I love that both the guys and the girls stand up for her at the end. This makes such an awesome statement saying enough is enough. We will not exploit girls and it is not cool to either. Sexual assault and rape whether through coercion or manipulation is not something we will support or promote. Very beautifully done Kira!
AjaxEddiefan Moron is a synonym of "stupid", and stupid means lacking intelligence or common sense. Since you feel the need to question my intelligence, I feel the need to state mine. While in school I held an easy 3.9 GPA, as well as have an I.Q of 150. Now...those are not the best statistics for intelligence, but they are above average. In other words, I can hardly be considered a "moron". Nice try though.
Assassin No, this is not a competition over how smart you are. This is about you not comprehending - or perhaps ignoring - the meaning of this song and video. To insure that you do understand, I will explain it to you. This song is about a girl meeting this boy, going to a party with him, and getting drunk. Quite possibly drugged, though that is just an idea I've heard, it is not stated in either song nor video, though it certainly happens in real life. Regardless, she is then raped by the male, with pictures taken and posted in a public place. In the song, no one believes her and takes his side. In the video, they see the pictures on his phone and take her side. This happens almost regularly in high school, and it has nothing to do with a girl being a 'slut'. Can you honestly look a rape victim in the eye and repeat these words to her? However, I do not agree with people calling you a moron. It is quite impolite and shouldn't be done, even if you do negate your claims of an IQ of 150 by not comprehending such a simple story laid out in a song and a video - even if the video and song endings differ. ^-^
Cria Nightshade I understood the story perfectly fine. However, I disagree on the "rape" part of your claim. I see no evidence in the song, nor the video to suggest rape. I believe that it was consented sex between two parties. The girl only talked to the guy for one day before having sex with him, as well as participating in alcohol at her own discretion. It was her own fault, and in my opinion can be viewed as "slutty". AjaxEddiefan I'm unsure as to how I can be a misogynist considering I have a girlfriend that I love everything about her. I just see the facts for what they are, whereas you ignore them with all your strength. "I would certainly like to meet this maladjusted, gutless creep in person." - I encourage you to do so. With how you wrote your reply I believe that you are implying that you wish for a physical altercation. (For which I know for a fact that you would not be successful) "Oh, you are definitely a moron...just with big, meaningless numbers." - The numbers aren't exactly meaningless when you are comparing someone's intelligence. Someone who has the audacity to call another a "moron" would have realized that.
AjaxEddiefan Right...what are you? A whole 5'0 nothing? Do you even practice any martial arts, or self-defence? Or...are you just another teenager on the internet? Oh..who am I kidding, you've already answered that with your abysmal writing. "Lots of psychos have high IQs." - So do a lot of "geniuses". Do you compare the minority, or the majority towards something? You always compare the majority. Also, if you feel like the I.Q part makes a "physcho" then refer to my GPA. (I did write both for those of you that would say "GPA is different than real life intelligence - it's just book smarts")
AjaxEddiefan Are you illiterate or just avoiding what proves you wrong? "Interesting you see your grade point average as a license to be a misogynist moron." - "I'm unsure as to how I can be a misogynist considering I have a girlfriend that I love everything about her." Learn how to read before trying to have a conversation through text, okay? Okay.
this basically happened to my little sister at age 16. I was on the football team, I was a defenseman. we were throwing a big party to celebrate our victory, and our QB roofied my sisters drinks without her realizing it. when the rest of our team found out, lets just say that a good beating ensued.
This video isn't addressing all men are assholes nor that all jocks are assholes it's showing a lot more than that. People are bullied but not like being called names they are taken advantage of, it's showing that even when you think you have power over everything the truth always comes out. Everyone is bullied at least once in their life and this video is showing that it can happen in anyway and to anyone. Yes a lot of men are assholes and it can usually be the popular jocks and yes a lot of the time girls don't stick up for them selves, but what I think the video is showing is that sticking up for yourself is better than hurting yourself and being strong is what makes you a real person
AjaxEddiefan I wouldn't necessarily say that either though as it is still generalizing both genders. Some young men have harder, or at least just as hard, times as some young women. Adolescence in general just sucks for some people more than others. The video is about lack of power and a voice in general.
Kira is coming to my home town on Saturday, and I would love to meet her and tell her how much This song has helped me this year.. I was sexually assulted by the same guy (who was supposed to be a trusted athority figure in my life) 6 times. Myself along with a few others are now fighti g him in court. I hope my ending is just as good as Hers. her music saved my life..
Kira is the real deal. This video should be required viewing for everybody under the age of 21, boys AND girls. This same story happens at high schools and colleges everywhere
3 years ago In 2014, When I was at St. Francis Xavier Catholic School in Elementary School, Where I saw this TH-cam Advertisement and this song is beautiful & look for this song on TH-cam. That song gets stuck in my head whenever I keep listening to it. I started listening to this song since I watch this in IEP class, where I'm in Ms. Zurzolo's class and this song makes me cry because, It's beautiful!!!! 😢😭
