  • @marionroberts6825
    @marionroberts6825 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Your lamp shade is beautiful. My lamp shades are almost 30 years old and the fabric is crumbling. I have been trying to find a replacement shade for 2 years. As you mentioned, it can be costly to replace lamp shades. Replacing the shades for my 2 lamps would cost $75.00 to $100.00 each and they are hard to find with a 21-22" base diameter. I am not crazy about what I have found so far. I don't want to buy new lamps because it would be hard to find something I like that would go with my older furniture. I am going to try your procedure. Thank you for sharing!

    how long is the material that is going around the lamp shade? How did you come up with how much fabric you need to go around with the pleats?

    • @Euniceathome
      @Euniceathome  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, I would start with at least 2x longer than the circumference. It really depends on how big your pleats are - I started with the full length of how much I bought because I wasn’t sure and ended up using all of it! Hope that helps

  • @deltatango6793

    Do you think a less thick fabric would be better? Worse? Any other changes or non-changes you feel strongly about after living with the lamp shade for a while? Do you think stitching the lampshade onto the base shade was possible?

    • @Euniceathome
      @Euniceathome  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only thing I’d do differently is just ensure that the lines are more evenly spaced as I’m hot gluing the shade on, but besides that - the shade is still in great condition. You could definitely sew if that’s your preference, but because the fabric was pretty thick, hot glue sufficed. Less thick fabric would be easier to stiffen but might show the hot glue through especially if it’s light in color. The thicker, the more generously you’ll need to spray the stiffener (it should feel soaked) Thanks for watching 🥰
