Marcelo, you did it man! Almost nobody can lift their bike 15 times and keep on fighting! Much less at that high altitude. You are a fighter and a champ!!! That help you got from Brock is priceless… I have had some bad days on the trails and when someone helps you like that… regardless of time “lost” and effort…. is just unreal. I passed next to all of you and they told me they were already helping you. Then I met all of you at the bottom of the Ophir pass. (I’m the guy that was riding the TW200.) What an awesome guy! Now I am a huge fan of Brock !… and also a huge fan of Marcelo, he had a huge smile on his face and a great attitude when he made it to the other end of the Ophir Pass. What an awesome and magical day … I saw Brock turn a horrible day into a beautiful one. That’s a trick not many people can do! ;) Thanks again for being awesome Brock!! I’m glad I got to meet all of you guys!
Best video so far. Marcelo wasn’t gonna make it down without you, much respect for him not giving up. He now has a adventure under his belt. Thanks for helping him out.
I want to commend you on your efforts to help that gentleman down the mountain. You really went above and beyond. I was so impressed with your patience and guidance. Godspeed on your future endeavors!
Hey Marcelo I just watched Brock help you get down that mountain, you did great! Sometimes we all get in a little over our heads... Myself included, don't give up Adventure motorcycling, just keep working at it! One day you may find yourself helping someone else get out of a jam
I recently fractured my ankle riding a GS on the Idaho BDR. Been laid up all summer. I’m in my 60’s, don’t have a lot of off road experience, but did take a couple of training courses. I’ve also watched many instructional videos but I’ve got to say that watching your video, especially with you instructing your friend while riding through hairpins was very educational. Not sure I’ll ride off road again, especially Ophir Pass, but if I do ride a less technical road I’ll remember your instructions. Great job and thanks!!
Hey. That’s really cool to hear. But I am sorry about your ankle. I encourage you to get back on the bike and do some off road to Overcome. Take it easy. Go adventure. Thanks for watching. Stay in touch and lemme know how it’s going
Wow, good job helping out someone who was in way over his head! Loved how you stayed so calm and worked so hard to keep him going and had such good advice for him. You got a new subscriber out of this one. Best adventure bike video I've seen in a while!
I have no idea how your video ended up on my feed but I'm glad it did! Sir, you are an angel, full-stop. It was not a coincidence that you and Marcello crossed tracks (literally and figuratively). Well done, and much respect for you!
Ah. Thank you for saying that. I want to help riders down at every opportunity. Always better to have people to help pick you up while you are down in life or the trail.
Great job, Brock, in helping Marcello down that rocky track. Words of wisdom, to be sure! That helps explain your calm demeanor and Good Samaritan attitude.

There are no boundaries to gender, race or culture as we all have a passion for motorcycles and adventure and that commonality brings us together. Stay safe and happy adventuring ✌️
This was one of the greatest Adventure Riding videos I’ve ever seen! I’m a lot like Marcelo in getting in over my head quickly as a relatively new rider, and I’ve had others come to my aid and help me out of sticky situations (though nothing as intense as this!). How great of you all to help him finish that mountain…memories!
Oh damn, that's Def a nerve racking experience for anyone one on that grade of trail.. can hear it in his voice at the end, he's in it to get it done .. good job Brock
I rode up this pass a few months ago, and it cannot be overstated how much the GoPro flattens the terrain and size of the rocks on this scree field. It is truly no joke. Well done all around, fellas.
Haha. Yep. Cameras make it look flat. It’s a serious pass.. and it’s a favorite of mine. Did you see the latest series of me riding this pass with a one arm man ?
@@MotoMission. Nope! I’ll have to find it; I was just looking for some PTSD of my ride up it, and found your video that way. Definitely going to watch the other. I did Ophir Pass on an FE 350S, and I kinda wonder if a bigger bike would be better…
Haha. I understand that for sure. The key is just using our technique of the basic bike skills. I hope to ride that pass again this year. Love Colorado
Love how positive you were. No berating skill level or asking why he was there. I do not like ANY Shelf Roads. You guys did great! Live to ride another day.

Congrats to you and your buddies. Really well done. Wow, saying Marcelo was over his head is the understatement of the year.... Tackling a notoriously difficult pass with no research, solo, without the skills, without proper gear (sneaker etc), wrong tires........ Wow!!!! I could almost feel his fear and panic. @@MotoMission. I'm a retired leo and I teach in Nashville at least six times a year. Be great to sit down and hear about your travels first hand. Keep up producing the great content.