Great song. It's nice to see young artists with good music that has meaning behind it. And great idea for a music video as well! I was so happy when I heard this song because I play trumpet in my school's band. There have been rumors about me that were spread by someone I trusted. I can really relate
This is a good song for young girls to listen to. Its sad that we live in a world where girls Have to always be cautioned because more responsibility and accountability isn't put on the males.
I agree. Cause being a highschool student mtself in thsi day and age. It is harder for some of us to not get in trouble especially when we were part of it and if it involved a Jock or a popular well known guy or girl. Us unpopular or us who aren't jocks get in trouble. Believe me i have been through it. Guys at my highschool can't respect girls now. It is terrible
I usually don't like country music but this song has an extremely deep meaning behind it which is why it will always be one of my favourites. This song isn't necessarily targeting quarterbacks, it's targeting guys that use girls that were genuinely into them and leak their nudes after they're done using them.
A real country singer, refreshing and long awaited for. Perhaps Country Radio will break this amazing Artist for her genuine artistry...something that seems to be missing on today's country radio. Someone put the rock into today's country radio, but Kira's vocal work tromps all over that with a genuine country feel. Great job Kira. Hats off to the Producer's who get you. Pat Melfi, StarPointe Records
3 years ago, I started listening to this song since 2014 when I'm in Grade 7 in Ms. Zurzolo's class. This song makes me cry because of my memories in 2014. I miss my old memories in 2014, where I'm in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Elementary School.
I've dated a 'player', age 14. Never got sexual or anything... but everybody picked his side and I was left crying. Thank you for writing this, Kira. It reminds me that I'm so much better than what he thought.
This song is such a hidden gem. The story, the video, the lyrics and Kira's voice blends together to make a powerful, touching ballad. Man..I just love it when I discover new songs.
In my school it's the marching band boys who are popular....and he tricked me, pretended to be my friend and led me on, then left me because he didn't want to mess up his chances with a girl he liked. It's sad that once your labeled one of the 'beautiful girls' you're no longer a girl, and no one wants you for anything other than your body.
salaah khayr This video has no tones of misandry in it whatsoever. You're misinterpreting, or misapplying the message completely to draw your own conclusions that are not in sync with the overall message of the song or the video. It's about people in positions of power getting away with things that wouldn't normally be accepted.
salaah khayr Another one. When will males like you stop thinking about "man hating" and start seeing the whole issue from another perspective? Don't you get that we are in a position where we are the first that has to recognize this kind of stuff? Stop feel threatened at the slightest hint of discomfort dude.
The very first time I heard this song I cried because it is just amazing how there are songs/people that say a terrible message and this song has an amazing message I cry at the end every time.
If anybody is interested ThinkProgress did an article about the song. The Story Behind ‘Quarterback,’ The Country Song About Date Rape: thinkprogress.org/culture/2014/08/15/3471950/the-story-behind-quarterback-country-song-date-rape/
I feel like this deserves more views than 'Anaconda' or 'Gangnam Style' because this actually has a message behind it. Not sexualizing woman's bodies or ridiculous dance moves. I have been in a similar situation before, not involving sex considering I'm still young, but I'm not getting into detail. Thankfully it ended like this and I called him out of these ridiculous rumours that he spread. The entire school was on my side. But it didn't end like this for a girl I knew. She committed suicide three weeks ago because of pictures getting leaked. People are so quick to pick someones side due to their popularity status. It's pathetic.
I adore this song!!!!💕💕💕💕 I love Kira Isabella she is my idol and I don't know what I would do without kira inspiring me to become what I want to become!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️ THANK YOU👏👏👏👏✌️✌️❤️❤️❤️
is video has a deep meaning, more people should see it and I think that they should behave like that, I don't mean tha boy or the girl, I mean the people at the end, when friends from school cover her back. Sorry if my English ain't perfect, I'm from Italy and I just wanted to share my thoughts..
My exact thoughts. I went through this and no one had my back except my two best friends and my grandparents even my entire family took his side. So sad this happens !
In order for other people to respect you, you need to respect yourself. Tossing your virginity out the window at a bonfire party when you're 16 is not respect. It's shameful and disgraceful and should be treated as such. I think a closer look at the parents would be in order in cases like these.
Guy still didn't need to do it. And why are you blaming the parents? Plenty of things could have happened besides the parents. Maybe her dad left them, maybe shes a foster child, maybe her parents died when she was young. Maybe society could take the blame for the way teenage girls act now. Maybe if society stopped making girls think that less is more when it comes to clothes. maybe society shouldn't make it seem okay to toss your virginity out the window at 16, because society does a great job at that.
