I’m about to get a klx250 or 300, I live in New Mexico but my families having a reunion in the smoky mountains, Tennessee I think I want follow my parents and my 2 golden retrievers on my klx 250 it’s about an 18 hour drive for us so we’re gonna split it up into 2 trips but I think it’ll be a lot of fun
this is the coolest thing i have ever seen in my life. hopefully i will accomplish something like this in the near future. very inspirational thanks for sharing
What a great video! It let me be part of your trip and reminds me so often to a time - a time, when i was even young like you. An old man from Germany Thank you!
This was 3 years ago so much has changed. There's plenty of old body's getting around with old minds. Let's try..... some of us to just let the body's get old i'm going to get one of these adventure bikes and have me some fun. 30+ years since i've ridden a bike. I think it's time.
What memories this brought back to my old head. I had done from the Ark/Miss border to middle Ark on a DR350SE , had to stop due to rain and mud, came back 6 months later on a new 2000 KLR and rode that solo and camping to the Oregon Coast. Never forget that trip. Thanks!
Thanks for making a great video. I have looked at this trip for twenty years and it is on my bucket list when I retire. Family is grown and only a few more years out. This video totally motivated me to DO IT. Probably try to pack a little lighter LOL
Hey guys, really enjoyed your TAT video. You gave us a good idea of the terrain you traveled through and some of the tough spots you encountered. Gave the viewer a nice sense of what companionship is on a trip like that. I tend to solo, but I can see how nice it must be to travel with a tight-knit group of buddies. Well done.
I did the full TAT at age 62 with a friend in 2019. Survived with bumps and bruises but no broken bones thank God, cause people do. The TAT is no joke. We modified Yamaha WR250Rs. You may want that smaller lighter bike and get in shape, wear all the right equipment cause you’re going to take some spills. The TAT is truly an awesome trip, one that you will never forget and when you reach the west coast it’s an unbelievable sense of accomplishment.
Wow.. Since I've seen this, this looks like a plan for an epic adventure in the future. If only I could get a few of my friends to go along with me, this will only be a matter of time. You guys have done something amazing!!
That was some *A W E S O M E* footage! The upside: this was the ride of a lifetime, shared through video with so many that will never get this opportunity. The downside: pitching tents every dog-gone night (Ugh!), knowing you have to break camp early each morning in order to make time. All in all, this was a great video. But I had to mute it to enjoy it. That music is atrocious. But you can't please all of the people all of the time. I just wish I could give this video more than one "like". It deserves SO MANY more. Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us through this video. It was such an inspiration.
Thanks for your comment. Yeah setting up and breaking down camp every night is exhausting but you get used to it after the first week. Yeah, sorry about the music...who would've thought looping it for 8hours was a bad choice. If I am ambitious enough, I'll re edit it for 4k and add better music...one day
Great video! Congrats on the accomplishment. Awesome production job on this video, too. No boring parts at all, you showed great scenery, and used upbeat background music. I'll be watching this more than once. It's truly inspiring. Thanks for posting this!
great video! my buddy FryRiding and I have talked about doing just the AR section but would love to do the whole thing. definitely an inspiring video, thank you!
Very cool video. I can see my house at 8:28...been over all the passes in that area and the Ouray side of Engineer can be tough on a heavy ladened bike...well done! Epic soaking your tires in the Pacific...
Wow what a great trip what great editing always I think a lot of us would know about issues with bike how long chains last flat tires little things like that but fantastic video thanks
Some how we didnt get a single flat...but we did have a lot of other issues. But nothing we could solve. Make sure to bring spare parts for items that would be hard to find....i.e. Brake lines, extra clutch / brake lever,...make sure to have lots of protection on components that you dont want to fail also.
My in-laws live a half mile from the beach where you ended. I didn't realize it ends right there in Port Orford! I'm excited to try this someday soon with my son...
Amazing! Well done guys. I was gonna play this on my TV while I work on my laptop and I couldn't take my eyes off the video from start to end. Bravo! Definitely on my to do list.
so so epic hands down hero status. thank you so much. up there with evaride. made my day totally. subbed forever for this amazing gift. keep it up. don't know how you could do any better.
Before scrolling down I saw the picture @2:25 and thought, "Hey, that's a DR650 on the right!" Just got rid of mine. Good bike for the ride...especially one that long.
Very cool ride, I hope I'll be able to do it someday. A little tip for future journeys, stand on the pegs to keep the bike under control offroad, I'm saying this because I keep seeing you guys with feet dangling on the sides :)
This was literally all of our first times really riding off road...I would strongly suggest having experience before being a dumb as us. It's not an easy trip.
Looks awesome, did some great passes this summer in Colorado, Engineer included, it's very rough, we did on 4 wheelers, props for surviving on a motorcycle 😁
The Good.. great shots, good image quality, and a compelling edit. ~8m is where my skills on a GSA would be overwhelmed and I would be wishing for my Husky FE250.. The Bad.. The music (its like every youtube video uses that stuff now..and they crank the volume on their end so you always have to find the remote to turn it back down.)
Looks like a great trip. I'd love to do that some day. As a viewer of the video....voice-overs of what is happening and where you are is much more pleasing to listen to than that horrible "free youtube music".
You guys did a great job with the video, and the music is good and appropriate, sounds great to me (can't please everyone). Looked like you had a lot of fun, and that's what it's all about. Were lucky with the weather. I too am going to do it on a dr650 this coming summer (2020) riding from the NW to east coast, taking the trail back west. Really looking forward to it. Congrats!
Looking to do this in the spring but I’m going to take a few extra stops in some major cities. I’m going at it solo. I know going solo isn’t the best idea but I don’t have anyone to go with and this is something I feel I must do.
Awesome! Solo is fine, you will find many people along your route doing similar things and you can group up with them for a couple days. Just travel with a one of those safety beacons in case of emergency.
I’ve been trying to get my friends to do this all my life and never got anyone interested to do it, my hat goes off to anyone that gets to do this
Get busy with a wife and kids then an other wife and kids? Chances are slim to none. LOL
Let’s go!!
I think I’d be up for it
Go alone!
