  • My amazing Vancouver 2010 Olympic experience capped off with Sidney Crosby scoring in overtime to win the Gold Medal Hockey Game for Canada. Non-stop action leading up to the game-winning goal. I was lucky enough to be recording and capture the moment!

Watching this still gives me the chills, and being from Vancouver I get emotional. No other nationality will ever understand how much this meant to us, to win gold in Hockey, on home ice. Hockey is, and will always be Canada's game!

It was amazing! I was in Van for this too. And what a street party after. But I'd say now years later that Neymar's goal @ the 2016 Brazil Oly's was the equivalent of this, and gave Brazilians that same home country hero moment in a sport that they are just as insanely passionate about.

probably the most exciting 3 hours of sports i've ever seen in my life. what an incredible game. this is why i love hockey. Sid the Kid really set himself as a great this game. So much respect for him and the rest of that team. the USA showed some heart but we came up short. I'm an american and this is the greatest hockey game i've ever seen. Kudos to Canada, you earned it.

it was a great win but the 72 series against the USSR far exceeds this for drama and what it ment. It was more than just a gsame for a gold medel. It was a fight to prove whos was the better way of life. Democracy or Communism . We had to win.
Even though I was young I realised what was at stake. We all knew about the cold was as we were growing up in it and short of firing wepons this series was war, West against the East. I have no idea of what would have happened had we lost, but it would have effected the way we precieved the way we looked at our game. The end of the game 4 in Vancouver proved that when Team Canada was Booed off the ice after another loss.
It was a feeling that persisted after the series as well. I remenber after the New Years Eve match beween the Red Army and the Canadians that ended 3-3. Peter Mahovalic was interviewed and he apologized to the country for not winning. Yes these were just games but they were and felt much more at the time.

Idk about that, the US beating Russia and then going on to win the gold at home in Lake Placid was ten times more monumental than this and it's not even close.

@@anonymouslyawesome895 nah, Canadians have always cared about hockey, and probably always will.
      This ain't the U.S.A. here.
Hockey has been the biggest sport in Canada for decades, and was bigger than Canada's "national" sport at the time.
When you think Canada you think hockey, and that'll probably never change.

    • @THE-WAY_THE-TRUTH_THE-LIFE.
      @THE-WAY_THE-TRUTH_THE-LIFE. 3 ปีที่แล้ว +32

@@Partypoppers55 no way was that more monumental..
Notice how no one ever really mentions it, and that underdog story has happened too much in games now, that it's no longer impressive.
The U.S. had won the most medals at the 2010 winter Olympics, and no one even talks about it, because most people were focusing on Canada. Not just because Canada finally won a gold medal while hosting at home, but they also had set a new record for the most gold medals won by a hosting Country at the time.
Them beating the arch rival Americans in a close call, in the most important game of the Olympics/year, in the biggest sport in the country.
(And the Canadian women's ice hockey team wnning gold before the men made it more big of a deal when the men won.)
Canada was on top of the world that year, and all these things combined is what made this win so special.
I agree that what the U.S.A. did was great, but I wouldn't consider it to be more monumental than this.

Who knew four years later ,at the same time that the 2014 olympics was going on, that my grandmother went ill and died. And there I was watching the US getting there ass kicked in the bronze medal game. But this time she was not with me, we where at her house to pack up her things. Sid was born for this moment, no doubt in my mind the universe lined this all up. Top 5 moment for sure in all sports.

I'm not a hockey fan but I follow Sid's development as an accomplish player since 2005, and this Golden Gold moment still deeply engraved in my mind. You can see his persistent and tenacity in his games.

I was 7 years old. Ryan Miller was my hero. I cried on the couch for a good bit of time after that goal.

Under normal circumstances, I would complain about a shaky camera. But this occasion was just too damn good to complain! And way to exciting to even hold a camera! I would have probably dropped mine 10 rows down! Great filming, and GO CANADA GO!!!

Wow I love this POV/angle! Makes it super easy to follow the action from one end to the other, and it makes you feel close to the game too!
I actually found it better than most angles we see in NHL games.

me too, and you can see how great the players really are, how fast they skate, even Crosby skating up the ice at the end, the puck tied to his stick, almost going through the entire team prior to scoring

I was 19 , this olympics was crazy! The memories, the canadian pride, the montage at the end, the start where it looked grim because of protesters and an athlete dying to a country reuniting ! Im sure Vancouver is paying this off for a decade still but man this was magical! And I hope we get a winter olympics real soon

I remember watching the game and it looked like Crosby was so worn out that he wasn't even aiming anymore. I think he actually didn't even realize the puck went into the net until everyone started screaming. Either way, best fucking game ever. Ever 2 years later, I still squealed when he scored. We better win gold during the next olympics too.

As an American I can honestly saw this was one of the greatest games I have ever seen. Just to see two teams from two border countries go at it was incredible. USA has never really been great at hockey so for us to get to the gold medal game was an achievement itself. But the game itself was just unbelievable but someone had to loose it. But Congrats to Canada!
