    Couldn’t decide if I was ready for bangs after all one length for years. After watching your video I put my hair in a ponytail on top of my head. Pulled the hair forward and spread it across my forehead. Surprise! Looked great and now I have feathery bangs and a much softer look. Thank you!

    Another reason that the girl at 6:01 looks great with her new bangs, is that some sort of body waves have been added to her hair overall. The new look really makes her jump out at you with style and freshness!

    I have a square jawline but my forehead is more oval. I had a wispy bang with a below-the- chin bob, but had been thinking about making the commitment to short hair for ease of upkeep. I LOVE IT ! The eye is drawn up and away from my jawline, the no-part style with crown and bangs blown forward is soft and flattering, (especially for a woman of 65 ). Credit my hairstylist- I told her I wanted to go short and she made suggestions for styles I might like. I love cosmetologists- the talented ones are true artists !❤

    Love SJP's hair with the fringe, however, it's easy for anyone to add width when you're adding extensions. It's especially challenging to create a fringe on an oblong face when dealing with a receding hair line and hair thinning.

      Yep. I have a long face and fine, straight hair, so there's no way I can get that ridiculous amount of width. Even SJP in that pic, I'm sure that width lasted only the duration of the photo shoot if they didn't mold it into a helmet with styling products. Long faces are the worst for haircuts!

    I have almost grown my bangs out, and I feel liberated. I live near the Canadian border, and it's really windy here, and bangs were a constant bother when I had to go outside. Also, I have super fine, thin, aging hair, and my bangs were too wispy on my high forehead. Plus I have oily skin (even in my sixties) and my bangs were always showing that. I envy people who can wear them, but I'm happy to be done with them.

  • @michelebrotman5345
    @michelebrotman5345 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I have a square face and always wear bangs. I like a heavier, side swept bang best although I wore them straight for a long time when younger They do hide forehead creases and balance out my face. You are correct about wind. It messes up your bang style and no amount of hair spray will keep them in place!

    Thank you for this! I was just googling if I should get bangs today! I want them so bad, but I'm in a place in life where most days my hair is in an unbrushed messy bun. The end of your video talked me out of bangs. Haha Thank you!

    • @GlamGirlGabi
      @GlamGirlGabi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      The cool thing about bangs is that you can wear your hair in a messy bun, wash your bangs and style them. You look ADORABLE in about 5 minutes. I have really been enjoying my bangs BECAUSE I also do messy buns daily! I don't want to talk you into it because it's a serious commitment and the grow out massively sucks but it can also massively amp up your look!

    Now I understand why I decided not to do the bangs. You're right it's a dedication and it takes a lot of work And/or product Especially since I have curly hair. I can kinda do a side part and drape it across My hair it's kind of long but it's now becoming trimmed by nature because I have glasses that just kind of keep breaking the sides of my hair and I'm older so the hair is getting more fragile , recovering from hair loss from General anesthesia 6 months ago.

    You are so right about the theory , but I have to mention to you that if you go to Videl Sassoon in Paris, They call bangs, “fringe”. Just imagine them booking your appointment as a “bang and a blow”? My stylist trained there and when she explained this to me I laughed my head off, because that’s hilarious 😆

      That, and also everyone outside the USA calls it a fringe, and cannot work out why on Earth people in the USA call it "bangs". When I was a kid and came across a reference to "bangs" in an American book, the only thing I could think of it meaning was pig-tails.

    This was so interesting and fun. After a year of not going to the salon I really need a haircut and style. My hair is one length down my back, kinda side bang after cutting them myself a few times and really messing them up. I love my stylist as a person but she just asks what I want--I need someone to suggest what I SHOULD have. So looking for someone new and it's not easy. To make matters worse I'm 71 and I think age changes your face shape so now I'm really confused. Love your videos.

