To my knowledge it is only the second time there have been three. All three ANA A380s were here because of a typhoon near Japan earlier this year. Unfortunately it was the middle of the night.
I remember when something like this happened at ATL when we had a British Airways A380 do a scheduled flight and they usually only use the 777 and 787 and Airfrance operated their A330-200 (used for Caribbean and African Routes) to ATL too
@ReverseOps actually the only physical part of the job is hooking up both hoses on to the fueling cams, the fun part is watching your meter go apeshit spinning like it's on crack 🤣
Nothing like flying in a big airplane, but it comes as a big price when you need to divert. Not many airports can support the A380, for runway size and weight capacity, along with the taxiways. Having a medical emergency in flight leaves very few options. You better not have an emergency because you are forced to continue to the destination, and that might take many hours to get there. I would take a Boeing 787 over a A380 for a diversion because there are more options for diversion airports.
On touchdown, did anyone else find it weird how Engine 4 is facing the camera? In fact do both 1 and 4 face a bit inward?? Why … or even if it’s an illusion, how?
It was a medical emergency (heart attack). Happened a few hours into the flight there was a call for any doctor on board. Overnight passenger got worse, call was made to divert. Passenger and his travel companion got off. Plane stayed on tarmac and paseenges stayed on. I was on this flight. Qantas staff did an amazing job. I'm flying again on Saturday so expect it to happen again then 😂
@@benjamingalaxy thanks for the real truth and hope all went ok for the passenger and wasn’t too inconvenient. My flight from Melbourne on QF 93 last Monday was cancelled 😞 It’s the first time in my flying years I have had this happen so beginning to worry about the A380s which are my favourite aircraft but perhaps the 4 years in the desert have not helped. Cheers. John.
The essence of photography. Being at the right place at the right time.
Very true!
You did a great job capturing this plane.
Thanks Jen!
The Big Roo with two of the Big Turtles. Nice catch Patrick of the herd. Saw it live yesterday thank you.
It was quite a sight! Thanks for watching!
I wonder if ANA ever flew their A380s to Australia or if Qantas ever flew their A380s to Japan.
05:10 Might be the most A380s on the ground at the same time at HNL.
Hope all is well with the passenger needing attention.

Lets hope the passenger survived, this drama never made the news. Qantas is in a very different mode now Alan Joyce has departed
Thankfully never seen in Australia again.
I was on that plane it landed in Oahu because of a medical emergency
Thanks for the info. Hope you enjoyed your very short stay in Hawaii!
Amazing catch Patrick!! One you will never forget..... Unless they land again. 😅
Thanks Brandon!
Thanks for sharing this Patrick
You're welcome!

That’s interesting! I don’t recall that but ATL is a big hub.
10/10 for landing thanks you Patrick ❤❤
YW, thanks for watching!
If the A-380 was diverted from LAX to Sydney it would have been QF12. QF11 is the flight from Sydney to LAX,
This was going from SYD to LAX.
@@ReverseOps Yes, well it did not quite read that way.
Thanks for sharing. It was a great capture .. The ANA liveries are stunning. Hope the pax is getting better 🙏 😊
You're welcome! Hope so too.
Absolutely fantastic catches 👏
Thank you very much!
✈️. Right on Patrick 👍! Mahalo for sharing the clip.
My pleasure!!
Butter, butter, butter. What a beautiful landing.
3rd time QF's 388 landed due to a medical emergency, i fueled that thing twice.
Awesome, sounds like a fun but hard job.

Beautiful video work.

Good point! But I would still take an A380 over a Dreamliner.
What would have happened if this happened while flying to Johannesburg ? Where would it land?
11:05 I'll miss the planes flying into 8L at night. 96706; I don't might the sounds.
I would love to live where I could planespot from my back yard!
Great camera work!
Beauty!
Wow nice catch and great camera work! Btw what camera are you using? Video is very clear.
Thank you! It is a Sony NX800.
Just wondering if the passengers got to disembark? The Qantas airport staff at HNL are not use to servicing an A380.
On touchdown, did anyone else find it weird how Engine 4 is facing the camera?
In fact do both 1 and 4 face a bit inward?? Why … or even if it’s an illusion, how?
Ooh great video!! Where do you spot at HNL?? Ill be going in February
The two main spots are both on Lagoon Dr. First is at the very end. The GA parking lot. This video is from the corner of Lagoon Dr and Kalewa St
@ReverseOps alright thank you!!!
Don't know about the a380 but the qantas b747 the roo was 24foot tall
Wow, that's crazy big.
I suspect it was diverted due to a sick passenger cause a few hours later it flew on to LAX
Caption says it Was diverted from LAX to HNL
So it flew back to LAX?
@ incorrect. According to flight radar 24 it was flying in from Sydney when it diverted to HNL. After a few hours in HNL, it continued on to LAX
What's the destination after taking off from. HNL ?
@ Los Angeles (LAX)
The flight number is QF11....that's the Sydney to Los Angeles leg.
Doesn't ANA fly there nice big coloured 380's in there?
5:25 here it is.
Do you mean the same ones that you saw in the video when you watched it?
How long was it there? Did passengers get off?
No we stayed on, only the sick passenger and his companion deplaned.
Did they have to dump fuel?
No, but they were heavy enough that they had to go full length on 8L. That is very unusual even for A380s.
So why the diversion from LAX to HNL?
a medical emergency
what happened?
@@landonrosas8162 Medical episode onboard
Reason for divert?
Someone in the chat said medical but I also heard Swissport mechanics were looking at the right main landing gear.

They had medical emergency
Also president of Taiwan arrived on that China airlines that same morning
I caught that one as well. You can see it in the livestream replay.
Insane Japan sends so many big planes to Hawaii every day