***** There is nothing shameful or disgraceful about being a kid who feels excitement at the opportunity to hang out with someone they have a crush on. There is shame and disgrace in sexually exploiting someone who is intoxicated and in posting pictures they did not know were taken on the Internet. This happens all too often in today's society and people like you who opt to victim blame need to give your head a shake.
Not gonna lie... I'm bawling like a baby! That song definitely tugged on a few heartstrings like too many times a girl is called a liar b/coz of a guys status in school or vice versa and I'm glad that this video ended this way coz I was picturing a much sadder ending xx
Thank you Kira for this beautiful song, I never been to this situation but I can't imagine the emotional and social torture and pain of those girls who had been to this situation it's sad but true and this is happening even worse blaming and shaming the real victim. Bless all those girls who made it through and those who didn't, it's not the end for you cheer up Queen the best revenge is to show those dickheads how they are such an excuse for humanity.
Abbey Emerton This song makes me cry because of my memories in the past since Grade 7 in Elementary School and when I was in IEP class in 2014!!!!!!😖😖😖😖😖😖😖😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
It wasent rape it was both of them consentially having sex he did do somthing illegel when posting those pictures but thats the only thing that she didnt approve she wanted to have sex he did not force her
Gabbie, it is definitely rape. They said she's a freshman--she is 14 or 15, meaning she cannot legally consent to sex period. The song said the boy was being scouted by colleges, meaning he is at least 17 (legal age of consent in most states) or 18, meaning it is, at the very least, statutory rape. It is illegal for them both to drink. The song said HE tipped the drink to her lips and before she knew it she had three more. That's a lot for a little girl who has never drank before. He clearly purposefully lowered her inhibitions and that amount of alcohol could easily disrupt her ability to speak or protest physically or verbally. This. Is. Rape. Not recognizing this only backs up what Crystal said. Though, considering he took pictures of it, that is proof of his crime and hopefully they were used to put him in prison. Don't need a verbal confession when there's photographic proof that he raped her ;)
Thanks for your music, lets other people know we are not alone and it's okay to fell the way we do and Okay to stand up for ourself thanks no big shot will ever make me fell little again thanks Kira
Some people find that this song stereotypes male athletes, but it's sad how often this happens. It happened to a girl in 9th grade at a catholic high school in Guelph, Ontario. It was act of getting back at his own friend. She was 13 years old and had to change schools due to humiliation.
Yea, it's too bad that people are like herds of sheep and this story would NEVER end like this. Ask the hundreds of people who commit suicide over situations like this every year. Makes my blood boil.
No, that would not make me happy. Why would it? I am simply saying that this is a fairy tale ending, and in the real world people are too judgemental and ignorant to learn the facts.
No, that's my point. You're being very negative. They portrayed a happy ending to this video in the hope it might happen to some. But there's an alternate version online that they made for the other way it could end.
Actually got to message her and talk with her about this video and I told her it was amazing and how I as a guy have went through this she told me it will get better and to start writing it down and try to become a voice for those in my small town
I so hope that if and when I have a daughter, I will be able to raise her to love herself so much and respect herself so much and realize how priceless she is. I hope I will be able to raise her not to idolize popular classmates, to realize that a position on a sports team tossing a ball around doesn't make the person special..... I hope I raise her to focus on the person inside instead and the way they behave rather than what they appear to be on the outside. I hope that she holds out for someone who legitimately loves her rather than some loser just hoping to score.
Kira Isabella didn't write this but she sang it because originally Carrie Underwood was supposed to sing this song. But they decided not to have Carrie sing it because she used to date the "Quarterback" of the Dallas Cowboys, Tony Romo.
Story time: Good story, don't worry. :) I'm not from the US, so this genre of music i have never been introduced to. (Idk what genre this is, but the only one i know that is similar is like country? Which i was never into.) So i listen to foreign music, and slowly being introduced to English etc. My roommate, like my sister, and i were at Walmart looking around. She went to the bathroom while i was looking around by myself. I standing in the makeup isle, and they have crazy random music playing. Random like Spanish, and then rave music. Weird. So I'm doing my thing, and i started to feel really chill all of a sudden and i was getting into it but i didn't know why. The second chorus of this song starts, and it was the first time i realized i was getting really into it. I'm sitting in Walmart thinking "wtf, this is a really good song." I pull out my phone just as it's over with the final chorus and i type the words of it in. Luckily i found it right away. My roommate/sister came back and i was all excited. "I found a country like song i like." She gives me the wtf look. "Wow." Now I'm sure i have the genre wrong, but i thought it was a funny story. This is the first time I've listened to it since then, and i was not disappointed.
I love that both the guys and the girls stand up for her at the end. This makes such an awesome statement saying enough is enough. We will not exploit girls and it is not cool to either. Sexual assault and rape whether through coercion or manipulation is not something we will support or promote. Very beautifully done Kira!
she has an alternate ending video that sadly is more realistic
This is probably the Band Geek in me talking, but, that girl looks SOOO good in the band uniform.
I love how the end of the video shows what should happen in these types of situations.

