    Loneliness drives us to do things we usually wouldn't. Anything to have arms around us, and a safe place to land, no matter how brief it may be... just to feel "alive" again. Even though it might leave us with no life left. Anything to feel loved once again and remove the sting of loneliness and rejection. Dear God save us in spite of ourselves. Gracias, Amen.

    I see a wonderful, powerful video here. I have been going through a divorce with a highly abusive man. After the split, I was a lot like the woman in this video. I had the same vice. I wanted to run to other towns where nobody knew me. Everywhere I went it was the same. Wake up, grab my shoes, and get going...proud of it? No. Learn from it? Yes. I was abused. I took out my frustrations in ways that other survivors have for years. Many tests later and several counseling sessions got me back on track. I've finally learned who I am and "how I got here."

      I tell you what...this man is highly influential in the county. He took me all the way to trial. My 5 year old baby is having to go to him every other week, because the system failed her. It came out in trial that the investigations were incomplete and/or mishandled. There was evidence of physical abuse on my baby after I got her back from his house. Guess what was done? Nothing. The judge couldn't rule on custody due to the amount of evidence he was presented with. But, they still let her go. I'm not stopping until she is taken care of by someone that will not hurt her. I don't drink, smoke, nothing...I have to take medication for depression and PTSD, but that's normal. I was on FMLA leave for so much stress. MY BP was 150/110 and pulse 140. I was having gallbladder pains and breaking out in rashes. Trial was horrific, but my story would not have been told without it. I told the good, the bad, and the ugly. He, of course, told lies! He got caught in many. So, yes...abuse is Satan and the Devil has too many advocates out there.

    The music video opens on the video's protagonist in the wreckage of an upturned car, representing another crash in the road of her tumultuous life. She decides to once again pick up the pieces and venture forward even though she is all alone (or, perhaps, because of it). The cold, uneasy atmosphere alerts that this is probably not the first time our protagonist has found herself in this peculiar situation. Coming into a new town - which she wears "like a leather jacket" - our protagonist is greeted with a host of warning signs: empty streets, a newspaper with the screaming headline "CHAOS!", a lone buzzard in the air. She chooses to trudge on anyway just as she has done countless times before and will surely do again. Interestingly, it is a chance meeting with two young girls blowing bubbles on a sidewalk that gives our protagonist the most pause as she remembers she was once just like them: young, naive, full of hope at the wonderment of life's simple pleasures. In the end, however, it is only the vices of smoking and drinking that can satisfy our hollowed protagonist before she soon finds herself once again stuck at the crossroads of life, waiting for the next ride that will carry her down whichever road her vices decide to push her along next.

    I think the car crash is a symbol of her marriage and her turning around is looking back at her marriage and the cross is a symbol of her and BLAKE'S marriage is dead.the woman with the paper is a symbol of all the trashy magazine's and BLAKE putting the blame on her. another Town is her touring the bar is her trying to drink away the pain until she gets up and looks in the mirror and don't know how she got there another bed she crawled out of was she either had bad hangover or a one night stand or it could be where she broke up with Blake and kept going back to him.thats the addicted to goodbyes.because if you remember back in 2013 that Cady woman came out and said her and BLAKE had an affair plus everybody that watched the Voice in 2014 you can tell Gwen and BLAKE had something going on and what married woman sits in a married man's lap.the Voice was the beginning of Miranda and Blake's problems.. I'm sure Miranda had her faults too.but it went around Nashville that she left Blake he got mad and filed for the divorce plus I read that he told the cast that he was getting a divorce and then Gwen did and Bam 2 weeks later they were seen in Nashville together then Bam 3 weeks after that they told everyone they were dating.d don't get me wrong but if someone has been together for 10 years you don't go jump in bed with someone before the sheets get cold.I like Blake but don't like his new album and I'm pissed of because he is trying to put the blame on Miranda and try to save his career.I still think him and Gwen is a PR stunt and trying to boost ratings for the Voice plus start her career back up which she couldn't hardly sale tickets to her concerts they had to give them away that's why she kept asking Blake to show up at her concerts her album crashed but the sad thing is she is ruining Blake with her drama he has lost alot of fans. Hope he wakes up before it's to late and get back to singing some good songs because this crap with Gwen is a joke just like she got a way with words is childish.this is my opinion just like everyone else's.and this song is how she dealt with her Divorce and she was not the only writer.and to me her and BLAKE don't look happy.I think they still care for each other especially when she sings Over You and when he sings God gave me You at their concerts starting back in February.

    • @tinahoward2031

      I also think another life another town is also leaving her life behind in Oklahoma and the car driving it self is she is just going to see where the road takes her in her next journey and she is moving on.but like I said this is my opinion about the video and what I get out of it but I don't think she cheated I think Blake did.and this song is how she dealt with the pain and still dealing with it.if you get a chance look up the song learned alot that she sung in concert she did amazing on it I think Amos Lee was the original singer for that song.

      Tina , I agree with your first comments that you wrote that is how I see it too. I think Miranda wanted it to work but knew in her heart that it probably wouldn't but she kept trying. She was the one that flew to CA to see him all the time not the other way around. I love that song Learned A Lot by Amos Lee you could tell that song spoke to her a lot when she sang it in concert.

    I may be wrong but it looks like she got out of the back seat just like she got in it at the end. The car is symbolic. She's just headed to her next tragedy and she doesn't see that its something she can control. Instead of making a decision on what road to take the car shows up to "save her" from having to decide. Instead of making a change she just gets back in the "same car"...

