think God looks at a lot of the Christians of America today like he did when Jesus confronted the religious leaders of Israel. I hope that God will change hearts in our nation and people will start loving each other like he loves us.
Very well said and so true. Sadly, a lot of people profess Christianity who don't have a Christ-like life. Jesus knew the scribes and Pharisees did things for show and for power and greed. Jesus knows those that are his and while we might fool some, we will never fool Jesus.
@Notus Notus Didn't God have mercy on you while you were a sinner? Didn't God continually show mercy to his people Israel? Didn't Christ tell the pharisees, "I desire mercy not sacrifice"? I'm glad Jesus showed me mercy and love even when I didn't deserve it

I remember when white Christians switched from Democrats to Republicans: It was when President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act in the mid-1960s. The switch was only about race. I remember when a lovely well dressed Black couple entered the First Baptist Church for the first time as guests (rather than as cooks or maids or babysitters). They were ushered to the balcony just as slaves were allowed to sit in the balconies of white churches during the antebellum times in the South. Sad but true. I've always struggled with this. Since high school, I considered myself a conservative liberal. In my personal life, I carried myself in a manner similar to modern conservatives, especially with my religious beliefs. However, more often than not, liberal policies did more for my community than conservative policies, even though on a personal level I agreed with them. Understanding how the parties "flipped" over the years further cemented my confusion and frustration with both parties- I felt trapped somewhere in the middle. I believe in innovation. I am an educator and musician, yet due to a car accident, I am now disabled. These unique circumstances make it easier for me to separate church and state when I vote. However, I do not vote strictly democratic. I vote based on policies and weigh them in conjunction to the greater good. I'm tired, so I'll stop typing now, but I hope that whether we agree or disagree politically that we'll keep each other in prayer. America more than ever needs to stay safe and be steadfast. Man....you NAILED it! I'm a 50 yr old black guy that doesn't necessarily profess to be deeply religious nowadays but was raised Baptist in Mississippi. That said, the way you broke down history and conveyed the current perspective of black folk using past and recent history as the backdrop explains not only explains quite a bit about political differences between white and black religious groups, but basic differences between blacks and some (many?) whites about the country as a whole as it pertains to so-called patriotism. We will never go backwards. Things must and will change. Thank you for the history lesson.
Disagree. it is not possible to "repair the past". You will only add more and more racism to the discussion, as current events are proving. At some point you have to get beyond the race thing. The narrative of the "the party switch because Republicans embraced racists" is extremely misleading. PragerU debunks this: th-cam.com/video/UiprVX4os2Y/w-d-xo.html. This was such an excellent video. I have often lamented the two party system in the US which makes almost no allowance for people who have have both conservative and progressive views. We are often forced to choose extremes on both sides, which I think is not what God calls us to do. Having more political choice would help to alleviate the problem, I believe.
nothing wrong with two party system, the problem is the inability to compromise. Governance should be all about compromise, because as you say, somewhere in the middle is where everyone sits. And, btw, its time to separate "what God says" from your voting. You (nobody) have no idea what God actually says, so I don't want your religion anywhere near the policies I have to live with. And that's democracy. God doesn't "call us" to vote, the secular constitution does.
@@jatmas11 Technically yes, but as long as we have "first past the post" voting it only makes sense for people to vote strategically for a party they think is likely to win, until the voting power inevitably collects between two competing parties.
The solution is to have "Open Primaries", like in New Hampshire. This problem has shot from being a peripheral issue to urgent since the Trump era began in 2016.
It's not really about black vs white. The real colors it is about is blue and red. Blue is for Democrats and Red is for Republicans. The blue democrats are always being prevented from helping people. There is a reason the parties chose these colors to represent them. Blue angels vs Red devils. During the civil war the Blue coats won. Through-out history and in all cultures blue is for God and the good, while the color red is used to represent the Devil and everything evil. Red is for hate and for war - Redrum is murder spelled backwards. Blue is for the truth, splendor and beauty. Blue States are better for communal life. Red States are hell holes of suppression and racism. Blue is for deeper thought and peace. Red is for rage and rebellion. the blue democrat party is "for" everything - and is positive - while the red republican party is only against everything - and is negative. The red party is full of hate and racism and lies. The true blue party is smeared by them as liars and satan whorshipers. But that's what their all about - they are a corrupt party. They lie when the speak. Obama was 99% correct when he said you could keep your doctor. But they say he was a liar because there was a 1% discrepancy. But when they are 1% correct about anything - they say they told the truth. In the Revolutionary war we wore Blue coats & we killed the Red coats. Jesus was a Democrat Rabbi and they wore blue. He was for the poor. The Romans wore red and built the colliseum from the spoils of their sacking the temple in Jeruslem. There - they expressed their hate for many years to come - killing the christians in their blood red games. Hobby Lobby are evil schills for the right winger's hate and lies. Blue is the color of God and his moral law Luke 9:35; Rom. 1:4.
Black people werent allowed in white churches. So they built their own. And then you tend to go to the same church that your previous family members attended so its a cycle. But there are plenty of churches that are multiracial. Personally i prefer black churches because the music is better and theres more personality.
"Things that are different are not the same." Just saying you're a Christian does not make you a Christian. A Christian is someone who follows the examples of Jesus.
I'd say it's partly because people tend to worship in cultural conformity. But I'm personally with Tony Evans, when he says that the Bible's teaching should always trump (precede) our culture. If our cultural traditions contradict the Word of God, then we need to leave them behind. I attended a purposefully racially-integrated church for twenty years. They were a non-denominational, charismatic-leaning congregation; the pastor and his family were multiracial (black and Asian), but they were about as conservative as they come. The racial makeup of the congregation closely mirrored the percentage of blacks and whites living in the community (i.e., it wasn't half-and-half; but neither is the general population). But unfortunately they sent their daughters off to one of those progressive CINO colleges (Meredith); and that, I think is where things started to go wrong. :\

