Loved hearing the old girl working on the hills Steve and I didn't need earplugs, but as you said she is loud in the cab. Enjoyed every bit of it cobber and the film crew did a job job to.🤠
Thank you Daryl. It is noisy mate. The plugs just make it that bit better. You can actually hear better with them in because it takes that high note away. Much better at the end of the day.

It has been great to see good Australian content on here, I hope the negative side of the internet doesn't keep you from putting out these top notch videos, keep it up.
I drove an Albion with this cab back in 1968/9. It was a super Reiver 3 Axle chassis with a concrete mixer mounted .Leyland 400 engine which was underpowered when the mixer was full. Brand new at the time, it was a demonstrator for the Rapier Truck Mixer. I worked for NCK Rapier at the time as a Service Engineer, A UK company making crawler cranes, Rubber tyred mobile cranes and The Truck mixers. Also made a range of water pumps and concrete Pumps.
Another great video, the ride along, the beautiful Albion and the walk around of the man’s collection. I’ll have to say thought that my thumbs up 👍 goes to Georgie for that long of a ride in the Kenworth.
That brought back a memory of an overnight run that I had as a passenger, in an 8-71 powered Kw in the 80s, I loved the sound but after many hours I had enough. But if I hear a 2 stoke Detroit it still turns my head. Thanks for taking the time to film that.
I miss the sound of the old Detroit diesel. Our old farmer neighbour had old pommy trucks and Bedford trucks he loved them and we would have to enjoy the sound of them in the early hours of the morning.
Only just started watching what looks like a ripper of a video. A few minutes in and boy I got to tell you. Your Kenworth ? Sings like a pure steel angel. Awesome sound. Brilliant sound. A nice big diesel engine screaming at the top of its lungs. Whoa ! Now this makes my day !
Thanks for this nice comment Alan. It’s mostly driving in this video but some of when we were there. I’m glad you enjoyed what you watched mate. Thank you
I just finished a 14 hour run over here in the west in my c509 KW,just cracked a tinny and had the biggest flash back from when I was a kid sitting in the passenger seat of my dad's K 125 cabover with a 871T. Absolutely awesome mate👍

My Dad would have absolutely loved a 'walk through' that workshop! He was mad keen on those old Leyland trucks. Great score on picking up the Albion, too. He seems like a great bloke!!
No f***ing way! When I read 'Clydesdale' I just assumed you meat one of the '80's Leyland ones, I can't believe you got one of these little beauties and it's in such great shape too. I would love this damn truck, you're a very lucky bloke mate. Great video again.
Watching you flick thru the shift pattern takes me back. Drove a 3070C back in the 80s here in kiwiland. Had same box with a 903. Could hardly stay in the seat with an empty transporter 😮 but she was a weapon in her day. Got a new 2233 merc after that. Was luxury to drive but compared to the 3070 the merc couldn't pull a sick chook off its nest. Love you channel, always look forward to the next one 👍
Hi Jimmy. I like those 3070s. I actually had one here but she kept doing liners from electrolysis so the next time it did one I got rid of the headache. She was fairly rough though. I don’t mind the Benz’s either but it’s different power to the American stuff, good trucks all the same though
What a fantastic video mate! All the old British buses and trucks an actual Albion Clydesdale truck. And of course, the absolutely amazing sounds of a Detroit being driven with enthusiasm. Good Video, thanks for showing.
Hey man Hearing that good old Detroit humming away in a cab over reminds of my good old Atkinson cab over i had working as a truck a dog combo with 8v92 silver Detroit with Double turbos a super charged with a 15 speed O D box with no 6 highway diffs she was a ex tnt over nighter a was so reliable truly just saying reliable
Awesome evening brother and sister from another country another awesome adventure rolling coal shifting gears Detroit rumbling awesome combination awesome donation brother wow that's incredible what do think you will do with her!!!! That Ole iron is a true piece of art 😊😊😊
Albion looks competent & solid. Wouldn't it have originally have had an Albion engine. I remember Albions sounding quite different from Leylands. What a racket from those sodding 2 strokes, and 8V71s aren't even the worst offenders.
