Panel Vs Softbox! Which is better for Video and Live Streaming?

In the video I use the VILTROX VL-S192T LED Panel and the Godox Lantern Softbox on the SL60W.

In the video, your skin color actually looks more natural with the LED. Though I am going to buy a soft box as the reflection in my glasses is annoying.
Agree, face looks better with the led lights on, though I'd say, colour temp would be perfect just between the led lights and the softbox. With the softbox the face looses depth, everything seems so flat, it doesn't give a natural feeling.
Notice that the SL60W doesn’t provide good R9 value at only 90. Also CRI and TLCI values are not the best. Therefore the skin tone should be shifted towards yellow

I prefer the two LED Panel, because the soft box it's too bright on you forehead... Between the "shadow" problem on the glasses and the burnt forehead, I'd choose the shadows!
That can be fixed with light placement tho. You can have the best of both worlds

i wished the color temperature on both the lights were synced so that we could se better differences.

Hello! But for a soft light you can use an SMD LED panel plus an umbrella. And the effect will be similar, even softer than Godox SoftBox.

Great video! - I'm currently in the process of switching out my large softboxes for LED panels. - But I have to say, I prefer the softer light from the softboxes - but they take up too much space in my drum room, which is really tight for space!! - I like the convenience of the LED panels, that they are small and compact so you can mount them on the ceiling so they are out of the way. I may see if I can keep a softbox as my main key light, then use the LED panels as fill lights and back light. Helpful video, thanks!

@@raywalker22 Yeah I switched out my fluorescent soft boxes for 2 led panels. I want to get a third so I have a 3 point lighting set up. They are very bright, more convenient and are more configurable. However they are still not as soft as I’d like though, so may get a couple of umbrellas to diffuse the lighting further. Based on reviews they appear to be cheaper and more effective than the led panel soft boxes.
@@benjaminpeternorris thank you! I have been thinking about getting led panels because I have a super small room and I have to set up the soft boxes and remove them it’s takes lots of time and don’t have the space. What type of led lights are you using currently?
@@raywalker22 I’m using the Neewer Advanced 2.4G 660 LED panels with remote off Amazon. They do come with a diffusion panel that slots in over the leds to provide a bit of softness - but it’s not quite as effective as a soft box. It really depends on what sort of lighting effect you are after, so you may find you don’t need additional diffusion. They are definitely neater and take up less space, as I have them ceiling mounted to avoid needing light stands.

Your video lighting is perfect. I don't understand why so many content creators now think it is a good idea to make their videos dim with shadows-makes no sense to me.

I’m on the godox globe
The only reason you don’t see the shadow with the soft box is cause if it’s position. It’s casting a shadow but it lines up with the frame of the glasses. The panels are from the sides which don’t line up. If he swaps light positions the outcome would be reversed.
I want to purchase a new softbox for my TH-cam video making. Some of the soft boxes I saw online doesn't seem to have a space to insert led bulbs. Does it imply that there are two types of softboxes, for lighting videos and for photography? Please clarify things for me. You can also recommend setup videos for me. I need to know how to set it up for TH-cam filming. Thanks.

Which rode microphone you are using?
Recently I've been collecting more soft boxes Used from Gumtree London for very cheap... Usually the neewer brand...they came with photography bulbs at around 5500k to 6000k but I'm thinking of getting some pro wireless e27 mount rgb remote control bulbs🤔

Yes, but try to get the diffuser as big as possible

it is because they are direct led, instead of indirect led panels.
Next: Collar mic, or rode (like) mic
The soft box leaves a green color cast on your skin, whereas the LED do not. How to prevent that?
What is best for make taking make up photos ?

@@AdrianSalisbury thank you for answering some girls use so strong lights for example in midle one soft light box and from left and right side led panels and betwen them a foil panel to reflect on face 🙄 so on end we dont see texture of skin just flawles skin 😁😁😁😁😁 sorry for my english language is not my native and one more time thank you for answering ... bcs i have 2 phones one android samsung and one i phone but even if they are best on market without proper light i cant have those wow photos u can make some video also about that 😄😄😄 u wuld have so many vews but make it simple hahaha moust of us are total amaters 😆😆😆 but nowdays any job u work without knowleg of photo presentasion own work u wil not have job soo... me at 38 age stil learning 😁😁😁 ... Bro the soft box is bigger than the Led panels that’s why its looks better. And because soft boxes are better, the bigger the light source the better.