No, this is not a competition over how smart you are.
"I would certainly like to meet this maladjusted, gutless creep in person."
- I encourage you to do so. With how you wrote your reply I believe that you are implying that you wish for a physical altercation. (For which I know for a fact that you would not be successful)
"Oh, you are definitely a moron...just with big, meaningless numbers."
- The numbers aren't exactly meaningless when you are comparing someone's intelligence.
"Lots of psychos have high IQs."
- So do a lot of "geniuses". Do you compare the minority, or the majority towards something? You always compare the majority.
Also, if you feel like the I.Q part makes a "physcho" then refer to my GPA. (I did write both for those of you that would say "GPA is different than real life intelligence - it's just book smarts")

Wasn't the brightest thing to do considering that her brother was on the team with him.
Amanda Robertson not exactly the sharpest knife in the block
Apparently.
oh crap. the guy must've been extremely dumb, considering you're her brother

I’ll never understand how this song didn’t get the attention it deserves.
Not a big country fan, but this is a breath of fresh air and so important to put out there.
This is why I usually just kept to myself in high school.
That guy in the grey v-neck picks up that phone like a champ

Society is just so twisted into going for jesabelles instead of nice genuine people.
This song is amazing! Why aren't there more views??
salaah khayr A man-hating video? You're full of shit!
I'm not a misandrist, not by a long shot. You just looked way too deep into this video
You really hate women, don't you?
salaah khayr This video has no tones of misandry in it whatsoever. This is a brave, important, and powerful song. Painful but still empowering, i hope this helps anyone who went thru this to not feel alone
The very first time I heard this song I cried because it is just amazing how there are songs/people that say a terrible message and this song has an amazing message I cry at the end every time.

Love u Kira. Amazing voice and such a beautiful song.
Gods, what a depressing song.... through it works out in the end. Thank you.
True that finally on youtube. I've been streaming on cmt for to past few months. Kira your amazing.
The outcome usually is she is the one to blame. I like the message and wished the ending was more this way in real life.