Such a nostalgia trip😊 love all your motors Steve but growing up in the 70s, Ergo cabs always have a special place in my heart ❤️ many a school holiday spent in the passenger seat of a mandator or 2 stroke commer 😊 happy times...carry on collecting, keeps us older Pommys smiling 😂
Hi mate. Those are great memories I’m sure. They are a good cab from what I’ve seen. I don’t mind the look of them at all. There’s plenty more to come for you all to enjoy
Nice one , my dad used to drive an Albion in the sixties, I remember going out with him in it . What a gift . And good to see you ‘ tap dancing’ in the kenworth 🙂
Steve, a real gentleman. I agree a different truck to pick things up would certainly be more comfortable and less fuel. What I really liked was the old bus. I remember busses from the 60s, not that brand but beautiful. Sorry I was late in replying but my long time friend and employee, well his wife died. I cooked scallops in a wine sauce for him and 2 other family members yesterday as she used to do all the cooking. They live on my second floor for 35 years. As always your. Content is educational and enjoyable. See not all your people are hateful. I'm happy for you on the new truck. It was nice to see your wife with you. Treasure your family mate. Jim
Thank you Jim. My condolences to your friend. It’s never a good thing to go through by any means. It sounds like he has a good friend in you also. No mate they are not all hateful. It’s not bad at all lately mate. I’m still enjoying it anyway. I do treasure my family very much and always will. All the best as always, thank you Jim
Great to see the old Leyland, Albions and Aec's they brought back memories of when I worked at the Leyland Australian head office and assembly plant in West Footscray Vic.I was responsible for writing of the service manuals of the Australian versions and advertising of the trucks and buses. In 1984 I brought a Sydney Albion Viking double decker (no. 1880 )and drove it to Melbourne as you mentioned a very reliable vehicle if somewhat slow being geared for the hills of Manly
Hi mate thanks for watching. Great comment and interesting to read. You would know them well I’d imagine. They are very reliable indeed. There is more bus content coming soon.
Good to see the Ole K Model out for a run. Looks like you really enjoy driving it. Love that v8 Detriot sound. All noise and no torque but f@#ken fun to drive.
I used to go with my father before school back in the late 1950s early 1960s in an ALBIAN tipper to Kurnell to bring a load of sand back to Auburn. Up at 4.30am, thanks for the memory jog. 40 years ago had a 1924 Benz, slow and steady, then moved on to an ATKINSON 4870 with a 8v92ta, 15sp direct working the coal up at Lithgow.
Hi mate thanks for watching and my pleasure for sharing. It’s good it brings back good memories. I have a 1924 here that I’d like to do a start up of soon so hopefully that will be coming up. The Atkinson would of been a great truck
i grew up listening to those sceaming demons coming out of sharon steel with coils of steel on them when i was a kidd in gmc s, thats why ive been driving for 29 yearsl
Another interesting video, great road trip, liked the old bus collection. As for those clowns/ pickers that love being negative, if you don't like what Steve does then pi, Buzz off, don't watch the videos. Most of us enjoy what Steve does, sorry Steve. keep up with the great videos. I've enjoyed catching with these after being in hospital having a triple by-pass surgery, so far all good. Thanks mate.
This old stuff brings back memories man, the buses and trucks, I started driving trucks my first truck was a Clydesdale I drove it for years, that kinda explains the problem I have with my hearing well lack of good bloody hearing now i think solid old stuff the owner of the company I worked for still has 3 or 4 full restored old Albion's the three brothers loved them well they were build only about 40 miles from the depot, wow man great memories good times, i ended my working life just recently i worked doing the nightshift shunting the artic trucks and trailers and parking them up,, what bloody far cry from the old Clydesdale,s right now they have Daf's Volvos Renault's and Ivecos, none will last like the Albions tho.
If your looking for a good truck unit to pull a trailer the daft units are prity good bloody powerful anall as you said it'll heat cool and be quiet enough to hear in, I don't know if you can get them in Aus tho, I like the Volvos as well the electronics are hair tho.
Fantastic mate and thanks for watching. I’m glad it brought back good memories. Great comment. They are a great old truck. Nothing these days will last like those have
@@stevesplacedownunder Yeah, the older Volvo's are very durable, the three brothers who owned the company I worked for had on to pull a low loader to carry the Albion's to shows, which was fairly regular in the summer months, if the show was in the central belt of Scotland where the depo is they just drove them to them themselves, they loved Albion's as I said Albion's were built in Clydebank well actually Yoker ( outskirts of Glasgow ) about 40 miles from the depot in Armadale they had the three Albion's painted in they're company colours, the company is Drummond distribution Armadale west Lothian, the three old boys are all passed away now tho, I have no idea what has happened to the Albion's I wouldn't be surprised if they're still locked in a depot shed now, anyway thanks for the wee reply, good on ye for keeping all these old girls going.
