    I seriously love this video. So many 'influencers' make it hard to figure out who to trust and what not. You have a very honest feel and love that you point out how flimsy some of the kits are (I was considering buying one on amazon.) I'm going LED after watching you, and spending a bit more to get set up...good for the long term investment

    • @MarcosRochaTV
      @MarcosRochaTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks Erik! I still use my softboxes, but I prefer LEDs because I can transport them and they are not going to break on me. The LED by Falcon Eyes is my favorite and I've taken it with me to client shoots.

    I've just came by here and already noticed you seem like a really nice and honest guy - hope your channel will grow quickly and you'll stay imparcial - love your style! Cheers.
    P.S. And I really liked the quality of the picture! Good lightning skills in my opinion!

      Appreciate the positive feedback. One question: what exactly do you mean by imparcial? I think I know what you mean, but I think it is worth talking about since I am probably of the same opinion as you.

    "Vellum", (heavy tracing paper) comes in pads too, instead of needing to cut sheets.. for tracing in the art / drawing dept of walmart etc.

    I know this might seem silly to some, but it would be super useful if you gave a link for that paper you used to diffuse. I can go buy a few to find the right one, but your input is welcomed. You did an amazing job with this video.

    Which stand are you using for the RX-18 LED light? or what would you suggest? Looking to purchase the LED light but does not come with a stand. Great video marcos!

      Any cheap light stand will do since the RX-18T is not that heavy.

    Also, do you typically only shoot with one light in the front? Everybody seems to say you need the "3 point set up". I don't know who to believe any more.

    You need a very large LED panel to get proper diffusion compared to softboxes, right? I've been looking at the Aputure F7, but think it's too small/point-light-ish unless you shoot it into a softbox :(

    Brilliant video. I've just bought some 'cheap' led lights to get me started so I'm happy you explained the pros and the flexibility they offer. Can you or anyone else answer this - the led lights I bought came with a filter and a mini softbox - should I use both or is it trial and error for my preferences ? Thanks !

    • @MarcosRochaTV
      @MarcosRochaTV  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What specific lights did you buy? Use the soft box to diffuse the light, especially if you are going to light your face. What kind of filter is it? Is it orange? If it's an orange filter, then it is most likely used to convert the light to 3600K.

    • @JustSimpleFitness
      @JustSimpleFitness 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the reply. I bought the Neewer 2x 160 LED light kit . Came with a clear filter and an orange filter. What would you recommend I use ( im clueless!!)

    • @MarcosRochaTV
      @MarcosRochaTV  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Use both the clear filter and the soft box because it will give you much softer light if you are lighting your face. If you don't use these two types of diffusion, the light will be too harsh and it does not look good on the face. If you are lighting up a room, then you might take them off to get the most light output.

    • @JohnnyBeFilms
      @JohnnyBeFilms 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      But why do you recommend attaching the orange one too? It won't make the light too warm for most situations?

    • @MarcosRochaTV
      @MarcosRochaTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use the orange filter as a hair light sometimes to create Color Contrast. It is not really going to affect my colors too much because the Main Key Light is set at 5600K.

    A soft box doesn't give off any light which LED does. They are two different things. There are LED-lights which you can put a soft box infront of. If you use flash strobes you often use a soft box infront of it.

    Which spiral bulbs have you used in the soft box? E27? Or have you used E27 adapter connector to B22? Because I have these same bulbs and they are heating up like hell. I used the connector. Please help me with my queries.

    • @philscomputerlab
      @philscomputerlab 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't have to use the old-style spiral bulbs. I switched to 4 modern Philips LED bulbs and that works great! Advantage is less heat and the don't need to warm up, full brightness right away.

    Yeah great video review Marcos.. you have a nice big space there by the looks of it.. I was really confused as to what LED lights I need for my Stopmotion Animation.. it's the same principal right with lighting and photography.. whether we taking pics of people or products or puppets / sets or even outdoor filming in dark or near dark conditions.. I got more of an idea now that I probably need LED video lights like this RX-18T one.. I was looking at the NEEWER brand.. they are everywhere on AMAZON, and I'm in the U.K. I noticed you didn't go for barn door option.. do they only do that on the smaller panels.. this looks like quite a big light panel.. I totally get your point having the control over the intensity of the lights with the dimmer.. what is the range on this one? I was looking at some LED video lights with barn doors on stands and they were 3200 - 5600 k thanks for the info.. great review... 👍🏼

    You didn't say what was the output from each of the light sources was. you didn't measure anything so its not a true comparison. if you do green screening you have to make sure that you have an even spread on the backcloth otherwise it causes a problem. so you would meter it out and you can tell if one light needs to be closer or further away to get the right result. i could make either light look better than the other by adjust the power source on either light.

    $100....I understand that lights can cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars. But you gotta just understand that LIGHTS and STANDS are VERY SIMPLE devices to understand that even $100 is too much. Lights shouldn't cost so god damn much at all. They are relatively simple devices and it's nothing short of inexcusable that they are so expensive. Having said that...$100 should not be considered cheap, at all.
