Fred Kaps: There is magic in Holland - 1963

Deze film is een typisch voorbeeld van 'Holland Promotion', met magische trucs als grappige verbinding. Wereldkampioen goochelen Fred Kaps (1926-1980) bezoekt diverse industriële lokaties. In principe is het een stomme film met alleen muziek. De Engelse en Franse versie van de film wijken alleen af door de titels en een paar kreten.
Kaps bezoekt achtereenvolgens:
-laboratorium en de kunstmestproduktie van Staatsmijnen (later DSM)
-veehal, koeienmarkt, boerderij en melkfabriek Friesche Vlag (CCF) in Friesland
-Philips-laboratorium en fabrieken in Eindhoven
-mini Walcheren,
-waterloopkundig (Hydraulics) Laboratorium voor de Deltawerken
-de haven van Rotterdam

Thanks I really enjoyed watching this black & white mesmerising footage of old Holland.
I loved the way the sound captured the atmosphere of the early 60's.
Must have been great times.

Fascinating film of the country that I adore - Holland, and the man that I admire first and foremost within my beloved art of magic. There has only ever been one Fred Kaps.

Absolutely astounding. A wonderful film of a place and a people lost to history. I wish this were done in Germany, and France, and Italy, and....well you know. Thank you for this, and bless those who had the foresight to create such a brilliant time capsule.