Absolutely love this song and music video!! Saw it on CMT & fell in love with in an instant!
PLEASE do an acoustic version
still listen to every now and then. I hope you are doing well .
More guys should watch this video and start giving girls the self respect they deserve

***** Um, she was raped. She didn't "toss her virginity out the window at a bonfire party".
How about we stop this "guys need to respect girls" and start "everybody respect everybody".
I heard this song for the first time about thirty minutes ago and now I'm in love with it.
Bless all those girls who made it through and those who didn't, it's not the end for you cheer up Queen the best revenge is to show those dickheads how they are such an excuse for humanity.
i love this song it is so beautiful

Abbey Emerton
This song makes me cry because of my memories in the past since Grade 7 in Elementary School and when I was in IEP class in 2014!!!!!!😖😖😖😖😖😖😖😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Love the song! First time hearing it and it is amazing! I love the video, especially the happy ending.
The fact that so many commentors don't understand what's going on in this video really speaks for the way we treat rape as a non-issue in America
Crystal Raye so true
It wasent rape it was both of them consentially having sex he did do somthing illegel when posting those pictures but thats the only thing that she didnt approve she wanted to have sex he did not force her
Just sayin, she's Canadian.
Don't need a verbal confession when there's photographic proof that he raped her ;)
Gabbie Grey He fed her drinks, knowing her tolerance would be low since she's never drank before and she was legally incapable of consent
I usually don't like country but this is one of best songs that I have ever heard. so good
Thanks for your music, lets other people know we are not alone and it's okay to fell the way we do and Okay to stand up for ourself thanks no big shot will ever make me fell little again thanks Kira
Finally it's on TH-cam!
Why hasn't this gotten more views?
Good message. Start requesting it on your local country stations.
Some people find that this song stereotypes male athletes, but it's sad how often this happens. It happened to a girl in 9th grade at a catholic high school in Guelph, Ontario. It was act of getting back at his own friend. She was 13 years old and had to change schools due to humiliation.
i love this ending
I didn't realize the true meaning of this song until i watched the video actually. I love it,
Powerful song. Powerful.

I love this song sooooooooo much it is amazzzing just like kira Isabella
great song.
this song is important
Thank you.
Yea, it's too bad that people are like herds of sheep and this story would NEVER end like this.
Ask the hundreds of people who commit suicide over situations like this every year. Makes my blood boil.
If it makes you feel any better, there's an alternate ending to the music video where it doesn't end happily.
Frank Castle i find that if you are diffrent then you dont get a happy ending
Actually got to message her and talk with her about this video and I told her it was amazing and how I as a guy have went through this she told me it will get better and to start writing it down and try to become a voice for those in my small town
This song though!
I love this song but it is so sad. I want to cry ever time I hear it
I just need to clear it up cuz I'm still not sure after watching the whole song and still a little confused. He was the quaterback right??
Yes he was the quarterback
I so hope that if and when I have a daughter, I will be able to raise her to love herself so much and respect herself so much and realize how priceless she is. I hope I will be able to raise her not to idolize popular classmates, to realize that a position on a sports team tossing a ball around doesn't make the person special..... I hope I raise her to focus on the person inside instead and the way they behave rather than what they appear to be on the outside. I hope that she holds out for someone who legitimately loves her rather than some loser just hoping to score.
I wasnt miss popular in school by no means. I was always very guarded espically when one of the older guys pay attention to me.
i honestly would love this if it was made into a movie
nice job
Kira Isabella didn't write this but she sang it because originally Carrie Underwood was supposed to sing this song. But they decided not to have Carrie sing it because she used to date the "Quarterback" of the Dallas Cowboys, Tony Romo.
Krisstina Wilson wait seriously? I'm one of carries biggest fans and I never heard of that. Either way this song has a strong message.
Story time: Good story, don't worry. :)
I'm not from the US, so this genre of music i have never been introduced to. (Idk what genre this is, but the only one i know that is similar is like country? Which i was never into.)
So i listen to foreign music, and slowly being introduced to English etc.
I'm sitting in Walmart thinking "wtf, this is a really good song."
I pull out my phone just as it's over with the final chorus and i type the words of it in. Luckily i found it right away. My roommate/sister came back and i was all excited.
"I found a country like song i like." She gives me the wtf look. "Wow."
Now I'm sure i have the genre wrong, but i thought it was a funny story. This is the first time I've listened to it since then, and i was not disappointed.
Amazing song!! Love it. But the lyrics in the song are all true
Too bad everyone didn't stand behind the girl in Steubenville the way they stood by their precious football team.
If more endings were like this video. Hell, if these songs and videos DIDN'T need to exist that would be better!
