I remember when I was desperately trying to get home from work to watch the gold medal game. I wasn't going to make it, and I felt a bit saddened as I walked into a Superstore to pick up some groceries... but what did I find when I walked into the store? Televisions set up EVERYWHERE broadcasting the game. The entire store, aside from the game being broadcasted over numerous TVs, was dead silent. Almost every customer in the store gathered to watch the game, as well as almost every STAFF MEMBER. The checkouts were almost empty. There was probably one or two open with no customers in line. Everyone was watching the game. When Canada scored, loud applause erupted throughout the store. When Canada won the game, there was so much cheering in the store that you would've thought you were at the game itself. Man, I love my country. Crazy how hockey brings us all together like this, but it does and I love it. I'm really patriotic, and the part of this video with the anthem totally brought a tear to my eye.

I was teaching English in South Korea in 2010 and had to wake up at 5:30 am to catch the game illegally on the internet. When Sid scored, I remember jumping up in the air with my hands raised for like 10 minutes straight- and I was alone! I think I cried sweet hoser tears, too.
I will never forget my whole family and all our friends crowded into one living room and everybody just hugging and screaming and crying. We did it. We truly won not just that hockey game but those winter Olympics. I will cherish those games forever.
I'm US citizen. But I grew up in Ontario. I skated before I could walk. I played hockey with the Canadian boys & I was damn good too. This was the proudest moment of my life. For my adopted country Canada. I love everything about Canada. My passport may say USA but my heart says Canada. Thank You Sidney Crosby. People here don't understand why I wear the Maple Leaf. Greatest moment in sports history. Oh Canada..........
I remember where I was when this happened, I was in my Communications Tech class, and the teacher had this playing on the projector while we were doing work on our laptops. When that final goal was scored, we all jumped up and screamed at the top of our lungs, and we could hear cheering and laughing all the way down the hallways from the other classes, truly a monumental moment I will never forget. Proud to be Canadian.
I get emotional watching this. I love this country. Greatest place on earth. From time to time I give my dad a big hug and thank you for bringing the family to Vancouver.
2010 was probably my favorite my favorite year because the Olympics brought our country together....especially during that last Hockey Game. I think that might of been the most watched hockey game in our history. HAPPY CANADA DAY
Probably the most watched hockey game of all time. I remember I had an exam that day and the teacher came in with a TV like: Fuck the exam, GO CANADA !
A fairy tale ending to a fairy tale Olympic Winter Games. I doubt there will ever be a Winter Games as memorable as this one. Canada, we look forward to the next time we meet on the ice under the rings, on our soil or on yours. And we expect just as much heart as you showed that day.
+AtarahDerek Thanks Atarah for the kind words from our BEST FRIENDS! It was truly special. The USA and Canada have the best hockey talent in the world! We had to be our best to win in 2010 and 2014. God bless both our nations! Forever brothers.
I'll never forget this - I screamed at the top of my lungs jumping up and down punching the air for a solid 2 or 3 minutes, then proceeded to go downtown with the buds, donning flags all lookin' like Captain Canada each and every once of us - biggest party I've ever been to. Fucking great memories - Canada eh?! Love it! :D
I agree with you, but sadly at the same time, Canada has been going downhill fast since about 2010 as well. Trudeau is a deep state globalist destroying our nation. And here I am just noticing I am replying to a 4 year old comment, oh well, still stands.
@@johnjohnnston3498 NONSENSE. DON'T SPEW THAT BS HERE, PLEASE. THERE IS NO deep state and Canada is NOT GOING DOWNHILL FAST. It is amongst the most well regarded nations on earth, and millions envy us having the compassionate, intelligent leader we have right now. Millions don't have that. Look south. :(
We need something like this again to bring the country together again. Something to give the Canadian people a sense of pride when they see our beautiful flag. It’s been taken away from all these freedom convoy fighters 😭
more than 8 years and still gives me the chills. I love watching canadians screaming, jumping, hugging each other and when they all sing the national anthem, wow, so nice to watch. This is what I love about Canada, we are a big family. Doesn't matter if you are black, white, or any other races, you are part of our family. That video makes me cry a little all the time. So proud of Canada. Love you all, cheers jp from ottawa
It was a pretty amazing feeling then and it still is today to know that an entire country from Vancouver to Labrador threw hands up in excitement and roared with cheer at the exact same moment on this incredible and historic day. It was truly a moment of coming together as one. There were no provinces or territories. We were simply and beautifully, Canada.
