Great 1970s used car intro! I wish I had a use for an iMac, I love the design! Those I know who have them, love them as it was exactly what they were looking for in a home computer.
Great video! We ended up buying several iMacs for our family last year, and every single one of us has been absolutely thrilled with them. Apple just nailed it with this computer. It’s not perfect for every use case out there, but it sure covers our needs. And it’s gorgeous. I love my purple iMac. 💜
I'm pretty happy with the screen size of my 2017 iMac. No way I am going to downsize. Rather than give us a new 27 inch iMac, Apple wants to sell us a monitor that costs as much as the old iMac.
Spot on , a lot of people i suspect feel the same way , if you already have a 27” monitor on either your PC or old mac , going down to 24 inch is a no go.
At 0:54 you broke into an impressive accidental Morty impression (from Rick and Morty). Anyone else hear that? lol As usual, I appreciate your wacky creativity. :)
As someone who produces music in Logic Pro X and uses big sample libraries, I was hanging out for a bigger iMac at first with the ability to have a lot more RAM than 16GB. I almost pulled the trigger on a Mac Studio and Studio Display until I visited an Apple store and saw it in person.. and then walked over to the iMac 24 and played around with Logic on it. I instantly loved the iMac and I have not regretted it at all. Despite worrying about just 16GB, this has not been an issue at all and with a spec’d out 2TB 16GB version of the iMac M1, having my sample libraries on the main SSD is incredibly quick. Compared to my 2012 iMac 27 i7 this machine is more than powerful enough for my needs. Most of all I do love the form factor and design, it just sparks more joy than the industrial looking Studio and Studio Display… and saved me a fortune! :-)
I bought my first iMac M1 last year and I am totally satisfied with it! I did upgrade the memory to 16GB and the storage to 1TB. This computer works perfectly for what I need.
We love our iMac 24. Utterly amazing family computer and the M1 chip is still amazing and easily enough for all business work and kids needs. It’s utterly brilliant
Timely video, been trying to figure out if I can live with the 24inch (23.5) screen. I love the idea of the all-in-one. Think I'll give it a try as I am not editing video, just writting, ton of web surfing, and a bit of light gaming.
The Studio Display is, basically, a 27” iMac less the computer. If Apple wanted this could perfectly be the larger iMac version that lots of people want - it even has space, I believe, for an internal power supply, Ethernet and extra ports (just like the recently retired 27” Intel iMac).
Um now I prefer an external power supply after experiencing an M1 iMac. It's a big win for PSU replacements (in case the PSU got bricked) rather than tinkering an iMac with that pesky internal (uncaged and exposed) PSU in prior iMacs that Apple discourages everyone to open their iMac units (and a stark reminder for me how Apple absolutely hated third party repair.)
I wish they would of made a 27" version of the iMac24" with 10 core cpu and 14 core at min GPU, then I would of bought one instead of 2020iMac 27" 5700xt. Even this iMac is not a true 27" display, more like 26.5 or 26.75"
watched this after placing an order on a pink iMac. I did make it to the end. you are very lovable, Greg. and we appreciate your reviews a lot. your energy is delightful. Thanks for the reassurance on my purchase!! Thank you & well wishes x
That’s crazy. I remember him crazy Eddie, born and raised in Long Island New York back in the day that guy dropping prices that were “insane “unbelievable funny well done well done
I am just waiting for the Spec bump to the M2 since that should be coming relatively soon & I am buying it. I think I am getting the Purple one. I know that 24" will be a great screen size for me. My current but super old Monitor for my outdated windows computer is 19". Of course, this means that I am hoping that the recent rumors of a 15" M2 Macbook Air in 2023 are true, because going from 24" to 13" is a big loss, but 24" down to 15" is more bearable in my opinion. Loved the Intro to this one Greg, you could be a salesman. Your energy reminded me of the old oxy-clean commercials with the now-deceased beared guy (I forget his name) & how he said in those commercials enthusiastically: "But Wait, there's MORE!"
Greg was imitating Steve Ballmer’s commercial, former Microsoft CEO, who is bald (not bearded, that’s Apple’s co-founder Steve Wozniak) and he is certainly not dead 😄. Here is the original commercial th-cam.com/video/EtuDS0ntaJY/w-d-xo.html
Greg u made me buy my first Mac, an MacBook Pro 13 and I absolutely love it! Now I want an IMac as well …I really enjoy your videos! Keep up the good work! Thanks
Waited and waited for the new 32” iMac all in one, with choice of Pro, Max, or Ultra M1 chip and some decent ports, like on the Studio. Didn’t get it. Bought an M1 Air for my lap, and plugged a 50” 4K TV into the HDMI port on my 10 year old MaxBook Pro for a big screen “desktop”. Saved a couple thousand dollar$ that Apple could have scored, but didn’t. Nobody waits forever.
I still wonder if the Studio Display was original supposed to be an iMac but they scrapped it last minute. It would be nice to get a 27” option for the consumer level iMac for those who want a little more screen. Right now, it does feel like the days of the original iMac where it was the consumer level option and the Power Mac tower was aimed towards people who needed more.