“Having the right to hear a Christian prayer in your local public school doesn’t mean a lot if you’re not allowed to attend you local public school.” That’s thought provoking
Maybe you typed it weird but can you explain what that means lol

There’s no conservative takedown of liberalism and black people.

@@krissteele7960 It seems that you have been believing the lies of the leftist media. Most Republicans don't hate anyone, but welcome people to join them. I have found much more hatred toward people in the Democrat party if anyone has an opinion different than theirs. I have found Republicans to be much more accepting of people with differing views and perspectives. It is not "rich Christians" that are corrupt, but rather people who pretend to be Christian, but support policies and politicians who are corrupt and their actions negatively affect hard working Americans. When you consider who the CEO's of large corporations support, who big tech supports and who the Wall Street bankers support, it becomes obvious that the Democrat party is the party of the rich, the elitist and not the party of hard working Americans. In fact, biden chose prominent people from large corporations, big tech and Wall Street banks to be in key positions in his administrations. They most surely will not have the best interest of hard working Americans, including black Americans, in mind when they impose more restrictions on American society. The Democrat party is not a party that cares about Christian values or freedoms.
@@lg9388 You seem to have an idea that the Republicans are for the working people? Gee, you must be all confused about who is who and what the hell is actually happening in this country? How can you say what you say? The most obvious corruption is in the rich Republicans who try so hard to flip the "witch" on to the Democrats! Do you have a curious mind and look more deeply at things or not? You would see that you need to open your mind to reality! God is so so so good to me and I understand that he is a gracious lord and his kindness to me is ever abounding for insights into his word. It is not about how you control people.( If I hit "Return do I send my message or a new paragraph?) Anyway, God loves us all, and even if this country is exactly cut in half....Half is still my home too! Do I need to be excluded from my country's direction because the I am not a Republican? Do the Republicans even hear the hearts stopping and breaking every day? Review in your mind's eye a list of pro's and con's of each party and the truth is evident. The difficulty in this perplexing time is great and hard for each of us right now. (You Have no Idea for ME!) I don't want to toss out any ideas you would have but want to analyze my thinking too, if I am the wrong one here. Thanks for responding! God Bless this message and you
@@krissteele7960 Hi.