Over 11 years now wow feels like yesterday what a feeling of pure joy it was and still now gives me chills and goosebumps everytime I watch it. Thank you team canada and did and iggy iggy iggy for such a memory . Go Canada always
Oh the memories! I love reading everyones stories of where they were when this beautiful moment happened! Now I wanna share my story where I was when We won! I was at the hospital visiting a relatives and we where all watching this game on the tv and no joke every I mean EVERY ROOM was watching this hockey game even the nurses and doctors were watching it on their phones and iPads! Right when the golden score happened all joyful went lose across the hospital! I went outside the room and everyone even the nurses and doctors was cheering and hugging and crying and waving the flags! It was beautiful! And all of the families in the other rooms was coming outside their rooms and giving everyone a high five! After all the cheering we all started singing O Canada really loud and proud across the hospital! It was a beautiful moment and I will never forget it! I have never seen a hospital sooo cheerful and alive! God I love Canada! 2010 Vancouver Olympic made the whole country unite and I love it! Bring back the winter Olympic to Canada! CANADA does it best! GO CANADA!!! 🇨🇦🇨🇦
I'll always remember the moment when Sid scored the golden goal. I was at home in my living room with family and friends and we went absolutely crazy. I'm very proud to say that I've witnessed one of the best and proudest moments in Canadian hockey. We were champions again in Sochi for both men and women again! #CanadaFTW #GOCANADAGO!
Never get tired of watching this. I am not Canadian but the massive outpour of emotions of so many just rub on me. Awesome feelings. Great compilations.
The Canadians have the same attitude towards their national hockey team the same way the Brazilians have with their national soccer team. If they don't take first, it is a failure. You have to show much respect in the way both countries rally around their respective teams. I tip my hat to my neighbors up north.
I will always remember this day! My family had just immigrated to Canada a year before. We were living in a small bachelor apartment watching the game in a small tv on top of a box. When we won i was jumping all over the place. I was so proud of being in this country. Fast forward 12 yrs, i am fortunate to own a home with my family and contribute to the betterment of this country via donation and volunteering.
Came back for the good memories. I was in Ottawa at the time, and my friend and I were apartment hunting, and had a scheduled visit to see some place downtown. I don't remember much about the house itself, because we were more intent on the score that they had on TV while we were walking through. We ended up running down the street to the one bar that still had standing room inside right before the US scored the tying goal. The tension in there was palpable. But the jubilation when Crosby scored felt incredible. We ended up walking along Wellington to Parliament Hill, joining in the throngs of people singing the national anthem and high fiving strangers all the way. The cops were shutting traffic down to allow fans to crowd the streets, but most people downtown had abandoned their cars anyway, and the whole city came to a halt for blocks just to celebrate. I have never experienced such pride and unity before, and that night the whole country was celebrating. When we finally catch up to this coronavirus, and we're able to start greeting one another in public again, I hope we recapture that same joy and togetherness that we had that day. It took one shot to ignite the whole country. We will celebrate like this, all of us together again, one day soon. Hang in there, friends. And stay safe.
I'm English and love ice hockey, still to this day whenever I need a pick me up this video always does the trick. Perfectly put together and just shows what one moment can do to so many people. Thank you
I’m English, 10 years on and this video still brings a tear to my eye whenever I comeback to this!! Such a moment and what a truly beautifully edited video to show off true passion for a team
Tears remembering this, tears thinking how far we've fallen. At least then, for a few days, it didn't matter your skin color, your god, your place of birth...we were all Canadian. I'm ashamed of the hate I see spewing from my fellow Canadians towards others lately so I want to thank you for reminding me of this time when Canada was truly the best place in the world.
Its 3 in the morning I can't sleep and for some reason I'm feeling hella patriotic, which is how I ended up watching this and now I'm crying. God I'm so proud to be Canadian.
This is one of my favourite youtube videos. you really see how vastly spread the celebrations were across the country with some videos taking place in daylight hours and others at night. If we r only good at hockey, that's good enough for me.
It's a pretty incredible feeling of unity to know that a country was celebrating together in the exact same moment. From St. John's NFLD to Vancouver Island, the entire country threw their arms up in triumph and then sung the national anthem feeling the same glory from one place to the next. This will forever be a historical moment of Canadian unity and patriotism. Proud to be Canadian. No matter where I go.
Damn it's been 10 years and I'm still loving this video! Never in all the years I've seen the Olympics have I ever seen Canadians so united and up close. 2010 was a great Olympics and I don't think they'll ever be one quite like it again.