    I LOVE THIS SONG!! All we know for sure is this. Miranda and Blake have always tried to never spend more than two weeks apart. He ended up spending a lot of time in CA. He became a Mr. Hollywood. She flew there many times to be with him. He did not put in the effort to do the same for her. I have went back and watched season 7 of "THE VOICE" and Blake and Gwen were smitten with each other before divorce of either was even on the radar. Miranda was lonely! I'll end with this quote from Kahlil Gibran.
    "Of the good in you I can speak, but not of the evil.
    For what is evil but good tortured by its own hunger and thirst?
    Verily when good is hungry it seeks food even in dark caves, and when it thirsts it drinks even of dead waters."

    • @lisadaviskissinger1028
      @lisadaviskissinger1028 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the beginning she shows her left hand a few times. What is the yellow thing she is putting in her purse? Is it a gun? Miranda's favorite color is pink. Gwen's favorite color is pink AND yellow. Miranda walks by two crosses on the side of the road. One of them has a yellow lei on it. I think the one earRING she takes off means something too.

    Miranda didn't write this song solo. She's sung a lot of songs that weren't her own material, just like many other artists. The media has drowned us in stories, as they often do. This song COULD be about her, or Blake, or your neighbor. The point of music is what it means to the listener , not what it means to the artist. #DontAssumeYouKnow #MiserySells

    This song is so powerful. It some ways it really relates to my life. I have lived all over the country (not by choice). My mother would find a new man and boom we were gone again. New faces, new school, new friends. So i really understand this. If my daughter remembers any singer or band i listen to i hope she will remember that this chick has a song that fits exactly. And that theres real meaning in her music not just words to sell records

      @Miranda Lambert no unfortunately not. We work alot. And i just listen to music all day at work. And literally when i heard this song for the first time i had it on repeat all day. You are just a strong influence for women all over the world. You can actually relate to some many different ages of people and some that have really had it hard and its like u embrace that and sing the perfect song. Keep up the hard work!!!!!

    I dont know if the lyrics of this song mean as much to others as it does to me, but this song is the story of my life.. Since my dad, who was my world, passed away suddenly when I was 18, my world has spiraled down, starting with A series of toxic and abusive relationships, along with a downward spiral into drugs and alcohol, each time overcoming each "vice" and replacing each "vice" with a worsening one, alcohol, to pills, to cocaine, then finally to meth.. Which basically ruined my life.. And which I STILL struggle with. Why some of us struggle with this shit, this addiction, and these demons, and others don't is a question ill never find an answer to.. All I can do is never stop fighting.. And I won't..

      Julie I get it I have been fighting those vices for almost 15 years now and everyday is a struggle though some are easier than others. I promise you can and will do it just don’t ever let your guard down because that’s when you will slip and fall back into that trap. I was almost 2 years clean after 12 years of everyday use and I blew it... made me sick, now I’m starting over and that hurt me more than anything I just threw away all that I worked so hard for. Keep your head up and keep the faith!

      I been there to my friend, its hard to stay clean. I been clean since 12.4.15 !! turned my life around got a good job, nice car, house., got my 2 girls back, an I cant believe I chose drugs over my kids an family, idk what I was thinking!!! im so grateful to have them back now and a new start to a wonderful life. if you ever need someone to talk to hit me up on facebook. Toi Lynn Smith. keep your head up, it does get a little easier with time. cause after awhile you just don't think bout it as much UNTIL you hear that one song, or smell that one smell or run into that one person! but you also know your triggers an when you feel that trigger coming on you quickly phone a friend, or hit a meeting, or go to a safe place. it will take time but you will soon figure things out. best of luck to you an if ya needa talk im here :)

    My thoughts on the video...The crashed car at the start is the same car that is at the end. Notice there was no driver in the crash. She has a vice that she did in the past and will do again....it is a flashback and flashforward. You could loop the video...she gets into a car at the end, loop the video, and it crashes at the start and then she gets in the car at the end again, etc. She is in a crashed car in the middle of nowhere, so "I don't where I am or how I got here". Also, her lyrics say, "hurts this good you gotta play it twice" meaning even though she knows it isn't a good idea, she is going to do it again. POWERFUL.

    I really don't understand why all these people keep saying "Miranda's vice is men." That's ridiculous. Did they not even listen to the song? I personally think it fits a very broad spectrum of different "vices." Which is what good music does. Each listener takes it exactly how they hear and feel. I also want to say that this song kinda proves to me who the adult in the Blake/Miranda relationship was. Blake's over here playing the blame game with all his new songs and Miranda is actually admitting that she has faults.

    • @Sammiejerrell34
      @Sammiejerrell34 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Alison D or maybe "another bed I shouldn't crawl out of" simply means "how did I get here, how am I alive?" It's all about perspective.

    • @jmgs24lady
      @jmgs24lady 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It could also mean she knew she shouldn't of gotten involved with Shelton in the first place, since HE was married when they met. Just a thought. He seems to have done to Miranda what he did to his first wife.

    • @jamiedeluca8363
      @jamiedeluca8363 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Alison D Not necessarily. I think it's more of a metaphor and more like an indirect way of saying what was actually going on. You never know. But, this is exactly what a good song does, is make you think about all the different meanings it has and could have.

    This is by far Miranda's BEST album ever!! Like, it's not even country to me, it's solid roots rock and the emotional rawness of the lyrics isn't just your typical pissed off blow up your tractor and use you as target practice she's known for. It cuts deeper, and rightfully so

    I had never been a huge fan of any artist.... I always liked different songs by different singers.. but I am rooting for Miranda and have become a HUGE fan of her... I think this song is so powerful... and expressive in so many ways.. We all go through life.. we all mistakes and have heartbreaks... I love how SHE stands in the middle of the crossroad after making her way through... I hope she was symbolically saying at the end that God has the wheel and she will always be OKAY!