    • @GlamGirlGabi
      @GlamGirlGabi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey Susan! I just had this discussion with another client as well. It's so important for a stylist to look at your face (and REALLY LOOK at your face), analyze and suggest cut and colour options that are going to be beautiful on you as an individual instead of "touch up roots, trim, ok!" There are the clients who just want the regular touch ups and then there are the clients that want to transform and as stylists it is important to suggest things that they may LOVE based on their face shape, hair texture and lifestyle. I feel like often we are just so busy that we just get to it. I have been guilty of this myself and I often try to remind myself to slow down and really look at the person. I am doing a series of live streams where I am taking client photos and analyzing face shape, hair texture, etc. and offering cut and colour suggestions. If you want to be featured in my live stream, send me a photo of your face with your hair pulled back and a photo of your hair in natural light to glamgirlgabibeauty@gmail.com and I will be happy to include you.

My hair is one length - below the shoulder - and I've not colored it for 4 years so I'm naturally gray and really like it. I just don't know what to do as far as style and I think gray can look unkempt if it's not styled in a flattering way. I'd love your advice but either way I'll keep watching and you have a new subscriber! Thanks.

    I wanted bangs so I had it when i was 16. My face is slim and in oval shape so I noticed that I look prettier when i fully show my face instead of hiding. People usually have hair on face 1. On the sides to make face slimmer - I look too slim and it makes my face longer 2. bangs to make their face shorter - in my case bangs made my upper part of face look too short comparing to the lower part. 3. Bangs and hair on sides are the combo - is supposed to make face smaller in every way but it made my face look disproportionately. So my conclusion is i just look best when i dont try to hide something 😀

    ok. Ill do it. Ive wanted bangs for years now so Im going to try it. my bestie is also my hairdresser and Ima show her the pic of SJP and see if she can do itfor me. Itll cover the balding patch in the part in front and the wrinkles on my forehead. Its worth a shot.

    I wear glasses and would like to know if bangs are okay with them? Thanks, Gabi! P.S. Fine, thin hair at 72 years old.

    Gabi PLEEAASEEE……you didn’t address my very difficult PEAR shaped face. The tiny forehead and dominate wider cheek and jaw area. We are ALWAYS forgotten!

      I would recommend not getting bangs, maybe try a style that has volume at the root/front of the hair and maybe some face framing layers to soften the sides of your face

    Ngl I lowly maintain my own bangs, but I still love it bc it gives me off 80s vibe. *(And only bc Stranger Things is awesome when pulling off retro vibey hairs)* Aaaaaaahhhh-

    Great information! What about starting bangs further back? Will that make a round face and short forehead look longer

    people with thin fine hair should have a very blunt cut as you have super correctly said!
    so can you still get curtain bangs or will that remove volume from the baseline and make it look weak?

    I've had bangs for my whole life.😂
    I actually think side parts are what makes women look fantabulous, look at Drew Barrymore lately, her middle part looked horrible, her new side part makes her look great and younger. 👍🏻

    Hi Gabi, I have a long-ish face, and like you always look better with some volume to the sides. I recently had my hair cut from quite long into a bob, which i absolutely love, and i was considering adding a fringe or more likely just shortening the layers around my face a little to give it a little more style and less weight at the front. However I also have quite a long nose and my one, long ago attempt at a fringe was not a good look for me. I wonder if you could give me any advise on this? Thank you for you videos, I have been binge watching since I found your channel recently and learnt so much that has helped me!

      Hi there. I have a clavi cut and thinking about a long bob or even shorter. I have akinda curtainfringe but long.. I have the same features as you. Oblong. My cheekbones are good and prominent, my nose is prominent, too, people consider me as the apperance of a blonde native american ;) well is it okay to say blonde squaw.
      I d love to hear what she is recommending for you, as I have the same question in mind.. I don t want to look like face all closed up and I am ok with my higher forehead, but I want my cheekbones accentuated and not hidden. I wonder if a bottleneck fringe wouldbe a good ides.
      Do you have fine hair? Mine is fine and superstraighg. Iwave it with a curling iron..
      Saying hi to you and hope we get an advise

    I have no idea what my face shape is... lol Heart, Diamond, Oblong...?
    I had bangs in my early 20s... I was really into shag back then. Lots of texture... I really wanted lots of volume. LOL!
