@@MorganRoy I've been trying to 'explain' this very concept to my hairdresser for years. She is a very talented stylist and colorist which is why I stick with her. I'm going to bring it up one.more.time. to see if this video will help me get my point across. I have two 'vertical lines' on either side of my face which I feel closes my face in and makes it appear narrower than it is. I want my cheekbones cut out and the side pieces blended in with the forehead....just as you did here. Questions: do you have a salon and if so, where is it?
This educator is wonderful. The first thing I do in a consultation is pull the hair away from the face and assess the face shape. Before I cut, I assess the hairline and density.
I have been through at least 40 hairdressers and have yet to walk out happy. I always have to wash & restyle my hair. They seem to be afraid to do anything drastic, even when asked. I also take a few photos of styles that have the same texture of hair as mine. They just trim, or trim a lot(version of drastic i guess). I end up cutting & colouring my own hair, on & off since i was 15.
This is a rare find! A hairdresser who actually looks at the client's face shape and takes so many things into consideration. Hairdressers I've been to in the past all seem to have their own preset ideas on what they think I should have and they take no notice of what I say. I also end up with so much of my hair being cut into the fringe, which isn't good when you have fine hair. They seem to pride themselves on the speed at which they cut hair and not the precision. I guess I'll just have to start cutting my hair myself again.
Laura Biding I’m sorry that hear that you haven’t been able to find a good hairdresser that listens. As an educator this is why I share knowledge. Hopefully this video will help.
As a former hairdresser who used to get timed on haircuts( Great Clips is one such place) some hairstylists at some salons can't spend a lot of time on haircuts. We would have performance reviews and if our haircut average was off from what the company wanted, we could get written up or fired.
Why should I tell all of this to the hairdresser??? Isn’t that their job? Unfortunately most hairdressers I’ve been to don’t even look at your face shape, there’re just like ‘I’ll do what you want’ well hello I’m asking for YOUR advice, you’re the professional. I guess it’s reflected in the hairdressers price. No more cheaper hairdressers for me. They just do everything automatically.
@@kermittime6507 I'm sorry that's been your experience. I'm a cosmetologist. I do look at people's faces. Yes, we are the professionals. However, we are not mind readers. It's always a good idea to have a few photos of different styles you like then we can go from there and help you decide what will look good on you. Of course there are times when you will choose pictures that won't suit your hair color, texture, length, etc. but a good stylist can then explain why and make recommendations. Insider tip. Just because a salon is expensive versus a 'chop shop' does not guarantee that you're going to leave loving your new look or your cut/color. You need to ask what their actual experience and education are. Find people who have hair you love and ask them who they go to. Finally, I've been a Cosmetologist for 25 and have worked at both high and low end salons. For me going to a hair salon is a nightmare. I know EXACTLY what I want, I know it'll look great on me, and yes, I know it's a bit "unusual", but it's my choice. Guess what I almost always end up with? A bleeegh haircut. 😾 I just cut my own fringe and I'm super happy. Hopefully my bff will cut the rest of my hair.
CL4H I am definitely not suggesting that it’s a hairdressers job to read my mind. Funny you say bring pictures. I already do that. And I know cases where a person explained very clearly with pictures what they want and what they do not want and ended up with exactly what they didn’t want. So how else am I supposed to talk to a hairdresser? That’s what I’m saying it doesn’t matter so much what the client explains, it’s a hairdressers job to assess your head and face shape type of your hair and how and what hair will suit the whole look.
I just cut my own bangs, I've been wanting to do that for a while, but I was scared of messing up. It was a total success, I got way more compliments today than I could handle!! Still, I'm so happy I did it 💇
This is the first time I've heard a hairdresser speak about checking out the client's hairline. This is so important, and yet it seems that hairdressers aren't trained in this. The "hairline" may be crooked, but as long as they cut the "hair" straight, then they're good to go.