What I remember the most Was sitting in Halifax with my buddy Alex, watching this game. Crosby Scored, and you could hear the celebrations echoing across the Area I live in and from Downtown. When we Sang Oh Canada, We as a Country Sang it united. I will never forget that moment for as long as I live.
One of the coolest moments I ever got the pleasure to be a part of of. I may have been sitting at my house, but when you hear every person in every house on your block yelling top of their lungs, you know everyone was cheering for the right reason. Greatest national moment of unity I have ever experienced
awesome comment... I am from England and I thank GOD the day I was allowed into Canada.. there is NO better country on earth, thank you for allowing me into this beautiful country.
Can still remember using my only break at work (No Frills) to go to the pizza shop across the street with my buddy and watch the game only to have the US tie it up as our break ended Got the news that we won via a text and they yelled it over the store PA and me and my buddy ran down across the 20 aisle gap to hug. One of the greatest moments in hockey history. I'll never forget it
Part 1, an entire nation frozen in horror Part 2, an entire nation loses it's mind in utter euphoria All these years after, watching this made me tear up. Such an incredible moment.
Looking back at this day 10 years later, it brings back the waves of love and joy we all had in our country and our team. It was beautiful. Seeing where Canada is today with threats of separation and hatred towards our fellow Canadians, I feel truly saddened looking back now. 10 years ago, it didnt matter where you were, who you were, your race, beliefs, political views... nothing else mattered except the love and joy we all felt so loudly for our country. We were one. We were unified in an amazing connection. I hope that one day soon we can experience this type of unity again. And maybe in the future, not just in a few countries, but the world. Let's learn to love and be kind again.
During the 2010 Olympics, Vancouver made sure the rest of the cities can hear us so we can spread the patriotism and the joy of winning that gold medal.
man, I remember having school that day, but instead we all went into the school gym to watch the game. It was amazing! The screams got so loud it was so amazing how people of different ages can come together for something and just enjoy it.
Goosebumps, tears and and a big ass smile while watching this. These are the things, when a country can be brought together by simplest of moments... that makes me so unbelievably proud to wear that red maple leaf.
I was in the bathroom when he scored. I cheered on the toilet as our friends and families and lovers hooted and hollered from the living room. Live abroad now. Videos like these are one of the few things that bring me to warm, Canada-yearning tears.
The day we all celebrated and united as one country at the same time was truly a epic moment for all Canadians, from all wakes off life. And this video proves it!
I was in Haiti when he scored. I’m from NS. Worked 2 months in a field hospital treating earthquake survivors. This was the only game we got to watch. You all wanted a win. I think I needed it.
10 years later and it still gives me goosebumps when seeing Canadian fans cheering for Team Canada. Its Epic. Team Canada is and always will be the best team. Men and Women!!!!
This is why Hockey is Canada's Game ..... we care SO MUCH about it , and that's why rare moments like The " Golden Goal " ... AND just as awesome , The women's Gold medal victory , are etched in our minds and hearts forever.!!
This moment was probably the most Canadian I’ve ever felt. Was watching the game in downtown Ottawa; when that shot went in, I remember everyone just erupted, spilling out of the bars and partying in the streets. Went home later and saw someone throwing their mattress from the balcony of their apartment. Good times.
For those few brief but memorable moments, Canada was united like never before. Sure, in the NHL we cheer our teams from our preferred cities, but when the Winter Olympics roll around, it's all put aside for something greater! Cheers for this video! It should be sent to the CBC and broadcast every four years!
funny how with the placing of a perfect 5 hole shot a whole country can unite, from the coast of newfoundland to Vancouver we were no longer leaf, hab, oiler, sen, canuck, flames fans but team Canada fans. From large halls, bars and pubs, stadiums or the rec. room with your friends we all felt like we assisted on that incredible goal
I am honestly not even interested in watching hockey but I did however watch this game and man was it ever cool to feel the warmth and passion from everyone in the city in Vancouver.. Shortly after went on a walk only to absorb and par take in the happy ness everyone was sharing with each other. I only wish Canadians felt this all the time without the influence of hockey
Amazing to see one nation celebrate the Olympic gold in hockey! Wish Norway had the same relationship to hockey as you canadians have! Greetings from Norway And do the same in Russia ;)
I was in Ottawa and everyone went crazy with excitement everyone sang the national anthem everywhere. I think it was bigger than the 72 game. I love Canada so much. We are so lucky to be living here!
In Canada we don't have "Where were you when Kennedy was shot" we have "Where were you when Crosby scored"

As an American I was sad we lost. But it was a great game that was ended by a goal scored by the best player in the world. This video and others like show how much passion you crazy Canucks have for the greatest game."True north strong and free." Canada is the best neighbors any country can have. Love U Canada..Luv from Chicago and thanks for Tazer,Dunks,Seabs and so on.