Remember these in the 60's in London, used to take our class to the open air swimming baths once a month in the middle of winter...remember the preselect gears, I distinctly remember they ran Leyland 160hp engines back in the day.. smooth and quiet, like the Leyland 200hp super power plus, before they started turbocharging, great video, cheers.....
Hey Steve i know Mark very well. Him & i work together at Premier Motor Service. I wish he'd told me you were coming down, would've been nice to meet you. Anyway that old Kenworth looks & sounds the goods mate. Nice to see him give it to someone whose going to get a lot of use out of it.Can't wait till next video.Cheers 👍👍👍👍👍
Hi Peter thank you. Yes it would have been great to say hello and he’s a great bloke. I felt like I’ve known him for years. The Albion is very much appreciated mate. It’s certainly at the right place
Excellent video once again! I appreciate the scenery shots as youre driving. ❤👍 2 stroke GM sounds so good! Especially on that hill climb up Mt Ousley, even passing new Volvo's waaay to go 💯👌 But that racket must get old, driving that hour after noisy hour! 😂 I've got a 94' Ford E350 cube van (short hood) - practically a cabover with an IH 7.3L V8 IDI (in-direct injection) diesel and it's loud but nothing like this screamin Jimmy. Appreciate the old Pomme trucks too, they have character. 😊
Hi mate thanks for reaching out. It does sound great indeed. Usually I don’t mind the noise but when I take my wife it’s good to be able to talk every now and then. I still love driving it though. It sounds like you have a model that we don’t get over here. It’s interesting to me
Steve if you get the coin it would be good to see you do her right up. And take her to the show exactly as you are carting her now. I love your videos bud keep up the good work. And don't let those other bastards get you down
Hi Robert. I’d like to spend a bit on it. I think it’s in incredible condition just how it is and it’s original too. It will be coming to shows with us yes. The trouble is that most blokes that go to shows here are into the American stuff but if you get the right people looking it’s very much worth it. I’m starting to enjoy the pommy stuff more and more since getting this mate. The haters are unbelievable, it’s a whole new world to me this internet journey but I see that near everyone on here gets it also so I’m learning to adapt to it. Thanks again Robert
Crackin mate brought back memories of visiting my mate back in sept23 we went down to Haywards Bay and going back up Nbr 1 to the piecart at Mt Ousley And a Great Wkend at the Clarendon KW Klassic
Steve, you building a really awesome channel mate, I love your content and I think it’s a great testimonial to you when people start donating trucks like this because they know it’s going to somewhere better. I’ve watched many American shows on similar lines, except there is such a huge Cat following and availability over there that is the centre of there preservation; whereas here in Australia, we’ll I guess we are a bit bastardised aren’t we. Point is we have a couple of great channel now here and they are worthy of patronage. Keep up the massive effort mate and remember it’s an Aussie thing to get your mates round to give a hand to concrete a drive etc. I’m sure there’s a lot of us out here who now live there lives now who can’t afford to buy a truck, or don’t have the space, or feel they are too old etc to do it themselves but would relish the chance to come down and give you a hand to pull apart some old machinery to give you a hand, believe me retiring is a bit of a shock in many ways, least of all being able to rub shoulders with likeminded folks to share in a common goal. Anyway that’s me Sunday say, appreciate your channel and all the good you bring to our teles, cheers mate
Hi Gordon. This is a nice comment mate and thank you. A lot of blokes have said the same thing about the American channels. There is a little community of us here in Australia doing it now which I think is magnificent. I try to save what I can and to be given something like this is just brilliant and much appreciated. If you are down around here mate and feel like tinkering with something here please look me up. I’m always open to help and meeting like minded people. I get what you mean about no room. I had the same problem until this place was going for very cheap as it was in ruins and I fixed it all up. I’m certainly open to meeting people like yourself mate and having them help.
That Detroit is like music coming up out of the gong 👌🏿 also what a pretty part of the coast the road is down near kiama, must have been a sweet road trip!