What a difference this stylist made opening up her face with proper cutting of the bang...before the curtain was straight across making her look frumpy...but voila, the new bang was light airy, and made her look prettier! I think she needed to cut some of the length off to complete the look. Wow, short snips all the way down and along the side of the face made a big difference too. This was masterful. Great stylist, we more of you that know what you are doing to enhance the shape of the face. What a cute cut on the stylist too.
Since I cut my own most of the time, I can really appreciate you taking into consideration so many things! Don't know any other hairdresser who does. Kudos!

Great tips Morgan darlin I'am 56 years old and have had bangs my whole life since the 60's when I was 5 years old I have always cut my own and cut the middle of my bang just a snip higher but blend in the focal point as you call it as well as my sides and I look great in them and Iam living proof your never to old to have them .I do have a callic that blends in and looks cool. I must add your right in telling the hair dresser how you want to cut it because all hair dressers cut hair different Ive learned as an example if you go to an Asian hair dresser Ive learned they layer hair different then an American hair dresser does. The Asian hair dresser told me they cut it differently and I did like there cut better . tks for sharring great tips👍

I’m watching this professional video, almost taking notes when in reality I know I’m going to disregard all of it and chop off all my hair and mess up my face 😭 lmao
Mareeha Masood thanks for your question. Maybe try a side swept bang, it’s the little black dress of bangs and complements all faces. I have a new tutorial for them. 💕
So lockdown is going on currently. Thanks to Covid-19, and I wanted to have bangs in my round plump face. I went through random tutorials(except this crucial video) on youtube and cut my own bangs last week. The only problem was I did it on my wet hair. So after drying up, the bangs looked short and awful. Now I'm thinking of going 1 extra inch up near to the top portion of my head and cutting the rest of the hair down to my eyebrow length. Any tips?? It would mean a lot if I get an answer. Particularly when there are no shops open in this part of the world: India. And you got a new subscriber as well. :)
Roompa Mahato thanks for your comment. I suggest for a rounder face a side swept bang like a do in my other fringe video on my friend Karen. Let me know how it goes 💕
Can you tell me if I should get bangs? I have a round/square face with a smaller forehead. I do sports so I kinda want them out of the way. My hair is thicccccc and can decide if it wants to be curly some days or wavy other days.
Kira Hofer Because you do a lot of sports, be prepared that having bangs will need time and attention to look good. Side swept bangs are a safe way to incorporate bangs into your look. Good luck 👍🏻
Thank you TH-cam Algorithm for this video. I want you as my stylist. I always wanted front curtain bangs but my forehead is small and i have a round face. I think you can give me that flattering look.
Ana VALENZUELA for sure you can have bangs. The point I’m trying to make is that a bang will be a focal point (drawing attention) to features. If you love your nose then rock a bang but if your self-conscious then you might not like it. Something universally faltering is side swept bang because the eye follows the diagonal line.
Maybe find a new hairdresser, I have a fairly small forehead and I still have bangs, it’s very much possible all I think they have to do is just start the bangs higher up
When I wanted to get bangs my hairdresser said he was gonna do it and then I told him I want a lighter bang with less hair bc I have really thin and not much hair. She said she wouldn't be able to cut it that thin with my hair so the bangs she recommended where 1/3 of my actual hair..I mean it didn't look bad but it wasn't what I wanted so I grew it out and after it grew to chin length I cut it myself the way I wanted it before and it was exactly how I wanted it since then I always cut it myself if I want one
Find another hair stylist. I once had a hair stylist tell me that bangs wouldn't look good on me. But, I knew bangs would look good on me cause I had bangs as a kid. So, I found a different hair stylist to cut them and I've had bangs ever since. I look better with bangs.
Really well explained! 👏🏻 Would you recommend a Brigitte Bardot bang for an oblong face? I have a small head and thin face, my hair is fine and straight. I'm bored of my look.
Mina yes! This fringe is ideal for a longer face shape. Plus if your hair is fine and straight it should be easier to style than done other hair types. Remember that hair is only a semipermanent change 😉
Sooo cool a person can look so amazingly good in a haircut like the hairdresser has. I would look like a complete idiot in that haircut but for her it brings out her beauty so well
Wow, the trimming of the fringe changed her look from tired to elegant. It is really hard to find a good, knowledgeable hairdresser.