Excellent presentation. Very unbiased informative lesson.
Definitely one of the most well put-together educational videos I've ever seen. I can just forward it to people who find this topic baffling.
It's all about race and the threat of "other" masculinity.
Like a Pimp....they used the Blacks to gain wealth then wanted nothing to do with their well being afterwards. Amoral!!!!

Have a nice day.

Until the country reconciles and seeks to repair past AND CURRENT attitudes about systemic racism and equality (economically and otherwise) we are doomed to repeat it over and over and get progressively worse uprisings each time. We will never go backwards. Things must and will change. Thank you for the history lesson.
Mississippi raised Baptist and I wholeheartedly agree.
Disagree. it is not possible to "repair the past". You will only add more and more racism to the discussion, as current events are proving. At some point you have to get beyond the race thing. I had hope in Obama when he used the term "post -racial" but his later statements and attitudes were a disappointment.
The narrative of the "the party switch because Republicans embraced racists" is extremely misleading. PragerU debunks this: th-cam.com/video/UiprVX4os2Y/w-d-xo.html. The South didn't vote solidly for Republicans until the 80s and 90s, a full 20 to 30 years after the Civil Rights act that Phil says made Southern Democrats switch

Blue angels vs Red devils. During the civil war the Blue coats won.
Through-out history and in all cultures blue is for God and the good,
while the color red is used to represent the Devil and everything evil.
Red is for hate and for war - Redrum is murder spelled backwards.

Blue is for deeper thought and peace. Red is for rage and rebellion.

Why Do Black and White Christians go to different churches, if they are both Christians?
Black people werent allowed in white churches. So they built their own. And then you tend to go to the same church that your previous family members attended so its a cycle. But there are plenty of churches that are multiracial. Personally i prefer black churches because the music is better and theres more personality.
"Things that are different are not the same." Just saying you're a Christian does not make you a Christian. A Christian is someone who follows the examples of Jesus.
Because segregation is ingrained in American Christianity. Sundays are acceptable days of segregation
@@ThatClassic70sGirl Well we have over 400 years of evidence that segregation on Sundays is the norm. Yeah there are exceptions to every rule. American christianity for the most part has contradicted with word of God for decades. Instead of looking inward they will continue to blame everyone else

Galba, Otho, Vitellius, and Vespasian were the 4 horsemen of the apocolypse.
Flavious Vespasian is - was and forever will be the most important person that has ever lived.
He killed off the warrior Guals of France and Spain. He then did the same to the messianic Jews. He started antisemitism to keep the Jews down. He took their holy objects like the menorah. And he became Ceasar and built the Coliseum. Where - for many years they killed Christians in games. He adopted the last Messianic Jew and gave him his name - Flavious Josephus. And Josephus was Rome's personal scribe - they wrote the new bible and rewrote history. He invented Christianity to divide the rebel Jews with hate. He had it written to promote His/Vespasian's perspective. They retroactivated the new testament so the bible character Jesus's prophecies would come true. It is his Roman spin/propagana. After the Jews detroyed Rome he came back with a vengence destroying Jerusalem and their temples. He then proclaimed himself Jesus the Christ. It' a Greek term for The Savior Messiah. Flavious Vespasian was a mule breeder. Mules are the offspring of a male donkey ( jackass) and a female horse. Vespasian/Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem in Matthew tells how he sent two of his disciples to a village to get a donkey with a colt beside it.
He told them to bring the donkey and the colt to him so he can ride the donkey on his way into Jerusalem. This is a sneeky way of saying for the messianic Jews that Jesus was Vespasian.