@@stevesplacedownunder yeah i bet, that looked pretty crappy towards the end with the spray. Love the fact you have a Detroit 2 stroke on the road. Only one ive ever seen in person is in the boat the Wangi queen which is in nelson bay doing charters at the moment and it was one very tired bit of gear but running none the less. Keep up the great content, Dan from Newcastle.
What an interesting pick up for you. Would you believe that in 1964 that Leyland had the address of K A McLane of High Street Inverell. I actually lived at 11 High Street from 1956 till I left home in 1965 to attend the Armidale Teachers College. What a small world we live in!
Was going to ask you how was the wife’s hearing after the trip. I saw that you had ear plugs in to combat the ole screaming GM. Talking about going to school on the old Leyland bus, I have fond memories in NZ in the late sixties of our school bus was a Bedford based on the S class series. Apparently New Zealand Road Services, a division of New Zealand Railways had the largest fleet of that model of Bedford bus in the world. Also old Mates Leyland Beaver was very similar to the Leyland Lynx milk tanker that I got my semi licence in. What a gift is the old Albion is. A Leyland very similar to that was ran by Refrigerated Freight Lines in New Zealand as a truck and trailer unit in the sixties and went to the bottom of Wellington Harbour in 1968 when the Inter Island ferry the Wahine struck rocks and capsized. Anyway the truck was salvaged by cutting it in half and then rebuilt as a Prime Mover I think and continued to give many more years of service. Thanks for the video Mate👍PS I am old school and was brought up if you cannot say anything nice about people don’t say anything at all
Hi John thanks for reaching out and this is an interesting read. I have a lot more interest in the buses now that I went to Marks place. I’m very happy with the Albion, it’s very much appreciated. Thanks again John
Nice one Steve really enjoyed the video nice to see a bit of Australia 🇦🇺 mate nice to see the old British vhechals being preserved all this modern crap never last like the old gear hope every ones ok by the way now in the process of buying an adapter plate for perkins 6354 engine to fit in a fordson major but that will be for bit later like watching your channel keep it going mate all best
Great video Steve, could listen to that fella talk about busses all day. Good luck finding a volvo look forward to that coming up. If you could just miss one or two gear changes to make me feel not so bad about my abilities that would be great also 😊
Thank you Justin. He was very informative and interesting yes indeed. I will eventually find something but no hurry at all. I most probably did miss a few that were off camera 😅😅
Gday Steve, that’s a bloody awesome addition and the collection ol’mate has amazing, gear was built to last and they had style, they were built like a brick shit house and never wore out, even the bin on the Albion still straight which isn’t that common on old trucks, GM’s have a sound of sweet music but after a few hours it does get to ya, top episode mate, cheers
A honest old trucks Albions but they were so hot to drive in summer We had them as tipper n tankers At the old wrecking yard that sat at the hume / illawarra highway turnoff years ago Good pickup Cheers
Great content Steve , enjoyed the video...the scenery on the way down was awesome , looked like you had a smooth run , except for a few minor defects by the RMS. Understand how noisy it can be in the old trucks...saw you were wearing ear plugs 😅 you may have to invest in ear pods...I own a 1991 Mercedes Benz's 2225 V8 Slimline , with both windows down and the ( pop up ) sunroof open , it's very noisy...but o my , it sounds beautiful 👍
Hi Wayne thank you. It was a great day. Yes I wear earplugs in these. It just makes it that more bit pleasant. I like those Mercedes trucks mate. They do sound nice
Excellent adventure Steve, and what a freebie that LAD-cabbed Clydesdale is - I'd be interested to know what engine it's got, it doesn't sound like the Leyland 0.400 from that short start-up but who knows. Yer man with the AEC Regent bus ~@46:35: it's got a pre-select gearbox. The left pedal engages the gear the driver selected beforehand: if the driver didn't dab the left pedal, the change wouldn't go through. AEC Routemasters (the archetypal "London bus") had a similar arrangement, right down to the gear selector under the steering wheel. BTW I know of an even older Albion Clydesdale (with a lazy axle), and it's still stood in a paddock near where I live. No-one I've contacted seems interested.
