The GOAT of aviation is back! So sad to see the community of kangerlussuaq lose their main source of revenue and industry, but I do believe this will open up Greenland to more tourism. Hope you enjoyed your trip over there Quintin, and thanks for another great review!
The Danish military, Arctic Command, is going to expand its presence in Kangerlussuaq. The runway will be improved, so that Sea Guardian drones and F-35s can operate from there.
Thanks for the fascinating journey. As an Australian I love to see how the rest of the work lives, and Greenland is one that I might never visit but I'll always admire. It show how people can live anywhere in the world, end even enjoy it, in conditions I can hardly imagine. And they seem to be so happy and relaxed!
Appreciate the captivating experience. Being Vietnamese, I enjoy learning about how others live across the globe. Greenland, a place I may never have the chance to visit, continues to inspire my admiration. It demonstrates how humans can thrive and even find joy in environments that are beyond my imagination. The people seem incredibly content and at ease
I was going to say the same thing. I know little about the local culture, although I have flown to Greenland numerous times, to deliver cargo. I have interacted with the local people, and I really liked them. Very friendly, very relaxed and pretty funny. I've heard a couple of complaints about severe depression, from some of them, but it's not surprising. What aircraft do you fly? Much respect to you and be safe!
Great video! It's kinda sad they discontinued some flights, but it is exciting that Nuuk Airport is now Air Greenland's new primary hub. I hoping to visit Greenland some day :)
Thank you! Greenland is incredible and I recommend visiting. United, Icelandic, and SAS will start flying to Nuuk next summer as well, so there's many ways to get there!
Yes they're actively building infrastructure for their tourism sector! I honestly recommend avoiding Nuuk though because it lacks the charm and nature you'll find in Ilulissat or Kujalleq
NUUK IS A VERY WONDERFUL PLACE TO SEE ! Do not miss it as we enjoyed our 5 nights stay there ! Go on a Day Cruise to see the Icebergs and others ! It looks and feels like you are in ANTARCTICA WHICH WE LOVED WHEN WE WENT THERE IN MARCH 2015 on an EXPEDITION SHIP ! Thnx 👍
Hello Quintin. Thanks for this wonderful video. It was a pleasure to see another airline, which is seen not so often. Although the farewell party was nice. The ground crew and all the workers make this video unique. I have not seen a A330-800 before. Thanks for this great farewell video.
Great video mate. Sad to see that Air Greenland haven't allowed you on media flights. I've had no love from Qantas either. I suspect they prefer the high profile youtuber (ie Sam) who they can ensure will say positive things rather than smaller youtuber who are less predictable. I enjoy your style and keep it up!
A very wonderful video documenting the flight on the beautiful plane and the services of its crew. What I liked was the food and sweets. Yes, everything is very beautiful. ❤❤❤ An Algerian 🇩🇿 passed by 🙋♂️
Wonderful video from the best video creator on youTube! Great filming of gorgeous scenery, a definite 5/5 star Jamani rating! Well done Quebec Foxtrot Sierra and thanks for sharing this historic event!!
Thank you so very much for posting this video and for sharing this historic flight with us. I visited Greenland last year and spent 48 hrs in Kangerlussuaq. The tiny settlement stole a piece of my heart. I was fascinated by everything about it. It saddens me to think how things will change for the community and what emotions the locals are dealing with. I really hope the potential is seen as the back country there has so much beauty. Watching this fitting tribute to the place has made my day.
I completely relate, Kangerlussuaq is really unique and full of history! I hope you got a chance to hike up the mountain behind the airport, it's a steep trek but the view was totally worth it. I'm really hoping the town can survive without the hub, and I think it will. A few jobs will relocate to Nuuk but with the military activity, year round Albatros tours, and the cruise port, they should be okay!
@@QFSAviation Yes, I did hike up there and the picture with Tuukkaq is now my screensaver at work 🙂Fingers crossed they will make the transition from transport hub to tourist base. I did three excusrions with Albatros and they were great!
An excellent video, Quintin! Thank you for filming a historic moment for Greenland & its airline. You do a great job at covering everything! Your videos convince me on wanting to visit Greenland next summer :)
A bittersweet flight. Thanks for the great footage! I hope the people of Kangerlussuaq will successfully adapt to the change of status of their airport!