Am I the only one who cries while watching this
Nope. I do, too, even after 4 years!!
in my mind, if you don't at least get a little choked up watching this you are not a true Canadian!
Resistance is futile against these onion-cutting ninjas
i went through half a box of kleenex watching this vid... LETS DO IT AGAIN!!!
GO CANADA!
Still do. 7 years later!
I think this was the first moment that I felt Canadian, having arrived as permanent resident in 2007. I remember thinking "I am so lucky to be here!"
You people ruined our once great country! Immigrants don’t care about being Canadian
Whenever I feel down about anything, I always think about this game and come back to watching this compilation.
Me too! It never gets old. We need these moments like this to bring us together again as a country.
Oh Canada..........
thomas bratkovich Canadians couldn't ask for a better neighbour than the US.
yes. Live/work in US....but have relatives in Canada....visit often....whenever I have some time off. Canada is awesome.
silkentresses Good on you bud!! :) From a proud Canadian.
thomas bratkovich Thank you.
thomas bratkovich Both countries are great.
The Sikh brother at 0:34 always makes me happy to be Canadian
Yes , just love his reaction.
+vega21 THAT is true integration, assimilation. All as 1, truly instead of a mirage. This is what i love about Canada! ;-)
To me, that just PERSONIFIES Canada!!
beautiful
The maple leaf on his turbin....could it be more Canadian?? #diversityisourstrength
Khang Nguyen Unless you were on a farm you could hear cheering throughout the whole country! Pure craziness.
Literally the one moment where all divisions just melted away.
I get emotional watching this. I love this country. Greatest place on earth. From time to time I give my dad a big hug and thank you for bringing the family to Vancouver.
I'm an American and I got choked up at the "O Canada" part. Much respect to our friends in the North.
We'll be ready, please bring your best.
Love it! :D
This event really helped unite a country.
Canada was already United before this 🤨🤨🤨
I agree with you, but sadly at the same time, Canada has been going downhill fast since about 2010 as well.
@@luisacambara17 well we couldn’t fly our flag last Canada day due to the Kamloops 215
What was amazing was seeing people of different colour and backgrounds hugging and high fiveing each other. God I love this country.
more than 8 years and still gives me the chills. Love you all, cheers
jp from ottawa
I am not even canadian, but im so happy for them
Canadian turban guy is awesome.
4 years on and this still gives me chills!!!! Goosebumps. Brings a tear to my eye. Everyone should remember where they were at this moment.
Watching this is 2021 during COVID times and it makes me want to cry
I cried watching this so many times. All the compassion, the happiness, I just wish it were like that more often. It's beautiful
We're proud of you too! Thank you for choosing our country!
You my friend, are *WHAT* this country is *MADE FROM*
Thank you my fellow countryman. Every Canadian needs to read your post.
❤️🇨🇦🏒✨🥇✨🏒🇨🇦❤️🙏🍻
And stay safe.
who's ready for another one ?
This shows why Canada is the greatest country in the world enough said!

What makes me proud to be Canadian. Thanks for being Canadian. I love this country!
damn rights
I’m English, 10 years on and this video still brings a tear to my eye whenever I comeback to this!! Such a moment and what a truly beautifully edited video to show off true passion for a team
Tears remembering this, tears thinking how far we've fallen. At least then, for a few days, it didn't matter your skin color, your god, your place of birth...we were all Canadian. I'm ashamed of the hate I see spewing from my fellow Canadians towards others lately so I want to thank you for reminding me of this time when Canada was truly the best place in the world.
Things have been tough with what’s happening. I totally get where you’re coming in that statement. I blame social media.
Its 3 in the morning I can't sleep and for some reason I'm feeling hella patriotic, which is how I ended up watching this and now I'm crying. God I'm so proud to be Canadian.
I'm American and not at all into sports, but this gives me chills. A++ Canada, well done.

Thank you neighbor. Thanks for covering our backs.
Thanks for being our neighbor.
thanks, Jason.
honestly feel proud of USA-hockey that game could've gone either way. BTW thanks to you guys for always supporting us Canadians
This is one of my favourite youtube videos. you really see how vastly spread the celebrations were across the country with some videos taking place in daylight hours and others at night. If we r only good at hockey, that's good enough for me.