Hi mate. I’m very pleased with the truck. It’s a Leyland 400 engine yes. It has a 12 speed transmission too which shifts just beautifully. Those bus transmissions are interesting. I remember going to school even in the late 90s and they were still running old Leopards with a similar trans. We spoke more about it off camera and mentioned similar to what you are. It’s a shame nobody wants the Clydesdale near you. She deserves a good home
@@stevesplacedownunder Thanks for the reply Steve, I'm chuffed you read my comment. Much (but not all) of my working life has been on wagons and I've always tried to master whatever gearbox I've been presented with, but bus transmissions are a thing I've never had to dally with. The Leyland Leopards you went to school on might (probably?) have been pneumocyclic like the Atlanteans and Leopards Sydney UTC had - they're a bit different from the pre-select AEC and both are different to the SCG box that Bristol RE/ Bristol VR/ Leyland National had... it's all a bit confusing. The 12speed on the Clydesdale - is it a range-change or a splitter or both? PS if you ever find yourself up here in the central tablelands in or west of Bathurst, let me know
@@taxus750 I will always try to reply mate. Yes the bus transmission was hard to remember back then but I just remember a small H pattern box with a short stick on the side of the column and it was just changed without a clutch. Must of had like a torque converter type arrangement in it. The other gear stick is a splitter. Can split each gear in the main box and it works great. Thanks for the offer and yes mate thanks I will
i drove a albion reiver and aec monarch both single drive in the 60s and early 70s and i can tell you ther was no comfort the aec with the ergomatic cab let in more dust you could hardly see out side and that was from new . in my day idrove em all i see yuo have got the wife with you on this trip i was born in wollongong , but iv been here inthe nt since the 60s good luck with channel
The Kenworth was workin hard getting the load home, she sounded great! Like the Albion dump truck, that is a great gift. It runs good. I noticed it doesn't seem to have a front bumper - were they made with one that is missing or is it behind the front bodywork? Guys hereabouts are pretty tough on equipment, without a good bumper things could get redecorated real quick! 8^) Your friend has a fine collection and sounds like a great guy. Really liked the video Steve, and Howdy to your Dad and Georgina. Cheers from Canada!
Hi Jeff. Yes I’m not sure if it had a bumper. I’d say it would have. I may put something on it but not a priority. He is a nice bloke and has a great collection. I only just met him that same day. Thanks for the howdys and I will pass them on. All the best mate
Some people aren't satisfied with their own life so they become keyboard warriors disregard all of them bloke and your family aswell as it can affect them also just stick to what you know and that is 'making great content and videos' all the best mate cheers Dean
Hi Dean thanks as always. It does get to me sometimes, for the reason that they get away with it mainly. But it’s not just me, I think if you put yourself in the public it’s a given to get it off these grubs. The internet is loaded with them. I’m starting to get used to it though mate. It’s not going to stop me anyway.
What a score that Albion was Steve, what a top bloke he is and he has a great collection too! ! Is that an AEC Matador parked next to the the Albion? Cheers, Mike
What year model is that truck brother !!! Say hi to pop and the Mrs for me okie dokie another awesome adventure with my brother and sister from another country Awesome as always yall
I drove a 1972 Chevrolet that was awesome 15 speed Detroit that would rattle the cab !!! Had to wear ear plugs lol !!! Pulled a lowboy hauling heavy equipment loved that Ole gal tried to buy it but he wouldn't sell it
Also can't remember if that truck is a 903 or 671 or 871 but sounds awesome I'm a truck driver and miss those sounds plus it looks like it rides noice for a day cab cheers bloke
Hi Nick. Yes mate but just for these quick recovery missions and so we can talk when my wife comes along. I know what you mean about the newer machines too, and they are more useful to be honest also
I drove an Albion does your have a joey box . Mine had the change lever on the cabin rear wall. The head gasket was gone and the owner had me pull in every couple of hours to refill the radiator. It was a piece of crap but I was young and keen
Hi mate yes it has the splitter lever on the back wall. It changes beautifully. Yes when your young it doesn’t matter as much but I’m sure she just needed some love
Great I grew up riding in a Leyland beaver 680 power plus , my dad fitted a 13 speed road ranger. And insulation in the cab . I would love to find it if it's still alive. It went to rainbow Vic district s in early to mid 80s. Engine number was 53 ? Or 57?
Hi mate, good memories for you. I’m sure it would be still around somewhere. The Pommy cabs were better steel and didn’t rust near as bad from my experience so she maybe hidden behind a shed somewhere hopefully.