@@MotoMission. definitely will. Im going to be teaching at a Federal facility the week of April 24th in Nashville. Quick technical question. Which system are you using for recording the audio on your helmet cam? I have a GP 11. Are you using an additional audio system other than the external mount on the camera?
Capturing audio is just my GoPro w a mic. No additional recorder. I film and edit so fast I chose not to do an additional unit. Get the mic close to mouth and keep a dead cat on it to improve the quality. That works pretty well for me. I’ve tried many options and spent a lot of time beating my head against the wall w bad audio.
Marcello - a boy becoming a man! Brings a lot of memories when I started. Dropped my F800GS 7-8 times in an hour span. Very nice of you to stay behind and help him get down in one piece!
Well done, not an easy trail. Very nice of you to stop and guide him. That just shows the comradery between bikers, I love it. That bike does not have much ground clearance either, @ 20:29 stones hit the skid plate. To Marcello : I would certainly recommend some full size MX boots. If such a heavy bike tips over and your leg is still in between the rocks and the bike or crash bar, you have a big chance of loosing your foot. Also, load all the extra gear to the sides and do not strap it all to the back seat. That will make riding your bike much easier !
Unfortunately many people passed and didn’t stop to help him. He gave up hope and was thinking he was stuck. I was so happy to help. The right place at right time.
My stomach was doing summer salts watching this. Great job you guys. One technique that can come in helpful if to shut off the bike, leave it if first gear, and use the clutch to brake the back wheel so then you can keep both feet down in the really gnarly stuff. Once past the really bad stuff go ahead and start it up again.
Don’t know who you are, I do not know who Marcelo was, just clicked on your video. What I know is you are a kind person, and thank you for what you did. IDK who would it done it. Best wishes to you and your friends.
Brock you da man! Hope if I'm ever in trouble someone like you comes along to help. If i ever meet you along the trails of life, the cold ones are on me.
Good man! Taking care of your fellow man. I'm an old guy, and I'll never learn to ride a bike across those mountains, but I have a tremendous amount of respect for you fellas that do it. As for Marcello, he'll be back. Many of us have to ease into the trails. My very first trail was Clear Lake, and I remember having a bit of pucker most of the way up the top. Now I look back and laugh.
Ah, Brock, you are truly loving your neighbor in this video. I’m a new fan. And you’re an awesome rider! Blessings to you and looking forward to watching more of your content. Love the scriptural inspo’s at the end of your vids, too. 👊🏻🙌🏻
Great job Brock. I've been watching some of your videos, never even noticing the name, then realized we had met on the TAT back in TN (I was on the Royal Enfield Himalayan with the sign on the back "I'm giving her all she's got Captain." Glad to see you guys made it. Unfortunately, I passed over the Colorado passes due to riding solo.
James ! I remember meeting you. saw you a few times. I was wondering how your adventure tire went. You are actually seen in a couple of those videos. I sure had a blast. Stay in touch
South oregon ! Wonderful part of the world. Hope you get some good riding in there. Ophir is a great pass. Such a great ride. You will love it. Lemme know when you see it.
I just found your channel man and I got to say I love your videos. I really appreciate you taking your time and having patience with Marcelo, i'm sure he was glad he had you guys. I know I sure would. We look out for each other on the trail and I love that.
Incredible patience Brock! Thanks for giving ADV riders a good name. I felt for Marcello. I have been there where your confidence is shot and its not a good feeling, especially in tough conditions like that. Odie
Hi Brock. I just wanted to say I really appreciate how you talk to others on trail. I do the same thing, we should all be good ambassadors of our sport. I ride CO quite a bit on my 890 and 500. Ophir is a good one, so is Imogene on the 890. Safe travels
Danny. Good to hear from you. I love Colorado. And yes I love hangin and meeting people on the trail. I admire your bikes. I have the same ktm bikes. Very good choices. I’m riding Colorado in couple of months. Let’s try to meet up Hit me
Full respect for Marcelo the moment he said, "i got in over my head". There are people that won't admit it and try to push on.. and that's how you get hurt (or worse!). Well done, Marcelo! I hope you get your confidence back real soon! I'm glad you guys helped him get back down.
Marcelo is a beast for attempting that. Brock too for helping him out. As a shorter rider on an ADV, I'll call the chopper... The downhill trail looks sketchy as all heck.
Hello, new subscriber here. I had met you just outside Telluride at a gas station and we talked about this incident. That is definitely the same rider I passed on the way up Ophir. He was still right side up then. I'm glad it was several of you that helped him. I can only imagine if I came by just 20 minutes later and you all weren't there. Also, I just posted my COBDR video on my channel.
