    Hey! I am Pierre-Christian Brochet. I am French and for 25 years I have been crossing that huge country called Russia. What thrills me the most is the richness and variety of the cultures which are spread across the territory. That’s what I’m going to tell you about in very short films that portray one of the many faces of Russia’s cultures.
    There are 140 million of Russian citizens living on the vast territory of Russia. And 110 million of them are actually Russians. Russia differ from region to region. In the north of the Komi Republic near the polar circle in the west of Ural live the Russian old-believers Pomors.
    It’s very important for them to preserve their culture and to remember the destiny of their ancestors. Also they preserved a lot from the old Russian culture as well as the regulations and the sacrament of old church.
    In the summer they celebrate a wonderful holiday Gorka, where you can see something that has disappeared from the life of Russian in other regions.
    We express our special gratitude to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Archival Affairs of the Komi Republic and personally to Sergey Emelyanov
    We thank the residents of the Ust-Tsilma district and all participants of the Ust-Tsilma Gorka holiday.

    "Kasha" is not any kind of special porridge, this word just means "porridge" in Russian.

    When you use the term Russians in Komi are you referring to ethnic Russians only or the entire Russian citizenship regardless of ethnicity?

      I was born in Komi and I can say that the word "Russian" is understood from the context. When we talk about the national composition of Komi, indigenous peoples should be called "Komi", and when we talk about the country, the population is called "Russian".

    These people like crossed between Russian and Mongolian and their traditional garment also almost crossed these cultures. As Komi people are Uralian it makes sense. What interesting people. I wonder how their language sounds like.

      There is national TV Chanel called «Юрган», but there will be videos both with Komi speakers and Russian speakers. You have to search for show «Миян йöз», it’s always Komi language there.

      These aren't komi people, these are Russian pomors. So more like a cross between Russians and Finn's

      @ilya_rusin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      They are Russians, not Komi. But they are similar, there was a culture exchange between them, many Komi people adopted some parts of Russian culture and lifestyle.

    • @thecandlemaker1329
      @thecandlemaker1329 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Almost nothing, Russians did not have any writing before their conversion, so all the data comes from somewhat unreliable Christian Russian sources, extremely unreliable foreign sources and archaeological findings that are difficult to interpret.

      Komipeoples like Udmurts and many others are basicly fenno-ugriche peoples. Not russians, bacause slavs came in Komilans ab 9 century. Before that fenno-ugrians live holy Tartarian (from Ural to Finnish Gulf). Komilanguage like 20 other areas languages are fenno-ural-ugrice languages. Western part of that language family are hungary, finnnish, estonian and carelian. These peoples are not etniche russians.