My dad drove the first erf that came to Australia he was doing Sydney Perth everywhere he stopped everyone would come out to look at the new truck that had come to Australia by the time he got back to Sydney half of it was on the trailer it couldn't handle the corigation and fell to pieces
Yeah there some wild & wonderful people out there , , I was looking at friends Facebook the other day inter family blue absolutely unbelievable the shit what was there about there shocked they obviously come from different places than me yeah Steve fuck em all just keep doing what ya doing 10/10 from me to you and family ROCK ON ,,, = RON

Thank you Andrew. I’m glad you enjoyed it mate. It’s my pleasure
She sounds BEAUTIFUL, amazing Rig
Thank you mate she sure does
God bless you and keep on sounding good with yo 8v71 Detroit diesel KW truck amen 💯
Thank you mate🙏
Hey man Hearing that good old Detroit humming away in a cab over reminds of my good old Atkinson cab over i had working as a truck a dog combo with 8v92 silver Detroit with Double turbos a super charged with a 15 speed O D box with no 6 highway diffs she was a ex tnt over nighter a was so reliable truly just saying reliable
Hi mate I’m glad you liked it. That would have been a great truck. This was an overnighter too for TNT when brand new
Awesome evening brother and sister from another country another awesome adventure rolling coal shifting gears Detroit rumbling awesome combination awesome donation brother wow that's incredible what do think you will do with her!!!!
I think it came out with the Leyland engine in it mate. It is a solid truck and in great condition Neil. Thanks mate
Gotta love that sound of a Detroit music to the ears❤
Hi Matthew yes mate certainly a beautiful sound
Such a nostalgia trip😊 love all your motors Steve but growing up in the 70s, Ergo cabs always have a special place in my heart ❤️ many a school holiday spent in the passenger seat of a mandator or 2 stroke commer 😊 happy times...carry on collecting, keeps us older Pommys smiling 😂
Hi mate. Those are great memories I’m sure. They are a good cab from what I’ve seen. I don’t mind the look of them at all. There’s plenty more to come for you all to enjoy
Thank you for the tour. Really love those old busses. Also really like the Albion.
Hi Mike thank you mate. I’m glad you like it and it’s our pleasure for sharing
Thank you both for sharing the trip. So beautiful.
After riding with you In those Detroits your wife knows you are not ignoring her, you really can't hear her lol
That's why they're still married.
How on earth could you get death threats for keeping these lovely old machines alive? Lovely videos to watch and the V8 music is addictive..!
The internet is a strange thing mate, who knows why but yes it has happened. Thanks for watching and plenty more of it to come
Good ta see green grass only places I see it is on people's front lawn awesome
Thanks Ron. It’s beautiful and green here and down south
Love the two stroke soundtrack nice gear changes too Love it 🏴
Thank you mate
You need good radio in that 😂 .old Gm .sat on old wabco scrappers listening to that 👌
It has one but not a lot of use turning it on😂
What a Win Steve she’s a keeper for sure! Thanks goes out to the doner🤙🤙🤙
Hi Steve yes mate I’m very happy with it. Very appreciative of it
Nice one , my dad used to drive an Albion in the sixties, I remember going out with him in it . What a gift . And good to see you ‘ tap dancing’ in the kenworth 🙂
Fantastic memories mate. It certainly is a gift. Just magnificent it is. Great condition also
Fantastic bloody video thanks SD
Fantastic mate thank you 🙏
Wow that Ole bus would be an awesome rv conversion Wow
Hi, awesome, loved this video all of it
Hi mate thank you. Much appreciated
Love that drive man that was some hill going down,a real brake killer . Love that truck of yours, Gerald Ingram. Feilding. New Zealand.
Hi Gerald. Yes mate that’s Mt Ousley going down into Wollongong. Thanks as always mate
Loving this drive along. Thanks again for your Chanel
Hi mate thank you. Plenty more to come
Great to see the old Leyland, Albions and Aec's they brought back memories of when I worked at the Leyland Australian head office and assembly plant in West Footscray Vic.I was responsible for writing of the service manuals of the Australian versions and advertising of the trucks and buses.
Thank you Jimmy yes I love driving it. It goes well and still does a great job
Cool old truck,,Must be a rare one now,,Not to many of them left...