21:43 - That ATR-72 is from Air Alsie. It belongs to Sonderborg Airport in Als. I live in Denmark, and i live near that Airport, so every time it takes off or lands, i can see and hear it fly 500 feet above our house. I love that plane. And ive flied with it many times 😅 I also love the Airbus A330’s. Sadly they discontinued most of their flights. But i still liked this video :) It was great. Great work. Keep it up ;)
Quintin, I enjoyed seeing this final A330 flight from Kangerlussuaq to Copenhagen. I hope that you were able to get a seat on the inaugural flight of the A330 from Copenhagen to Nuuk that took place this past Thursday. I have seen videos of the A330 landing at the new airport in Nuuk with its expanded runways and it brought me joy to see the joy in the residents of Nuuk who turned up in force to watch the landing. Seeing their excitement and especially the children excitedly dancing as the A330 touched down in Nuuk was heartwarming. It looked like the entire town of Nuuk turned up for the historic event and it even created a major traffic jam around the airport! Probably a first for Nuuk! Their excitement is understandable as this new airport will open Nuuk to the world. I suspect soon there will be direct flights to major North American cities so their tiny world just got a lot bigger. I suspect that for the airport ground workers in Kangerlussuaq whose jobs have been made redundant with this move, many, if not most, will be offered relocation to Nuuk which from what I have seen is a much better place to live in Greenland - probably the only place to live given its first-rate amenities. As a side note, a few years ago, when Bombardier was developing the C-Series, I emailed Bombardier's sales team suggesting that they try selling the C-Series (A-220) to Air Greenland because, with a modest extension at Nuuk, it could serve the capital with jet service for the first time connecting Nuuk with Europe and North America. I never got a reply from Bombardier, but in the intervening years, it looks like they made more than just modest extensions, which is all for the better! There may still be opportunities for Airbus to sell the A-220 to Air Greenland to serve long but thin routes. They are not going to be able to fill up A-330s everywhere they fly in Europe and North America.
What a great flight. Mixed feelings about this, happy because finally between two capitals inside the Denmark Kingdom having direct flight without plane changing, but bit sad for someone who are working and living in Kangerlussuaq, because they will miss the big red and looks like the only biggest civil plane who visited this airport is the big red. Anyway congratulations for Nuuk, finally they can receive big airplane like A330.
Allright, it's 35.5f here in Seattle. I'm sitting next to my sliding glass door that's wide open. I consider that pretty insane for tolerance to the cold. However, the fellow at 7:28 and I have a serious competition going on!!!
Nice farewell Video of Air Greenland’s LAST flight from KANGERLUSSUAQ AIRPORT ! It brings me Happy and Sad memory as we just been in NUUK, GREENLAND 🇬🇱 in AUGUST 2024 where I celebrated my B- Day coming from Sydney, Australia! 🇦🇺! Sad because our Return flight from there to Copenhagen was cancelled twice with no valid reason and wasted our 3 nights stay in Copenhagen for a visit! But it was ok ! Thnx for Sharing Indeed! 👍🇦🇺
@ Yeah I assumed, it’s a shame air Greenland doesn’t allow you on their inaugurals, which is really weird because you’re likely responsible for 90% of Air Greenland enthusiasts as the first TH-camr to cover their operations
Great video on a historic flight. Sorry to hear about your problems with Air Greenland; I guess stalking the public relations lady like a certain other TH-camr did would be out of the question.
It's so funny to look at the number of ice cream freezers in the terminal building. It seems that passengers are not satisfied with the constant frost outside, that they want to buy more ice cream. And this is in Greenland! Where there is nothing but frost.
I didn't quite understand, so Kangerlussuaq airport with the A330neo, so the plane will not be withdrawn, but it will no longer operate from Kangerlussuaq airport but from Nuuk
Yes exactly. The aircraft has operated between Kangerlussuaq and Copenhagen for decades until Tuesday. Now it’s permanently shifted over to Nuuk (Nuuk to Copenhagen). Kangerlussuaq will only receive Dash 8’s (from Nuuk) because it’s not large enough to support anything bigger. Although in the summertime Albatross tours will charter a JetTime 737 from Copenhagen
Not large enough to support anything bigger? Well it used to be large enough to host that red big beauty. Just name it, moving to Nuuk is a gov decision, bc they want their flagship plane to connect the capital. Understandable, and I hope they support the ground staff with moving over to Nuuk as well. Hope not too many jobs will be lost.

I once flew on SAS from CPH to Kangerlussuaq and went from there on the boat going up to Ummanaq and Illuisaat. Yes, Nuuk is the capital, but far away from what Greenland can offer

As Icelandair is slated to take its first A321LR flight to the US from May 7, I'd suggest attending the Inaugural flight, as well as trying out Icelandair's 737 MAX between Orlando and Keflavik. Delta has also introduced a new Domestic First Class product, along with JetBlue's Restyled cabin on the A320, which I'd suggest trying out.