Hello there. I remember talking to you. That was one crazy day. I’m glad Marcelo is ok because that was sketchy. We are friends today. I just subscribed to you. Excited to see your videos. Where are you going next ?
@@MotoMission. Thanks. I'm not sure. Maybe another BDR or another AMA adventure or dual sport ride. Congratulations on finishing the TAT. Quite an accomplishment.
@@MotoMission. Hey Brock. I was just on the KLove website and saw your new video series on there. Good work. I remembered you from our short conversation in Telluride, and then remembered that I had commented on here. I've been a long time KLove listener. I'm thinking about doing the NMBDR in a few months. Take care.
Hey there. I do remember I am happy to hear that. I did the maBDR in the fall. You may have seen those videos. But I just finished today the SCAR. It was great. Headed home now. Thanks for saying hello.
Great coaching!! Your calm and positive attitude saved him. I'm a new subscriber and have been enjoying your series. One suggestion, can you add episode numbers to your titles. Im finding it hard to keep series in order while watching. Im looking forward to the rest of your journey. "LETS RIDE!!!"
Ok. First of all thanks for watching. And for the kind words. I will see what I can do to help you with episode numbers. In the mean time you may find it easy to watch the tat in a playlist on the channel. Soon will get episode numbers. I’m listening to you Let’s ride!
congratulations, you have been well instructed, training is everything look ahead where you want to go. don't ride too slowly, don't sit on the bike, only brake with the rear wheel Good ride Regards, KTM 890 Adv. R
I feel badly for the guy but he was way out of his element and seriously needs some off-road skills as going slow and using any front brake on loose scree covered hard pack is a bad recipe. Not ridden Ophir but it is no different than any other scree covered hard pack and focusing on the drop-off has this guy diving for the crash as opposed to riding through the issues. I am guessing every time he applied front brake and got a slide he freaked out and opted to lay the bike down. It probably didn't help that it appeared he could not even get both toes down which for newer riders is very unnerving when terrain they are uncomfortable with is presented. Thanks for taking the time to get this fearful rider back on his journey. I can't imagine being that fearful and having to pick up my bike fifteen times while being stressed out, he probably required a couple days rest to just get himself back into a good place.
Hey ken. You are totally right. It was his first time off road. Google maps sent him that way. He was a tough dude. He did need some rest afterward. He was beat up and exhausted. What a wild ride for us all

Marcello - a boy becoming a man! Brings a lot of memories when I started. Dropped my F800GS 7-8 times in an hour span. Very nice of you to stay behind and help him get down in one piece!
Yes. I’m proud of Marcelo. Pretty awesome day. Glad you are in one piece also. Ha. Keep going. Let’s ride
This is one of your best Brock. So good.
Thanks Brent.
awesome video. I hope Marcelo didn't quit riding after this. I can't imagine doing this pass before being comfortable riding standing up!
He still rides. He is a tough dude
Great advice !
And you are totally right about the skid plate. Low clearance makes that trail nearly impossible to do without crashing.
Marcello seems like a new rider. He sure picked a helluva place to start out! Thank you for helping him. 👍🏻👍🏻
Yes. And I kid you not, Google sent him that route. Unbelievable
Nice Job helping him…some folks would keep on going…glad he made it out and safe. Awesome job team!!!
It’s a long way down ! Yeah it’s good to learn good technique for situations like this. Thanks for saying hello
Y'all got to see some amazing flowers up there! Beautiful mountains, love the million dollar highway
Yes we do too. A fav
Don’t know who you are, I do not know who Marcelo was, just clicked on your video. What I know is you are a kind person, and thank you for what you did. IDK who would it done it. Best wishes to you and your friends.
First of all thanks for watching. Second, thanks for the kind words. I will always be there for a rider (or person) in need.
Brock you da man! Hope if I'm ever in trouble someone like you comes along to help. If i ever meet you along the trails of life, the cold ones are on me.
Haha. Hey man. Sounds like a plan! Hope we do cross paths at some point. I will be cross crossing the USA this year. Let’s ride
Great job helping Marcelo out!
Thanks. He is an awesome dude.
You guys are Legend for helping this young man, much respect.
Big thanks. That’s our purpose.
Hope you will enjoy my other videos.
Awesome job assisting that gentleman!
Thank you Russ. The right place at the right time !
Thanks. Great memories of that area. Marcellp and I are still friends
That was awesome you helping the fella out and coaching him down that mountain. I can’t wait to ride this pass next summer
Yes sir. Gotta help people out when possible.
I love those passes there. You will have a blast. Lemme know how it goes.