Hi mate. Yes I’d imagine it is, especially in this condition
Hello from Canada.great looking Kenworth, Nice to see there still some real trucks on the road.
Hi from Sydney Australia mate
Great video Steve sorry I haven't commented recently but keep up the amazing work mate would love to see more😊
Hi mate thank you. It’s no problem, we all have busy lives. Take care and I will be watching
i grew up listening to those sceaming demons coming out of sharon steel with coils of steel on them when i was a kidd in gmc s, thats why ive been driving for 29 yearsl
Fantastic Kelvin’s. They have a very unique sound
Hi mate thanks. I’m starting to get used to it all. Was a lot at first but that’s just how the internet works
@eanbarr35 thanks for the reply. Hopefully they are still in a shed somewhere where they will be looked after. All the best mate
What a great video, I've loved every minute of this one.
Many thanks
David in the UK
Hi David thanks for the nice comment mate. Much appreciated
Loved the video mate learnt to drive in an Leyland Mandator early 70s model a lot of used ones where imported to Ireland brought back memories
Hi mate thank you. They were very popular trucks I believe
Who doesn't love a road trip. The south coast of NSW looks lovely. I don't see it so much these days living in Melbourne.
Hi Anthony. Yes mate it’s beautiful. Blue one side and green the other
Remember these in the 60's in London, used to take our class to the open air swimming baths once a month in the middle of winter...remember the preselect gears, I distinctly remember they ran Leyland 160hp engines back in the day.. smooth and quiet, like the Leyland 200hp super power plus, before they started turbocharging, great video, cheers.....
Hi mate good story thank you. It’s interesting to hear these overseas adventures. It’s my pleasure and thanks for watching
2 stroke GM sounds so good! Especially on that hill climb up Mt Ousley, even passing new Volvo's waaay to go 💯👌
But that racket must get old, driving that hour after noisy hour! 😂
I've got a 94' Ford E350 cube van (short hood) - practically a cabover with an IH 7.3L V8 IDI (in-direct injection) diesel and it's loud but nothing like this screamin Jimmy.
It’s interesting to me
The yellow and green leyand come from 40 min west of where I live, good to see some history being preserved
Hi mate yes it’s certainly in the right place there. He’s very happy with that one
Sounds like u mate have a cool looking Albion Clydesdale kenny runner.. sounds great..
Thank you Billy
Crackin mate brought back memories of visiting my mate back in sept23 we went down to Haywards Bay and going back up Nbr 1 to the piecart at Mt Ousley
And a Great Wkend at the Clarendon KW Klassic
Hi mate fantastic and I’m glad you enjoyed it here.
@@stevesplacedownunder cheers mate well next time might have to meet up for beer 🍺 and have a chat about old trucks 👍
@@samw2195 yes mate would love to
Good to see you were down my neck of the woods (just south of Wollongong)! Good video.
I certainly was mate yes. Was down there a few times. My parents have another place in windang not far from there
Steve, you building a really awesome channel mate, I love your content and I think it’s a great testimonial to you when people start donating trucks like this because they know it’s going to somewhere better.
That’s a great score Steve
It certainly is mate. Very happy with it
Beautiful song by a Detroit workhorse!!
Thank you mate
That Detroit is like music coming up out of the gong 👌🏿 also what a pretty part of the coast the road is down near kiama, must have been a sweet road trip!
Hi Daniel yes it was a great trip mate until the rain just before we got home
Hi Neville, that’s great. It sure is a small world indeed
Thanks as always Keith. I’d be interested to see how the plate works and how it all fits. I love these type of jobs
That old gm is from an era when men were men and the women were glad.
A bloke that can steer em helps 😉💪
Hi Glenn yes mate she certainly was. Thank you 🙏
Great video Steve, could listen to that fella talk about busses all day. Good luck finding a volvo look forward to that coming up. If you could just miss one or two gear changes to make me feel not so bad about my abilities that would be great also 😊
Thank you Justin. He was very informative and interesting yes indeed. I will eventually find something but no hurry at all.
I most probably did miss a few that were off camera 😅😅
excellent video again Steve. Thanks for taking the time. A Volvo F88 would be a good fit for your collection.