Since 2010 when I was 13 I was so pumped up that team Canada won the gold medal. Proud to be Canadian
+Christopher Perkins I was 10 when this happened. Oh man looking back it brings tears to my eyes
I was 10 as well, wish I could've remembered this game, certainly a one in a life time evemt. Props Canada! - USA Fan
As a Swedish I love this video nothing better then hockey fans!!!
I will never get tired of watching this video. I was in The Market in downtown Ottawa celebrating along with everybody else.
Watching this 8 years later...so epic. Thanks for making this!
I watch this every Canada Day and every time it brings a tear to my eye. Happy 151st Birthday Canada!
Damn it's been 10 years and I'm still loving this video!
Never in all the years I've seen the Olympics have I ever seen Canadians so united and up close. 2010 was a great Olympics and I don't think they'll ever be one quite like it again.
Eric W same here brother! Long live Canada 🇨🇦
What I remember the most
Was sitting in Halifax with my buddy Alex, watching this game.
Lots of love from your friends in Norway: We love Canada, and I myself really like to see happy Canadians :)
Can still remember using my only break at work (No Frills) to go to the pizza shop across the street with my buddy and watch the game only to have the US tie it up as our break ended
Got the news that we won via a text and they yelled it over the store PA and me and my buddy ran down across the 20 aisle gap to hug.
One of the greatest moments in hockey history. I'll never forget it
Part 1, an entire nation frozen in horror
Part 2, an entire nation loses it's mind in utter euphoria
All these years after, watching this made me tear up.
Anyone notice the waitress at 30 seconds put all those drinks down without spilling a drop?
Nicholas Garcia yes, I think she put them down, cheered and went to check her pants
Andrew B With respect to the pants, I think a LOT of Canadians checked theirs at that point!
who wouldn't, very proud moment for all of us. god save the queen-----and Canadian hockey. have a great day.
She got dat waitress skill
I hope she got a good tip
I'm pretty sure the whole country was celebrating at the exact same time. what an amazing thing to experience.
man, I remember having school that day, but instead we all went into the school gym to watch the game.
I get goosebumps when I watch this video! Proud Canadian
Haylee Crawford ikr
Same lol. Its amazing to see
I'm from America, but I love this because it shows how hockey brings people together.
I never thought watching people celebrate my country losing would make me so happy.
Seriously this was beautiful.
I was in the bathroom when he scored.
I cheered on the toilet as our friends and families and lovers hooted and hollered from the living room.
Live abroad now. Videos like these are one of the few things that bring me to warm, Canada-yearning tears.
This was amazing! Watching this almost 4 years later STILL gives me goosebumps!
I wish we could all be this happy every single day!
This being 2015 I can still watch this video and get goose bumps
The day we all celebrated and united as one country at the same time was truly a epic moment for all Canadians, from all wakes off life. And this video proves it!
I was in Haiti when he scored. I’m from NS. Worked 2 months in a field hospital treating earthquake survivors. This was the only game we got to watch. You all wanted a win. I think I needed it.
10 years later and it still gives me goosebumps when seeing Canadian fans cheering for Team Canada. Its Epic. Team Canada is and always will be the best team. Men and Women!!!!
10 years later this still sends chills down my spine.
This is why Hockey is Canada's Game ..... we care SO MUCH about it , and that's why rare moments like The " Golden Goal " ... AND just as awesome , The women's Gold medal victory , are etched in our minds and hearts forever.!!
We're also the best !
This moment was probably the most Canadian I’ve ever felt. Was watching the game in downtown Ottawa; when that shot went in, I remember everyone just erupted, spilling out of the bars and partying in the streets. Went home later and saw someone throwing their mattress from the balcony of their apartment. Good times.
I was across the street at Alberta House. Yeah what a moment! I will never, ever, forget 🎉❤
Everytime I watch this it brings tears to my eyes, so proud to be Canadian
0:36 The guy wearing a white turban, I love his reaction! Let that be an example of unity! That’s what Canada is about! 🇨🇦🇨🇦
I always find myself coming back to this video every once in a while.
Me too ..brings some tears ,of sheer joy every time I do ..
Watching this in 2021 right after the Tokyo summer olympics, nothing compares to these 2010 Vancouver olympics. Proud to be Canadian
In Toronto you can feel it all the time!!
VERY WELL SAID. I agree 100%1
@@Carlitas1992 ??????? Toronto seems like the unfriendliest place in Canada to many people in BC.

Never take down this video. I plan on showing it to my kids in the future :')
It's impossible for me not to cry watching this

I was in Ottawa and everyone went crazy with excitement everyone sang the national anthem everywhere. I think it was bigger than the 72 game. I love Canada so much. We are so lucky to be living here!