Nice job Brock and friends.
Big thanks. :)
Excellent help guys. We all learn somewhere. Brave for getting a bike and going for the pass. Well done all around.
Big thanks What a day to remember
What an adventure! Those trails were treacherous! So glad you helped the young man.
Yep. Rough one. But what a great day.
Ah, Brock, you are truly loving your neighbor in this video. I’m a new fan. And you’re an awesome rider! Blessings to you and looking forward to watching more of your content. Love the scriptural inspo’s at the end of your vids, too. 👊🏻🙌🏻
So happy to read your comment. That’s super cool. Thanks for saying hello. More comin
Brock..... you rock..... HARD!!!
Haha. Thanks friend
Awesome work, Kudos to Marcelo for not giving up.
Ride on!
Yeah. He is a good dude
@@MotoMission. Had some interesting times - I posted on the TAT page pretty much daily (even put your blog on it).
You are kind for doing that. Thank you. I want to hear your updates. I can’t access Facebook. My account is messed up and can’t log in.
Greetings from south oregon that pass is on my list great vid
South oregon ! Wonderful part of the world. Hope you get some good riding in there. Ophir is a great pass. Such a great ride. You will love it. Lemme know when you see it.
Not all hero’s wear capes sir.
Thanks for watching Brian.
I just found your channel man and I got to say I love your videos. I really appreciate you taking your time and having patience with Marcelo, i'm sure he was glad he had you guys. I know I sure would.
We look out for each other on the trail and I love that.
Hey. Thanks. Glad you are watching. Marcelo is a great dude. I so enjoyed meeting him. We are still friends today.
Incredible patience Brock! Thanks for giving ADV riders a good name. I felt for Marcello. I have been there where your confidence is shot and its not a good feeling, especially in tough conditions like that. Odie
We got it done Everybody is safe :)
You're a really good Man , thank you.......
Thank you for saying that. I just love people and want to help any chance I get. Thanks for watching.
So kind to help that dude off the pass. Brent
Thanks Brent. Was a good memory. Still friends w him today.
Let’s try to meet up Hit me
@@MotoMission. I'm doing the CO BDR June 23rd, then the Colorado 1000 Aug 10-20th. Let's grab a beer.. :)
Amazing. I need to hear about it. I get to Colorado end of July and early august. Likely doing the bdr. Then continental divide.
Id like to see an update with Marcelo and you guys riding! Good job helping!
We are still friends today.
Amigo Brock! You have a new subscriber! You are amazingly kind and heroic. Greetings and respect to all from Durango Mexico 🇲🇽
Thank you !!! More adventure coming
Hello to Mexico !
So glad I found this video and part of a group that likes to ride. Great summary at the end of the video!
Hey. Thank you for saying that. And thanks for watching. We do love to ride. Will be making videos like this every week.
Your a Kind Man!
Thank you. Marcelo was in trouble and we had to respond
If I ever get in trouble out there, I want y’all there to help!!! That was awesome what you did to help Marcelo!! Y’all are good people!!!!
Helping each other out. That’s the rider way !
Full respect for Marcelo the moment he said, "i got in over my head". There are people that won't admit it and try to push on.. and that's how you get hurt (or worse!). Well done, Marcelo! I hope you get your confidence back real soon! I'm glad you guys helped him get back down.
Great job Brock for helping a fellow rider, hope your around when I need help on Opher pass. You & Marcello are the man.
Thanks for saying that. I will be looking for ya. :)
That was awesome! Great community in bikers!
Thanks for watching. We love the moto community.
Marcelo is a beast for attempting that. Brock too for helping him out. As a shorter rider on an ADV, I'll call the chopper... The downhill trail looks sketchy as all heck.
It can get real sketchy up there.
You are a good man.
You are a good guy, Brock.
Ok. Keep me updated. Maybe will pass you on the trail somewhere. I am doing a bdr next. Preparing now. Start in a few days.
Thanks for saying hello.
legends all around
A true Biker, nice work.
Thank you kindly
You guys are good people. Well done.
Marcelo, well done!
Outstanding!!
Thank you. Thanks for watching my series. Can’t wait to show you the new season of vids.
I’m listening to you Let’s ride!
congratulations, you have been well instructed, training is everything
look ahead where you want to go.
don't ride too slowly, don't sit on the bike, only brake with the rear wheel
Good ride Regards, KTM 890 Adv. R
You got it! Let’s ride
wow this looks challenging !
Yes. But so worth it
Great Job Guys !!
Thanks nathan. What an adventure it was.
What a wild ride for us all
Bless you.
Happy face emoji to you
