Phenomenal video. Novation should hire you. I wasted a whole weekend looking for this sort of walk-through. Glad I finally found it. Please make more, similar content. Preferably a deeper dive into how to use Launchkey MIDI's with Logic Pro and the nuances between Ableton and Logic when using Novation hardware. As a beginner, I can thank you enough for putting this together. Saved me a lot of time and confusion.

This was INSANELY helpful to me! As someone who has never used a MIDI before, I feel so much more like I know what I'm doing after watching this video. This is the only video that I have watched about the Launchkey 49 that I have really learned from. Seriously, thank you. I no longer feel like I'm drowning!

Hey Xylo, You knock that one out of the park. As a vintage Pro Tools, Logic and Ableton teacher I recognise your depth and delivery is excellent, far beyond anyone else. Your double jointed fingers are still freaking me out. Fantastic video. Thanks

Picked up the Launchkey61 2 weeks ago and this is the first video I have been able to find that actually shows how to use it.! All the rest were like "here's how you plug in the usb cable" and how to download the software. Thanks for this. I have bookmarked this video because it is packed with so much info I will have to come back to it ;)

I have a newer Launchkey 37 and this tutorial was one of the best I have seen which is easily understandable and still can be applied to the 37 key. Good job. You cleared up some questions I had that was not addressed in other tutorials. Thank you.

Great video. I've just got mine today, and this was definitely helpful. The Capture MIDI feature is insane!
It's worth noting, as you mentioned aftertouch early on, that aftertouch is only on the pads and not the keys. I would have also liked to have seen more detailed instructions on how to set up the custom pots/pads/faders. I'm also trying to see if there's a way to control which device parameters the pots can control (i.e. is it only the first 8, or can you scroll across to the next bank?). I suspect you might have to use custom configurations of the device parameters.
Sorry to be picky too but, as constructive criticism, your content is very good but your camera and sound quality doesn't match that. For a music-tech channel, I would love to see you guys improve on the AV quality. Even just a decent smartphone camera and a semi decent mic would improve your output immensely.

    • @mikeyboardmusic

Solved it with the midi learn function in Ableton: midi learn the stop all button with the stop/solo/mute button on your mk3.

So I'm very new to midi keyboards. Is there anyway that you could show how to record for drums on Ableton. I really want to invest in this device but I'm ignorant when it comes to using it in my software. I want to buy a 25 mk3 for drum tracks.

    This was really well done.
I was wondering about the device controls and you covered that proper! Thank you.
Question: Is there a way to shift over so that the pots and faders control the next (and then next) tracks?
Also: So the lock of the wet/dry. If you lock it, does that mean that that pot will always control the wet/dry on any track's reverb, even though we start on page 1?
So whatever pot #7 used to do on page one of the reverb is now over-ridden?
    Thanks again!