Kam Esperanza thanks 🙏

I’m watching this professional video, almost taking notes when in reality I know I’m going to disregard all of it and chop off all my hair and mess up my face 😭 lmao
Very interesting demo, wish i could show it to my hairdresser, she always ruins my fringe ....dont know why i keep going back!!!!!
Show it to them. I teach hairdressers for a living so they shouldn’t be offended.
Beautiful! Very professional.
I have a big nose but an uneven forehead because of my hairline, what kind of bangs should I get? Btw loved the video!
Mareeha Masood thanks for your question. Maybe try a side swept bang, it’s the little black dress of bangs and complements all faces. I have a new tutorial for them. 💕
@@MorganRoy thank you so much! ❤️
When you finish, please show the before and after image to compare the different of her look.
Great video!!!!!!!! A true talent .... Thank you for your attention to detail and effort, you deserve a great career.
She looks beautiful
this is the best video on bangs I have seen , thanks heaps xx
Lol I always cut my own hair so I'm gonna use some of these tips!
Wow! Alex looks great! Her hair is very pretty :)
The blondes hair cut ❤️❤️
Both of them r so pretty.
From one Morgan to another. This was pretty cool. So are you.
Moe & Dee thanks 🙏 I’m glad you think so 💕
Great content! I'm wondering what would look nice on a round face w big nose? Seems like nothing in practice would work out
Dalia Yousef try side swept bangs
Curtain bangs
Wow the model is beautiful
I love your videos. And it would be great if you could put a before and after picture at the end of the videos.
Thanks for the idea. I’ll try to incorporate a before and after picture going forward 💖
Hii!! I want to make my face appear more rounder and shorter! What type of bangs should i do?
Ive been wanting to get bangs for so long. I want a type of "soft bangs" if you look up "As If It's Your Last Rose bangs" you'll know what I mean.
My face is long and i have big forhead and i want to balance my lower part(thin) of my face with the top what kind of bang i have to chosse?
Thank you TH-cam Algorithm for this video. I want you as my stylist. I always wanted front curtain bangs but my forehead is small and i have a round face. I think you can give me that flattering look.
thanks for watching, hopefully you will enjoy more of my video's as well
Hi you left me with a doubt. If my nose is big I shouldn't have bangs? Or what style of bangs you suggest?
Ana VALENZUELA for sure you can have bangs. The point I’m trying to make is that a bang will be a focal point (drawing attention) to features. If you love your nose then rock a bang but if your self-conscious then you might not like it. Something universally faltering is side swept bang because the eye follows the diagonal line.
@@MorganRoy Thank you fir answering and for the tip.
How to find the right hair dresser?
Dogi that’s a tuff one. I’ll make a video ASAP to help answer your question 💕
I love bangs but I hairdresser I visited told me I can't have bangs becoz of my short forehead ,damn it actually break my heart 😞,
You're lucky. My forehead is huge and makes me look bald so thats why im considering bangs.
@@ula346 same here. I've never NOT had bangs bc of my dang forehead.
What would you recommend for a small square shaped face?😅
Really well explained! 👏🏻 Would you recommend a Brigitte Bardot bang for an oblong face? I have a small head and thin face, my hair is fine and straight. I'm bored of my look.
Mina yes! This fringe is ideal for a longer face shape. Plus if your hair is fine and straight it should be easier to style than done other hair types. Remember that hair is only a semipermanent change 😉
Omg the model is staring right into my soul. She’s not even blinking
I really like the long bang, do you have a salon in northern ca?
Sooo cool a person can look so amazingly good in a haircut like the hairdresser has. I would look like a complete idiot in that haircut but for her it brings out her beauty so well
Morgan you have a fab hairstyle!
BEAUTIFUL ! Thank you for sharing. God bless you.
thank you