Even if I don’t care about the subject I still watch because I always enjoy the lighthearted humor and insight. Great as always Greg and thanks for the laugh!
I have the upgraded model in blue with 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD and I can say this is the best Mac I have ever owned. It's replacing an old intel 4K iMac that just wasn't up to par. The M1 chip is perfect for day to day tasks and my upgraded model with 16GB of RAM can easily handle pro tasks. I wouldn't even recommend someone to wait for the bigger iMac assuming Apple does have plans to release one. Unless you are working with extremely heavy tasks like editing 8K video, this iMac will be plenty for you. Not to mention the display is phenomenal and for the price it is honestly a steal. For these reasons, I don't see why Apple would even bother releasing a larger iMac, especially given that the Mac Studio is now out
I haven't owned a desktop for such a long time would it be worth buying the 24 iMac now? Or wait for a new 24 iMac? I feel this will be good for a long time without major changes
Apple shot its sales in the foot only offering it with the 24 inch screen , many people have been using 27 inch or better sized screens on either platform and see 24 inch as going backwards. I would have bought one myself except for the small screen which was too small , i liked everything else about i though .
Thank you, for this fun and enjoyable video. I came to Apple desktop computers in 1996, with the All-in-One 5400 system (stereo speakers, headphone jack, 15-inch Sony CRT, CD-ROM, floopy drive, internal Apple video capture card, internal Apple TV/FM radio card, keyboard, and mouse). While, most people suggest new users to Apple computers buy a "mac mini". However, I have always suggested starting with an All-in-One system from Apple to get the best experience. Today, that would be the new colorful 24-inch iMac (smile...smile).
Thanks so much for posting this! It’s time for me to upgrade my iMac and I was wondering if a year later you still felt it was a good machine. It doesn’t seem as if Apple is going to upgrade the processor this year, so I’m leaning towards getting this as my new iMac. Sounds like you are very happy with its overall performance! 👍🏼
I am really liking this new iMac Just got it 2 days ago. I ge the external power supply is on the outside, but look at the good side. If it goes out for whatever reason anyone can replace it. Plus, getting the one with the 10gig Ethernet port is pretty sweet the way that works. Never seen any computer company ever do that before.
I bought my 2013 27"iMac re-furb, 256 gb ssd, 8gb RAM, about 9 yrs ago, use it everyday, all day, just streaming, email, no gaming; yet. Works perfect. But preparing for supply shortages/hyperinflation I've already ordered a 27 Studio Display (I stream movies etc from my most comfortable position - recline). I'm still deciding which MacMini to buy. The display will not arrive before early June... should I wait? Or just get the 8gbRam/512ssd M1mini now?
I have a 17" laptop right now so moving up to a 23.5" higher resolution screen would be a nice upgrade for me. I'm retired now so I don't really need a laptop and I can always use my smartphone when I travel. The M1 chip is very powerful. I would probably have to get an external device for ports like a full size card reader for my camera. I use that a lot and also type A port for my older flash drives. I also have a 2TB external drive for backups. Other than that the iMac looks pretty good and at an affordable price!
Great video and totally true. I was holding off for the 27 but really wanted the pink/red version. It’s the only M1 product I see as a truly new design (not a redesign or going back to similar to an old design like M1 14/16). Even though I have M1 mini linked it 49 inch display and MBP14 I grabbed the M1 iMac after the studio launch as a family computer and I absolutely love it. 24 inch screen is ok for most things split application and it just looks 🔥 on a standing desk. It’s my favourite mac since the MBA 11 and my iMac 2012.
Great video, Greg! (you always make me giggle) I am debating on buying an old 2020 iMac as my 2013 iMac is on the way to its death. I saw some of your older videos when this machine came out and wanted to see something more current and there you were!! My computer lasted a long time (with an extra year of having a new hard drive). I will definitely buy the new 24" one instead. Hahaha YAZ! Amazing intro gotta love it ❤️ I’m enjoying my M1 16gb and the dual fans were definitely worth the upgraded. This was the best purchase in a while and compared to the Mac Studio display, it’s a way better bargain
Awww thanks Greg, we love you too. Lol… i loved the 24” imac from the get go. But my problem is I’m trying to still figure out (and afford) a new and my first MacBook…ive got my ipad 9, my iPhone 12, my apple watch, AirPods Pro. Not to mention had to get my daughter an iphone and airpods tablet as well… I really would love to have either a 14” MacBook pro m1 base model plus an external display and or a m2/m1 air and a 24” iMac… but alas I can’t afford any at the moment…hopefully soon but we’ll see… especially the way everything has literally like doubled in price…gas, food, rent, living in general lol… anyways great stuff as always keep it up and keep keeping us entertained. Thanks 😊 👍🏻👋
For an all in one, I’d go with the iMac. But when I can upgrade a Mac mini some, for the same price, and get a screen to my liking separately (I don’t use webcams that often outside of my phone or iPad, so not a concern to me, although I do have one), I went for the Mac mini. Plus if I need work done on the computer, or the monitor goes, I’m not sacrificing one for all. But that’s a me thing.
I dont like All-In-Ones. If any individual component, chip, RAM, SSD, monitor etc. dies... you need a complete new computer... and you'll be without a monitor.