Hi Paul thank you. I have two G88 Volvos here which are basically the same as the F88 and a G89, it’s rusted out though that one
@@stevesplacedownunder Just caught up with that one. By hell she went off a bit quick. th-cam.com/video/BzbyL-zAi5Y/w-d-xo.html
Thank you Matty. I’m very happy with it and it’s much appreciated. The certainly built stuff to last in those days mate. Thanks for watching Matty
A honest old trucks Albions but they were so hot to drive in summer
We had them as tipper n tankers
At the old wrecking yard that sat at the hume / illawarra highway turnoff years ago
Good pickup
Cheers
Thanks for sharing and watching mate. Glad you enjoyed it
Great content Steve , enjoyed the video...the scenery on the way down was awesome , looked like you had a smooth run , except for a few minor defects by the RMS.
Thanks bud
Thanks for the offer and yes mate thanks I will
Perfect combo down the track🚜
Certainly is mate
back in the 70s and 80s we had old comair and bedford school buses
Hi mate that’s good. I remember even in the 90s I had bedfords and Leyland also
i drove a albion reiver and aec monarch both single drive in the 60s and early 70s and i can tell you ther was no comfort the aec with the ergomatic cab let in more dust you could hardly see out side and that was from new . in my day idrove em all i see yuo have got the wife with you on this trip i was born in wollongong , but iv been here inthe nt since the 60s good luck with channel
Hi mate thanks for watching. Seems like you would have some good stories in these trucks. Very interesting. All the best mate and thank you
U HAVE A NICE COLLECTION OF RUSTY GOLD
Hi mate thank you 🙏
Old Dad Drove one of them , Cool , Feed her the Coal Mate
Hi Brett. I was giving her the coal mate
Some people aren't satisfied with their own life so they become keyboard warriors disregard all of them bloke and your family aswell as it can affect them also just stick to what you know and that is 'making great content and videos' all the best mate cheers
Dean
Hi Dean thanks as always. It does get to me sometimes, for the reason that they get away with it mainly. But it’s not just me, I think if you put yourself in the public it’s a given to get it off these grubs. The internet is loaded with them. I’m starting to get used to it though mate. It’s not going to stop me anyway.
I love that Albion and the LAD cab is in solid order, check out my Albion Reiver tipper.
Hi mate thank you. It is in very good order. Very happy with it
You drive that like you stole it lol good shifting
Thank you Rodney🙏
Great Vid! I wonder if back in the day, the drivers wore any sort of ear protection? Your ears would be screaming at the end of the day!
Hi mate. I’m not sure if they did or not but this isn’t modified or anything, it’s just how it is.
Thanks for the look 3875
Hi mate thank you
That green yellow truck looks like it may towed for cubico that was the colour they used paint truck from memory
Hi Alan I’m not sure mate it may have
What a score that Albion was Steve, what a top bloke he is and he has a great collection too! !
Is that an AEC Matador parked next to the the Albion? Cheers, Mike
Hi Mike he was a great bloke mate. He had a great collection and yes I think it was a Matador
What year model is that truck brother !!! Say hi to pop and the Mrs for me okie dokie another awesome adventure with my brother and sister from another country Awesome as always yall
Hi Robert. I don’t actually know the exact date of it mate. I will say hi to everyone indeed
Yes mate she’s an 871. You would have seen all these engines in my videos but this is a v8 Detroit.
Hi Steve i can't blame you wanting a comfy truck as you know i like my old tractors but i have a 1998 Jcb fastrac 1135 for that reason mate
Hi Nick. Yes mate but just for these quick recovery missions and so we can talk when my wife comes along. I know what you mean about the newer machines too, and they are more useful to be honest also
All ya need to know is your the man bud....
Hi mate thank you😅😅
I drove an Albion does your have a joey box .
The Pommy cabs were better steel and didn’t rust near as bad from my experience so she maybe hidden behind a shed somewhere hopefully.
wow a Z stripe livery ACTION bus
Hi mate yes. He certainly has a good collection and knows his buses
My dad drove the first erf that came to Australia he was doing Sydney Perth everywhere he stopped everyone would come out to look at the new truck that had come to Australia by the time he got back to Sydney half of it was on the trailer it couldn't handle the corigation and fell to pieces
Good story mate thanks for sharing. Yes I believe this happened to a lot of the first imported stuff
Hi Ron yes mate I know what you mean. It’s a strange world this online journey mate
