    this makes me want to get into dual sports. I'm 30 and come from a long time downhill skateboarding, so sometimes it feels too late for a new hobby like this. Trying to find something new that's a good fit for me but love A to B journeys. I just got a cruiser bike a few months ago

      I started dirt biking at 38, ten years ago. Almost 50 now. You’ll only be one year older if you don’t do it this year.

    One of the best videos I have seen on the San Juan Mountains. Beautiful video. Silverton and Ouray are two of my favorite towns.

    Check it out this summer

    Hi! We've always wanted to ride through and explore Colorado (hopefully soon!) and came across your video. Absolutely INCREDIBLE views, wow! Insane amount of snowfall there. You have a great narration voice, enjoyed the video, thanks for sharing!

    Very cool video - I’m in the Midwest..... Flat and Boring 😖. That looked EPIC ...... Man, I’ve got to get to the mountains 🤔❗️Your wife’s a trooper for sure ✅ - She tackled some Serious S**T on the little XT 😁 👍❗️

    Great video! But don’t try Black Bear Pass from Telluride to Ouray. The ledges are too big to go up.

    Come back when there's less snow! I've been here since 2017 and I try to rent a Jeep or side by side at least once a year to do some exploring. Imogene is totally doable on a dual sport, and the views are incredible. I'll be getting a bike in the next year or so.
    As far as living in the area, we live in Montrose. About 6k elevation, so not nearly as much snow, but we're right in the middle of the San Juans, Black Canyon, Grand Mesa, and the Uncompahgre Plateau. It's a paradise here. Kinda muddy in the spring, but you learn to deal with it!

      I came back again in 2020 and had a blast. I made another video about it. I was actually looking at properties in Montrose for a while. We want to build a Barndominium. I met a guy named Phil with a Barndominium on Horsefly Rd in Montrose who also rides dual sports. That area is so gorgeous.

      @@alexkramWe had a baby, so I still don't have a bike. Slowly saving up and getting my ducks in a row.
      I'm hoping for a lot of snow this winter - my boy is big enough for sledding and I have a cross country ski trailer I can pull him around in. My job is always busy in the summer, so I end up spending way more time outdoors in the winter! You should come back in the winter and rent snowmobiles on Grand Mesa!

    You went to Ouray / Silverton in July, and it still looks slick and wet with lots of snow melt and run off. Would August have been better? Planning a trip in June... but may push it back to July / Aug.

    • @alexkram
      @alexkram  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think another month would have helped, this was at the end of July. It all depends on how big of a snow year they had and 2018-2019 winter was a record year. If it is a light year I think June would be OK but safer to go in July/Aug.

      August is the safest bet around here. June can be very questionable if you are at high elevation and off of paved maintained roads. If you want to explore back roads and trails, if possible, I would wait until July or August! Either way you will LOVE it, the San Juans are absolutely spectacular! Some of the most remote and rugged wilderness in the country.

    • @jasonscott5043

      June can be risky. Even early July could be on some passes. You just turn around though. Still awesome.

    • @machinsote5280
      @machinsote5280 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      August would be perfect. At that elevation, the summer heat is obviously not a factor. Hence the piles of snow.

    Do you have a list of riding places you;ve been to on your 3 part co series? points on the google map would be helpful too

    • @alexkram
      @alexkram  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      We explored a lot of places on that trip but not all of them were good. Mt Evans, Buena Vista road 311, Crested Butte area, and San Juans were the highlights for me. If I were to return to CO I would go directly to the San Juans. So many roads and spectacular scenery.
