    I've worked in the fashion industry for 25 years. 12 years at the corporate level for companies like Nike and True Religion. I cosign all the tips in the vid and add folks can also shop at outlets. Some stores develop products specifically for outlets but most sell excess inventory, older season styles/colors, or products with slight imperfections at a discounted price.

    #2 is the best tip ever! I just got back from Paris last week and I learned this at Chanel and Hermes. You have to bring your passport because they need the number for the VAT tax paper, but otherwise it’s super easy and I scanned the paper at the kiosk at the airport. It said I should get the tax refunded to my card in 30 days. Also, the Hermes sales associate said you DO NOT need to buy thousand of dollars in their merchandise before you can buy a Birkin or Kelly, they only make you do that in NYC. You DO need to make an appointment at the flagship store and you cannot request colors, you have to take whatever they have in inventory that day. A entry level Birkin in NY is $10,000, in Paris it’s $8,000. U.S. customs didn’t ask me anything when I got back, but if you do it too often you can get a fine for not declaring your items. The Chanel sales associate said he had a customer from NYC that got a big fine for not declaring but she did big purchases a few times a year.

      Not sure what the Hermès sales associate was up as that is not accurate. Having spend ratios of 2:1 or 3:1 are very common at Hermès boutiques worldwide to get a quota bag (Birkin/Kelly/Constance). 😢

    I learned this only recently too. Luxury brands only have certain room in their warehouses and stores, so other clothing stores get the ‘scraps’ at a reduced price so the next season’s clothing can dominate.
    Think about it, when summer is over, August and Winter catalogues will start to flood shelves.

    Some shoe and purse repair places also consign designer items and even go a step further to get them authenticated....benefits of living in or near an area where people are wealthier. In speaking to a consignment shop owner, a down turn in economics brings out more inventory...people sell to get cash....if you have money to buy at that time, The prices are also competitive.... And you can't forget costco sells sunglasses. . . The trend is that the inventory is from previous seasons.

      Sorry Viv, $2500 to 3500 for a book bag??? No way. If I had it, I'd be spending it on the travel itself. And all this chasing after designer this and that is just perpetuating the drive to be "exclusive" women should not judge themselves by what glamour items they can or can not afford. Be yourself. That's great enough.

    I use to work at a Marshall’s on the upper west side in Manhattan and we always got high end brand stuff. The only thing we couldn’t do was put them in the window since those same stores were in the area. There was this one time of year, probably in the summer or late spring, when we’d get a lot more than usual. Even by our prices, they’d cost at least $1,000 and up.

    Not making upto a million before retirement is an unfulfilled retirement. I’m 54 and my wife is 50 . We are both retired with over $3million in net worth and no debts. Currently living smart and frugal with our money. No longer putting blames on the FED for our misfortunes. Saving and investing lifestyle in the stock market made it possible for us this early. Even till now, we earn weekly.

      I feel one Of the greatest challenges that we first timers face in the ma rket is that we end up losing all we have,making it difficult to find ourselves back to our feet. My biggest advice is to always seek the services of a professional just like I did when I ventured into it for the first time. Big thanks to Larysa Caba. I now make huge profits by weekly through her services while still learning to stand on my own.

    Cannot believe that Whatnot was not mentioned. Highly recommend, many sellers who are authenticated are selling luxury items at auctions. You can bid and get many steals. I’ve bought Chanel, Hermes, Gucci at over $1,000-$2000 under retail for each. They are typically pre owned items in good great condition.

    I would worry about spending thousands for a used handbag online. I watched a documentary about how super-fakes are now being produced and they are such good quality fakes that it’s hard for authenticators to tell the difference. I think the only way they would truly know is by tearing them apart to see what’s inside

    • @cotus2
      @cotus2 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If the fakes are so hard to authenticate it means they’re amazing quality. I don’t own neither designer nor replicas but I got into reading about replicas during pandemic and I’ve seen fake Chanel actually being of better quality than the brand. It was 10x less. I think big brands need to get better at the QC because with what is going on I’m not surprised ppl are turning into replicas

    • @SL-lz9jr
      @SL-lz9jr 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Considering sometimes fakes are returned to the stores… mostly department stores where it’s less likely to be caught, there’s no totally safe way to buy luxury. Then again, I always treat it as a gamble anyway. If it looks real to me, it’s good enough to wear. Obviously I hope that what I buy is the real deal but life’s too short to worry over consumer goods.

    • @HN-db5cn
      @HN-db5cn 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@cotus2the replica if you get it from the top tier sellers are better than the real bags. I got a LV neverfull that is way better quality than the real ones. You can’t tell the difference I had it side by side with the real one that a relative had. I have Chanel bags, most replica men shoes are the best I got my husband Hermés, Lv shoes he said they are comfortable and the leather quality are great. So are the belts. It’s crazy how real it looks and feel. I have so many top quality replica that I am tired of designer things. I now prefer quality over name brands. To be honest I feel they could possibly be made from the same factory.

      Cuz every state has different % tax. Companies don’t use price tags for every different state. the same physical item can end up in different stores in different states. I live in Canada and we have provinces here and it’s the same deal

    • @Erundilme
      @Erundilme 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @BleedingxRainbow different stores can have different prices on the same product anyway, so it is really pointless. the price tag should reflect product's acual cost, period. why should you care what is the price in some other state, the only thing that's important is how much you will pay right now.

Why spend $90 on Ann Taylor or Express suits when I can find a Hermes, LV, Dior, Oscar Dlarenta, Ralph Lauren or other designers for the same price? There’s also estate sales. People sell stuff for all sorts of reasons and consignment shops have gone on line. Plus you help the environment and look great too. Unless your in the industry who cares if a piece is last season or 10 seasons ago. Some styles are timeless and can fit any season.

It’s just different preferences, interests, and styles. I love traveling but I would love to travel while wearing a designer outfit. Best of both worlds because why not?!

    What a joke. Hermes sample sales are by invitation only and usually with a sales history. This is old news and outdated click bait. Also to be financially responsible as a "rich bff", you wouldn't think this channel would enable a luxury addiction and send people to sales that usually want to sell their weird and unattractive seasonal stock surplus. If you want to spend your money well, don't buy 5 steeply discounted belts you'll barely wear. A fraction of that money could have been well spent on a single retail priced classic belt that you truly love. Just feeding the culture of over consumption and disposal of consumer goods.

      That’s up to you, to the person who buys stuff. I have 19 dolce&gabbana Sicily bags. What do I do with them? Never take them out, I walk around my house with one for about 10 mins, put it back into its slot in my bag organizers, and next time, I’ll take out another one. Why I do that? Because I enjoy this activity very much as a pastime. So don’t try to understand what others do, jsut do what you want to do
